Bouillon Chartier

Visited late (around 11pm) and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were flexible with seating and very welcoming despite the hour. The boeuf bourguignon was apotless – tender meat, rich sauce, proper comfort food. The green salad with frisée came with a tangy mustardy dressing, exactly as it should be. House wine by the carafe was honest and good value. And the bread crunchy and still warm. The atmosphere is very “Paris” – vintage drink advertisements on the walls, classic waiters in aprons, old-school charm without being kitschy. For the price, this is hard to beat. Clean toilets too, which isn’t always a given. Will return!

I'll just say I'm a bit disappointed as I tried Buillon Pigalle last night and that one was quite good. The duck was good (according to my boyfriend). The starters were mediocre at best but hey for the low prices what do you expect. The butcher's cut however... that was truly a disaster. I was a bit shy to say anything but it was more rare than medium. They didn't even ask how we wanted it cooked... And as you can see more than half of it was uneatable. 😭 The deserts were also quite weird tasting. Especially the mousse tasted extremely weird - not even a bit chocolate-y... I can say I left this place more hungry than satisfied. Also the server was super rushed and it seemed like he wanted us gone. I feel it is quite rude to see someone is still eating their meal and press for them to pay at the same time. I would understand if it was busy inside but more than half the tables were free. I would not come to this branch again. I would rather stick to Pigalle unfortunately.

The best Bouillon restaurant so far which I have patron. Much better than others with 30-50k reviews. Food are fantastic and service is top notch. Every meals are delicious and I can finally tasted the local French cuisine. Big kudo to the chiefs, waiters and owner to keep the standard. Not degraded due to popular tourist place like others

Affordable, quality French cuisine ! ✨ My experience at Bouillon Chartier was amazing!! I tend to backpack around the world and one of my hostel roommates recommended this restaurant for its quality and affordability (compared to the rest of Paris). My server was GREGORY and he was AMAZING!! He was very attentive, kind, and professional. I know very little about French cuisine, but Gregory gave me great recommendations for my meal along with drinks and dessert, and I was very happy. The meal was very delicious!! The prices are very affordable for Paris, but better yet the quality is truly superb! I’m happy I got to come to this restaurant and experience French cuisine 🎉 and thank you Greg for making my dinner memorable 😊 I will definitely come back!

Saw a long queue during lunch time and decided to join the crowd (FOMO). We got a seat after some wait and the place was crowded. Menu is pretty simple and my group ordered a fish and a duck. Food arrived pretty quick. Taste wise, its pretty normal. Verdict, you get value for money for the food here.

At 8pm on a Monday evening the restaurant was busy, with a lively atmosphere. We were quickly shown to a table and English menus provided. Food arrived promptly and overall I quite enjoyed the evening. We had a decent meal for a reasonable price, and what more do you need? I'd be quite happy to visit again when I am next in Paris.

As a dear friend put it- it’s simple and effective. From what I understand this place is an institution (since 1896). The food tasted simple but incredibly fresh. Even though nothing tasted incredible, it was special nonetheless.

We had a wonderful dinner at Bouillon Chartier! Our waiter Sam was absolutely fantastic – friendly, efficient, and made the whole experience even better. We tried escargots for the first time and loved them so much we ordered a second round. The duck was delicious, and the duck breast was truly exceptional. Desserts were authentic and solid, and the wine list offered very good choices at reasonable prices. A great place for a classic Parisian experience without breaking the bank!
