Where To Get Lunch In Midtown East

"If the desk you happen to sit at is a little closer to Central Park than Bryant Park, then the Omar’s on 55th Street should be your Omar’s. It’s nearly identical to the one on 39th Street, but with a little more full-service seating." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren

"After lunch I head out for my jab and walk ten blocks north to a CVS on Third Avenue. I’m depressed to see the number of food establishments that have gone out of business in the past year, but the two I care about most are still going: Omar’s on East 55th Street..."

Omar’s - 55th Street - Review - Midtown East - New York - The Infatuation

"Ask anyone who works in the East 50′s how often they go to Omar’s, and they’ll probably get embarrassed about their answer. This is a very dependable Lebanese lunch option in the area, and it’s the kind of thing that will help you get through an otherwise sh*tty week. There’s a sit-down area if you have a full lunch hour to spare, and a take-out line that usually snakes out of the restaurant and on to 55th Street (and moves extremely quickly). The chicken shawarma pita is the first thing you should try here, but they also have platters with lamb, beef, and chicken that come with salad and two sides of things like tabbouleh, hummus, and eggplant salad. Plus, you get a tiny piece of baklava with every order. There’s also a location on 39th Street, if that’s more convenient to your Midtown lifestyle. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Hannah Albertine

Silvia Killingsworth’s Grub Street Diet

"A neighborhood restaurant on East 55th Street that the author is relieved remains open amid many closures; it’s a cherished local spot she’s eager to return to." - Chris Crowley

Omar’s Taste serves some of the best Mediterranean food around truly authentic and full of flavor! The Chicken Shawarma Platter is a beauty perfectly seasoned and served in a generous portion that’s easy to share between two people. You also get to pick your sides, and I highly recommend going with the hummus and baba ghanoush both are incredibly fresh and rich in flavor. To top it off, they serve complimentary baklava with the check a sweet and thoughtful finish to a great meal. Cleanliness is good, but they wiped our table with a foul-smelling cloth, which made the start a bit unpleasant I’d suggest avoiding that as it spoils the mood. If you’re craving authentic Mediterranean food with great portions and hospitality, Omar’s Taste is the place to go!

Well, the food wasn’t the best but not bad. And it’s pricey compared to the quality of the food and the vibe of the restaurant. So, you can see they set $10-$20 which are not true. The cheapest dish was $22 and for the sandwiches was $18-19. The amount of food is barely enough for one person so you can’t share your dish. Also we ordered Kufta Kabab with Tabula but we got a regular salad which wasn’t that good.

This restaurant is best when it comes to food, ambiance and service. Food presentation is also so cool. The location is awesome in midtown Manhattan. Perfect place for Dinner and Lunch. Prices are also economical given the location and food.

Absolutely delicious! Omar Mediterranean Cuisine nails it with fresh, flavorful dishes and warm, welcoming service. We tried their signature dish it was delicious especially the eggplant salad. Don’t skip the baklava for dessert! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff genuinely cares about your experience. Whether you’re a Mediterranean food lover or trying it for the first time, Omar’s is a standout. Highly recommend!

I go here 2x a week. This is the best Mediterranean food in the area and best lunch spot in the area by far, especially for the great price. The food is always amazing quality (I always get the lentils and the lamb Adana). The people who work there are the best as well. Go here - you won’t regret it.

A must-visit spot if you’re in NYC! The portions are generous, and most importantly, the taste is amazing. I’ve tried many chicken shawarmas before, but this place is truly the best. And don’t miss out on the baklava for dessert — I highly recommend it!

FANTASTIC, MUST VISIT!!! It has been such a long time since I’ve genuinely left a restaurant with a smile from ear to ear. Came in to dine after class on Saturday and grabbed the Omar’s Specialty and my oh my was I impressed. Fast service, freshly cooked food, and authentic flavors. Each piece of meat was seasoned to perfection, the bread and rice to complement were superbly done. It honestly doesn’t get better than this. This is a must try for anyone in the city, and the price is more than beyond reasonable with the amount of food that you get. I will happily dine here again, my new favorite restaurant in NYC!! 😁😁

Google
It is pretty good spot for middle eastern food. Casual spot for a quick bite. The price is reasonable and the portion is generous. We got Omar’s comb plate. The chicken shawarma is the best option. If you like egg plant, the baba ganoush is very good.
