Top notch breakfast. The cinnamon roll was on point. The biscuits and gravy was packed full of flavor. The quiche may have taken the crown, but truly everything we ordered was delicious. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Their prices were great especially considering how amazing everything tasted. Overall if you love food and want to be blown away with amazing flavors come here!

The Guenther House was great! I found this place by googling breakfast spots near us and it was so delicious. My husband and I each had a breakfast plate with biscuits, gravy, eggs, and your choice of breakfast meat. The service was good and everyone was friendly. It was very magical outside with little lights and the weather was very nice luckily. We got there at 9 am on Saturday and there was about a 30 minute wait- fyi it got MUCH busier at like 10 am. The biscuits were a must-some of the best and the gravy was my second favorite thing. The only thing that needed help was the hot cocoa. It was very watery and there was barely any chocolate flavor we were expecting richer flavor for a $7 hot cocoa. We were about to leave and saw the size of the cinnamon roll so we got one to go! It was also fantastic. Definitely go and check out the gift shop too! Go early and expect to wait about 30 minutes or so.

What a great experience!! The food was definitely worth the wait, from the lunch food to the breakfast was so amazing! Great atmosphere! Great service and they even have a gift shop upstairs! I got to grab there well know jams in a trio and there grade A maple syrup! Would definitely be going back and it was a great way to end my weekend in San Antonio! Would recommend a million times ! And our sever was great she was awesome! Oh and don’t forget to grab a cup a Joe!

Our friends gave us a bag of coffee 20 years ago. So we decided to go to Guenther House for our anniversary. Walked a mile through beautiful neighborhoods to get there. I was pretty excited about the chicken salad, something they are known for but they didn’t have it. Service was not great and very slow despite it not being busy. However the food was very good when it finally arrived. Chicken sandwich and quiche were very good. Highly recommend those.

This place is really cute and it’s built in an old house, but it’s really kind of a hype thing. We waited about 45 minutes and that was a good day. We tried to come before and it was an hour and a half. No reservations so you just have to get on the list and then be semi close by to come when they text. The building The seating is indoor or outdoor, and the outdoor has some cooling effects. You can explore the house and that’s nice. And they have a little gift shop. Also, insanely cute bathrooms Parking Parking is all around the street, and it’s free. Service The waiter could’ve been nicer. Sometimes he seemed curt whenever we were asking more questions. Food The, chicken and waffles were the stand out. They were so good if I went back. That’s what I would go back for. The sandwich with chicken though was pretty basic and Chick-fil-A is better so it’s not something that I would go back for for a brunch, but if I was dying for chicken and waffles, I would go back. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because the food seemed pretty basic for waiting that long and some of it wasn’t even that good An example was the pineapple was not ripe, and it was almost in Inedible. The iced coffee came with one free refill which is a nice bang for your buck.

No complaints on this joint. Very neat atmosphere. You’re sitting in a very old house which was really neat. The food was very good, you were not left wishing for more and price seemed on point. Waitress was nice and kept up with us well.

Amazing place to visit!! Lovely gift shop, delicious food, gorgeous museum, and lovely staff as well! Everything is kept clean inside. I adored the restaurant, the interior is super cute! Definitely would like to try to dine outside on a good day as well! I highly recommend their quiche, though it changes often, hopefully you can try the one with jalapeños, cheese, and chorizo!! I am obsessed with that quiche and want it everyday for breakfast. Would love to try their desserts sometime soon! I want to go back already!

Beautiful breakfast area! Historic in its nature on the grounds of museum! EVERYTHING was fresh!! Environmentally conscious from the glassware, napkins and management of the space! There is outdoor seating, but we prefer indoor! Highly recommend. The wait time for seating and food was a little long, but the food was well worth it!! Our server , Mychala, very good! Highly recommend!

Went for an amazing breakfast! Ended up buying a couple bags of coffee to go! Delicious

If you like southern breakfasts featuring biscuits and gravy and lots of butter in a quaint and deeply historical building on the edge of one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in San Antonio, you are looking at the right place. The breakfast we had was the "1851" plate which included the breakfast mainstays - eggs, excellent bacon, a huge biscuit and a little bowl of gravy laden with sausage pieces. The coffee was their own "Founders" signature roast with lots of flavors added which was very tasty for restaurant coffee. Service was very slow however, but very friendly and with frequent visits from the coffee man! The main cafe room is drafty but bright and otherwise pleasant. Next time I come though I will ask to be seated in the smaller and more cozy dark wood-paneled room. They also have lots of outside seating under a large canopy. Wherever you sit, be sure to venture upstairs after brunch to tour the museum portions of the house, the gift shop and the banquet room up top with the balcony overlooking the Riverwalk and a view of the King William neighborhood. Then take at least a half hour to walk across the river to tour the lovely mansions in the King William district.

The Guenther House is a King Williams/Downtown staple. The food, service, setting, store, Staff are all exceptional no matter when you go! Coffee is very good! Great for breakfast or brunch or whatever you want. I promise no one will leave disappointed and you will go back. So very affordable and the servings are very gracious. All the food is cooked to order and as fresh as you can get it. Great job Guenther House, I've been going for over 20 years and I'm not stopping anytime soon. Stop thinking about it and just go!

This has always been one of my favorite local places to enjoy a tasty breakfast or even lunch! Their house coffee is worth having at least 3 cups! You can even purchase Kcups or regular grounded coffee from their too cute gift shop. They own the Pioneer Flour Company and their food reflects their pride. Anything your order is made with heart and every delicious ingredient! Martin is the sweetest longtime server there and it's always a pleasure having him. He's so kind, patient and tentative! I'm so in love with the history of this home and how they keep it so authentic. During Christmas time is the best time to visit with all of their decorations. It's stunning and memorable!

Loved loved this place ! So cute especially the outside sitting! The museum is a plus for free and it's worth it. The champagne enchiladas were good but they're on flour which surprised me and I did not like. Other than that their hot chocolate was good and hot. It's definitely a MUST GO TO for brunch ! And the location is great. Great parking too and super clean place. Friendly staff which is always appreciated except the wait for certain stuff was a little too much but it was busy on the weekend so it's understandable. (Grace was the nicest server)

A great spot to grab breakfast/lunch. I'd suggest sitting outside if the weather is nice out. Id recommend getting on their waist list online as this page can get busy. But the food is well worth it! And don't forget to check out their seasonal specials and take a walk around the shop inside.

The food was decent and the atmosphere is cool but nothing exceptional. Definitely worth going at least once or if your visiting from out of town, but it won't be come a local favorite for me.

We ate here for a company outing. Beautiful place, rich in history but the food is overhyped. The store had some really neat/cute things, but was super expensive. I prob wouldn't go back. But. Our server was amazing. She did take an hour to take our order, I think bc she thought we were too busy talking. Natasha. Or Karen, depending if you're happy or upset with her. She was hilarious and fun. And kinda stuck out from the expectation. She made the lunch for sure. My three stars is based on food taste and price. If I was just rating the service, 10. Despite the wait.

The sweet pancakes are absolutely the best. We live in Miami and we regularly order the pancake mix through their website to be delivered because my children love the pancakes so much. Their staff is amazing and helpful. Nancy has been an absolute doll and pleasure to communicate with. They are simply the best!!!

This is a historic San Antonio spot right on the Riverwalk. It is just south of downtown and the tower for the flour factory is highly visible from many areas. I stopped by due to its many reviews and its proximity to my AirBnB. I waited approximately 25 minutes to get a table outside with a view of the river. It wasn't that hot that day but they had the fans going to circulate the air. The service was sluggish. It took awhile for them to bring me water and I had to ask several times. The house coffee was delicious and was the best thing I had. I enjoyed the sweet cream waffle with blueberries and chicken tenders. I specifically requested the blueberries. Much to my chagrin the blueberries (less than a cups worth) was an additional $4.25. Overpriced in my opinion. The presentation of the food was lackluster. They definitely failed at plating but the taste of sweet cream waffle was good, but no where near amazing. I asked a couple of other folks who tried the place whether or not they liked it. They said it was fine but they wouldn't go back again. I would second that opinion. The house tour is free and you can do it within 1/2 an hour if you're in a time crunch. Stop in but don't expect a lot in the department of the food and service department.

Natasha our server was amazing. She was handling multiple tables like a champ even taking on a table that another server couldn't handle. She was funny and quick witted, she made me feel like i was her only person in the place every time she checked on me. The Guenther house has always had a special place in our hearts. So the decorations were perfect for fiesta. Just enough to be seen but not too much. I had the San Antonio quiche. Which had potatoes, chorizo, bacon, jalapeños, and onions. It was just right in portion size. The side of potatoes were seasoned well with salt and pepper. I added some cholula for kick and it was too much so i cut back. To finish off the meal without even asking, Natasha brought my husband and I to go cups for our drinks. If you do come here try to sit outside if the weather is good because the views of the river walk and King William area. Inside is a small museum with a gift shop that talks about the history. During holidays they have a huge gingerbread house display.

The Gunther House is a San Antonio restaurant you must go to. The history alone is quite interesting and unique to see. Amazing homemade classic southern food made it fresh from the factory that is right next-door. I will say it takes a while to get seated, but it is well worth it and everyone is super friendly. A must try I would say.

Very cool looking place. The service was fantastic and the food came out very fast. I had the Strawberry Waffle and the waffle was very moist and fluffy. The bacon was cooked just right and the eggs were made correctly. I didn't get the biscuits but I did see a lot of people getting them . They look very fluffy , they were probably 3" tall. Definitely give this place a try. One more thing, gps will not take you to parking. Parking is on Alamo st.

Wait time was told to us as 45 minutes to an hour. We waited an hour and a half for a table food came out cold wait staff was nice. Restaurant is beautiful but two to the wait time and the poor quality of food. I don't think we'll be back Food quality was one step above Cracker Barrel or Kelley's definitely not worth the wait or cost...

We wanted a new place for breakfast as we planned a coffee date. We were thrilled that we found the Guenther House, the house coffee was better than I had imagined with a gentle kick, yet so aromatic in taste! You have a toss of pancakes or waffles plus other hearty dishes. I'm not a waffle person but decided to get the chicken and waffles... again thrilled with my decision because each bite was delicious and very tasty not too sweet! The staff are all professional and polite! There's a showcase of coffee cakes and strudels but I'll have to try 'em next time. After your meal, you get to visit a small shop of culinary and historical goods upstairs then a parlour from 1860 with fascinating original structures and beautiful antique furniture along with other momentous history. The view is almost the best, indoor or outdoor you'll be over satisfied and happy you chose them too!

Martin was me and my boyfriends server, and what an amazing job he did!! He has such a bright energy and really made us feel welcomed here. This place really is so cozy and has amazing food. My boyfriend got the 1851 platter and I got the pumpkin spice pancakes (:

You hear good things about this place for a reason! It's a special little place. The restaurant is based out of a beautifully restored home. They have a mini museum where you get to tour the home of the founder of Pioneer Flour Mills, which is nice because it gives you something to do while you wait. The restaurant operated on a first come first served basis with no reservations or call ahead seating. So come with that in mind. You can browse around the gift shop and make your way to bakery for a coffee or pastry while you wait too. It's right on the Riverwalk so you could take a stroll along the water or through the pretty neighborhood while you wait too. Good news is the wait is worth it! We had the joy of having Natasha as our server. She was upbeat, attentive, and friendly. We had the best service! And the food was incredible. My man and I split a couple plates so we got to try a few different things. We got the chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and the quiche which was the special of the day. Everything was delicious, but the quiche by far stood out!! It was out of this world good!! I hope it's been added to every day menu because it blew us away. We ate on the patio outside in early March and it was perfect weather. One thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol so if you're looking for bottomless mimosas, this isn't the place to go. But if you're looking for a delicious, wholesome breakfast, this is your spot. Would recommend!!

We are in town helping a friend move to San Antonio. We wanted a breakfast spot and I seen this was recommended. We sat inside and Martin was our server. The service was not that bad. The prices for was egg by itself was a little extreme. For one egg it cost $2.95. A biscuit was $3.75. The food wasn't back but the biscuit was a little dry. You will only get 1 free refill with a soft drink. I had gotten the 1851 breakfast platter and it was really good! I wish I would have had 1 more piece of bacon. The potato's were really good just a little heavy on pepper. My fiancé had the chicken and sweet cream waffle. It was just some regular chicken tenders and a Belgium waffle. With the syrup the waffle was pretty good! The chicken tenders were just regular chicken nothing extravagant. If the price of everything wasn't so expensive by itself I would definitely recommend. But if you want to try something new I would say you should come here, but I wouldn't probably come back. It is right by the river and it's a very beautiful place!

We arrived on Saturday morning at opening and were seated quickly. Lovely area outside with heaters, but a bit too cold for that. Our waiter was friendly and courteous. I had strawberry sweet cream waffle. It was tasty, fluffy and required little to no syrup! Their coffee is delicious. The biscuit was phenomenal and bacon extra crispy and tasty. Only downsides was it was a bit drafty indoors and table was wobbly. I would give closer to 4.5 if I could!

After reading the reviews and hearing about great brunch spots around San Antonio I finally had the opportunity to try The Guenther House over by Southtown! This historic home is from around the late 1800s very impressive material and preservation! Upon arriving parking is located by Alamo Street gated and make your way towards the house where there is a hostess stand outside during great weather like the day my wife and I visited. There is plenty of outdoor seating however with our little one we opted for indoor seating. The restaurant is located on the bottom floor (underground) accessible by taking stairs down to it. Let's begin with the service, the staff was very friendly and informative recommended their signature coffee and I must say it is the best cup of coffee I've had at a brunch spot. No alcohol on the menu however plenty of beverage and food options! Five star service for the waitress who went out of her way to store our stroller while we made our trip towards the gift shop upstairs and also the venue at the top of the house! Now let's rate the food, I ordered the 1851 Breakfast platter which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage patty and biscuits and sausage gravy! It was delicious and pair it with their breakfast potatoes made for a hearty breakfast! My wife ordered the pancake of the day which was pecan and the pancakes where soft, plush and flavorful! Wash it down with their signature coffee and made for an exceptional breakfast! Purchase some coffee and waffle mix upstairs to make at home and was on my way! The wait on a Friday morning around 10 was about 30 minutes so I can only imagine the weekends being more of a wait and more full so do plan accordingly, however don't let that stop you from giving this place a try! 5 stars for service, ambiance, history and their rich and hearty breakfast, and by the way don't forget the pastry! Service was terrible but food was good. If you have plenty of time to wait for your food and don't expect it to come out all together, then you won't be disappointed.

We had several recommendations to try The Guenther House for breakfast so we did. All in all, it was a solid breakfast. The biscuits are huge, I could have gone for just one but did my best with the two that came with the "Best" platter. I generally prefer crispier, buttier biscuits and these are huge, fluffy, bready biscuits. Good, though. The gravy was creamy rather than greasy, but I actually think I preferred the fresh (blackberry was my choice) preserves on the biscuit to the gravy. Thick cut, smoky bacon. The fruit cup selection on the side might have been the highlight as it's a big step-up from what most places offer on a dish like this--fresh cantaloupe and pineapple, huge grapes and berries, all great. My wife enjoyed her pancakes as well. Interesting decor and calm overall ambience.

I'm only reviewing the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. But I've purchased them while driving through San Antonio for the past twenty years. And if you he them freshly made they are amazing. Really hard to tell which is better. It's mainly the one I'm eating at the moment. The rest of the restaurant looks awesome and romantic for brunch. I'd do that if I lived in town.

Beautiful & historic - family friendly restaurant next to the river walk. It was decorated nicely for the holidays. Outside, there's plenty of outdoor seating with heaters and blankets. Inside, you're met with hanging pothos plants and stained glass windows and wooden tables. You'll find traditional breakfast items like waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and fruit. Portions are large, the biscuits are huge and there's an array of jams to choose from. Make sure to look into their daily specials. Give the gourmet hot chocolate a try! This was a quaint and relaxed setting for our last morning in San Antonio. Service was attentive.

The food was excellent. Everything was delicious especially the bisquits and gravy. The baked goods were great. The setting is amazing. We ate outside and had a relaxing time. The best part of the brunch was our server. Natchasha was extremely attentive and a great sense of humor. She was so nice and made our day. Everything about the Guenther House is terrific. We will recommend it to all our friends and family.

Beautiful location in Southtown. We were quickly seated by the friendly Staff. The pancakes were delicious and huge. The House blend coffee was so flavorful. We enjoyed it so much we bought a bag of grounds to go from the gift shop. I would definitely come back to the Guenther House again.

We ate on the patio and service was 5 star by Natascha! Russian and so funny and attentive. The patio was nice but unfortunately a bit of a chilly day. Unfortunately, the food was hit or miss. I recommend skipping the pancakes as they were very disappointing - bready and dry. The 1851 platter with biscuits and gravy drew very good reviews, as did the waffle platter. Each plate came with 2 meats. The chicken sausage patty was overcooked and cool. The bacon was barely cooked, slimy, and cold. Obviously, the meats are not cooked to order, but well in advance. The eggs we ordered as add ons were ok and not very tasty honestly. The service gets this review from a 2 star for the food to a 3.5 star rating. Just can't give it a 4. A 1 and done for me.

Beautiful building and grounds. Food is superb and the service is extremely polite and friendly. 100% recommend to make this part of your pit stop.

This place is classic. It's on the river walk. It's historic. Its beautiful. They have great breakfast. I've never had their lunch because you can't beat their pancakes, biscuits or waffles. I hear their coffee is good too. They have inside and outside seating. Of course, sitting outside is the best. They have a gift shop where you can get some of their pancake and waffle mixes. The service is always good. Our waiter looked busy, but that didn't affect our service.

We visited the house, grounds and gift shop. Small but informative outlining the history of the pioneer flour mill. Bought some champagne chicken gravy and snapped a great photo of the home and flour mill looming behind it. There were lots of Sunday afternoon visitors. A nice family ambiance

This is a beautiful restaurant in an amazing historic area in San Antonio. It was a little difficult to find but well worth the search. The home surrounding the restaurant and its outbuildings were gorgeous. I had no idea of the history behind this place. Just on the other side of the restaurant is their flour mill, Pioneer Flour. They make all sorts of flour mixes that you can find in your grocery store. We've been buying this brand for years. On the restaurant side, there is a small bakery at the entrance, a museum and a store on the second floor. There are only 23 tables, so try to get here early because they fill up quick. It was so hard deciding what to order. I went with the short stack of sweet cream pancakes, bacon and fruit. I also ordered a cup of coffee, which of course is their own brand. It was wonderful. I even purchased a bag of beans from the store. When my meal was placed in front of me, I think I may have gasped. The pancakes were huge and oh so fluffy! Everything was wonderful but there was no way that could clear my plate. One of my companions ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was as large as a small child's head. If you are lucky enough to get Natasha as a server, she's not only super cute and funny, but also an outstanding waitress (not the slightest bit cheesy).

Cutest brunch spot. Get here early to get your name on the waitlist then walk the neighborhood. Very beautiful historic homes around. Adorable gift shop! I picked up some gingerbread and biscuit mix. I got their strawberry waffles. They were warm and fluffy and had that crystallized sugar bite that I love!

Taking a leisurely stroll on the quiet part of the Riverwalk and I see this flour mill from 1851. I venture in and check out the cute retail store. Look around the little museum and the beautiful mansion. Notice diners on a patio and the small restaurant with inside seating. Now I had to order a biscuit! OMG! The best biscuit EVER! 2 humongous fluffy biscuits with sausage gravy on the side (and some sweet cream butter too). I wanted to eat both of them but I was stuffed! Service was spotty but very friendly. My only quibble - the dirty dish station (right off the dining area) noise was extremely loud, dishes clanging and banging and took away from the quaintness and beauty of the setting. The display of the daily bakery specials was fantastic! A cinnamon bun the size of my head!

First time customers and we were lost when looking for parking as my map took us to the opposite side of the entrance. Food in mind, we parked and came in through the back. As we walked toward the front, the greeters got our info and informed us that there would be a 35 min wait. They then kindly asked if we'd want inside dining or outside, even offered first available (which has been rare for me)... the wait allowed us to walk and look around at shops right across the street, even came back to enjoy the nice breeze and sit on one of their many sitting areas provided. Once contacted, we were offered a table outside and were blessed to have Natascha as our server. Haven't had the pleasure? Well, she mentioned being their for a few months, so if not for the food, the history, or the beauty of The Guenther, go experience the down to earth and very welcoming personality of Natascha. Food and coffee were good. Looked forward to getting one of the desserts that were listed on the board - was a no go on the Apple strudel but my second option was the cinnamon roll. No regrets! Next trip may just be for dessert; nothing wrong with that. Fed and filled with laughter, I was made to feel at home. Thanks to all the employees, front and back line that help make this place keep going.

Came for breakfast and the house tour & gift shop, such a lovely place! There was a bit of a wait to be seated so I explored the house and gift shop and walked around the view outside. I went with the Guenther's Favorite Breakfast platter, which was 2 (huge!) fresh biscuits, sausage gravy, fruit and I chose bacon and blackberry preserves. Everything was amazing. The biscuits were huge and so soft, the gravy delicious with a slight kick to the sausage, the preserves sweet & delicious and the fresh fruit & bacon balanced it all nicely.

Best place in San Antonio for breakfast or brunch. Great place to explore too. The food is great and everyone is very nice. We will be coming back again soon.

I really wanted to like this place, there's always an hour long wait on the weekends but it didn't live up to the hype. The service wasn't great, we didn't get a few things we asked for, and they mixed up our food. PSA - the biscuits are not normal flakey biscuits. They're closer to a dinner roll almost.

When we approached the waiting area there were water and small cups. Very thoughtful!! The food was great and portions were large. Martin gave us excellent service! The ambiance was pleasant. We went upstairs and looked at the rooms on display. Overall it was very pleasant and we would be pleased to go again.

Absolutely loved this place. The service was great and the food was amazing. This was our first time visiting so we didn't know what to expect. If you go on weekend go afternoon. We went at 10, the wait was about 1hr 30mins. At noon we saw the crowds die down and people were only waiting like 30 mins. Be sure to go downstairs and grab coffee and something from the bakery to enjoy while you wait. The wait was very much worth it.

Everything we had here was delicious! The breakfast tacos were delicious and tortillas were great! The sausage and gravy on the platter was fantastic. The biscuit is dense but tasty! Don't forget to get some jam for your biscuit. The waffle was also delicious and unfortunately we ate it a little too late, and probably should have ate it when it got to the table. Lesson learned. Coffee was great also! Plus they have iced coffee. The staff was awesome as well, great customer service and would check in frequently. The place itself is just nice and it's fun to walk through the house and visit their gift shop.

Was visiting San Antonio for the weekend and stopped here for breakfast on the way out. The food was soo good! I had the Pancakes and they were super fluffy . Also had the house coffee for my beverage and it was very delicious. Highly recommend

The food was great and worth the 1.5 hour wait if you are in the area. Thankfully they do have a waiting area upstairs that you can sit and enjoy the view. The food came out fast and fresh and the serve was very nice. The meal was affordable and enjoyable. If I am in the area again, I would love to go back for a second meal.

Sunday morning, 08:45. Checked in for 10 people and was told 20 to 30 minutes. After 20 minutes was told by hostess it would be a few minutes. 30 minutes after that, went and asked the hostess. She forgot and we were told another hour or more. We left. Terrible hostess. If you have a large party, don't go.
