Freds Downtown

Those fries are the stuff dreams are made on. Also, the wine was very good. Service was fine, nothing particularly special, but the fries alone guaranteed this 5 star review (if you knew me, you'd understand). Might just have to make this a more regular outing. Just for those fries.

For the price, food was really mediocre. The Downtown Vegan salad, for $27(!) was the most ordinary, uninteresting and tasteless salad I've had. Ingredients were just thrown in. The kale was not 'massaged' as indicated by the server. You'd get a better salad at any 'downtown' spot for a lot less. Service very slow.

The food is exquisite, the drinks well balanced. The service is excellent. I have been many times and was lucky to have Santiago as a server. Always polite and very entertaining. The restaurant deserves more attention.

The food is good but pricy. You'd think that because of the environment that Fred's would be more of a scene with fancy ladies shopping or trendy socialites clinking glasses of champagne just because it has bubbles. But it isn't. It's relatively quiet and often empty.

My cousin and a friend were in for the Peloton exhibition. Her friend was a featured speaker. I wanted to treat then to a lovely, comfortable and relaxed Restaurant to dine and I choose Fred's Restaurant in Chelsea. We had booked for 5 guests, then moved it to 2. Crystal made the change in our party. She was very pleasant about the change and was not rude. Nor was she patronizing... We thank her again and again. The wait person was very nice as well. His name is Shady. Rather pleasant and accommodating. My cousin enjoyed everything about the Restaurant and just as we were winding down, enjoying our dessert in walked the fabulous and stunningly delicious, the one and only Rupaul! We were awe struck but maintained our composure. I mean that is the only way to be when on the presence of sheer greatness, beauty and Royalty. After we left Freds, we stopped by the men's shoe boutique. The two sales associate graciously offered to charge my cousins mobile. They were so warm and kind Thereafter, RuPaul strolled in glancing at some of the shoes. He even said hello and gave us a hug and chatted with us. What a special and genuine Darlibg if a person he is. We will never forget him and that shared moment with him at Fred's...It doesn't get any better than that. Trust me. Thank you.

Grapefruit Rose was perfect for brunch, but Downtown Vegan Salad was very tasteless and pricey. Need more vegan options. Great atmosphere and service - fabulous wall mural.

service is maybe the best I have ever had all the times I have been there. menu exciting and delicious too! and then, lets head to the shoe department! what could be better.

They stopped serving the lasagna at the downtown store, and Fred's lasagna is literally the best on the planet! Luckily, they still do it at the uptown store...
