"This place makes simple boxes of poached chicken and rice that work great for a quick lunch or early weeknight dinner. The menu is small with only four options that swap out light and dark meat chicken and tofu, rice, and vegetables, so it can be as healthy as you want it to be, but we like the original with both white and dark meat and rice. "If you’re looking for something cheap, simple, quick, and all around good for lunch, Rooster & Rice is a solid choice. A full meal here will run you about $12, but you get twice as much food as pretty much anywhere else for the price. All you really need is the original, which gets you poached chicken, rice, cucumber, and a side of chicken broth. The habanero sauce you can get at the counter is good, but it’s nothing compared to the ginger, garlic, and soybean sauce that comes with your box." - will kamensky

"After reading this feature from the LA Team, I had to satisfy my craving for chicken and rice at Rooster and Rice. The mini Bay Area chain serves delicious khao mun gai with super tender chicken, cucumbers, and a really great ginger-garlic-chili sauce. The dish is Lenny Kravitz oversized scarf-level comfort, and inspires pleasant (and equally comforting) childhood flavor memories. "Rooster and Rice, a San Francisco-based fast food chain serving Thai-style chicken and rice, or khao mun gai, has set its sights on Texas with plans to open five locations in the DFW area in the next few years. The restaurant specializes in organic poached chicken served over fragrant jasmine rice, and garnished with cilantro, cucumber, chili, ginger, garlic and more, plus variations with brown rice, salad, or tofu. Founded in 2015, the company is now eyeing Dallas thanks to the metroplex’s growing Asian population and an increasing demand for quick-service Asian restaurants.
