On the Grid : Skaf’s Lebanese Cuisine

"If you like Mediterranean food, you’re in luck. If you like food, you’re in luck. Skaf’s is just downright good food and good people. Family owned and operated, the whole staff is super friendly and can recommend their favorite dishes. This place may be close to being on a weekly rotation for us. Although each item has merit, there are a couple crowd favorites. Every meal should include an order of the Baba Ghannouj, as Skaf’s has the best around. The Soujouk is outstanding and can’t be matched. All the meat is incredibly tender, with the steak being especially good. Finally, the spicy potatoes and the falafel are not to be missed. If you are in town and it isn’t Sunday or Monday, this is where you’re eating." - Forth + Back

The 19 Best Restaurants in Glendale, California | Eater LA

"The hospitality at family-owned Skaf’s Lebanese Cuisine makes it feel like the restaurant could be someone’s living room. One of the owners, Noura Skaf, is often found greeting guests at the front like they’re regulars, before showing them to a table. There’s no way to go wrong with the menu, but the best bet is to order a shawarma combo plate with salad, rice, and pita. Ordering hummus to start is never a bad idea, but make sure to save room for baklava for dessert. The family behind Skaf’s also owns Rockbird, a great fried chicken joint, just down the street." - Rebecca Roland

The 24 Best Mediterranean & Middle Eastern Restaurants In LA

"When it comes to great shawarma in LA, it doesn’t get more classic than Skaf’s. The tiny, order-at-the-counter Lebanese grill in North Hollywood has been operating for over two decades (they have locations in Glendale and Highland Park as well). Both the chicken and beef shawarma are equally good in our book, so just do what we do and get the mixed plate. Be sure to throw in a cabbage salad and some stuffed grape leaves, too—both are excellent. " - sylvio martins, brant cox, nikko duren

Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week | Eater LA

"Revisiting this Glendale classic reminded me why the Skaf family does Lebanese staples so well: excellent labneh, kibbeh, fattoush, falafel, and an ideal combination grill platter loaded with tawook skewers, kafta, and shish kebab, rice for two, pita, cabbage salad, and toum (order extra of the magical toum), with hummus making every pita scoop dreamy and perfectly cooked shish." - Eater Staff
