"Among the dives and breweries dotting Georgetown’s industrial landscape is Ciudad, a boisterous Middle Eastern-influenced spot that’s good for large groups starting out the night. Nab a seat outside where the atmosphere feels like someone’s cool cookout as a charcoal grill sears tasty hanger steaks and seafood (you order by the weight to share). Inside, the look is more “modern art gallery” with concrete floors and a mural depicting some sort of demonic parade. The menu is immensely customizable for various price needs—maybe one person wants to do a quarter-pound each of tahini chicken and shawarma-spiced shrimp, and someone else wants to splurge on octopus. "There’s a lot to love about Ciudad. We love that it’s open daily for both lunch and dinner, and we love the tremendous flavors that the charcoal grill imparts on both meat and vegetables. We love that you can order items like hanger steak, pork collar, shawarma-spiced shrimp, and mixed vegetables by the quarter-pound. Supplement your grilled items with small plates, flatbread, and a variety of sauces (think chimichurri, harissa, mojo rojo and the like) that reflect the influence that Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Greece, and the entire Mediterranean region have on the restaurant.
