Just ate at India's Restaurant. We ordered papadum, aloo samosa, aloo paratha, aloo gobi, and mixed tandoori. plus a beer and a soft drink. Our 1st waiter brought the beer and papadum. So far so good.
But then the 1st waiter brought the tandoori entree. No appetizers or paratha bread.
Then, waiter #2 took over our table, though waiter #1 was still there. Waiter #2 brought the aloo gobi entree and we realized these guys weren't communicating and waiter #2 didn't know that waiter #1 hadn't brought us our appetizer and paratha bread. I asked where our samosas were and where our bread was, and waiter #2 pointed to my appetizer plate with tamarind sauce on it, accusing me of having gotten and eaten the samosa already.
We told waiter#2 that the plate was used for the papadum, and he left, without apologizing. Shortly after that, waiter #2 brought the samosas and paratha, again, with no apology. Both the samosa and paratha were fine. The aloo gobi was ok. The tandoori was spice-less though we had ordered it medium spicy. When waiter #2 asked how everything was, I said the tandoori wasn't spicy at all, and waiter $2 brought us some spicy sauce to try to remedy the spice-less tandoori.
Waiter #1 then brought a clamshell so we could take leftovers home, and then waiter #2 asked if we needed another clamshell and gave the check to my husband. I paid the check. I explained to waiter #2 why I was undertipping: the food was brought in the wrong order, and I was accused of lying about food I had ordered and didn't get.
When we left, waiter #2 held the door for us and apologized. I commented that the man doesn't always pay, and in fact I was the one who paid the check. He said "it doesn't matter," I guess meaning as long as someone pays. Yes, but offending customers isn't good business.
