"Philadelphia natives Nick and Ben D’Allesandro wanted D’Als to be a casual shop with cold beer and handmade pizza, which is exactly what it has become for the Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood since opening in 2006. Diners can go for a classic meat lovers or head for one of the more unique — and tasty — options like the Beetnick topped with bacon, goat cheese, and golden beets. Best for: Fast, hot, and good local pizza" - Denise K. James

"D’Allesandro’s looks like the quintessential college town pizza parlor, but serves some sophisticated pies like the Get Gnarly with balsamic chicken, blue cheese, and spinach. There’s usually a special running, and you can typically find a coupon to make the pie even cheaper." - Erin Perkins

"This neighborhood pizza dive caters both college coeds with hangovers and South of Broad social climbers. With several kids between co-owners and brothers Nick and Ben, D’Al’s also keeps it real for families looking for a quick bite. Tiny customers can play with their own dough, while parents take advantage of the beer specials. A family that pizzas together, stays together. Pro parent tip: If your dinner guests fly south quickly, D’Al’s makes it easy to switch from dine-in to takeout." - Erin Perkins

"Available for carryout/delivery with online ordering or by phone at (843) 853-6337." - Erin Perkins

"I think the Saint Philip Street pizzeria might be the best ever in Charleston — the crew delivered dozens of pizzas to area grocery stores to give some comfort to essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. They provided boxes of slices to downtown stores and supplied each establishment with two supreme pizzas, two meat lover’s pizzas, two It’s Not Easy Being Green pizzas, two cheese pizzas, and two whole-sized cheesy breads. Someone suggested delivering to the Veggie Bin in a Facebook comment and the pizzeria said they would get to it that day. This isn’t the first time they’ve helped in a crisis: just last year they delivered pizzas to furloughed TSA agents at Charleston National Airport. The pizzeria is still available for home delivery or takeout as well." - Erin Perkins
