On the Grid : Capital Espresso

"Part coffee shop, part artspace, Capital Espresso is a spot where you can grab a quick coffee or pull up a chair for hours. The cafe features different local artists’ work every month — and even has a coin-operated vending machine in the front of the shop so you can take some of it home with you. Their baristas are known not only for their impeccable coffee slinging skills (we recommend you try the espresso), but also for their killer music choices." - Format

This place is truly one of a kind and will always remain a pillar of the community. It’s where locals gather over coffee, share conversations, and enjoy a relaxing moment together. The atmosphere is always welcoming—everyone is greeted with kindness and never judged, no matter who they are. Alex and the staff are always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needs it, or an ear to lend. I will always support Alex and Capital! We love y'all! <3 Also, the carrot coconut muffin goes crazy! Go Les!!!!

The staff is very welcoming and amazing. I had a delightful chat with the person behind the counter and they were very friendly. I ordered an iced chai latte and they confirmed my preferences before making my drink. The price is also very reasonable. I did not sit down but the place was quiet and had cozy vibes. Highly recommend!

I've been coming to Capital since moving to the neighbourhood. This is one of those authentically unique cafe's that carry on the spirit of the neighbourhood: quality coffee, tasty food fare and best of all: an incredibly down to earth staff & clientele. There's an authentic rustic grit to the environment that offers a lovely charm to the vibe. The staff are always incredibly supportive and each add their own flare to the work day, beyond the music played in store alone! That newer guy with the red sun glasses, adore!

While there are more high end boutique cafes in the city, this one has been one of my top cafes to venture to. Its homey, its good quality and their staff and usual patrons are very approachable and relaxed. Its what you may find on a quiet street in Brooklyn. Make sure you try their homemade muffins. Also, their beans are fantastic!

16$ for a breakfast sandwich and an Iced americano. expensive for parkdale even in 2025. no price tags, menu board or itemized point of sale system to know how much each item was, the server with the red sunglasses was friendly but swore around kids when speaking to their coworker/boss. They also did not offer a receipt, the people were friendly but felt awkward to have to ask. The sandwiches also had fruit flies around, and even though I asked for it to be warmed up they still just handed it to me as is. Food was good, experience was not great. coffee was strong though

Best cortado I’ve had in Toronto and I try a new place every ten days. The muffins are also great, especially the berry marscapone. Relaxed atmosphere with a lot of queen west regulars. Fast for take away.

I really had a great morning here, the vibe, the music, the food, and the best place to start your day.

Love the place, service, and the coffee... Ordered a Cortado. Wow, amazing. The only problem was the long stairway down the basement when someone wanted to use the washroom, but other than love the place.
