The Best Spots for Rum Cocktails in Tampa | Eater

"Imagine a rustic hunting lodge was taken over by a family with a passion for colorful modern art, and you’re close to the experience at CW’s Gin Joint. The popular after-work, downtown spot is teeming with Tampa’s core of young professionals, mingling among artwork and antler chandeliers. The curated setting makes a perfect backdrop for the show that the bartenders put on, mixing cocktails with flair and personality to keep the crowd entertained. With those theatrics, you don’t need to order anything complicated: A simple espresso martini made with Zacapa Rum comes with an elaborate pour you’ll want to have your camera ready for." - Matthew Meltzer

It’s Manhattan Season — Here’s Where to Order One Around Tampa This February | Eater

"If the name has you expecting a gin bar that shows reruns of TV shows long-gone, you’ll be sorely disappointed. But if you expect a boisterous, good looking crowd imbibing under antler chandeliers and colorful modern art, you’ll be delighted. The Gin Joint is the kind of downtown gathering space where you’ll find lingering office happy hours at booths next to couples on third dates and beginning-of-the-night bachelorette parties. The drinks are the most elevated in the neighborhood, offering high-end spirits and creative cocktails befitting the upper-scale crowd. Manhattans are always in order here, so you can’t go wrong with an Angel’s Envy Manhattan in February." - Matthew Meltzer

Went here last night for a bday celebration & it was such a good time. Very upscale & classy. Food was good, drinks were good, customer service was top notch. It is on the pricey side my total came to $70-80 for just me. Definitely special occasion for me. However I would return for sure! Dress to impress in my opinion, no flip flops, jeans etc. date night attire. They had live entertainment playing jazz. Joey was my server & he was phenomenal. Good job Gin Joint on a great overall experience!!

We recently celebrated a close friend’s birthday at Gin Joint in Tampa, and it was such a memorable evening! • Ambiance: The atmosphere is upscale yet cozy, with chic décor, moody lighting, and live entertainment that truly sets the vibe. The band and singers were phenomenal—energetic, soulful, and the perfect soundtrack for the night. • Service: Our servers were attentive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. They were quick with recommendations and ensured our group had everything we needed without ever rushing us. • Cocktails: Absolutely delicious! Each one was crafted beautifully, balanced, and worth savoring. This is definitely a spot for cocktail lovers. • Food: The dessert (crème brûlée with fresh berries and whipped cream) was heavenly, creamy, and perfectly caramelized on top. The lobster entrée, however, was the only disappointment—it looked stunning but unfortunately was overcooked, leaving it gummy and difficult to cut. I’m hopeful this was just a one-off issue, because everything else about the experience was top-tier. Overall, Gin Joint is an excellent choice for special occasions or a night out with friends. Between the live music, incredible cocktails, attentive service, and chic setting, it’s a place I’d love to return to—hopefully next time the lobster will be as perfect as the rest of the evening!

The ambiance is incredibly inviting—warm and relaxed with a laid-back lounge vibe. Lighting is dim yet plentiful, creating a cozy feel with comfortable couch seating. (One small downside: the tables are a bit high for the couches.) As for the food and drinks—I genuinely enjoyed them! The pasta was especially tasty. And duck !! Love music creates a vibe. Valet parking is available, which adds a nice touch of convenience.

Had dinner at The Gin Joint and really enjoyed it! The food and drinks were both good, and the atmosphere was lively with great live music. The service was friendly and attentive. The only downside was being seated at a high table with a couch, which wasn’t very comfortable. Overall, a fun place for dinner and drinks!

We arrived around 630 pm on a Saturday. All tables were reserved, it was standing room at the bar, but found seats quickly. You can order food from the bar, but if possible make reservations for a table. On this night, we only had drinks but others at the bar ordered from the kitchen. The food looked delicious and others seem to enjoy their selections I had the French 75 and a Caipirinha cocktails. Yes, they used a cachaca rum for the Caipirinha 😉.The drinks are approximately $15 per cocktail. But this is average pricing for the Tampa area. A bonus, the Gin Joint doesn’t water down drinks. In addition, their selection appears to be all top shelf. For my next visit, I’ll try the gin & tonic flight. Don’t like gin? No worries their bar has a variety of spirits & wine.

Google
We had a great experience sitting at the bar. We went on a weeknight around 6 pm. It wasn't too crowded but as the night went on, it got increasingly busy. Renee our bartender was informative and attentive. I had the filet mignon and it was perfectly cooked - med rare. Hubby had the huge pork chop. And he ate the whole thing! We loved it so much we went back the next night for drinks and appetizers.

Google
If I could give 6 stars I would. Honestly the best dining experience I’ve had since I moved here a few years ago. The food was fantastic, the hostess was great, and service at the bar was great (shout out Renee). Roger, the manager, had on a vest that could make a nun fall in love. Just a great time. Definitely will be back.

Wonderful place for a date night. Great music and service. Food that I tried was just ok. I had the shrimp and grits.Their chocolate cake dessert needs improvement. My Mom's fish and grits was better.

Yelp
Wow! This restaurant was a 10 out of 10. From the moment you walk in you feel the ambience and the vibes. The decor and the artwork in there really set the tone for an amazing dinner and the jazz music... Which is live seals the deal. Our waitress, Issa, was absolutely stellar. I was there celebrating a birthday so good service was a plus. We ordered the crab dip, the scallop pasta, the half chicken meal, and the risotto. The star of the show was the pasta with the scallops. But then, after dinner we ordered the poundcake and honestly, I would go back just for that. Great food, great music, and the location was also great. Be sure to valet as the on Street parking was about $35 and the valet was only $15.

Yelp
Positives: ambiance (decor, music) and wine (ordered a red blend, everyone at the table enjoyed it). Negative: the food was mediocre and inaccurately described. Before ordering my entree, I asked if the sweet potato side dish was a regular sweet potato or if it was mixed with other ingredients. I was told the sweet potato was mixed with a brown sugar glaze. I asked if the sweet potato could be cooked plain, and if yes I would go with that entree. The waiter said he would check. When he returned, he said the sweet potatoes were premade with the brown sugar glaze, and asked if I would like a side of yams instead. I asked if the yams were just plain yams, nothing else, he said yes. When the food arrived, the yams were actually a puree, mixed with green beans and drowning in butter. The waiter seemed nonplussed when I shared that the side dish was not as described. No alternative was offered, so I just ate the chicken which was mediocre. Overall this was dismaying especially because had the dish been accurately described I would have ordered something else entirely and maybe that other dish would have been better.

Yelp
If you had to describe CW's Gin Joint in one word, it would have to be "classy." Low lighting, live jazz, comfortable seats, friendly and efficient service, clubby atmosphere (in the best sense) -- it's the kind of place you want to linger at, probably over a gin and tonic. And, yes, the gin selection is amazing. If you're a gin drinker, it's paradise, and if you're not, they might just be able to convert you: gin's not-so-well-kept secret is that it's a great mixer. The drinks here are top-notch, down to the presentation. (It's the kind of place that serves you Coke in a big wine glass, so it still feels special.) It's not just a gin joint, though -- the food's top-notch, too. On my second visit, I had the grouper, poached in wine and then broiled to get the skin crispy; on a previous visit, I had the pork chop, which was good then but is, based on a companion's entree the second time around, now great, brined in sweet tea. (I'm not sure how you even make a sweet tea brine!) All the sides are good, too, even if one companion thought the green beans were a little too al dente. (I liked them as is.) The dessert I had, a bourbon vanilla pound cake, was also fantastic. I'll definitely be back, probably to try the gin flight -- just not on a night I'm driving any time soon after.

Yelp
This was my first time here. The decor was immaculate and the vibes were out of this world. Came to celebrate a friend and her birthday and she reserved the area behind the band, it was such an amazing time. The drinks were strong and delicious and we ordered a charcuterie board that was also delicious. Our server was not the most attentive but other than that, I would still come back. I heard the happy hour is awesome here and I will definitely be back to experience it.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance. We came in early so we didn't need a reservation for the bar area. Service was helpful and it was all around good vibes. Drinks were delicious and I could see myself coming here again when I'm back in town. Since this was our first stop of the evening, we shared the chargrilled octopus and it was perfection

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Service, food and ambiance is TOP TIER! I get the same thing every time the Lobster Mac and cheese and the fried artichokes. This time I added in the panko eggplant and it was amazing. I always go and get drinks and split apps with my mom and we love it! This is a great place to stop at before going to the Tampa Theater. It's so pretty inside and the staff is always friendly.

Yelp
I love this place. I love the vibe. I love the drinks. The food is amazing! They had live music which was also wonderful. The filet was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had such an excellent experience and I will be back!

Yelp
I came here a few years ago for a birthday but hadn't been back until recently. The drinks were delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night or fun night out with friends. Their espresso martini was delicious. I didn't try the food and you definitely need a reservation as the place fills up with and there really is no seating without

Yelp
In downtown Tampa is a unique speakeasy- Ambience is perfect here, great drinks and amazing live music! Perfect date night spot or night out with the girls.

Yelp
Decent experience here at Gin Joint. I've been here several times before mainly for the bar. The vibe of the restaurant is always great, and their band is always on point!!! I've previously had their Oysters Rockefeller from their former menu and wasn't that impressed, but I figured I'd give the food another try. Came here with friends as I had a few fly into town. The drinks were wonderful (as expected) I had the Bee's Knees for the first time, and I think I've found a new favorite! My friends also enjoyed their drinks. For the table, we ordered Hush Puppies, Oysters, and the Crab Dip. I wasn't a huge fan of the crab dip as it was too liquid-y for me. The oysters were decent and the hush puppies were very good. I had the Caesar salad for my entree. It had a distinct flavor, very Anchovy forward, but it was still edible. My friend ordered the Scallop Linguine, but was not satisfied. She felt as though it wasn't seasoned enough to her liking. Our waiter was amazing though, he offered to comp the meal, but she declined because she decided take it home to modify. Even before that he was great. Very prompt and he was actually the one that recommended the Bee's Knees drink. The food is really a hit or miss, but if you're looking for a place with wonderful live music and delicious drinks, I'd definitely recommend coming here!!!

Yelp
My husband and I had been to CW's Gin Joint in the past for drinks. However tonight we decided to do dinner and drinks along with friends. For drinks he got a gin old fashioned and I got an espresso martini. Both drinks were superb! The gin old fashioned was very unique in flavor and had the right sweetness balance. The espresso martini was very flavorful and strong. We both got a starter: the local greens salad and fried oysters. I don't eat shellfish but my husband thoroughly enjoyed his oysters. The local greens salad was excellent. It was full of toppings like avocado, garbanzo beans, and sun-dried tomatoes. The honey vinaigrette dressing was yummy. I added a little honey dijon dressing and it was perfect. They had a surf and turf special which came with an 8 oz filet mignon, scallops, and mashed potatoes. My husband ordered that and couldn't stop raving about his dinner. I ordered the mushroom risotto. It was spectacular. The flavors were great and I love almost anything with truffle added. To polish off our meal we shared the Lola's Chocolate Cake. It was pretty tasty. A tad dry but overall great flavor and not overly sweet. Our waiter Logan was very attentive from start to finish. He was informative when explaining menu items and he made sure we had a great time. This was our friend's first time here. They loved the vibe of the place. The artwork is eye catching but the band that was performing really set the tone for the night. They played jazzy renditions of popular songs from the 90s/2000s. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back again.
google avatar

Cristina P.

Yelp
This hidden spot feels like stepping into the 1920s; super cool vibe with vintage decor and a live band giving old songs a jazzy twist. Drinks were amazing! You can tell the bartenders really know what they're doing. Solid wine list too. Food-wise, the Lobster Mac and Cheese is a must. Local greens salad with honey dressing was my favorite , and the Brussels sprouts hit the spot. The baked Oysters were just okay--probably wouldn't get them again. I would recommend ordering tapas style to try a lot of variety! This spot is worth checking out if you're into specialty cocktails and fun atmosphere!

Yelp
The setting for this restaurant and full bar is a prohibition speakeasy/ jukebox joint. The decor is bold and fluid. The staff is attentive, gave great recommendations and timely with their table checks and follow-up. The food and drinks were excellent. Their specialty drinks are gin-based, but they also have a great collection of bourbons, tequilas and vodkas. Plan on staying awhile if you get the 24 oz ribeye. The seafood pasta is a must! The snapper catch of the day was good as well. Get a bread plate, the olive flight and the pork belly as appetizers. Everything comes out perfect except the okra. For dessert, we had the Bananas Foster. They did not fire it tableside, but it was very good.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place! From the time we walked in until we left it was an amazing experience. Very nice atmosphere and ambiance. There was no live music the day that we went, but it was still a nice vibe. Our server was amazing and attentive! The food was really good! My steak was cooked perfectly and well done. The drinks were on point! I have nothing but great things to say about this spot! I believe the bar is walk up, so I liked that. I thought it by reservation only, but now that I know I can just drop in for a quick drink and bite.

Yelp
I loved the intimate atmosphere, lighting, the decor... All of it was a great mood for the evening. We went for girls night and had a great time! They had live music and kitchen was open till 12. The staff was friendly and made sure to keep checking back on us. We did make a reservation before beforehand. The food was good. We got the angel eggs appetizer, which was different but it was delicious. I had the octopus and fried artichoke both delicious!
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
Great place with amazing service! Joey was so informative and I was impressed he knew all our drinks without writing them down! I had the shrimp bisque and so delicious! Definitely be back when in Tampa!!

Yelp
Came in to get Justin's signature drink, the Spoonbill Special and his "brother" Derrick was working and made me a great drink.

Yelp
Imagine a place that loves gin so much that they put it in the name of the place. CW's Gin Joint has been around a few years indeed and remains a popular spot for drinks, food and being seen. The entrance is grand and classy and when they open the doors to let you in, you feel like you go back in time, to a swanky glitzy club in the Prohibition times. Crystal chandeliers, well-dressed servers and bartenders, great entertainment and a bustling crowd. The bar area can be very busy with folks, the lounge area in the center of the space is nothing short of enviable, with plush couches and communal seating areas. I usually get seated on the left side, with the tables. No worries, they are terrific for people watching, one of my favorite activities. The cocktails are stellar. From basic to ones to beverages you've never dreamed of, they can seemingly do it all. ESPECIALLY if it's a gin drink. They have SO many gin varieties and they will educate you on gin and it's nuances if you so desire. See, gins are all differently infused so one may be great in a dry martini while another would be awful. I've also had food at CW's gin joint and it is very good. My favorite menu item is the dessert Il Flotante. No one else makes it and it's heavenly.
google avatar

Gail D.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our evening here. We had come from a baseball game but they assured us we were dressed ok. Nice people watching. Drinks were fabulous. Decor is outstanding. Service was exceptional even though they were busy.

Yelp
This place has live music, good food, and the service is good! I recommend making reservations! Fridays and Saturdays are the best days to go and this is a group atmosphere.

Sandra F.

Yelp
Great experience from entry to exit! The decor is over-the-top speakeasy in a good way. We had made early reservations (recommended) for 5:30 which is a good time to go. NOT a noisy restaurant...easy to converse without yelling. Lots to look at, incredible bar and our waiter - Joey - was 5-star. He had them put together the best martini I've ever had. My husband's filet was done perfectly...which the server had him check before leaving the table to make sure it was perfect...and it had an enhance flavor we couldn't place but was wonderful. I had the fried oysters...good but very small so a double order would serve better for dinner. We've already recommended the Joint as a "must go" to 2 Tampa residents who've thought about going but never have. If you're anywhere near Tampa, go. 633 N Franklin Street; Tampa
google avatar

Jenna D.

Yelp
Every time we visit Tampa, The Gin Joint is our must-stop spot. The atmosphere is unmatched--smooth blues and jazzy tunes set the tone the moment you walk in. The vibe is classy and intimate, and the crowd definitely dresses the part, adding to the speakeasy feel. The cocktails? Next level. Thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and full of character--just like the place itself. We tried a few different drinks and were blown away by the attention to detail in both the flavor and presentation. On top of all that, the service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about creating a great experience. This place checks every box and then some. Whether you're a local or just in town for a visit, do yourself a favor and make time for The Gin Joint.

Yelp
We walked in on a Wednesday after visiting a family member in a hospital and to celebrate our 41st anniversary. Since we didn't have a reservation we were told to sit at the bar. When we entered the bar was mostly unoccupied and there were many, many tables also unoccupied. Since they obviously didn't want our patronage we decided to leave and patronize a friendlier establishment. We checked their site and an open reservation was available! Go figure!
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
Had another networking event here, first off, Joey our waiter was incredible. He was so knowledgable on the menu, different gins, and knew how to best guide us in our tasting. The inside is super dim and moody, it's a great ambiance for an intimate date night or a small group gathering. I think that's the only thing my group (20+) had trouble with. We were sat in 3 huge lounge tables in the middle and because the party was so big, we had a $375 per table minimum (not sure if we hit that but just so you know!) I would absolutely come back here to 1 try more gins w the gin and tonic flight, and eat more of the bread plate, and try other dishes! We had the ribeye and fries. The flavor was amazing, there were some fatty bits all over but we just ate around that as I'm not a huge fan of the texture. But this was a very high-end experience and it's a place you can treat yourself if you 1) love gin 2) like bougie energy. They also have a lot in front for $15 parking or valet service for $10
google avatar

Yelp
Rude security guards! While waiting for my guest to arrive, I sat at a little side table with 2 chairs. Not even 30 seconds of sitting there the security guard, Herb, asked me if I had a reservation. I replied that I didn't and was just waiting for someone and he made a point that the table was reserved with their sign on the table. Mind you this place was close to closing within an hour and a half and there weren't many people around. Most of the people were at the bar and only a few tables with guests eating. Herb, told me I could wait at the bar. I said my guest is lost and coming any minute. He again tried to push me off to the bar and said yea and you can wait for them at the bar, getting a rude tone with me and hovering over me made me feel so uncomfortable. I just was sitting there for about 2 minutes and he could have just been understanding and let me sit! He almost ruined my experience here before even eating. Asked someone I thought could help me get a table but waited and nothing happened for a while. I went to check if a table was available in this empty restaurant and I guess I spoke to the security there that did not want to relay the message. Said something like I could go ask myself because it's not their job to tell the host that was working right in front next to them. Rude security once again. Still trying to eat here... I went out the doors to the host stand to get a table. What a huge ordeal here and I haven't even ordered anything yet! Finally got sat and had dinner. Deviled eggs was the best part here. Dessert was terrible. Drink was soso. Table server was good but so much damage has been done already here to make my experience terrible. Will not be coming back
google avatar

Yelp
The vibe upon entering the doors gives off a modern-day jazz super club from the bar set-up, interesting decor, and unique drink and menu items. The service was superb, in where our server took the time to explain the menu as well as make very delectable suggestions such as the crispy fried with aioli and the assorted angeled eggs for starters. For an entree, I decided to go with the house-made seafood pasta - served with shrimp, handmade pasta, saffron cream, and spicy crispy shallots was beyond delicious. The live music and amazing singers added to an enjoyable ambiance while enjoying our dinner. Hands down, I rate my experience 10/10 and can't wait to return.

Yelp
Been to the gin joint a few times & usually just sit at the bar and have some great drinks. I had a cousin visit from out of town & decided to take her to Gin Joint. We were luckily able to get a table once we got there which was nice because we had trouble booking a table online since it said reservations weren't available, which I thought was odd since it was a Wednesday night. First time having dinner here and though this spot as expected is on the high end/pricey side, was totally worth the cost. The professional and classy service, the beautiful old school Great Gatsby type of ambiance, and the quality of the food and drinks were all just top tier. My sisters, cousin, & I truly enjoyed. I look forward to going back. FYI Friday and weekend nights it can get crowded and may be different requirements to enter as well as dress code.

Yelp
I went to this place multiple times and always had a good time and good cocktails The staff always care about all the customers

Yelp
Since attending a birthday dinner at Gin Joint last year, I always wanted to go again but could never find a reservation. Last night, my friend and I decided to go and sit at the bar. Although there's a parking garage across the street, we used the valet service for $10. The restaurant was busy for a Thursday but we managed to sit. They had live music with 2 amazing singers. The bartender, Justin, was awesome and made my 2 drinks to perfection. We didn't have dinner, just appetizers, and both the Truffle purple potatoes and the eggplant fries were delicious. We had such a great time with good music, delicious drinks and appetizers, and excellent crowds. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
CW Gin Joint is hands down one of my favorite spots in Tampa. It's like stepping into a secret club where the drinks are as smooth as the vibes. I always go in with a plan--"I'll just order one drink"--and leave wondering how I'm on cocktail number three. Blame it on Roger. If Roger's behind the bar, do yourself a favor and ask for anything with Uncle Nearest. I don't know what magic he works, but it's always exactly what I need. And if you're a fan of a Clover Club like me, they nail it every single time--perfectly frothy and dangerously delicious. The ambiance? Dim and chill, but never dull. It's the kind of place that whispers "Stay awhile" while Koya's smooth tunes pull you in even deeper. Her and her husband's live performances? Pure gold. I swear, the drinks taste better when they're on stage. CW Gin Joint is classy without being pretentious, fun without being rowdy--basically, the perfect vibe for when you want to feel fancy and a little tipsy. Go see Roger, sip a Clover Club, and enjoy the music.

Yelp
Any time I visit I always have an incredible time. From the food to the cocktails you can tell the staff take time for the best experience possible. I always love that I can just tell the bartenders my taste or preference and they curate a cocktail to match. The live music and feeling you have is very relaxed with a fine dining spin. The fried artichoke was delicious and the cowboy ribeye is to die for with the caper lemon butter sauce.

Han R.

Yelp
This is a great place. Our friends took us there in the spur of the moment. The place was very busy but we found seats at the bar. Cocktails were great and I highly recommend the duck confit. The live music was excellent but not so loud that it made conversation impossible. In short, a great bar/restaurant with an excellent ambiance and outstanding food. However, given how busy the place was, we also recommend that you make a reservation.

Yelp
Without too much background, we were in the area and decided to drop into CW's Gin Joint in Tampa. I knew before we got there that there were no tables available, but, fortunately, they serve food for patrons at the bar, too. We were immediately greeted by Roger who asked me what I wanted. I had a plan. McQueen and the Violet Fog (because I've never had it). They were out. "What is your go to gin?" Immediately, I freeze up. I don't have a 'go-to' because I'm constantly trying new gins where possible. My wife pipes up with "Just find him something obscure." A few moments later, he's back with Gracias a Dios Recela Oaxaqueña. My wife ordered the Peaches Be Crazy. It comes back looking absolutely spectacular and it tasted even better than it looked. We ordered the pork belly appetizer with Renee. Roger comes back with Strange Nature from New Zealand and gives me a sample. After we ordered our entrees, I ordered a neat Conniption Navy Strength. The craziest 24 hours of my life involved a Conniption Navy Strength gin & tonic, but I've never experienced it neat. Now I have. My wife ordered the French 75 and it was delightful. Renee knows her stuff and is exceptionally professional. The couple next to us ordered a flight that included McQueen's Ultraviolet. My wife asked if we could sample that, so we did. With dessert, 5 new-to-us gins, and parking, it was quite an expensive evening. Could we have gotten away with less? Probably, but it would've diminished the experience. And this place is an experience. TL; DR: It was completely worth every penny to get to try different gins with outstanding food and service.

What a gem of a place!! Great ambiance with a roaring 20's feel, and the service was amazing. Jennifer really knew her stuff and we'll be asking for her personally next time we come which we hope to be soon. The food was ok, but overall lacked salt/seasoning. The drinks were amazing!!!

Yelp
Never a bad time when I come here, but last night was just ::chef's kiss:: I had the pleasure of Logan and Nemma taking care of us! The food and ambience was AMAZING! We also had Chef Lola come to our table and see how our night, food, and service was doing! A+ Gin Joint! You're always on the roster!

Yelp
Gorgeous venue (although some of the artwork on the wall was a little unsettling). Unsurprisingly, the gin cocktails were outstanding. Their gin matrix was really helpful--not only for the dining experience, but for making selections for gin anywhere else as well. The food was tasty and presented beautifully, and the service was attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Gin Joint is fantastic! It's the perfect place to go for a night out with a variety of drinks, foods, and desserts to choose from! I would advise you to make a reservation because it does get very busy. On certain days, they have live music and it is such a good time! Everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves! I will say, it's important to plan ahead for parking because Downtown Tampa's parking does require some waking and it does get a little busy inside. Reserving a table helps to ensure that you will have a table and space for you and your party. The service has always been wonderful! The waitstaff is knowledge about the menu and able to provide suggestions. My favorite menu items are the Purple Rain (Vodka, Blueberry, Lemon) and the Coconut Crème Brûlée. The last time we went, our lovely server recommended a delicious drink that I cannot recall the name of (picture attached to this review). It was so sweet and refreshing! Perfect for what I want in my drink! I hope you have a chance to enjoy this treasure if you find yourself in Downtown Tampa! Overall, The Gin Joint is always a wonderful and fun experience! Happy Eating!!

Yelp
Tricky review because the drinks and service were easily five stars plus! However, the food was a two at best. For appetizers we had the eggplant fries and short ribs, neither wowed us. I did enjoy my greens of salad, but my husband thought it was overly saturated with the dressing. I agree, it could've been less wet. I had the mahi special and it was low in flavor all around. He had the seafood pasta and it was also lacking in flavor. Our friends had the soup as well as the Cuban sandwich and both said they were fine, but nothing over the moon. Tropical banana fosters was good easily a four out of five . Coconut crème brûlée was also really good, probably also a five. I would definitely go here if you just want a great place to have a drink or a drink and a dessert. I wouldn't recommend going here for a meal. I will speak to the drinks again, they were fabulous, perfectly mixed, really top shelf, and well done.

Yelp
If you're looking for a unique place that is amazing all around, you need to check out Gin Joint. Every time I've gone, I've had an incredible experience. The food, the drinks, the service, has always been top notch. I love going when the live jazz band is playing because it feels like I'm being transported to another era and another city- it's truly a great vibe. I always ask the waiters or bartenders for recommendations on food and drinks and have never been disappointed with any of the suggestions or anything I've ordered, so make sure you swing by and check them out. You won't be disappointed either!

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. Amazing environment, there was a live piano player during our dinner who was wonderful. Great bar and cocktails. The short rib dish was amazing. What a beautiful dining room with chandeliers everywhere. Definitely make a reservation for dinner. We went for dinner before going to a show at the Straz, it's close enough to walk to.

Yelp
It's been 2 years since our last visit to CW Gin Joint, brought some friends because we've been raving about it. Drinks were made well, strong mostly fast too! Appetizers were phenomenal just as we remembered them to be. Charcuterie board, artesian bread board and pork belly was a hit! When our entrees came out, we were disappointed due to the size of the plates being much smaller than we remembered. Also unfortunately had to send the pork chop back because it just wasn't worth the price.

Yelp
Again...I ask myself...why haven't I been going here on a regular basis? Such a cute spot for cocktails, a date, a special occasion, or a girl's night. We went last Saturday and had a blast! The cocktails were AMAZING. We came after dinner, so we didn't try any food, but everything looked delicious. The service was impressive, and the decor was like the roaring 20's meets 2024. There was also a live band doing covers of familiar songs from different genres. People were out there dancing and really just having a wonderful time. We will definitely be back! CW's Gin Joint is truly delightful in every way.

Yelp
I came here with a few ladies for a Valentine's Day gathering. First and foremost the inside of this restaurant bar is beautiful it gives a very dark, artistic ambience. We had a few appetizers which included Portobello fries, artichoke hearts, fried okra, and a charcuterie board. I recommend getting the artichoke hearts and the board. Those were our favorite appetizers of the table. The endive salad is good however make sure you are an endive fan as it can be an acquired taste. The drinks were phenomenal. I had the Paloma, and it was very good and tasty. The shrimp and scallop pasta was good. However, the scallops were a little small, so keep that in mind when ordering. The braised short ribs over a bed of mashed potatoes were very good. I recommend that one. Overall, this place is a nice restaurant and very pretty inside. The food is OK and the drinks are great.

Yelp
What a cool place! Amazing service from Isabella at the bar. I had the pork chop and tasted my friend's rib eye. Another friend had the catch of the day. All were amazing. Good wine list, bleu cheese olives, and tasty Caesar salad. Isabella was lovely enough to let us try a couple tastings of gin and wine to determine which we wanted. Definitely worth trying especially if you're staying in Downtown Tampa!

Yelp
My favorite spot to dine and consume libations before a straz, tampa theatre or Amalie arena event. Best cocktail menu in tampa. I have a few favorites. My top 3 "what season is it" sweet with and frothy with egg whites. The classic old fashioned and french 75 are great here too. Food: I highly recommend the shrimp bisque. With sherry and topped with big pieces of shrimp. The charcuterie is also a favorite. Good selection of Cheeses, meats, nuts and honey. I recommend street parking or parking at a nearby parking garage. Service was excellent, very knowledgeable of the menu.

Yelp
Gin Joint is the perfect place for a special occasion dinner. When you walk in you're transported into a prohibition era-style restaurant: dark, with chic art on the walls, 70s style live music, and a big bar selection. Our server, Maria, was friendly and even remembered my girlfriend and her parents from last time and we had been there. She always checked on us right when we needed and seemed to know exactly what drinks we would want based on how we described what we were in the mood for. To start, we got all three types of oysters. My favorites were the raw and grilled, with Rockefeller style oysters as my third choice. We also got the fried okra and eggplant fries, both of which were excellent. We tried some of the cocktails and all of them were great! For entrees, I shared the bolognese pasta with my gf and it was delicious. The highlight of the entrees was the grouper that was a special that night, we got to try it from one of the other people with us who ordered it. We enjoyed the live music and it was a perfect volume, allowing us to enjoy the music but still talk without yelling to each other. Overall, Gin Joint was a 10/10 experience. It will stay at the top of my list of restaurants in Tampa!

Yelp
Where to be-gin Boy am I a sucker for great food and even better cocktails....especially when they're gin-based. Hung out in Tampa the other day and before heading out and I grabbed some drinks and snacks here. It's been on the radar for a while but we drove past and like a little school girl I shouted we needed to stop! The atmosphere is top-notch. Laid-back sophistication with a jazzy vibe that's totally swoon-worthy. We sat at the bar since we didn't plan on doing a full dinner and the bartender was incredible. He chatted with us about gin and what we liked, he made me a few libations with gins I haven't had before and now can't wait to have again. I wish we had more of an appetite because the food blew me away. We munched on some apps and I got myself some raw oysters...because how do you pass those up!? The Angeled Eggs were oddly exceptional. Not that I expected them to be bad, but I don't think it's often that you can say your deviled eggs were part of an elevated dining experience. We also got the olive board and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes, even at the nicest spots, charcuterie, and olive boards can be lackluster. These were pretty damn good and their bread was surprisingly top-level. There was nothing that fell short throughout the experience. It was honestly one of the best places we've been to food, service, and ambiance-wise in a long time. 10 thumbs up I'm already stoked to plan another date night out there to get the full dining experience. But for now I'll be dreaming of gin and tonics

Yelp
Just adding more pics from a Saturday evening at 930pm, it was crowded. Again, call for reservations, otherwise it's standing behind bar only
