The Best Birthday Cake Delivery In London - London - The Infatuation

"Arrival time: same-day delivery depending on London postcode and opening times, or next-day delivery for other areas The Hummingbird Bakery is something of a destination for those obsessed with sweet treats and taking snaps of sweet treats. The South Kensington cafe—they also have locations in St John’s Wood, Victoria, Notting Hill, and Spitalfields—is packed with more fuschia surfaces than your average baby girl gender reveal calamity. And the cakes follow suit with colourful frosting and plenty of red velvet options. If you’re really looking to kick-start a sugar rush, get involved in the rainbow candy-filled piñata cake. " - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Rianne Shlebak

The Hummingbird Bakery - Review - South Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"The Hummingbird Bakery is something of a destination for those obsessed with sweet treats and taking snaps of sweet treats. The South Kensington cafe—they also have locations in Notting Hill and Spitalfields—is packed with more fuschia surfaces than your average baby girl gender reveal calamity and the cakes follow suit with colourful frosting and plenty of red velvet options. There is some casual seating and a couple of tables out front but we prefer to grab some macarons and a cupcake and take our sweet treats on a romantic stroll to one of the local parks. You should know there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options too." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

"The Hummingbird Bakery landed in Notting Hill in early 2004 to become the home of quality American baking in London. Today it has five branches across the city—in Soho, South Kensington, Spitalfield, and Islington in addition to the original in Notting Hill—and is famed the world over for its delicious cupcakes and other sweet treats and desserts."

I was invited to try a selection of cupcakes and treats at The Hummingbird Bakery in South Kensington. I’d just visited the V&A Museum and was definitely ready for some cake. I popped in with a friend and we sampled the famous Red Velvet cupcake, which truly lives up to the hype, along with the Oreo cupcake, a brownie, and a slice of lemon cake, all delicious. We also tried the birthday cookie, which was super sweet and fun. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the products. There isn’t much seating inside, but there are a few small tables outside with a little railing separating you from the pavement, which makes it a nice spot to stop for a treat. Everything is beautifully presented in their signature pink boxes, making it perfect for takeaway or as a lovely gift. Definitely worth popping in after a museum visit for something sweet.

A small and quaint bakery. I often order cupcakes for take out here. The cupcakes are packaged very well, nice and secure for the entire trip home. The cupcakes themselves were alright for the price, and I would recommend the salted caramel cupcakes for anyone with a sweet tooth; the caramel filling was amazing for me (although frosting tasted a bit too salty). I once ordered a delicious Easter brownie from the store, though the packaging was not extremely suitable for takeaway and storage. Overall, I do enjoy visiting just to treat myself every once in a while, but the cakes are not amazing enough for me to order an entire birthday / celebration cake from the store.

I ordered two cupcakes from Hummingbirds outside of the striking appearance I think we can all agree the top half of cupcakes completely outshine the bottom half and that’s the only downer, it gets a bit dry on the bottom end, and that goes for all cupcakes produced (not targeting any specific brands). However, the selling point of a cupcake is the top half and The Hummingbird Bakery has multiple appealing options it’s tough to select one. If you are someone who has a sweet tooth similar to me It’s worth a shot.

5 out 5 would be best ever. This was great but not best ever. Would definitely return for more deserts when nearby. Visited recently and service was friendly and fast. Purchased a brownie and whoopie pie. Deserts were yummy and very happy with our purchase. Wouldn’t travel just for these but if I’m in the area would be happy to try other things.

One of the best red velvet cakes I’ve ever eaten! I bought a vegan red velvet cupcake and a slice of regular red velvet cake—the sweetness was perfect and the frosting was incredible! The cake was moist and delicious, though it was a bit pricey. I'd prefer getting a small red velvet cake from M&S for a similar taste at a better price!

Shambolic! Ordered a birthday cake and they managed to spell the person's name wrong! E-mailed to complain, not even an apology back. The cake itself was ordinary at best - for an £80 cake it should be top notch. Would highly recommend avoiding unless you are after a very awkward moment during a birthday party!!

I don’t know what kind of red velvet cake this was supposed to be, but it certainly wasn’t the moist, rich dessert I was expecting. The texture was dry—like it had been sitting out for days—and every bite felt like chewing on sweetened cardboard. Red velvet is supposed to be indulgent and velvety (it’s in the name!), but this was a flavorless, crumbly mess. To make matters worse, it came with a ridiculous price tag that only added insult to injury. For what I paid, I expected at least a decent cake, not something that tastes like it was bought from a gas station and left in the sun. Save your money. This isn’t just a bad red velvet cake—it’s an overpriced, dry disappointment that doesn’t deserve a spot on any dessert table.
