Get Caffeinated at Dolores Park’s Upcoming Fancy Coffee Bar | Eater SF

"Owned by respected roaster Andrew Barnett, this new Mission District cafe—taking over the former Nopalito window next to Bi‑Rite Creamery just steps from Dolores Park—occupies an 800-square-foot space (about 2½ times the original shop) with indoor seating and a buildout by designer Alan Sklansky. It will offer blended drinks, delicate pour-over service, and a nostalgic “bean bar” modeled on old San Francisco bean-scooping counters, plus pastries and baked goods from Dynamo Donuts and Neighbor Bakehouse. New offerings include the company’s A4 espresso blend, available by pour-over and espresso only, while the overall operation emphasizes roasting as its core mission and a B Corp commitment to working with organic, biodynamic coffee producers. The cafe is slated to open in late summer or early fall 2025." - Paolo Bicchieri

Andrew Barnett’s boutique roastery keeps it minimal and sweet-focused, with excellent espresso, shrubs, and award-winning beans. Often cited by local critics; a perennial pick for quality without fuss in the Mission and Potrero Hill.

Google
A damn fine cup of coffee! ☕ I've heard this called the best coffee in SF and honestly, I may agree. Small, snug spot plus chill and approachable staff made my visit feel cozy. Despite no indoor seating, there were still ceramic mug options! I got a maple Americano in a mug (so kind of small) and it was the creamiest coffee drink I've had. Definitely a must for fans of that espresso crema.

Google
Línea Caffe’s original location may be small, but it has a cozy, welcoming vibe that draws you in. I really love their color palette—it’s modern yet warm. The coffee lives up to the reputation too: smooth, flavorful, and expertly made. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in San Francisco.

Nicholas P.

Google
They know their coffee! Got an excellent pourover here. Wish there were some seating so I could enjoy the coffee at the store, but the cup was so juicy I can't complain! They have a wonderful selection of single origin beans as well and I couldn't help but buy a couple bags. Looking forward to trying them out and stopping by here more often!

Dassi S.

Google
It’s not on the nicest corner, but the coffee is yum. I was able to find parking out front no problem, on a Saturday morning. Recommend the maple salt latte — it’s perfect, I’ll have some salty sweet creamy with that espresso thank you very much. My daughter got the cold brew, not bitter, just nutty and rich. And the financier we split was delicious, almondy goodness like the ones I had in France this summer. We sat on the bench outside and enjoyed for a minute or two, and it was an enjoyable interlude to start the morning. Hard to ask for a better treat.

Google
I’ll start off by saying that I am REALLY particular about my espresso. I usually make my daily cortado at home but occasionally I treat myself to one at Linea. They really know what they’re doing! If you’re expecting drinks with lots of flavorings/add-ons - this isn’t the place. But if you’re looking for high quality espresso, look no further. There are two benches outside if you have your drink there, which I recommend. I think coffee always tastes better in a glass or ceramic cup over a paper cup! Be warned - it is $$$. But it’s my favorite in SF so well worth it for me.

Marco A.

Google
I live around the area and always make a stop here whenever I can. My favorite is the macchiato which is very tasty and has a good caffeine kick on it. Service is fast and friendly, they also have chairs outdoors to enjoy the sunshine while enjoying the drink. Tu I’m a up to this place!

Google
Came across this place from no where at 18th Street, first time exploring from linea caffe must say for sure do try their tipus chai latte and matcha oat latte..they got uniqueness in taste. Wish they would have sitting arrangements so I could try something else, unfortunately I have to make it to go. Well over all nice caffeine shop in SFO Must visit spot to check out.

Maria S.

Google
A lovely stop! The cashier and barista were kind, helpful and efficient. We ordered an espresso, two drip coffees and the everything pastry with cream cheese. The drinks were very good. Espresso was balanced and delicious, as was the drip coffee. The pastry was from a local bakery and we found it a little soggy, but we appreciated that they had a food option since we were road tripping.

Yelp
Some of the best roasters in the city in my opinion. I have been going to their Mariposa location for years and it is always consistent . The beans are superb! The ambiance is nice and chill, non pretentious, and the staff is always kind. They have a parklet out front and a great place to meet up with friends or just enjoy by yourself. Nothing but love for this awesome establishment.
google avatar

Shivangi K.

Yelp
Ordered the salted maple latte (~$9) The latte base itself was really good, but the salted maple aspect is just a whipped cream top with maple drizzle + salt. I think I was expecting the flavor to be incorporated into the drink, but didn't really taste the salt or maple in the latte. Still a good drink, but probably would just go for a regular latte next time since this wasn't a stand out. There's no seating, it's very much grab&go. Good for morning strolls or quick pick me up.
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
I got the coffee ($6) with half and half and it was sour. That's just my taste. It's at the corner. You might miss it because it has graffiti on the glass. I just needed a pick me up. It did the job.
google avatar

Anita P.

Yelp
Service was very friendly and quick! I was a bit disappointed with the matcha. I felt it was a bit watery and grainy, and wish there had been more tea flavor.
google avatar

Edrian D.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Passed by for an afternoon pick up. Quick, easy and it felt like home. The staff knows their community - It was a breath of fresh air. The matcha latte was by far amazing. Not too sweet and made with care. Pro tip - Matcha Pandan Muffin! Get it! It's bomb Would I come here again? Absolutely - I don't usually come to the office, but when I do I'm coming here for my afternoon pick me up. Would I

Yelp
Had a chance to try Linea Caffe located in the Mission with some friends and this was a great experience. My friend had heard good things about the shop through instagram so it was a no brainer to try this spot when we saw it. This place also sells fresh coffee beans and my friend ended up buying two bags as well. I tried the Vanilla Latte which was very yummy and well tasting, Overall enjoyed this very much! Service was fast and helpful as well!
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Yup, this was everything I dreamt of. Location is quaint and tucked in the corner, an in-and-out situation with no seating inside. I'm usually skeptical of coffee shops that also are roasters because I have a particular preference for beans. I prefer a dark roast with caramel/toffee/chocolate notes and stray away from bright or acidic beans. When I visited Linea they had an array of freshly roasted beans, including some that were 50% off - something I considered a good deal since their beans are pretty pricy regularly ($22+) so I grabbed a Brazil blend for $16.5, a steal! I treated myself to a salted maple latte and the gentlemen helping me were extremely patient and friendly. They took their time explaining the different notes and reassuring me that their beans are roasted for sweetness. Coffee was smooth and creamy, it had the perfect amount of sweetness without overpowering the coffee flavor. I'm excited to come back again and try their other beans!

Yelp
Stopped in here Thanksgiving morning with family for a cuppa Joe. Wow! We were all really pleased with our beverage order....match, latte, corridor, decaf coffee. I ordered the holiday special...maple salted caramel latte. It was delicious! The hot whole milk latte with maple syrup added, was topped with homemade whipped cream drizzled with caramel and maldon salt. Soo good! Definitely a 5 star coffee. Not indoor seating. Benches available outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Latte's and pastries! Very friendly staff!! We've heard and walked by Linea Coffee a few times but finally had an opportunity to go today. We ordered a vanilla Latte with Oatmilk, buckwheat muffin and a blackberry pistachio croissant. The vanilla Latte with Oatmilk was done perfectly and as requested (half of vanilla syrup with no foam). The quality of espresso bean was terrific and the temperature of our drink was just right, not too hot or cold. The buckwheat muffin was fresh and big! I loved the blackberry pistachio croissants. Mmmm Mmmm good!! We highly recommend this place and will be coming by again soon!!
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Is this the best coffee in SF? Most very likely. Extremely good quality not just for SF but for anywhere. Are the beans here expensive? Oh yeah, but see my statement about being the best. 10oz will run you $28 and up depending on the bean you get. Only gripe would be they don't serve espresso shots of any of their single origin, but their house coffee is. Would def return.
google avatar

Sammi Y.

Yelp
Cute local spot for coffee. They sell whole bean bags too! I got the chai latte and it was pretty solid but maybe not quite for $7... the staff is super nice. It's small so there's no real seating area inside but a few spots outside.
google avatar

Gyul G.

Yelp
Americano was excellent! Staff was friendly! There's no indoor seating. There are a couple of benches outside. Id definitely recommend grabbing a coffee here.
google avatar

Ben J.

Yelp
Fabulous "local" coffeeshop (local for me but really one of the best in the city) for a casual cup, espresso, or take home beans. The vibe is hip and industrial, and they roast their own beans in house with a great selection of different single origins for sale. Personally, I tend to get a mocha, latte or cappuccino when I go and I am never disappointed! There are no seats inside but they have a nice parklet outside with uncovered seating for nicer days and all drinks are served to go. For the first time recently we also bought some beans to take home (roasted a few days ago an discounted 50%, was $10 for a small bag) and they gladly ground it to an espresso consistency for us quickly and we were on our way. Performed very nicely on our home espresso machine and was a definite upgrade from the grocery store espresso we usually use.
google avatar

Corrie P.

Yelp
Good coffee, dog friendly, has a wooded outdoor seating area for you and your pup to hangout. Only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star instead of 4 is because they added a pastry I didn't want onto my order. I just paid for it, no big deal but just would've liked for my order to be told back to me before paying. Other than that. Good quaint little place to grab coffee
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Tasty espresso, got a bag of beans to go, small inside but has some benches on the outside to enjoy your coffee. Small operation, friendly guys
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
The coffee and staff are five stars! The pricing is in line with the quality since the beans are so smooth, but oof, definitely a special treat to pay $9 for a specialty drink with tip. I tried the salted maple latte and it was pure perfection - no bite and not too sweet. Some seating would be welcome! It's a big enough space to cozy it up a little bit. The staff are out of central casting for hip SF baristas and couldn't be nicer.

J L.

Yelp
Prices are insane! $7.50 for a 12oz latte and the espresso isn't great. Very weak, about the same as S-b LP ucks!
google avatar

Alice S.

Yelp
This is an okay hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, but it's nothing to write home about. You order at the walk-up window on the San Carlos St side of the storefront. At around 9:30am on a weekday, there was only a short line of around 2-3 people. I ordered a 12oz latte with whole milk, which I definitely didn't think was worth $6. I really couldn't taste the espresso that well because the milk overpowered it. My partner ordered a cold brew, which he also thought was overpriced and tasted just okay. Overall, the coffee drinks here just weren't memorable enough for me to want to come back again.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
Strong flavors that taste like chicory and blackberry. Not necessarily my type of roast since I prefer more fruity and less dark roasts. This is definitely a hipster place with no whipped cream, very short and stern service, and no explanations (such when I was asking about a less bitter roast they said that basically I can buy a whole pound and brew my own of such and such blend) which wasn't helpful since a pound was like $30. I don't get this place...but maybe you do?
google avatar

Rosie N.

Yelp
Simple menu, grab and go coffee shop! Good prices and good coffee. I got a cappuccino and can't have nothing to complain about. No seating here
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
[Coffee To Take Home] (a follow-up to my In-Cafe Review below) [Freshness] - what I saw on the shelf was roasted 3 days prior, although they were also selling bags of Honduras beans roasted the previous week at half price (which I bought) - according to their website, Linea roasts their coffee every Tuesday & Thursday (available to order online with free shipping for orders above $50) [Bag Style] - comes with the one way valve but no means to re-seal, so you can expect coffee to stay fresh prior to opening (but you'll need to tape it sealed yourself or store in a proper container) [Brew and Taste] - coffee:Single Origin "Heyvis Sagastume" from Honduras, roast level not specified, typically $26 for 10 oz ($2.6/oz) - brew process: Chemex (6-cup), Fellow Ode Gen 2 w/ stock burrs@ 9.0 grind setting, 195°F brew temperature - the coffee came out clean with the pleasant caramel flavors and syrupy body I hope for in South American coffee, but yielded the mildest bitter aftertaste that I couldn't tune out with just the brew temperature and grind level (suggesting this may be just darker than medium roast) [Pricing] - the beans are generally on the more expensive end compared to other local specialty roasters (average at Linea is about $2.5/oz for single origin, $2.8/oz for espresso, and $2.2/oz for blends) [Verdict] - "Heyvis Sagastume" from Honduras: 2/3 (enjoyable) - this was a darker roast than I typically enjoy, but I've been impressed enough with Linea Caffe to believe I can find other beans that I'd brew regularly (especially with more guidance from the baristas)
google avatar

Isabel J.

Yelp
Probably my favorite coffee shop ever. The iced oat vanilla latte is so good. They have pastries from neighbor bakehouse and the croissants are delicious. The staff is very friendly and they have open seating outside on the parklet. It's a must go if you're in portrero hill!
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
I've tried over 50+ coffee locations in the greater Bay Area and I keep coming back to Linea! They make their beans on-site, their vanilla syrup tastes homemade, and their vanilla latte never disappoints! The ONLY downside is the price, $8 for a flavored latte is a little steep, even by Bay Area standards. Would highly recommend you give this place a try for yourself!
google avatar

Ed U.

Yelp
Oh my, this here is what they call artisan coffee. I actually noticed their roastery in Potrero Hill first, but I could never time my walks to take advantage of the cafe when it was open. But I found their tiny corner cafe on 18th at the perfect time when I needed tasty balm on a windswept, rain-soaked day in the Mission. The $6.95 Almond Latte did the trick as it provided the depth of flavor and modicum of sweetness for which I am always seeking (photo: https://bit.ly/3ym0zMh). COFFEE - 5 stars...as fine a latte as I've had in the rain AMBIANCE - 4 stars...everything at the window when I was there SERVICE - 4 stars...very smooth operation TOTAL - 5 stars...I need to see their roastery in action RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2NHtst6

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in SF! Their lattes here are the favorite one I've tasted. The espresso taste doesn't get lost in the milk. It's been consistently good every time we come here. My fiance and I go to both locations, this one on 18th between Mission and Valencia and the other location in Mariposa near UCSF Mission Bay campus. Both have consistent lattes so I never worry which location we end up getting lattes from. The Mariposa location usually has the better parking as it's situated in a quieter neighborhood. We love coming to this location right after Sunday mass at Mission Dolores Basilica, it's a great treat to round out my Sunday mornings!
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Linea is a consistent gem of a coffee shop in the Mission, and possibly the entire city. My go-to is their iced espresso tonic, which always has the perfect proportion of coffee to water. Their coffee is strong, creamy, and balanced. The addition of carbonation really helps elevate this particular drink, but I'm biased because I am a carbonated water fan, in general. My only gripe is the price ($7). If not for that, it would be a solid 5 stars and I'd be coming back a heck of a lot more often. For now, it remains an expensive indulgence!
google avatar

Mia S.

Yelp
Fan of linea coffee here! Coffee, beans, everything is excellent! Service with a smile and great coffee, can't go wrong. It's a small shop on a corner and sadly covered in graffiti all over the windows. Graffiti isn't going to hold this coffee shop down.
google avatar

Dee N.

Yelp
One of the best Mocha that I have ever had!! The cafe doesn't look much from outside but they do serve great coffee!
google avatar

Janessa H.

Yelp
Smoooooooooth lattes Delicious chais Only con is its only grab and go! This has become my go-to for consistently smooth coffee which is rare to find. I hate when the flavor changes based on the barista but no its always on point!
google avatar

Brittany T.

Yelp
This place is so cute! I came here with my friend for pasteries. I tried their chai lemon honey poppy crumble and it was very yummy. Interesting flavor profile abd very moist.
google avatar

Shirin B.

Yelp
Went to this cute hole in the wall coffee shop - they have a few locations near mission - but we decided to stop at this one! Really good coffee with no complex syrups or sauces. If you want a flavored latte check out any other coffee shop but come here for a nice cappuccino and a donut from neighbor bake house, and really that's all you'll need to start your morning. I got a warm dirty chai and it was delicious. Not too overly spiced and the perfect amount of espresso!
google avatar

Laura D.

Yelp
Honestly, this may be the best vanilla iced latte I've ever had. So good. I wish there was a location closer to me, I'd go all the time haha.

Pimmy P.

Yelp
Best Cappuccino ever! I'm a big fan of Cappuccino here, very impressed by their Coffee quality & consistency. Love it!!! And today I tried Hot Matcha for the first time. It's lovely , has more flavor than Matcha from Stonemill Matcha! xx
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
have been seeing this cafe on instagram and thought to give it a try! i've been on a matcha latte hunt lately and so i had to try their matcha latte. i was kinda disappointed because although they had the proper tools (whisk, etc), there was still a lot of powder at the bottom of my drink. the color wasn't as green as i preferred and i knew instantly that the lack of darkness in color would mean that it would taste mostly of milk. i do want to try this location but another one of their drinks as maybe their matcha latte isn't their speciality. i wouldn't recommend getting their matcha latte if you're a huge fan of matcha lattes! parking is also kinda hard to find since it's street parking.
google avatar

Alexei B.

Yelp
Went in to buy some beans based on some coffee enthusiast recommendations. Haven't tried them yet, but the complementary cup of coffee I received was the best batch-brewed coffee I've tasted. How is it even possible for coffee coming out of a vat to taste that good???
google avatar

Elaine C.

Yelp
Solid stars for the latte and everything croissant! I stopped by today and found metered parking a block away! Line and service was very quick and efficient. Latte was very creamy and strong! The everything croissant with the filling was delicious as well. They have a good selection of pastries - both savory and sweet. I'll be back just for that latte. There's no indoor seating so it's grab and go!
google avatar

Rie K.

Yelp
This was a random spontaneous visit a friend of mine who is really into coffee. Both of us have never been to this place and he chose this place from the list of the famous SF coffee places. The store was just the window with a garage and there were no seating area. When we got there around 11am on Saturday, there was a line of around 5 people and we waited for like 10 minutes to order. The menu was very basic and they had coffee beans and some pastries for sale as well. I got cappuccino and my friend got latte. Both of them were good but not super surprising. My friend also got a bag of beans which was the last one for the day and was a seasonal special flavor. Price range and the quality were good for the random morning coffee but not recommended for the coffee tasting or sitting down and catching up with friends.

Colin D.

Yelp
I go here very often as a consistently good cup of coffee. The baristas are always friendly. While there is no indoor seating or restroom available, there is outdoor seating which.
google avatar

Siddhartha G.

Yelp
Linea symbolizes your classic hole-in-the-wall cafe, it really does feel like someone carved out an alcove on a random Mission street corner to get this lovely setup going. I tried a creamy latte and was glad to hear that they were happy to pour it out in my personal mug! I ended up purchasing a bag of the Big Calm decaf beans to try out at the office espresso machine and they have made for some excellent crema-laden espresso shots.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
I've come to Linea a couple of times since I live in the neighborhood and have tried both their espresso drinks and brewed coffee. Their espresso drinks are good and always consistent - I usually get a cappuccino with oat milk. Their corner space is cute and it's easy to line up and order from their window. I am a little surprised that a cafè au lait (coffee with steamed milk) costs $5... that would be my only complaint. Otherwise, I've always had a positive experience coming here!
google avatar

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Got their matcha latte and sadly would not recommend. It was $6.75 and taste like milk. The matcha powder wasn't blended in well at all :(
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Amazing cafe. I had a cortada for the first time. Just an amazing drink--it was a San Francisco moment at Linea where their little bench was open, the sun was hitting the right spot, the neighborhood was buzzing and peaceful, and the cortada was liquid heaven. Thanks Linea

Hamilton O.

Yelp
My coffee with an extra shot cost around $13, and it didn't taste as good as I expected. I also got a gluten-free lemon poppy donut for another $8. Overall, it feels like this place is overpriced.
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in San Francisco. They also stock pastries from Neighbor Bakehouse. Quality can range from good to great, and there's a decent amount of variability depending on your barista. Prices are typical for third wave coffee in SF (expensive)( but this is a perfect spot to get your fix at. Just beware there's no seating inside.
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Linea was my favorite coffee spot in the city even before I lived in the Mission. Now that I live around the corner, it's my almost daily habit. I cannot confirm nor deny that I may have chosen housing location based on proximity to Linea. Of course, they have excellent coffee, beans & brewed. Their drinks are delicious and consistent. After being in SF for nearly a decade, I would say I am very picky about coffee, so I don't say any of this lightly. But just as important, to me, is the staff/vibe. Many of these baristas know my name and my drink and make me feel welcome and usually make me laugh- great way to start a day. I am a nurse and was working in the Emergency Dept during the pandemic and they delivered coffee & treats to me & my coworkers several times. I feel the love at Linea!! Thank you to my Linea fam for keeping me caffeinated! You guys are THE best!

Laurie M.

Yelp
Excellent in all ways! I wish it were closer to my house, but they ship beans quickly.
google avatar

Irina P.

Yelp
I had coffee here the other day, it felt a bit over roasted and not hot enough. Definitely underwhelming for a $6 coffee
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Still The Best Espresso in the city, by far! To comply with city and state Covid-19 requirements, Linea is now operating as a walk-up window on San Carlos, the alley just off 18th. They have excellent signage, markings denoting 6' apart on the sidewalk so that folks waiting in line will remain socially-distant, and they take the order and finish the order for each customer before welcoming the next customer up to the register. This doesn't take as long as it sounds, and helps maintain good social distancing. Their iced latte remains my favorite in the entire city, rich and creamy espresso perfectly melded with high-quality whole milk, with just enough ice to keep it cold without getting watery! The people who work here are friendly, helpful, and hardworking. The owner is nice, neighborly, and generous. The store is kept visibly clean and I appreciate their high-level Covid-safety protocol!
google avatar

Isabelle V.

Yelp
Edit: It's not super important but I wish the tiny macchiato cups came with a lid. It's a little uncomfortable not having "protection" for the drink from the environment and it would feel more sanitary with a lid. This is so far the best espresso I've had in the Bay Area! Definitely not the cheapest drinks you'll find but damn is it worth it. I've gotten the macchiato twice now ($4) and it's perfectly rich and creamy. Employees were super kind both times I was there as well.
