Best Chinese Restaurants in the Charlotte, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Popular among both Westerners and the mainland Chinese community, this Weddington destination is worth the drive for a full dim sum menu (soup dumplings, radish turnip cakes, and pork and shrimp shu mai, between $8 to $13 each) and other specialty dishes like hearty clay pot options, thick and saucy mapo tofu, lobster covered in ginger and scallion, and cold-cut chicken. Traditional dishes like sesame chicken are also on the menu, with many under $20 for dinner and $14 for lunch. A casual, comfortable, bright dining room with a full bar is inviting enough for a friend or work group dinner or the whole family." - Shindy Chen

This Cantonese kitchen draws weekend lines for a broad lunch dim sum lineup—turnip cakes, rice rolls, and soup dumplings—backed by a full bar and banquet-friendly room. Featured by Eater Carolinas as a go-to for a full dim sum spread.

This place has changed significantly since the last time we had visited for lunch. We had ordered the orange chicken with fried rice with wonton soup. The soup was good, but warm (not hot). After that, the experience went straight downhill. Firstly, the chicken was saturated with a honey-sugar glaze that was thick and slimy. It made the chicken uneatable. The broccoli was cold, as if chilled in the refridgerator before being served. Nobody like broccoli cold as ice. Lastly, we had ordered the fried rice. It was nothing like other photos from past reviews. It looked like plain white rice with a fried egg mixed in. It was bland and tasteless. Service was impersonal and lacked any eye contact. In fact, when the server was handing me the bill, she was literally looking across the room while aimlessly reaching out her arm with the bill. The food is sub-standard and is not like it once was. Needless to say, we will not go back.

This place has a unique Live Fish option. The food was good, and the cocktails were okay. Nothing outstanding, though. They also have private rooms for large groups, which is great with kids.

Lam’s Kitchen is a hidden gem in Matthews! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Their General Tso’s chicken is crispy and delicious, and the lo mein is some of the best I’ve had. The staff is friendly, quick, and always gets the order right, whether dining in or taking out. Great portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend if you’re craving quality Chinese food in the area!

The food is amazing. Really well done menu! Large but it offers everything you’d want. And the portions are shareable. Nothing was overcooked and the flavors were better than expected. The service was a bit slow and chaotic at times. Most dishes didn’t come at the same time for everyone. Reservations are welcome. Overall, I’ll choose here again for Chines food.

Definitely not fast service (kitchen). But well worth the wait. Super helpful and friendly wait staff. Our group of 3 both agreed this was the BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT we ever visited. Generous portions, Averaging $20 a plate, unless you go top tier entrees. To full for desserts, I claimed doggie bag first! Heh heh heh.

Went here on Easter Sunday and they had a line out the door at opening time. This restaurant is insanely busy so I highly recommend making reservations in advance. They have a full bar and a private room for bigger parties that require a $100 deposit and spending a minimum of $400. Our waitress was the sweetest lady and provided us with the best service. The food was delicious, and they also had dim sum which was a bonus for us. I recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience.

I had heard good things about Lams Kitchen and most of those things lived up to my expectations when I finally got around to going. When you walk into any ethnic style restaurant and there are a lot of people of that culture in there eating, then you know that you are in the right place and that you are going to get the real deal, and that is exactly what I got at Lams Kitchen. We tried about 10 diffrent dishes and my top 4 would be the Roast Duck, Char Siu, Orange Beef and the Beef Shank. I definitely plan to go back because the menu is so big that there are so many more things I want to try, but also because they have a pretty large Dim Sum Menu, but only at lunch, and I happened to go at dinner.
