On the Grid : Andrews Cafe

"An original Formica cafe, this place is one of the last of a distant memory of what caff's used to be like. We recommend Set 3, white toast, and tea (the tea comes from an urn – very cool.)" - Kin

Superb Greasy Spoon Cafes for a Full English Breakfast Fry Up in London | Eater London

"Ignore the “restaurant” part — Andrew’s is a traditional cafe and has been for more than 60 years. In 2016, it made headlines after the site came under threat from property developers, before ITN journalists and regulars of the cafe came to the defence of its unifying presence in a diverse neighbourhood: “This is one of the last mixed inner-city neighbourhoods... Andrew’s is a truly eclectic mix, from TV to road sweeping, rich and poor mix easily.” Originally established by Italian brothers Lorenzo and Andrew, who ran the cafe for nearly five decades, Erdogan Garip is now in charge of Andrew’s, and he makes sure the classics sing. The set breakfast doesn’t disappoint, the tea is always hot and newsreader strong, and the jacket potatoes are pleasingly fluffy." - Josh Barrie

Best greasy spoon in London. I first came to Andrew's way back in 2015, when they were at some other premises nearby. I came here every few months and have fond memories of bumping into journalists, builders and everyday office folk all in one place. Still, returning for the first time in almost 10yrs, I was a bit nervous it'd be all different - it's been a while and it's moved to a new site just over the road. But I didn't need to worry. Well priced, good food, lovely staff. Great atmosphere. Places like this really don't exist in London anymore and it's a tragedy. Come visit Andrew's and keep it alive. It's a fantastic throwback to a time now gone.

want to appreciate Andrew’s Restaurant for something most places completely ignore — the effort they put into their online menu and photos. The way the dishes are presented online matches exactly what you get in real life. The images, the food names, the layout, the pricing… everything is placed perfectly and clearly. It’s obvious there’s a lot of back-end work behind this. Most restaurants throw random pictures online that don’t match the food, but here it’s done properly. When a customer checks Google, they can instantly understand what this place offers, what the dishes look like, what’s popular, and what the prices are. No confusion, no guesswork, no fake photos, no rocket science. The food itself is excellent, but the real standout is how professionally the restaurant is presented online. That level of clarity and honesty makes a huge difference, especially in a busy area where many restaurants don’t put this kind of effort. Great job to the team — this level of detail truly helps customers and deserves recognition

During my visit to London I had the chance to try their Full English Breakfast & it was amazing. Such love and care of the personal that felt like eating at a friend’s house. The tea was excellent & the place clean, cozy & quiet.

Google
Cane for breakfast and loved every minute, servers are lovely, Andy’s breakfast and the full English both fantastic - love that they come with coffee and toast. We also got bubble and squeak - well you have to. A definite thumbs up👍

Loved it. This is a really nice family run cafe. Nothing fancy, just solid food served with care, courtesy and a smile. Nice atmosphere and a spotless kitchen. I had a giant jacket potato for £7 but they do good burgers, all day breakfasts, omelettes and a few specials. All portions are man sized!! Plus they don't charge service. Definitely worth a visit if you want a simple home cooked meal.

Every now and then you find a place that just gets it right in every way. They are so warm and friendly in here. A really nice energy and atmosphere. Appreciate your customers and they’ll keep coming back, and in turn - make a good living and live a great life. - so many other places don’t understand this simple principle! The food was exceptional. Really tasty and a true homage to the classic London greasy spoon. I always feel that if bubble and squeak is on the menu at a cafe, you’re in for a winner. Also if you love proper bread, none of that cheap stuff, then this is your place. I loved how the menu was designed in a way that you have lots of set options but you could make up your own breakfast easy. A true gem and a credit to London.

I can't even begin to express how much I would love to give those Benedict eggs a perfect 5/5 simply for the sheer amount of veggies that come on the side. The portions are incredibly generous and the food is absolutely delicious.

went alone and sat down, my smoothie was delicious and came within 2 mins of ordering, i got a 7item breakfast which came within 10mins and it was so yum - the woman (ithink the managers wife?) was so lovely, and the price was so good for what it was, esp in london. def coming back!!
