Succotash is such a fun and memorable place for brunch in Kansas City. The menu is full of unique and interesting options that make it hard to choose just one thing. The staff was very nice and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They don’t take reservations, but even with a party of six, we were seated fairly quickly since we arrived early for brunch. My son wanted to visit after hearing about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s great experience there, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The coffees were excellent, and I loved that they had Topo Chico in glass bottles. The pancake was enormous and came with a smile made out of eggs and bacon, which added a fun touch. The food was imaginative, and everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. The salt level was a little lighter than I usually prefer, but that’s easy to adjust at the table. The Monte Crisco French Toast was a bit flaccid. The restaurant itself is eclectic and beautiful, set in a vintage, beautifully aged building that adds so much character to the experience. Overall, it’s a charming spot with creative food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere, definitely worth the visit.

What a quirky, cozy spot for breakfast and lunch! I loved the unique atmosphere and the smell of coffee. I got the Vegan Sink and was not disappointed in flavor nor volume. Portions are large! I ordered a beet-based drink that was also amazing. Next time I'll go for breakfast so I can enjoy the coffee and try the Elvis French Toast. You order at the back and they bring your food to the table. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only negative is the on-street parking which can be tricky to find. It worth going, and I will be back.

We had a party of six, which is hard to do here (tables are max of four). Luckily, two tables that were right next to each other opened up a few minutes after we ordered. No line when we walked in at 9:30, but by the time we finished ordering it was long. Good food and coffee options. Food was out relatively quick. The staff was nice, but a few of the customers seemed pretty self entitled.

Delicious breakfast spot with impeccable vibes! Very cozy with lots of unique food and drink options. I had the kitchen sink and a rosemary caramel latte. Will definitely be back next time I’m in KC!

It's my first time being here and I've got to say that interior is very kitchy. It's got a nice homey vibe and the staff is extremely nice to everyone. If you're looking for an amazing brunch spot look no further. Included is the full biscuits and gravy which was absolutely amazing The gravy was done perfectly and the biscuits are nice and doughy and it all just works out really well.

Good food! Super cute vibe. Loved the caramel rosemary oat milk latte! They had the tallest sunflower I’ve ever seen right outside the door. 🌻

Nice atmosphere and friendly service! We ordered the Vegan Sink and Farmer’s Plate—both came out quickly and the portions were big. It was a bit busy but still easy to find a seat. Drinks (fresh OJ and iced coffee) were delicious. Prices felt a little high—about $46 before tip for two meals and drinks—and the 20% preset tip screen felt off for a counter-service spot. Overall, okay food and good drinks/atmosphere!

We had a nice experience on a Sunday. We arrive right before the rush hit. Food came out hot and fresh, service was kind and helpful. The pancakes were huge and delicious. Hubs got the kitchen sink and said it was good. Will be back!

GET THE ELVIS Best thing we ate hands down! The crispy caramelized pieces of the bananas and the caramel syrup was the star! The toast was light and fluffy but soaked up everything well without being soggy (PS ITS ALSO VG) The monte cristo was flavorful but not our favorite. The coffee was amazing, not too bitter and smooth! The seasonal drinks we got were so refreshing and very vibrant. The pancake could feed a family of four...or one grown man who loves pancakes. Definitely a showstopper size wise. Staff is friendly and so fun! This is a queer friendly establishment and they love to vibe with all who come. It's a must! Expect a line! Order and pay at counter before seating your party.

My wife and I hadn't been to Succotash for years and I thought we were due for a visit after it was featured in the KC Star. I really wanted to get some fresh squeezed OJ, and I scratched that itch. I've always enjoyed the juiced options here. I ordered a Build Your Own breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage gravy, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. I was beyond satisfied with that choice. My wife ordered the pancakes and the pancakes are good but there's something different about the syrup. We don't like it, and that's why I stayed away from the pancakes. Everyone working there was very friendly. They helped us get setup at a table with a high chair for our toddler.

I had heard good things, but my experience exceeded my high expectations. Great gluten-free choices, friendly and fast service, big portions, delicious food, what more could you ask for? I'll be back and I'll be bringing friends.

This place is a real, old-fashioned diner. The pancakes are bigger than your head, and everything that I have had here has been great. We had the short stack and the Southwest Kitchen sink, and the proportions were huge. I would definitely recommend sharing any plates, or planning to take leftovers home! I was not super impressed with the iced coffee, so I would recommend getting a normal cup of coffee or juice.

I can't do dairy so I did the vegan French toast. The toast itself was not sweet but overall good (tasted vegan). Eggs were great. Salmon Benedict was good, but could have used for capers and hollandaise sauce. Lavender latte hit the spot

I was initially frightened when I saw the setup here: you wait in a long line, order, get a number, then sit down. The space is tiny and space is elbow-to-elbow...how could this possibly work?! Well, the system just works. I don't know how, but it does. The input flow magically matches the output flow. I ordered the pork has and grabbed a stool at the bar. It arrived disturbingly fast. Almost food-court-Chinese-fast. It was plated beautifully and tasted incredible. My only critique is that I wish it came with a house-made hot sauce rather than the assortment of spicy vinegars. I was so impressed that the very next day I came here again! This is my favorite type of breakfast joint, everything is housemate, and a great mixing in melting of old school and new school breakfast ideas!

This place is super cute! My friends and I walked in randomly on a Saturday for breakfast and we had a group of 11 people. The staff was very nice to us and it was easy for us to find seating. On top of this the food we ordered came out quickly and everything was delicious! I don't have much else to say other than the service was awesome, the food was great, and the coffee was made perfectly! If you're looking for a sit down breakfast place in KC I would definitely check this place out!

This place is so fun and energetic! The staff is so friendly and serve up amazing food and drinks! This time I had a matcha but typically go for a coffee and it is delicious. This has a vintage feel with a modern take on breakfast!

It's been years since I've been here. I had the Southwest sink & an iced Lavender vanilla latte. Way too much salsa verde on the sink for my taste but the overall flavor was really good. The latte was also really good!! Great customer service & no wait time. Staff was very friendly.

Meh! Just meh. Overpriced for sure. The waiter looked like he hadn't showered or changed clothes in at least 2 weeks. Restaurant went past quirky at some point and now just looks dirty and unkempt. The only reason I don't give it 1 star is because the food was good. Not great mind you, but good. Actually the more I read what I'm writing I'm not sure why I didn't check 2 stars. Lucky for them I'm too lazy to go back and change it. Kinda like people that don't shower or wash their clothes.

Stopped by Succotash for brunch with a friend a few months ago. It's been a few years since my last visit and it's still just as busy. If memory serves, logistics are a bit different - you now order at the counter, seat yourself, and the food is delivered. We waited in line for a while but the food was delivered quickly after sitting down. There are a couple vegan options - I ordered the Vegan Sink which I enjoyed and was a generous enough portion size to need a to-go box. Overall, a great option for weekend brunch - especially if you're not a reservation person or forgot to make one elsewhere.

I came here with a friend for brunch on Saturday morning. I had heard a ton of great things about the place and really wanted to try more of KCs iconic restaurants. The atmosphere is a 10/10.- serving old diner vibes with eclectic decor. The neighborhood around seemed nice with a couple of cute shops that would be good to stop into after a meal here. Youu do have to wait for your full party to be there before ordering and finding a table to sit at which can make for a long wait time if the person you're waiting for is a bit later. We got in line when it was out the door and to be honest it moved fairly quickly. Finding a table wasn't too bad as someone was leaving and offered us their seat. The food also came out quickly which I was pleasantly surprised about! I had the veggie Sink and they cooked the potatoes, eggs, and veggies to perfection. The only reason I gave a 4 is because the mushroom gravy on top was lacking seasoning. Overall though, really cute spot with great options for vegans/vegetarians/carnivores. If you're around the area it's a nice place to stop, but maybe only an occasional place for special occasions if you're traveling from farther away.

We went to Succotash for an early breakfast. It wasn't very busy inside. You order at the counter and then sit down with your number while they bring out your food. Water is free and self-service. The inside was rustic and cozy. The ambiance was very charming and I loved the artwork they had displayed on the walls. The staff was very nice and friendly. The seating was a bit close, which I normally wouldn't mind, but it did make it difficult for accommodating a 2 year old. My husband ordered the BLET (BLT with an egg). He thought it was pretty good. He loves eggs on his sandwiches and was pleased. I ordered the Egg scramble with cheddar cheese, sausage, and bacon which was also pretty good. The flavor was yummy, but the meat was a little overdone. My daughter got pancakes and ate hers right up. Overall, the food was all pretty good in a nice atmosphere.

Love the environment here. Kitchen sink was really good but definitely a heavier dish. Strawberry matcha was super refreshing. I'll be back and will try something else maybe a bit lighter next time!!

The food here is hit and miss sometimes but the vibe is really cool. On a recent trip for Father's Day they messed up my order, but I've gotta say that the GM saved the day. The guy is an excellent staff member and took full accountability for the mishap. He even went to the back to cook our pancake. Let's just get this right: KC is terrible for breakfast options, however this place delivers when it needs to. Quick, reasonably priced, and the right GM!

Great food and friendly service. The biscuits with mushroom gravy and the Southwest sink were some of my favorites. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Kansas City

This is a cool little place. We went for brunch on Sunday. We were not quite sure what to do when we arrived. You go along the wall and pay at the register and take a number to your table. I had a Benedict which was very good. It was on beer bread and they added an heirloom tomato. GF got Monti christo. Also very good. The tea has mint in it, which was a pleasant surprise. Staff very friendly. We'll go again for sure!

Food-4/5 Atmosphere-5/5 Service-5/5 Succotash is such a vibey place to go grab brunch. It's filled with eclectic art and bold colors with really friendly staff. I liked the options on the menu because they have your traditional brunch favorites coupled with cute things like pigs in a blanket. I ordered the Cubano fresh juice that had fresh mint, pineapple, and a mix of other things and it was really refreshing! I was feeling traditional this morning so I just got pancakes and bacon and they were good. I snuck some of my husband's breakfast potatoes and I almost ordered a side for myself! I would recommend those above anything else because they were really good! I can't wait to go back and try something else next time.

Overall, it's a solid breakfast/brunch place in Kansas City. The Cake & a Smile pancake with the addition of blueberries was delicious, and the pancake was huge. However, the sausages were yummy but not that special. As for the inside, it had a trendy hipster look into it.

Order at the counter and find your seat in this hip, alternative cafe. Humongous pancakes and mushroom gravy with biscuits are among the stars of the menu, as are the egg benedicts. The line may be long, but it's more than worth it.

Succotash was recommended by a Facebook community. The menu was fun to read and although there was quite a long line, we moved pretty quick. Ordering process is efficient and the service is really good. The portions are HUGE so be hungry or bring a friend. The menu is pretty extensive so I'm sure you'll find something for everyone.

Succotash is the place to go with your friends from out of town on a Saturday morning. The atmosphere is fun and funky, and it makes it a great place to hang out. Since the first time I came, the layout has changed a little bit so the place feels a bit emptier and lacks some of the character it once had, but that's not so noticeable if you come at the morning breakfast hour when there are lots of people. Apart from ambiance, Succotash's food is good enough. The breakfast food is good and I do really like one or two of their sandwiches, but you mostly come here for the ambiance. Considering the coffee, the price point, and the experience, it's a good way to spend brunch.

Alright so my last review of Succotash dates to 2017, before Queer Eye came and made a splash on this little gem, and before COVID changed how they operate. Succotash was in my regular rotation for years, especially when I worked in the crossroads my co-workers and I used to come here for a fun lunch away from the office from time to time and honestly it was always such a fun place to escape to midday. So, you might ask why bother updating a review when you are going to give the same rating? The reason is because things have changed and while I still think it's a 4/5, the changes are worth noting. The main reason I came here to write this follow up review is that I had been hesitant to return to Succotash since COVID because I'd heard about how they changed from table service to order at the counter. Usually this doesn't bother me, but Succotash is a KC icon at this point and can be hard to get into. Adding in the sweat of ordering and then hoping and praying you get a table to eat at, just isn't really my scene. This past December it was my birthday though, and I really had a hankering for one of their kitchen sink scrambles and thought, what the hell, we aren't in a hurry, it's an off day, let's give it a shot. So, myself, my husband, and my daughter all stopped in for a fun birthday brunch. I will say, it's nice to not have to wait for a table, and the line was short on the day we went, but still, it was indeed stressful to find a spot to sit. There were at least two tables of four people that were done eating and just hanging out while we waited to find a table for three. It was getting so obnoxious that I almost went to talk to them. Luckily we did get a table, but it was pretty much exactly what I had feared before returning. My big question is what happens if your food is ready and you don't have a table? Do you just take it to go? Do you wait until a table is ready and hope one of the other table vultures doesn't grab it before you do? My food was great. The staff was great, I'm just really not into the seat yourself strategy at this restaurant. I'll for sure return, but it'll be on off days, and off times. No way I'll deal with the stress of it during the main rush.

Succotash is great! Parking was a little complicated to find since it was mostly just on the street. Was able to walk in with a larger group on a Friday morning and grab a table outside. The line to order food moved fast and our food came out quickly. Though our table received multiple numbers so our food came out at different times. Everything was pretty good! I ordered the Immunity Boost juice and Mushroom Benedict - the hollandaise was the winer of this dish for sure!

I ordered the Southwestern Kitchen Sink, it was a very generous portion. The chorizo wasn't too spicy yet flavorful. My sister ordered the Ham Benedict. The Service was amazing and the ambiance was eclectic

I was looking forward to trying this place out, but was quickly disappointed. After ordering and sitting down I noticed how dirty the place was. Dead bugs in the window and a thick film of dirt covered everything...even the white cake plate, walls were brown at the floor from who knows what. Made me wonder how clean the kitchen was. Cleanliness and quality did not match pricing. Sadly disappointed.

The atmosphere is very home like! The rosé lemonade was tasty and beautiful! There was literally edible glitter in it and now i dont want to drink lemonade any other way . The house hash browns/ home potatoes we're crisp and seasoned perfectly . Loved the mushrooms in the egg Benedict And although i am not vegan i have a few vegan friends and the vast vegan options are nice!

Very friendly staff, fun low key retro hipster vibes. The best Cuban sandwich I have ever had! The home fries were also great. My Wife had the smoked salmon Benedict (hold the capers) which she throughly enjoyed. I also ordered a tropical unsweetened iced tea, so much win! The tea was served in a huge mason jar, this is common practice in some small town Midwest bars which I truly hate, but for this tea with a straw, it was perfect. We stoped in around 8AM on Labor Day and we were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered without having to wait and our food came out crazy fast, I'm talking sub-ten minutes fast. I really loved this place. It would be a regular stop for us if we lived in KC.

Yep! Yes! Absolutely! I was at a conference at The Westin. I Yelped soul food breakfast, and Succotash popped up. .6 miles. I can walk. I set off on my uphill journey. This meal was worth every step. It's a corner store type of place. Kitchy. You stand in line to order your food, then grab a table and they bring it to you. The line was out of the door, but by the time I ordered, tables were clear for seating. I got the Swedish pancakes. They didn't warn me that they were using ligonberry jam, versus ligonberry preserve or simple syrup from actual ligonberries. Good flapjacks, though. The bacon and eggs were average. They advertised strawberry Chai, but had been out for a day. I had the coconut cold brew. Delicious! Service was great!

Stopped here in a Saturday for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised there was no line or long wait! My girlfriend & I both had the Favorite Breakfast Sandwich which was a solid 9/10 with a super soft bun & delicious sauce. The potatoes that came with the sandwich were a 6/10, just needed more seasoning. Our friend had the Pigs in a Blanket which looked amazing. The ambiance was casual and friendly, perfect for a quick stop in our way out of town. Overall the experience was an 8.2/10, would definitely come back.

Finally got the chance to check out Succotash and it was soooo good. Walked Sunday morning over and there was no wait around 8:15am. I've heard it gets busy later in the morning. The service was friendly and we got our food quickly. The coffee was just like good diner coffee. Seating was open and there were many options. The menu is really broad and has lots to choose from. The pancakes were awesome and I highly recommend.

I felt very comfortable here, a nice breakfast stop for a tourist who wants something a little more chill. Love the seating and the pay at the front style. Also, self-serve coffee!!!! Like before COVID!!! So great! I just needed to find "my dish". Maybe next time I'm here to watch the Royals blunder a should be win.

Really liked this place! You can sense the character of the neighborhood it's located in and Succotash is a nice addition. With eclectic art inside, friendly staff, and great food I think this is a place anyone would enjoy. I had the favorite breakfast sandwich and it was exactly what I was looking for. Familiar ingredients but they put their own take on it. I also feel like everyone does a side of potatoes/hash browns somewhat differently and I definitely look forward to having theirs again as well. Looking forward to trying more from this place.

Stopped by here while visiting KC. Have been to this place each time I have come to visit so it's good! You order at the counter then find your seat after. They are busy and it can look crowded but people clear out pretty fast so there's never been a wait for a tables. This is also because the food comes out very fast which is awesome because after a night of partying I needed my food! I had the Swedish pancakes which were great. This is the perfect amount of food for me. They were sweet and soft and love that it comes with a side of bacon and eggs. My friend got the pork hash which was delicious especially to eat with the tortilla. Definitely a must for breakfast when in Kansas City!

Was in town for a Chiefs game from the east coast and looking for something unique and local. Go hungry as these portions are huge. Tables fill up quick. Great eclectic atmosphere and friendly staff. Had the Southwest Kitchen Sink as I'm a chorizo fan - excellent! My kids had the pancakes - as big as the plate. Highly recommend!

Food is amazing. I am not a fan of the specialty drinks. But otherwise it's worth the wait. Ya. You will have to wait usually. Line out the door. Service is quick. The portion size is good to large and flavor is on point.

Everything was amazing. Got a blueberry pancake that was enough for two. Burrito was delicious, rosemary caramel iced coffee was great. Great vibes, quick service. Definitely coming back here for brunch in the future.

Had been through messenger for a couple weeks about trying to attempt their old Sumo breakfast challenge and they were awesome to communicate with. We were able to arrange a day and time that worked for both them and my family. We showed to the restaurant still pretty crowded so I was afraid they may both have the ability to make it, but they were expose and made it work. The staff was great through the whole process. My kids both got kids Pigs in a Blanket, wifey had a sandwich and they all enjoyed the food. The sumo came out and was enormous. Definitely had my doubts. Was told it was between 11-13 lbs and I believe it. I took almost the full hour allotted to get the for free for the challenge part, but somehow I did it. Very support and no pressure at all the staff to finish quickly. Thank you to the whole team there for going out of their way to make it possible.

Kids French Toast (unpictured strawberry matcha) were delicious! I'm never one to eat a whole plate of french toast but this was the perfect portion size. The service was amazingly fast and everything was perfect. Great place to bring kids and plenty of space when we went for bigger parties. Can easily get food to go quickly. Staff were all very friendly and made sure our visit was pleasant! Excited to return!

This morning I once again found myself at Succotash. Anytime my friends and I are wanting to go to breakfast or brunch, so many options are thrown out, but Succotash always wins us over. 1) Not only is their food delicious and consistent, but they provide a variety of vegan and gluten-free options, so there's and option for everyone in your party. The mushroom eggs Benedict and the breakfast potatoes always hit the spot. 2) Even when the line looks long, it moves fast thanks to fast counter service ordering. Once you've ordered, there is ALWAYS an open table. 3) The vibes are simply unmatched. From tasty eccentric dishes, so the sometimes unsettling painting of a woman eating tomato soup on the wall, Succotash is unique among breakfast spots that can be all the same. If you're looking for an INCREDIBLE casual breakfast or brunch, Succotash won't disappoint.

The smoked salmon salad was not what I was expecting. I'd take it off the menu or alter the menu item. Very plain beyond all knowing.

Such a cute find in KC! Came here for a conference and decided to eat through KC while we were here. They have a wide variety of items and everything tasted so good! I got the pork hash, and so flavorful! My friend for the pigs in the blanket which is sausages wrapped in crepes and WOW that was just absolutely delicious! The combination of the savory sausage and the sweet crepe, I don't know, it was so good! It is quite dense though and one order comes with four of the rolls. We also got their lavender vanilla latte -- also delicious, and they have oat milk! They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff are super friendly!

When everyone recommends Succotash for brunch, you have to try it! We went at around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and waited in line for about 10 minutes before ordering. I'm so glad that we came then because the line grew astronomically while we waited on our food/ate! The meal itself was yummy and their syrup was elite. I think the pricing is on-par with most other brunch places that I have been to, but definitely in the moderate range ($6 for iced latte, $3 for bottomless coffee). However, I think Succotash has the advantage of cute vibes and wonderful staff that makes the wait and pricing well worth it. Can't wait to come back! TL;DR good vibes, good people, good food. Go early!!
