Repeat customer for years now. Takeout, dine-in...good food, good service, good conversation. Pizza, sandwiches, cold drinks. Hands down best seating is on the patio. You get dinner and a show, you never know who's going to pass by (one time we saw a cat and groundhog hanging out then watched the groundhog cross Columbia St). I recommend.

Ate lunch on a Friday. Server was really good and kept our drinks full. I had the Greek salad that was fantastic as always. I also had the pork soulvakia. The flavor was great but the meat was a little dry and tough. The chicken version is better to me. I still recommend this place!! Visited again and did take out on the Hawaiian pizza. It is fantastic! Visited again for lunch and had the Greek salad with grilled chicken. Very good! Had the French dip today for lunch. It was great! We ate dinner on a Saturday night The server is normally in the kitchen but they were short staffed. She did excellent!!

Month ago called in Supreme/ half no onions.well! half the pizza only had onions&cheese.Last night 1/23/26 called in LG 16" Supreme was quoted $23,When I arrived at drive-thru lady brought 12"& said it would still be $23.Requested manager explained situation&he wasn't willing to go by phone agreement,but only offered to knock off $3 & asked Do u still want it?.I responded no & drove off.Service is horrible

Met a friend for lunch today here. He was a regular and highly recommended this place. I was not disappointed. The staff was super and the food was good. I tried the house stromboli with some fries. It was good. The fries were standard issue. I would be supportive of a spicier version too. They have a double thin crust pizza on the menu which I will be trying soon. Prices were reasonable, especially for the portions. No complaints I look forward to a return soon. Apparently there is live music there on occasion as well so I will provide an update when I can.

Wanted to support somewhere local, and wanted some pizza for the weekend. I am a food delivery driver and have picked up pizza for customers from here and really wanted to try it out after smelling it in the car taking it to customers. We got the three ingredients pizza with pepperoni, pineapple, and spinach. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce and things are a little sweet, and the pizza is very thin and crispy. They do the checkerboard pizza cut style for easy sharing, and the bread sticks were very good. Golden brown and the cheese dip was great as well. I would definitely recommend deerhead pizza as one of, if not the best local pizza shops in town at the moment. Looking forward to trying more menu options in the future!

We shared a small Greek Salad and thin crust pizza. Both were delicious. The small salad is easily large enough to share. Out server took good care of us and made sure our glasses were filled when needed.

I ordered to go and we got the Meaty Blues thin crust. It was ready on time. The staff was friendly, quick and efficient. They do have a drive thru for pick up, but I went inside. I can't wait to return when I can sit down and have a beer at the really cool bar! What an awesome vibe! Don't miss this place!

My husband picked up a double decker pizza! I had no idea they had them! I was barely able to get through a whole piece! It's stuffed with toppings! I would highly recommend to get some pizza sauce on the side. He got us parmesan and feta. It was amazing! This is a locally owned treasure! I have lived in Evansville my whole life and have had a few things on their menu. Everything I have tried is delicious! I highly recommend it.

I ordered to-go and got the Meaty Blues thin crust, which was ready right on time. The staff was friendly, quick, and efficient. They have a drive-thru for pick-up, but I decided to go inside. The bar has such a cool vibe, I can't wait to come back and enjoy a beer there. Don't miss this place!

This restaurant also has a bar side. We sat outside in a covered patio. The service was nice and fast. We had their famous thin double crust pizza.. and wow was it good !! It is a huge pizza!! Would definitely recommend to try this place out!!

Drinks were cold and flowing and the pizza was tasty, I wish we would have simply got the single rather than double decker, the bottom layer didn't seem fully cooked and a little raw. Overall the amount of toppings and flavors were great. Great after funeral dinner for our family from all over.

Great choice of pizza with outdoor seating , bar and family room for the kids. Fast service with large selection for the whole family. Apps of all kinds. I prefer the fried mushrooms. Topped off with an ice cold fishbowl or pitcher of frosty adult beverage of your choice

The home of the original and only double decker pizza. We got the Supreme Double Decker and it was amazing. This place is an icon that has been around over 45 years. I grew up in this town and came back for a visit, it's as great now as it was then.

Has always been a favorite of mine. Like their pizza and Greek salad. We go there on my birthday each year in May and enjoy sitting outside on the glassed in Patio. We usually have the same waitress and she has been very attentive, prompt and pleasant.

We've had carry out and we've eaten in. We loved it. It's much better fresh. It was cold outside, but we were invited to use the porch which had the heaters blasting. It was quaint and cozy. Great service and the recommendation from our server was a hit. We will definitely return.

Deerhead is known for their spicy chili. I don't think it's too spicy, it's just a jalapeño spicy. Not killer. But, I do like that they use roast beef instead of ground meat. That's why it's so good. Add a bacon cheeseburger pizza and you will walk out happy.

Daddy wanted pizza after the children's museum with his 3 and 5 year old and first choice downtown was not open on Saturday around 1 pm, so I picked here. I got a bowl of chili as an appetizer. It was spicy and excellent with a couple chunks of what tasted like slow cooked beef roast. My children devoured their thin crust pizza. We all had a large double decker super supreme. It was why we came bc it sounded good to me and I love deep dish or thick pizzas. Similar to a gourmet version of the stuffed pizza from papa Murphy's with loads of tasty toppings, the beef being the best. Maybe a little too much dough in the middle, but that's as advertised I guess. This place is a diamond in the rough. They had other things on the menu, burgers and Philly steak I think and I'd imagine anything with beef in it was really good. Don't expect it to be quick, but service was great and our waitress even gave me popsicles for the kiddos. I will come back again when in the Evansville area.

We love this restaurant! Pleasant atmosphere, great staff and the food is delicious! Their Greek salad is the best I've ever had. I've heard the owner makes the salad dressing himself . Highly recommend the pizza, pizza bread, veggie burger, rice & beans, chicken sauvlaki & burgers. Guaranteed - you'll love it!

Poorly run business. Food is disgusting and made with cheap/low quality ingredients. Deerhead also relies on taxpayer bailouts (PPP) to stay in business, but won't pay their employees livable wages. AVOID THIS PLACE!

The pizza is amazing, the staff is awesome, the prices are decent. I've never had a bad experience here. My husband is from New York, so he knows his pizza and he loved it as well. Will definitely return in the future!

Joined friends last week for pizza and Greek salad at Deerhead. Enjoyed the patio and our time there.

Really great place for pizza, I travel all over and have my favorite haunts in Evansville. The service was very good, my server was very intuitive to my needs. Came by Got my drink order and my food order had my drink within a couple minutes. The food came out piping hot and smelled like it did when I was a kid my favorite pizza place. You can tell there's a Lotta love that goes into the Crisp thin crust pizza and the ingredients are top notch. I don't think I would be coming back to Evansville and not come back to this place. It was so good last night I'm back today for lunch..

Double Decker Pizza is outstanding. I small is enough to feed several hungry adults.

I was raised about a block away from this gem! It has only gotten better over the years! It is a neighborhood bar and eatery that does it right! Their specialties are Pizza and Stromboli! They do both extremely well. The staff is like at TV's Cheers! They've all been there for years and are always glad to see you and serve you a cold beer and some deep fried mushrooms or one of the other apps they do well! It is good for catching up with a friend, or for having your whole big family get together for Pizza night and swapping stories! Go there! Grab a beer! Order a pizza or Stromboli! Thank me later!

My husband and I enjoyed the double decker pizza (supreme). He thought it reminded him of a Stromboli but I think it's just because the crust was thin even though it was a double decker. That made for a nice bit of a crunch as you ate. The toppings were generous and the pizza sauce tasted great in my book. Not a typical chewy crust like I expected it to be but I liked it. Very unique taste. My son ordered chicken strips off the appetizers and they were crunchy on the outside and moist and delicious on the inside. We also ordered bread with cheese and the were a bit garlicky but very soft and good. Good service. We ate in the family room which was a bit small. They had Pepsi products but I won't hold that against them.

I had the thin crust and although I previously enjoyed the double decker pizza, this is my new favorite. Great flavor, plenty of leftovers. Recommended.

I have not lived in Evansville for 35 years so my visit to Deerhead brought back great memories. This was a hangout during the mid 80's. I had the lunch Stromboli, my wife had the lunch pizza, and we split a small Greek salad. The salad was great with a lot of feta, black olives, and juicy ripe tomatoes. The sausage on the Strom was tasty, and my wife's pizza was delicious. This is a go to place if you are on Columbia street and around the hospital. Thank goodness some things never change.

I was in town visiting some friends and we decided on Deerhead. I'd never heard of it before but was curious to try it. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday night & the place was packed. We had a party of 6 & luckily a group was getting up as we arrived the the wait was minimal. The short time we did wait, we ordered drinks at the bar. Fair warning, they make the drinks here STRONG. They're also CHEAP. It was only $7.25 for a jack & diet and a gin & tonic water. That's insane. The drink was good in a sense that it was strong, but I thought the flavor was off a little. Maybe the diet coke syrup was low or something. I skimmed over the menu & thought about a pizza but didn't want to be a fat kid and get a huge pizza, so I decided on a cheeseburger and added potato wedges with it. I also ordered a basket of fried mushrooms that came with a horseradish sauce. They were great. The breading was really thick. I'm not sure if they make them there or not but I really enjoyed them. I love horseradish white sauce so that was a plus. The burger must been a frozen patty because our waitress said that they're all just cooked, & you cannot ask if you want medium or not. For the price, I had no issue with that. The burger filling & I really enjoyed the bun it came on. I kept the horseradish & dipped my burger in it. So much for not being a fat kid. The live band set up before we got our food. Before that the noise level was of your average bar. We were able to have a conversation with each other at the table. Once the band started to play, it was nearly impossible to talk to the person next to you. You were really get your monies worth with the FREE band. ***** I have ONE issue with Deerhead Cafe, please update your menu prices online & in house if you're going to charge a different price. The menu lists that a cheeseburger is $4.75, and it is "complete with lettuce, tomato, onions, kosher pickle, & chips. Fries are $1.25 extra". On my receipt it lists a cheeseburger is $5.35 PLUS .50 for cheese, PLUS .45 dressed. I'm not sure why a cheeseburger has a price listed and then you're charged for cheese. Seems odd to me. I really do like this place. The food is good and the prices are great, I just wished they'd get a clear consensus on their pricing.

This place is great!! We will definitely go back soon! The fishbowl of beer that was ice cold was excellent!

I had Deerhead Tavern Pizza almost every Sunday for 20 years! Never got tired of it. Big thumbs up for the chili (If you like it HOT, that is!) and the pork steak.

Hadn't been here in over 20 years (because I moved away). So happy to get back during a recent visit. Pizza is still phenomenal and house and Greek salads are so fresh and tasty with the house dressing. Service was great too.

We ordered a double decker pizza and a thin crust pizza online on 5/23/22. It said the order should be ready in 25 minutes. We ordered when I was 20 minutes away so I figured it would be ready by the time I got there. I pulled up to the drive up window and there was a car in front of me. He sat there for over 10 minutes. Finally I was able to pull up. When I tried to get my pizza, I suppose your people missed the order. They had nothing ready and he asked with a sigh, "Did you order online?" I said "yes" and he rolled his eyes and said "I'm sorry, it's not ready. We willl have to make it right now. It would be around 12 minutes." It was MUCH longer than that. He finally brought it to my car with an apology. I drove home (11 minutes). We opened the pizza and the thin crust was cold. The double decker was average temp on top but hot in the middle. I'm not happy with this service after spending $44.

It has been a few years since I have eaten here, but during a meeting at work today, we adjourned for lunch to Deerhead. I had the pineapple and ham pizza as well as a loaded Stromboli. The pizza was amazing - perfect! The strom was good, too, just small. I am used to Pizza King's 12" strom for roughly the same price. The service was okay; waitress was polite, she just never came back once she delivered the food. I loaded my strom up with hot peppers so I needed a couple refills on my beverage; I just had to gut it out until I got back to the office so I could drink a gallon of Dr. Pepper. Good thing I have such a manly beard or I may not have made it.

We tried their pizza during Pizza Week. It was a Double Decker which we enjoyed very much. We decided to return to try the Breaded Tenderloin. It was fantastic. The meat was tender and thick and was very tasty. We also had the French Fries. They are potato wedges which are crunchy on the outside and had a tasty seasoning. Both times we ate here the service was also quite good. Very much worth the trip.

Tasted just like my dad's homemade pizzas. If you are in evansville Indiana you need to try it. Locally owned and operated. Has great service and good food. Happy I stopped here. Lost my dad 2 yrs ago and this was heart warming to eat something that reminded me of him.

Ordered delivery from here and got my food quickly. It was still hot but I was a little disappointed in the food. I wouldn't say it was bad but it was definitely bar food. Won't be getting delivery again but may stop in to try it after a couple beers

If you are looking for fancy or corporate chain decor, then don't bother walking through the door. If you remember what pizza places used to look like, then step into the wayback machine that is the Deerhead. Seating is very limited. There are two sections. One that is non-smoking, consists of about 5 tables that are right next to the kitchen. From here you get to watch the cooks making pizzas and hot sandwiches. The other section is the bar in the next room. From here you get to see the live music selection of the evening. This place was very popular, so there were no tables in that section for us. It was very loud in that room and a bit smoky, so we didn't mind sitting in what the waitress called the "family section". Luckily there were no children present. The waitress was very pleasant and she patiently told us the beer selection and left out the Bud and Miller as we requested. They didn't have a huge selection, but we found a few gems. The Bell's Two Hearted Ale was a good IPA and the Leinie's 1889 (or something like that) was a tasty surprise as well. When I stumbled trying to decide what appetizer to order, the waitress suggested the Greek salad. Deciding to skip the deep fried selections seemed like a good idea. We order one and it was huge. She even brought us two plates to share it. (Later, when we got the bill we saw that it was the "small" one.) One thing missing was the anchovies. Greek salads should have anchovies, and this was a pizza place, so I know they have them. There was plenty of feta on it to make up for their absence though. We had a small pizza. It was OK, but I am not a big fan of the thin crust. My wife is the pizza addict though and she liked it a lot. Dessert was the real surprise. We like sweets with our beer, so it was nice to find out that they have two kinds of homemade pie. We ordered both, a chocolate and a coconut cream. It was a pleasant ending to the evening. Because we are from the Chicago area, the prices here seemed very reasonable. After a generous tip, we still ended up around $40 for the night. The decor is not fancy, but who needs it to be when the food and service are good? I wish the Deerhead was in my neighborhood. The food was good but not spectacular.

The double decker pizza (supreme) is my favorite pizza I've ever had in my life. My family normally splits the loaded nachos also before the pizza. with so many pizza places in Evansville, Deerhead is my personal favorite.

So many good times here. Deerhead is one of those places that makes living in Evansville tolerable for transients and non-natives. Famous for their 'double-decker' pizzas - just what it sounds like. Basically two pizzas in one. Fantastic. Also their thin crust (which I prefer to thick) is great. Some specialty combos and you can make your own too. Other stuff is decent. Appetizers are standard pub stuff (fried this or that) but good. Especially the mushrooms. They often have live jazz which is frequently very good. Only complaint is that it is not acoustically equipped to have live music and is therefore EXTREMELY loud when the band is playing - not at all conducive to conversation. All in all, a great local spot. Check it out if you're in town.

I've been going to the Deerhead for years, and it is one of my favorite places in Evansville. The food is always good, I usually go with the pita grilled cheese, the veggie burger or a pizza. Try the fries with a sandwich, they are thick and have a tasty seasoning on them. The double decker pizza is one of their specialties, and is always good. They have live music in the bar most nights of the week, and I especially like going on Sundays. Great atmosphere, good food and good blues/jazz music makes for a fun night! On a side note...if you are looking for a quieter time to dine at Deerhead, try lunch or early evening, as the music doesn't usually start til later at night. Also the enclosed patio is generally much quieter than the bar. They also have a drive-through window for carryout orders.

I found the place unique. Had the beef philly steak and it was excellent. The staff was very friendly. I had the wrong night for music. I will return.

This has been our place to get the family together for a meal for many years now. Nice casual atmosphere, and the back room is great for us because we take it all up and hopefully contain our loudness to that area. The pizza is always great. The Greek salad is also really good - get a large and share it.

I was told that I needed to try the double-decker. I was told best pizza in town. I must say this location did not let me down. Great pizza great people great night with friends and family.

I didn't expect to be too impressed. This is evansville. Not a good town for foodies. The server sarah was quick and nice. I got a Greek salad. I did expect that much "stuff" including feta cheese on the salad. It was good. The dressing had a weird minty touch. It was good. Then I had the tenderloin. Not sure if it's fresh or frozen but again I was surprised. The meat and breading were great. They have quite a good bar selection. The interior is definitely "vintage" haha. I would come back and try another sandwich or a pizza. Didn't check out the bathroom yet so no report on whether that is clean or not. This is damn near the only restaurant around open on a sunday. The patio is really nice

Great atmosphere, great staff, food is OK. Went with a friend for dinner. We went on a Saturday around 7:00. We were able to get a seat right away and the service was great. Made sure that we had what we needed but weren't intrusive. We ordered the buffalo bites as an appetizer, the stromboli, and the double decker pizza. The buffalo bites were pretty good, a little bit of heat but not to spicy. The stromboli was not what I expected. I was expecting the traditional "folded over pizza" this was more of a hoagie on a roll, very little sauce and lots of bread. It was good but a little greasy. The double decker pizza was good, the sauce and toppings, pepperoni and sausage, were great. The crust was a little off. A fun place with a nice patio but not the best food.

The pizza was awesome! My husband and i always get the double decker pizza. The service is always decent and the drinks are tasty. They even have live bands on the weekend! Great place to hang with friends.

I live in Florida but I come to Evansville about twice a year to see family and every time I come here we always go eat at deerhead pizza. They are absolutely amazing! Best pizza in Evansville. The wait is a little long, but it's worth it.

Did not have a good experience here. I found a black hair in my food and the Reuben meat tasted off. Perhaps it's the beginning of the week, or the current staff but from my experience, I won't come back.

We were passing through Evansville and wanted to eat somewhere that wasn't a "chain" restaurant. We stopped here for lunch. This is now on my list of favorite places to eat, the Greek salad is by far the salad I've ever had! The pizza was great! Anytime were in the area we will stop here.

Wonderful place to get together with family. On nights that they don't have live music the wait is shorter Turoni's. On nights that have music you'll need to get there early to get a table because it fills up place.

Great food, great service and very reasonable prices. my wife loved the pineapple upside down cake drink she had.
