We loved this experience. First time here, and I must say, It was a beautiful afternoon with great service and even better food. The selection of teas is extensive. The teas we chose were wonderful. We bought some loose leaf teas to bring home. We will definitely be back.

Very fun experience. All the teas we tried were great. We had a group of 12 and they were able to accommodate us. The sandwiches, quiche and scones were delicious. The desserts were the perfect size and were delicious as well.

I ordered tea sandwiches, savory and sweets for my granddaughter's Anne of Green Gables themed birthday party. The Grand Tea Room was so wonderful to deal with, supplying a tiered serving tray and directions on how to heat the savory. Everything was delicious! I was happy to hear that they weren't negatively impacted by the Grand Avenue construction and are very happy with the results. Parking was so easy and they have more outdoor seating now. I'm looking forward to taking my granddaughter to tea and to see The Little Princess in a few weeks!

Had so much fun. We tried 4 different teas and they were so delicious. Food was good. Atmosphere great. Everyone was sweet and helpful. Got some loose leaf tea to take home.

I was lucky to have my bridal shower here and it was amazing. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and made sure everything went well. The owner and her daughter were amazing! The staff amazing! I highly recommend you host your next event here. I’m a frequent customer and recommend this place to all my girlfriends. Best High Tea in San Diego.

I took my 3 and 6 year old daughters here with my husband. We had a wonderful time. Some tea rooms have strict rooms on ages, but this place will allow younger kids. My girls are well behaved. The food is delicious and I was amazed at how well they were able to accommodate me being dairy-free. They also have hats and headbands you can wear while having tea. We had a really good time and will definitely come back!

We did the full afternoon tea and I had a lot of fun and I left super full. The best bites were the soups and the scones.

We went here on a recommendation from our daughter. I expected this to be a place only woman go to, but to my surprise I loved this experience! First off it is unique. I haven’t done a tea tasting like this before. We had two hours from 11 to 1 at a reserved table. You can’t get in without a reservation. During this time you can try all there teas, which is extensive. Then they serve you small amounts of food but by the time we were done, we were all full. The experience started with a mixed fruit dish with cream, so fresh. Then a soup, we choose tomato basil, it was delicious. Then the small snack flight started. Small sandwiches. Loved the chicken salad, then scones, small velvet cake, and other snacks. If your a foodie you will love this place!!!

I think High Tea stands out as dress up fancy places to enjoy for special occasions. This is Doc's birthday weekend and she planned a fun varied adventure and we were her guests. You enter through a gift shop then are escorted to your table. Within minutes of their 11 a.m. opening, the patrons entered till all tables were occupied, even tables dining outside. It was a complete lunch surprise beginning with a fresh fruit cup clouded in a bed of whipped cream. Next came with soup with baguette or salad with choice of dressing. To be sure, check both sides of the tea menu- what a collection. My favorite was the Buccaneer. Everywhere you look there are framed photos, mini plates hanging on the walls and mismatched chairs pushed into Lacey tablecloths. The two teapots on each tables are also different. The tower arrived with scones, 3 kinds of finger sandwiches (cucumber, chicken and egg) and several desserts plus scones with 3 luscious smears. .***the tea room was a shabby chic lover's dream with Victorian whimsies placed oh so charmingly. Come for a special celebration you wont be disappointed.

We had a pleasant Saturday afternoon tea here. My friend made a reservation a few days in advance, and the place was pretty packed when we arrived (the gift shop area was actually pretty crowded with people waiting to check in). The decor and tea sets were really nice and the restaurant felt very cozy. The teas we had were very good (you can order as many flavors as you want), my friend had the Jasmine and Darjeeling tea, and I tried the White Swiss Truffle (decaf) tea which had a good chocolate flavor. They had an extensive tea menu with lots of selections (including decaf teas which was nice). The food was also good for the most part; we really liked the tomato soup, it was very creamy and flavorful. The sandwiches were also good, but some of the bread seemed a bit stale/dry. The cucumber one was actually my favorite, and the egg salad one was okay. The chicken pot pie was good (though it was a smaller portion than I thought). I enjoyed the cherry walnut scone, and desserts were also very flavorful (my friend had the vegan versions so hers were a bit different). I felt the service could have been friendlier, some of the servers we had seemed a bit rushed/impatient. I would recommend trying this tea place for a new experience!

There are many things this business needs to improve starting with and finishing with food because food experience is what tea houses are all about. The first service is in a glass container with grapes and whipped cream from a can its not very difficult to make Chantilly Cream or Bavarian cream that would elevate those grapes but instead it felt like a kids birthday party. Now for the tea sandwiches my heart didn't sing mediocre at best Shepherd's pie (really!!) croissants very stale my wife and I didn't finish the three tier platter. Environment gets a 2 1/2 starts. And please to the owner do not eat same food and do accounting in the same area as your guests it cheapens the experience. Thanks Mike S.

Such an adorable place, would go here again! The only thing I would change is perhaps making a bit more room on the table for everything, it was very crowded on the two person table. Still very lovely, and got so many compliments on our looks from many beautiful women also the food was AMAZING!!! Literally so delectable and filling

It is a beautiful place to have tea. Went to celebrate a birthday lunch and the table setting was beautiful. We decided on the Grand tea option. We started with soup and was given the option between butternut and tomato basil soup. We picked the Butternut squash soup which was delicious. After the soup, a three tiered tray of sandwiches, scones, and petite desserts were next. Everything was delicious though I would have preferred the croissant to be more on the fluffy and warm side. For tea, we choose the Sweet Watermelon and Paris. We also got to try the Fruits d' Alsace and Buccaneer. All the teas were great. Overall, we had a lovely time. I did feel it was a little off on the service. Not so friendly and felt rushed and were impatient by our questions or request and not so welcoming.

We visited a charming traditional tea room that offers afternoon tea with a delightful tower of treats. With around 40 tea selections, you have two hours to sample as many as you'd like. We tried eight, each with its own unique flavor, and it was a pleasure to experience such variety. The service was excellent--attentive and thoughtful, ensuring we were happy with our choices throughout. The tea room itself is absolutely adorable, with a cozy, homey vibe that made us feel like we had stepped into Grandma's house. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

I am a big fan of afternoon tea, and Steven found this one and offered to take me and I was excited to try it out. This is my 10th teahouse I have visited, and within the scale of those it was probably in the middle or a little above in my list. The tea room is quite small so I was happy I was able to secure reservations at opening just a week and a half in advance. I am not sure how many of us were there but I remember seeing three or four tables of 2-3 people, a table of six, and two larger groups, one of those being a bridal shower. Each afternoon tea comes with multiple options depending on your choice of package. We chose the highest one which was The Grand Tea - Soup and savory, assorted tea sandwiches and savory, fresh fruit, scone with cream, lemon curd, and preserves, petite desserts and a freshly steeped tea of your choice. Considering this was a good price point compared to other businesses I have visited, we were all in. We were quite a bit confused as to why we were told we could only order one tea because they were short staffed. I had never heard that one, and we were even more confused when the other tables of two people immediately got two pots of tea. That was not going well with Steven. Also the table of six only received two pots of tea. Thankfully later, we were offered another pot of tea of our choosing, but I was still confused about this situation. Upon arrival we were all immediately served fruit and cream. It was a nice starter point. We were offered a choice of soup or salad and we both ordered the tomato basil soup with garlic bread. We were then asked our choice of savory - quiche or shepherds pie. We ordered one of each. I can say I have never had an option like this before. This was also followed by three sandwiches (egg salad, chicken salad with cranberry and a cucumber with some type of cream cheese), a choice of scone (we both went with white chocolate strawberry) and three petite desserts. Service was A-OK. It took a while to get help and close to an hour before receiving our towers, although the fruit and soup did come out before. I normally prefer the usual four to five sandwich option, but the savory item along with the soup and fruit made up for it. Usually places provide two scones but I am not a big scone fan so I was happy with the larger scone and all these other options, and the desserts were a great portion. I was left beyond stuffed and I do appreciate the price point again, especially with the soup being part of the price. Sometimes that is yet another upcharge. My favorite part was the tea, which is the main point. There are over 40 options according to the site, but I found that the teas had strong and great flavor. Some of them are weak and watery. We had the blueberry green tea and the black currant tea. I enjoyed them both very much. The owner was very nice! I did not realize the business was ran by the owner and her daughter.

Attended the Grand Tea Room on a Thursday at 11am. We had made reservations in advance for a table of 7. We did the Garden tea which was $40 per person. Pros: -we got lucky and had 2 hours of free parking directly in front -great theming! Lots of customers dressed up -they give you options of what tea you want as well as what you would like to eat for starters -the waitress we had was great! -the meal is surprisingly filling. We couldn't even finish our sandwiches and desserts Cons: -they do charge you for dietary requests. For example we had a vegetarian and there was a $3.00 charge Other: -they have a little store upfront Overall, cute place and great experience

We recently booked a large party on a Sat afternoon of just over 30 guests. I placed the reservation months in advance and worked with the owner and her daughter on the arrangements. The group consisted of women ranging in various ages from 10 through 80 and we chose the grand high tea - six courses. We had four allergies (vegan, gluten free and gf/vegan) which were accommodated. It was very nice to be able to participate. The servers were friendly, the teas very good, and a cute assortment of finger foods. Overall a very nice experience and worth the money.

We enjoyed the variety of tea offered here! We also thought the sweet pastries and the savory items as delightfully delicious. The staff were quite nice and hospitable too. Overall, we had a nice tea experience and would come back again.

This was such an adorable experience. We went here with a group of friends and my daughter that is 9. I didn't really know what to expect going in. All of the teas we had were so different and delicious! We ordered the garden tea and the food offerings were perfect. We left there feeling satisfied and not overly full. In fact, everyone couldn't even finish all of the desserts. I definitely recommend this for a fun and different experience. Either with friends or a mommy daughter date. Who doesn't love getting a little dressed up and enjoying some tea?

First timer to try English Tea time, overall it was quite enjoyable drinking tea, eating tiny sandwiches and desserts. They have a long list of tea selections and we tried the Earl and Creme Brulee tea which were both very flavorful. The package we had included the soup. We choose the corn soup which was amazing. Equally amazing is the shepherd pie. The tiny sandwiches were basic - there was the chicken, egg and cucumber. What i didn't like were the scones. They were very dry. I wish there were more savory items. It seems that we had a lot of sweet items from the fruit, scone and dessert. Hats were available free to borrow to immerse you to the British experience. Now when splitting the bill in half, be sure to check the tip as the tip amount is based on the total bill and not the half. Example the total bill was $100 and you're splitting it $50 to 2 people. The 20% tip was $20 for both $50.

Was a fun experience. Totally would want 4 people or so. The tea was very good. So much variety. The sandwiches were ok. Loved the cucumber one. Very good. The egg salad was alright and I didn't eat the chicken one but swapped it out with my friend since I don't like chicken. The desserts were good.the scone was a bit on the dryer side but I liked the blueberry one. The sauces for the scone were really amazing. That lemon curd and jelly was the highlight of the meal. The Mexican corn soup was also very good. I'd totally go again. Had a great time.

This tea room in Escondido was such a pleasant surprise. The decor, food, and tea blends were just wonderful. Also, very unique tea related gifts available in the adjacent shop I would definitely visit regularly if I lived here!

This place is adorable yet crowded. The front desk when checking in isn't entirely friendly and they really pack you in like peanuts. For a party of 6 it's two unlimited tea options rather than a pot pp. As someone who is gluten free the soup was my only option to eat anything. I felt like the servers really didn't check in ever. And there were TONS of screaming children. Honestly the tea itself was fine and apparently the sandwiches were good. Felt like a lot of food waste as you weren't able to just pick desserts or skip them. The nice girl who offered boxes basically told me whatever isn't eaten or touched just gets thrown out. They also forgot to give us the soups we ordered till we were about to leave and one person in our party mentioned they still had not given us the soup. I wish I could've said this was a 10/10 experience because the space is adorable. But it was really middle of the road. And pricey in comparison to other places including the montage in laguna. I do want to update my review as it says on their page they have gluten free options. When I made our reservation I did previously mention it to them as it stated. But they hardly spoke to us upon arrival.

I called the Grand Tea room about 4 days before my baby sprinkle tea party and they were able to accommodate a catering request for 20 people with no issue. They really went above and beyond! Everyone absolutely loved the food and tea! I highly recommend their services. The price was very reasonable, incredibly friendly staff, and of course excellent food and tea. Everybody especially loved the pecan desserts, they were the first to go. And the crème brule tea was a hit!

So much fun! Just like London! Teas are so good,, food was amazing, atmosphere perfect! The staff and owners were warm and inviting! Can't wait to go again

Extraordinarily magical place. The gift shop is a treasure trove of all beautiful things tea. A lovely and kind person answered all our tea questions and perfectly assisted us in our purchases. We will return regularly.

Such a cute experience! I celebrated my birthday with the Grand Tea service which came with 5 savory items, 3 desserts, a soup, fresh fruit, and unlimited tea flavors over a 2-hour service for $42 per person. I think you get the most tea and food for the value of the package. I got to try 8 different teas served by the half-pot. I highly recommend this place for groups, celebrations, and tea lovers.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was cozy and charming. I appreciated the timeless elegance from the decor and antique furniture and soft lighting. We got the grand tea experience, a 2 hour experience First course- fresh fruit with a whipped cream Second course- Choice of a Spring salad or tomato basil soup 2 Teas for the table, and we had a choice to swap out for other teas to try through out. The 3 Tier stand was presented nicely with: Chicken salad croissant, egg salad sandwich, open face cucumber sandwich, a quiche or Shepard pie, scones and other small bite desserts. I would give the food a 3/5 - Some of the desserts on the stand were too dry, not as flavorful. The sandwiches I enjoyed more. I loved the selection of teas that are offered here, I wish we were able to try more but I think we ran out of time to order more. My favorite tea from what we tried was the Crème Brûlée with milk and a little dash of sugar. Overall, I was not disappointed for my first tea room experience here.

This place is so nice! It's in a cute area and there's a little lobby shop that anyone can go in and there's a dining area that takes reservations. Everything, down to the wallpaper and bathroom décor is so dainty and cute and tea-themed. They have fancy hats in the lobby/shop as well as lots of tea accessories for purchase. You can buy things individually (a la cart) or you can buy the afternoon tea with a pre-set menu. We went for the grand tea afternoon tea which is $42. It was surprisingly filling! And delicious. And you can try as many teas as you want. There are lots of good options!

Second, piping hot tomato Basil soup with toast on the side. Enjoyed it! The rest nicely presented on 3 tier stand: chicken salad croissant sandwich, egg salad sandwich, open face cucumber sandwich, quiche or pie, upside down pineapple cake, peach cobbler, Black Forest Trifle and blueberry scone (dried) with cream, lemon curd, and jelly. Tea (served in 3), we chose: White Swiss Truffle, Earl Lavender, French Caramel Creme Brule Second set of tea: Crime of Passion (my favorite) Valentine and Pai Mu Tan Last: Watermelon and Plum Service: 4/5 Suggested gratuity: 20% and 22% We gave 18%. When our tea ran out, we had to wait a little bit to get our sever, Julissa, to fill the pots. Pleasant experience to share with my sons and their friend and girlfriend. We enjoyed our time here.

It's tea time. We had a nice and relaxing Saturday afternoon enjoying tea. We chose the grand tea service that came with fruit, soup, tea sandwiches, petit desserts and freshly steeped tea. We tried three teas: earl grey, roobios and coconut crème. They were all good and my favorite was the roobios. The food was very filling. The croissant was a bit stale, but the mini shepards pie was delicious and unique. Service was excellent and the place was full. The restaurant was outdated and could use a facelift. Despite the average ambiance, we had a good time.

Amazing! I took my three year old here for a date with just she and I, and we absolutely loved it. It's decorated beautifully. The staff are lovely. The tea and food were wonderful. We'll definitely be back! Hot tip: make your reservation well in advance! The place was packed on a Saturday at 11 am.

We came here for Mother's Day. We made advanced reservations. The decor and ambience are right on point for a tea room. Each table has a unique tea set pattern. The staff were friendly. We had a group of 6. I was worried we would still be hungry after but boy was I wrong. It was much more food than I thought. Everything was delicious. They were even able to accommodate my parents who are vegan. Great place and a great experience overall.

Loved the ladies at the front and gift shop. The employees were all ready for the rush when they opened and the staff were so sweet and attentive. Note that on Saturdays they only serve the full Grand Tea for $40 pp: Soup, Assorted Tea Sandwiches and Savory, Fresh Fruit, Scone with Cream, Lemon Curd and Preserves, Petite desserts, and a Freshly steeped tea of your choice. * two hour tea time. There were two kinds of soup that day (tomato and a potato) and we also got a small shepards pie and quiche. These two were served in little pots, you also got small sides of jam and clotted cream. Tea sandwiches aren't everyone's thing, but I found them to be really delightful and tasty. I enjoyed the cucumber one the most and could have skipped the egg salad one but I am not big on mayo. I got the milky oolong and my friend got a black and rose tea. We finished our pots and you could get refills. There is also sugar and milk for your tea. Reservations are required. My friend said they confirmed our reservation 3 times. Note that all the tables were booked at 11 AM on a Saturday (closed Sunday / Monday). It was nice to see everyone having a good time. There were couples, a school girls' birthday, and a group celebrating. GIven all the people there, it wasn't rowdy at all; everyone was respecful of the other groups. I am happy I got to visit the Grand Tea Room! What isn't to like about a well run and well-decorated tea house? Also, the restrooms were clean, the staff asked if you needed anything and cleared off used dishes. The people who worked there actually smiled real smiles. I mean it sounds pretty basic, but good service is hard to find. Glad this gem of a place is local. It is worth the splurge! Try it out of you are in Escondido and want to try something new.

This is the second time I went with friends to celebrate my birthday. Today I had a friend come up from San Diego with her daughter. She made an 11:00 reservation.....this was her first time to go to the The Grand Tea Room. They loved the look of the tea room....service was very good.....of course we enjoyed our tea choices, as well the tasty food. They were very helpful, making some changes for me, because I don't eat meat.....my friends were so happy with the Tea room, they plan on returning with other friends.

A great finish to a long birthday weekend celebration! Was able to spend time enjoying a relaxing mid morning tea time and time chatting with a friend. A wonderful afternoon to catch up with a friend or a few, have a few items to nibble on and enjoy a nice hot cup of tea. You won't be disappointed. The decor and ambiance only lends to a phenomenal time. The owner and her daughter were on hand to chat with as well. Take a moment to hear why she opened this location. Those who love tea time; will appreciate.

I came here to celebrate an early 30th birthday brunch with my gals and I have to say that this place is lovely for a small get together with your friends. It was all of our first time doing a tea room, and little did we know there is one in Escondido! I applaud the cute little antique shop that welcomes you as you walk in, and the vintage decor all along the walls plus the silverware they use. The tables are spread apart nicely in order to give everyone privacy. Beware of speaking loudly in this establishment, as it's meant to be of an inside voice tea time place and to be respectful of others around you. We all opted for the 2-hour Grand Tea experience with 2 tea selections, which was $40 menu items which included the starter fruits with whipped cream, soup or salad, and the beautiful 3-tier stand of pastries and sandwiches! The Tomato Basil soup was by far made really fresh and the right amount of consistency, it was delicious. As for the sandwiches, they're small bites so don't expect much. One of them was a croissant tuna sandwich, egg salad sandwich and a cucumber and mayo sandwich. I really loved the Shepherd's Pie and the quiche! Both delightfully cooked and made with love. Some of the pastries were pretty dry, especially the strawberry scones. I was looking forward to that the most at the end, so that was unfortunate. We couldn't finish the rest of the pastries, so we took them home but the chocolate mousse dessert they had was yummy! I really liked that one. We loved the different teas we tried. We got the Crème Brûlée tea with caffeine and a Lady tea with peach hints. They were lovely with the unlimited tea selections! If we had weren't so full, we would've tried more. Would I say that it's worth $40? Not completely, you do pay for the experience and although it's supporting the business, I wish the assortments had more variety and slightly bigger bites for the sandwiches. Other than that, it was such a cute brunch experience with aesthetically pleasing places for photo ops :)

WOW! Went for tea, came away with a beautiful, memory. Not only were the tea options amazing, the food was delicious . But it doesn't end there. The experience, was also something, special, and the owner Luisa made us feel like family. The whole staff went out of their way to explain the different options on their menu. Looks like we'll be visiting Escondido, and the Grand tea room more often! BTW they have a cute little gift shop in front that my wife fell in love with.

My absolute favorite place for a spot of tea and biscuits! My friends and I go all over for high tea and the Grand Tea Room is by far the winner in every possible category. Service is amazing, food is delicious, tea is phenomenal, and the style of the tea room is gorgeous. Absolutely love the tea sets at each table that coordinate in color and/or style. An adorable gift shop as well. The staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. I definitely recommend a reservation no matter the day or time as they are always busy. Plenty of seating for large parties. They do have special events to book for holidays, like Mother's day for example. If you do the Grand Tea (which I recommend), you will have unlimited tea, a parfait, soup or salad, tea sandwiches (usually 3 each), scones, quiches, desserts and more. Scones come with lemon curd, clotted cream, and preserves. They usually switch up the desserts, scones, and soups. My favorite soup is the tomato basil, but honestly all of them are great. Same goes for sandwiches and scones. I've never been disappointed in any flavor or style. My favorite tea is the Paris tea! The French caramel Creme brûlée and earl lavender black tea are also in my top choices. I've accidentally been give pear spice instead of Paris (they do sound the same) and I was so happy because it was also delicious. You can also buy the tea (by weight) in the gift shop. I always have Paris tea at home as well. You will not be disappointed here!

I've enjoyed experiencing gracious tea at The Grand Tea Room dozens of times over the years--always making reservations and never just walking in, realizing they're often very busy. I've also attended and enjoyed the 413 Theater events there several times, and have additionally had very nice carry-out from there. Everyone I've encountered working there has always been dignified and courteous, and the tea and food has always been very good. I've been to a number of tea rooms over the decades and each has a different feel, some a bit highbrow, though I've enjoyed them all. Tea House experiences are definitely not "fast food." In my experience, The Grand Tea Room has a welcoming and relaxed, elegant air. I've always had good experiences there and often find cute items in their gift shop too.

I had a great time taking my girls to celebrate a birthday. We got dolled up and enjoyed being "fancy". Definitely you're paying for the experience, while treats are good but they are very small, more like a snack situation. Definitely coming back!

A 2-hour reservation on Saturday was set to celebrate my mom's and sister's birthdays at this quaint tea room. We were a party of 10 and we were seated at 2 round tables. Parking was a bit hard to find since a Christmas parade was scheduled for later in the day so no street parking was allowed on Grand Avenue. We were able to find parking in a parking lot off the street behind the buildings. Upon entering, you go through their cute little gift shop then to the tea room. I think I counted about 6 tables and every table was occupied. We came a little late & was able to join the rest of our family. I came with my daughter, her hubby and grandson and we were treated to 3 different choices of tasty teas: Crème Brûlée, Long Island Strawberry, and Peach. The peach tea was my favorite. They offered 2 soups: Pumpkin Spice and Tomato Bisque with savory biscuits. Afterward they brought a 3 tiered serving tray full of assorted small sandwiches, shepherd's pie, bacon quiche, scones, and assorted pastries. Everything was delicious! The customer service was excellent and the servers were attentive. The tea room is decorated so nicely with painted murals and bright crystal chandeliers with a fireplace in the center of the room. The table was set with nice place settings and beautiful China with pink roses. One of the servers spoke fluent Tagalog, which tickled my mom! This was a great experience and look forward to returning! Thanks for making my mom's & sister's birthdays so very special!

Recently went to the theatrical performance of the Secret Garden while dining on high tea with champagne. Absolutely magnificent!! Performance was fantastic, food was delicious and wait staff was VERY accommodating for my allergies. If you have the opportunity to go to see the Secret Garden, don't miss it!! We'll definitely check out their other events or just going for another high tea!! Can't recommend this place enough!!

Came here with a friend for the first time today. We had such a great time. The food and tea were delicious. Don't forget to check out the hats available to borrow, and make it extra fun. I'll definitely be a returning visitor!

My best friend and I celebrated 50+ years of friendship at the Grand Tea Room this weekend. It offered a charming setting, attentive service, and delicious food!!! I loved their gift shop, and will keep it in mind for specialty gift giving! It was lovely seeing small groups to larger families enjoying the activity together. I'll be looking forward to treating my grandchildren to this experience in the near future!!!

Located in adorable Escondido old town, The Grand Tea Room really does have a large variety of loose leaf teas to choose from for afternoon tea. We went all out with the Grand Tea package at $40 per person for an assortment of baked desserts and two pots of our choice tea for 2 hours. Place settings were absolutely adorable, and really enhanced the tea time experience. Teapots were placed on top of warmers with a little tea light to keep it warm as you drink, keeping it warm until we finished the pot. Slurp! A bonus - they have a vegan option at an additional cost. Though our teas of choice (Earl Lavendar, Peachy, and Coconut Creme) were divine, the food was left much to be desired. Fresh fruit topped with whipped cream was refreshing, and the soups (potato bacon and tomato) were both flavorful, but it kind of went downhill from there. All the desserts and sandwiches were pretty dry and bland, which was a bit disappointing. Service was perfection, so really it was just the food that was a bit subpar. Next time it'll just be a few pots of tea with a la carte soup options for me!

We had a wonderful afternoon tea experience at The Grand Tea Room! It's a quaint and intimate restaurant in the heart of downtown Escondido with a gift shop in the front and the tea room in the back with several tables spaced out. They also have 2 tables outside if you prefer. A great option for a mother-daughter luncheon, get together with friends, or a celebration. They have various afternoon tea menus but I would suggest the one with the soup which is $40 per person. You get a choice of soup (tomato basil or broccoli cheddar), a cup of fruit with whipped cream, a scone (plain or strawberry), a bacon quiche or shepherd's pie, a slice of cucumber, egg salad, and chicken salad sandwich, and various desserts (chocolate mousse, carrot cake, and a lemon tart). The food was very filling and we even had leftovers to take home. Of course, they had an extensive list of tea options to enjoy as well. Our servers were attentive and kind. It was easy to get a hold of someone if we needed something. They also took some great pictures when asked! They reserve 2 hours for your dining experience which was plenty of time to enjoy the meal and chat. My only critique is that they have limited hours when they pick up the phone and calling is the only way to make reservations (which I highly recommend as the room was full on a Saturday). Even during open hours, the phone went to voicemail a few times, assuming when they were busy. Maybe have an online reservation system for convenience?

What Luisa responded is untrue, it is a lie. As I said in my review, a woman at the table right in front of me initiated by offering to me that they were serving High Tea now. I thanked her then asked if that included deserts. Before she could answer Luisa came over. We immediately stopped talking and then I retreated to the gift shop to ask her myself what they were serving. That's when she scolded me for talking up "all" the guests. The woman I spoke to did not complain to her, that is simply not true, Luisa is lying about that. Unless she complained before out very brief interaction, which is impossible, or after I left, which is super unlikely since 1) I was not bothersome to them, as I had only asked 1 question that was cut short before it became an actual conversation, and 2) I had already left. As I was gone, there would be no reason to complain, especially for a basically non-interaction. As for my "walking around", why don't you try having somebody greet your customers when they walk in, rather than letting them walk around looking for someone who works there to talk to. I waited for a few minutes in the gift shop first, then walked in. I didn't bother anyone. I don't care what other bad experiences you've had either other people, I didn't do those things and you were extremely rude to presume my behaviour in advance. All you needed to ask me was "can I help you?" and this whole lovely conversation on here needn't have happened.

Went there today for my cousins baby shower and it was such an amazing cute and fun experience! The employees were absolutely amazing! Absolutely recommend this place, I'm definitely doing this for my 30th birthday. The only thing I recommend is, They really need high chairs and a diaper changing station in the powder room, because us single mammas don't have many babysitters but other then that, FABULOUS

Wonderful service. Food was plentiful and delicious. Its family owned and operated. They also have an amazing gift store.

Staff were attentive and warm. Food was delicious. Teas were flavorful and varied. We left very full! It was a beautiful place to spend the afternoon for tea.

What a cute small tea room in downtown Escondido. Parking can get busy here so plan accordingly along with reservations! I came at 4pm on a Friday and it was more than half full. I can't imagine what the weekends are like. My friend and I opted to get the light lunch. I'm not sure if they were sold out or because we went at 4pm we didn't get the savory item that came with it (quiche). In replace of it they offered us a scone. Not too sure if a sandwich would have been more of a fair trade. They offer a range variety of teas mostly black or green with limited white teas. The scone was light and wasn't so dry like other places that I appreciate. I thoroughly enjoyed that each tea pot had their own candle warmer which kept the tea warm and a drip catcher. The little things make a difference! I would love to come back again and hope to try full spread with dessert, but because of the time of tea seating I didn't want to be stuffed for our dinner reservation. The price is comparable to other tea rooms that I have visited before. I would recommend this place to anyone, but please don't forget to make a reservation in advance!

My daughter came here for a birthday party. Everyone was dressed up and having a blast. What ever you may have built up in your head about what a tea party would be like, you're most likely imagining this place. From finger foods like cucumber sandwiches, to delicate tea cups, it's all here. Five stars for a dream come true Tea Party experience.

It was my birthday and I spent it here for lunch. It was the most delightful, fulfilling, and fun visit. Yes, they were busy but that's a good thing and we arrived about 10 mins early to our reservation, so we waited a bit. We shopped on the lil shop while we waited. Super cute items- perfect for gifts for birthdays or holidays. A friend of ours jokingly said we better eat before we go because the food is finger food but we got the Grand Tea option and boy, we were happy we didn't eat before. By the time we got to the cute lil desserts, we were stuffed! Each item was filled with flavor and Uber cutesy. Very pleasing to the eye. We also choose two different teas and omgeee soooo good! We were very happy with our selections as they were each different from the others that we had chosen. We had milk and sugar on our table for the teas too. The cup and saucers were all very cute. Loved it all. Lastly, I love how it's family owned and we were checked on several times by all the staff. They were super sweet and very accommodating even though the place was packed with big groups of people. This is a GREAT place to visit for high tea- for all ages and genders. There were plenty of men customers that were also having a great time. Looking around- looked like every one enjoyed this atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable too. For what we received- and the ambience, well worth it! Just make your reservations because it's small and gets busy.

I've been here twice now and both times were beautiful, tasty, and relaxing. It's a perfect spot for bridal activities, Mother's Day, or girls brunch! The service is friendly and welcoming. We had someone in our group who was a dairy free, and they accommodated her no problem. The fruit, pastries, sandwiches, and soups were delicious and very filling. There were many options for tea as well. Parking is street, but I didn't have a problem either time.

I am so impressed by the care and variety The Grand Tea Room has for people who cannot eat gluten! I have Celiac disease, so I expected to just drink tea and enjoy spending time with my friends while they went through all the courses and baked goods. The friend who made the reservation made sure they had some gluten free options for me, so I thought I might have a single gluten free baked good, fresh fruit, and maybe a salad if they did not already put croutons in it. We started with a lovely fresh fruit cup with a thick, sweet cream on top. We chose our first two teas, both great. Then we ordered our food courses... They had 2 gluten free soups that they served with gluten free toast! I was served my own pewter tower of gluten free goodies: a little gluten free shepherd's pie with a gravy they made just for me that was gluten free, a gluten free brownie, 3 types of finger sandwiches, a gluten free blueberry muffin, a cup of chocolate mousse topped with sweet cream, a gluten free cherry tart, and my own sides of clotted cream, lemon curd, and strawberry preserves. What a treat! I thought they must get their selection of gluten free baked goods from De'Anna's Gluten Free Bakery, but the owner said they make all of them in house. It has been 24 hours and I have not had a single gluten symptom.

Such a cute place. Food is amazing. Been here a few times and did the theater this time around. The play that goes wrong is so hilarious. Food and tea are AMAZING. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. The owner makes her presence and you can see her passion and love for her business. Definitely a must when in Escondido!
