The moment you walk in, the atmosphere and smell of the food alone is 5 stars. You already know you're going to love this and you haven't even ordered. The young lady running the counter and answering the phone couldn't have been sweeter. Taking care of customers and making sure everything was getting done. All with a warm smile. As for the pizza itself? In a word: PHENOMENAL.

If you love pizza, you gotta come try this place out. Small homestyle local Gio’s is a family-run pizzeria that will redefine your pizza standards. We had a meat pizza in the shop and I took home a Magharitta pizza which my kid loved. We also tried their meatballs and they were bomb 💣 The pizza crust is thin and crunchy. Most pizzas run at a $20 fee for the same 8-slice pie. What makes or breaks a pizza for me? The crust and tomato sauce. Both here are amazing. The ambiance is homey, order at the counter and pay. The only catch is their operating hours. Make sure they are open when you wanna pop by.

This place smells like your Italian grandma's kitchen...or maybe like heaven...either one...everything was delicious & I definitely tasted the love they put in...We had the brucciloni, a Gio's special pizza, & ate everything...we'll definitely go back...I would've given 5 stars but I'm pretty sure the wine is boxed wine...would've liked a better selection...or maybe a good house wine from Italy would've been nice

Got a pizza there today, and no exaggeration, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, especially here in Louisiana. Nice crispy slices. I’m not a fan of super heavy, floppy, doughy pizzas. Gio’s is light, crispy yet chewy at the same time. Great sauce, too. The service was excellent, made me feel welcome and like I’d known them forever. I’d recommend 10/10 and I will absolutely be going back, and it’ll be this week lol.

The owners were so nice. As I was walking in with my grandkids (an infant and toddler) they both rushed to the door to help me, sat me at a table and took our order. While eating the food served to me, I noticed signs that it was a self service restaurant. Yikes. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and helpful that I was clueless. I ordered a pizza and salad. Both were tasty. I was disappointment that Gio’s only sold coca-cola products. It’s rare that I purchase drinks in plastic, but that’s the only type of beverage offered. The restaurant was clean. No much on decor, which was fine with me.

I'm not sure what the hype is with this pizza, First off the sauce was so sweet, it was not good, the cheese was barely there, it was thin crust which I'm ok with, but when u bit into the slice it was like biting into a crouton for the crust... it truly was blah.. it was my first time , and prob my last... the Guy who took my order was very nice though, and that's really the only good thing that I have to say🤷‍♀️

Absolutely delicious pizza. Fresh sauce, just enough cheese, high quality meats, thin and crispy crust. One of the best all around pizzas I've ever had. Very friendly service as well. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

The food is real Italian food! OMG the meatballs & spaghetti is awesome! It's delicious, all of it! The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is Italy. I try and eat there every time I come into Metairie. I recommend 100%.

The pizza is delicious, we've tried several different pies now. The time from order to food is quick and fresh. While it's a small dining area, it's roomy enough for 15ish tables. One of the best pizza places in Metairie.

This is the second trip we have made to Gio's and they have both been fantastic! The first time we got the side salad, meatballs and spaghetti and split the Gio's special. This time we got the cheesebread, and a 1/2 combo and 1/2 meat pizza. Both times, the crust is thin and super crispy, despite the hearty amount of toppings. All three pizzas were great- the toppings are fresh and of good quality. They have the perfect crispiness from the oven but aren't burned. Out of all 3, the Gio's special was our favorite. There is something about that combination of ingredients that was so delicious. The meatball was really good and their sauce is outstanding. The side salad and cheese bread were good but nothing we would have to get again. Can't wait to return!

went there today for lunch at 12:15 PM. We were one of two tables in the whole restaurant spent $50 on lunch and they charged me a dollar to bring my own water inside or I could've bought one of 12 ounce waters for $3.50. worst part is they don't have ice and don't offer customers water for free.!!!!! ridiculous

Don't ever park here not for the food . business the owner gonna have you car tow in a second just don't ever come here. They have somebody stand outside looking for you in the parking lot. Make sure your car is towed. the food and service sucks.

Beware parking here, even 2 1/2 hours before they open. The precedent they set, if you park across the parking lot well before they open, whether you plan on returning when they open to be a customer or not they will waste no time in having your car towed. They will even make eye contact and not say a word leaving you to believe, like most businesses who couldn't care less, that there isn't a problem... right before they called the tow truck. Reading a lot of the reviews here, besides being rude and dismissive, they don't seem to care how they treat members of their community- or how their actions and inactions affect them. My son, hurrying to a surprise going away party for a friend at a venue he assumed was part of the same strip mall, was told by the mom to park down the lot to not give away the surprise. Unfortunately, at the end of the strip mall is Gio's Pizza. He parked across the lot from their place at 1:30 in the afternoon. They quickly called the tow truck when he was out of sight and within a half hour his car was gone. So instead of celebrating the next chapter of her son's life, the mom feeling responsible for the innocent mistake, paid $200 of the $225 for the tow. Being a college student with no money, my son felt awful for accepting it. And what did Gio's get out of it? An empty parking spot 2 hours before they opened. Was it worth costing a members of their community $225 and ruining a once in a lifetime experience for a mom? Apparently, yes, for them. We all live together and don't live in a vacuum. If this is how they treat people, callus with no regard how their actions affect others, I recommend finding another one of the many local places who are not this inhospitable or threatening to your property.

Yes still great! If you're in town, GIOs is a must-visit! Their chicken Parmesan is incredibly delicious and comes in a perfect lunch-sized portion. It even includes a side salad. I had plans to eat at this restaurant with a friend. I got off work really early so I just went to the restaurant and parked to wait for her and listen to an audiobook. I had been waiting about 45 minutes when some startled me banging on my window. It was the restaurant owner telling me I had been parked for an hour and I needed to leave because his dinner rush would be starting. Mind you, there were no other cars in the immediate lot, there were literally at least 10 other parking spaces around me, the lot was empty! I just rolled up my window. 10 minutes later he very aggressively banged on my window again telling me I needed to leave or he would call the cops because I was loitering. I told him to feel free to call the cops! I promptly contacted my friend to let her know we were not and would NEVER dine at this establishment. I hesitantly agreed to meet some else because I wanted to wait for the cops because ohhhhh I was willing to be with the foolishness today! My friend begged me to leave so I did. I'm not sure what the owner of this restaurants problem is but he needs to focus on pizzas and not the parking lot!

Everything about this place is good! The owners are super friendly. Had a pizza and a chicken parm. Both were delicious. The red sauce is really tasty. It must have something to do with the tomatoes they use. It's very fresh. The place is small, but there are several tables. Parking may be tight, but the meal is totally worth the effort! This is definitely a repeat local restaurant!

Best pizza I've had in a LONG time and it was even just cheese pizza. So delicious. Every bite was great. Also Italian salad was amazing and the spaghetti and meal balls were perfect. I love their red gravy. It's my favorite and what tastes like my grandmothers. Amazing. Only downfall is they don't have high chairs and cups with lids for kids. Not sure what happens if lots of small kids come in, but that's a shame.

Gio's is fantastic, the pizza is amazing and they make my family's favorite Muffuletta. Make sure you check the operating hours first, they can depend on the day, but I'd never give a restaurant less stars for wishing they were open more often.

A wonderful little Italian restaurant with plenty of options! I always order pizza when I come here! The pizzas are always a delicious crispy thin crust. I definitely recommend adding on as many toppings as you can! I always add on mushrooms, green peppers, jalapeños and feta cheese! I usually get a meat pizza however I ordered the Quattro pizza with added vegetables last time I went. I enjoyed the pizza but was a like thrown off with a pizza containing cheddar cheese. It was still tasty but I don't know if I would order it again. I prefer pizza with Italian cheeses instead of cheddar. I still absolutely love this restaurant though!

Ordered a pizza for the family from here bc the most recent Yelp reviews were really good. And the ones that were not are like a year old. Plus i prefer small businesses to chain restaurants. Easy to find, free parking. No seating bc they are doing pick up and delivery only (im guessing since Covid). Pizza was ready when i arrived. A family of elders was seated and i guess they're related to Gio bc everyone else was picking up. They offer spaghetti, about 15 predetermined pizzas and have a pretty impressive diversity of toppings. We ordered the Hawaiian. It is supposed to be ham, bacon and pineapple. We replaced the ham with chicken. Thin crust was meh. Only tasty on the hot parts, but the end of the crust where the real taste test is...super MEH. Almost carboardy. Cheese was of a cheap quality, not properly melty. Barely any pineapple. Dry pizza, not much sauce. No bacon. Fam ate on piece and no more. I ate more and feel terrible, this morning. It's a No for me.

The people who run this restaurant are rude, unprofessional, and unfit to be in the service industry. We ordered 3 entrees from this place to pick up, a place that we had gone to many times before, 1 one missing. Normally, that would be fine; however, when we went back for the missing order, we were called liars and told that the waitress "always checks the bags." We were offered no apology, no refund, no anything. We called the owner later and were told to never come back because we were crazy. I have worked in a restaurant before, and if a to go order was missing, we would always happily replace the order or offer a refund, this restaurant seems to not understand the basics of the food industry. In the midst of the COVID-19 panic, we trying to offer a local restaurant business to help them survive the pandemic. We were instead given the worst restaurant experience of our lives. I encourage everyone here to never go to Gio's again and to instead frequent our area's other fine Italian establishments such as Vincent's, Filipo's, Sandro's, or any other one. This place does not deserve business or the community's help during these trying times.

We ordered a cheese pizza with artichoke, mushrooms and jalapeños( Friday during lent). I tell ya I cooked pizza at an Italian restaurant in mid city for 2 years. This pizza was slightly under cooked and ver doughy on the bottom. It made us sick! We both hung out in the bathroom all night!

When you walk in this place the smell is amazing. It's like walking in a wall of strong fresh pizza. I also enjoyed the God Father theme song playing as I entered. It is a smaller place with about 10 tables with red and white checkered table clothes. I placed an order over the phone and the man that took my order was extremely polite. I order the muffaletta. They toast theirs which is how I prefer it. the meat to olive salad ratio was good because it was more meat than olive salad. Also the ham inside was smoked and that smoky flavor really makes it stand out from the other muffalettas in the city. Overall very good hole in the wall. We dined in recently, I ordered the mufaletta pizza. It was so good. Like the mufaletta sandwich, more meat less salad. So very tasty. Since I've had their meatballs and their lasagna, both are good but not my favorite.

I like Pizza with thin crust and this place has thin crisp crust that even reheats well. The toppings are great. I decided to get an Italian salad with my pizza last time. The small size was a generous portion. I ate it in 2 servings. The bags of Italian fig cookies are homemade and to die for. The were moist and sweeter than others I have eaten at St. Joseph Altars. Veal parmesan is always tender and delicious. Times are hard for all of us now. Support local restaurants!! .

There is another local place I like to go for lunch (Brooklyn Pizza) because you can buy pizza by the slice and the price is good. The problem is lately they can't keep help and it isn't always open. Today that happened again so wanting my pizza fix I stumbled onto Gio's. It was a wonderful find. You can't get pizza by the slice so I split a small pepperoni pizza with my lunch partner. I the pizza was fantastic! Good crisp crust the right amount of cheese and the sauce was excellent. We will be back to try out other menu items for sure!

This spot is sooo good! You could get a very authentic Italian meal here, from the cheesy bread, to the pizza & spaghetti! This place gives me a warm feeling, and customer service was on point as well. They don't have table service right now but it's so worth it! This was the first place I visited here in Louisiana & it won't be the last definitely did not disappoint, even left overs were sooo good! Move to Texas please!!

Our office has been open during this whole Covid-19 experience and it has been exhausting to say the least. One of the docs decided to treat us to Gio's week one and we have requested it everys week since. Been getting it for my family every weekend, too! These people are great and make you feel like family when you walk in which is pretty hard behind plate glass. Never had any issues with my order and always have enough cheese, utensils, pepper packets, etc. And now to the most important part...THE FOOD! Can I say amazing? I don't know if I like the pizza or the eggplant parm better but the Italian salad tops any I have ever had. This place is a must try and I promise you not only will you not be disappointed, but it will probably become a regular stop!

My husband and I stumbled upon this little Gem last night. We ordered a large half Gio special/ half Italiano along with a medium Quattro. It was perfectly cooked - lite and crispy; toppings and cheese were perfect amount. Let's talk about that SAUCE!!! You can buy it by the quart and ill definitely be grabbing one during my next visit. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate and the staff was very friendly. We have tried countless pizza places and restaurants and this one stands out. both my husband and I agreed that Gio's will be our "go-to". Can't wait to try one of their entree's!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so happy that you guys are open during these difficult times. Sometimes food is all the comfort you need, and as usual, it was just that! I went in for dinner for my husband and I, and ended up getting food for my in-laws! I ordered on the spot, to go of course, and it was ready just as fast, as if I called it in...The food is always delicious, but we come back as often as possible, because of the customer service. Little places like this, really know what it means to go above and beyond for the customer. Family owned and operated, and you can tell from the food, to the way they handle people. I will forever support local businesses, especially my favorite place! Thanks to all of you, for being so essential during these times. I meant to take a picture, but we all inhaled the food. LOL! This is a cool dive Italian restaurant in the usual Metairie strip mall. The place is just old and kind of dirty the way you expect a dive joint to be. The food is much better than I would have expected and it is some of the best casual Italian food in the area that its in. They even managed to surprise me as they serve their lasagna with a side of angel hair pasta and that's something I just haven't seen anywhere else at the local Italian places. In addition to their pasta entrees they also have pizza and po boys. Overall I like both the dive ambiance and the food here along with the fact it is a great place to grab a quick lunch at a good value.

Small space, mismatched plates, wood panel walls. Didn't your mommy tell you not to judge a book by it's cover?! For our prelunch lunch (appetizer) we had a caprese salad. I'm pretty sure the basil was briefly a loin cloth of the gods + the mozzarella was fresh to death! For our shared predinner (lunch) we had a Greek pizza adding artichoke. Dispite my blood sucking, flesh eating co-workers standard meat preference, we all enjoyed a vegitarian meal!

Gio's is still one of my favorite , quaint family run Italian restaurants. We went again yesterday and the spaghetti and meatballs were , as usual , excellent. Home made sauce and big , fluffy meatballs are awesome. We also had a combo pizza that was perfect , thin , crispy on the edges crust , just the right amount of sauce and ingredients makes you appreciate their food. I especially enjoy the Soft , Italian music they play. This place is still a winner.

My family wanted to meet after work for pizza so I picked Gio's as we had never been there. Great ambiance, service was spot on. This is an Italian family run restaurant and is quite entertaining! We ordered a muffalleta to take home for dinner the next day. It is one of the best muffaletta's that I've ever had! The ham is smoked to give it that extra flavor and their homemade olive salad was so very good. Cudo's to Gio's!!

WOW!!! What a gem! Great eggplant parmigiana along with 2 tasty pizzas- Italian sausage & meat special . Really delicious sauce & a great value.

This was our first time ordering from there. Heard from word of mouth that they had yummy pizza. It's a thinner style pizza that you can eat several slices of and not feel grossly full. My daughter and I absolutely loved it. We will definitely be back again.

This is some of my favorite Red gravy in the city and I love any place that keeps bruccicloni as a special. The manicotti and chicken parm are consistently good. And I alway enjoy a slice of pizza here. The service and atmosphere here can be interesting. Almost any night you will have the same waitress (there is usually only one in the whole place). She's quick to notice regulars and know your orders. It's not the friendliest service, but it's effective and will usually make you want to come back. As for looks, the place is in serious need of a facelift. I don't mind the dated look, as much as I mind the stained ceiling tiles and dingy bathrooms. Tonight I had my first big complaint ever. We went in with a larger group for a family birthday. We brought a cake with us. When I asked for a knife and some plates, they refused my request. They brought me a knife to cut the cake, but said the owner would not allow us to use any small plates. Now, this was a virtually empty restaurant and we could see stacks of clean plates. I've never had an establishment decline such a small request, especially to fairly regular customers. Needless to say, we won't be regulars anymore if that's how they treat customs.
