Big Freedia’s Guide to New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"One of New Orleans’s most famous live music venues, a long-running tour stop that has been hosting local and national musicians since opening in the late 1970s. Big Freedia sums it up: "There are so many great spots, but definitely [this venue] is one. All the locals and the major greats — Neville Brothers, Lenny Kravitz — perform here." - Clair Lorell

The New Orleans Clubs and Music Venues of HBO’s ‘Treme’ | Eater New Orleans

"This Uptown club, one of New Orleans’s most famous, makes several appearances on the show, like when Annie and Harley visit to take in Cajun music and when Davis scouts a hip-hop act. Delmond also plays here." - Missy Frederick

The 19 Best Bars in New Orleans 2024

"There’s no shortage of places to see a show in New Orleans, but Tipitina’s in Uptown is an institution and one of the best places to go for music in the whole city. Stand wherever you feel like, but we suggest the balcony, which has a great view and easy access to a bar. National acts regularly play here, but look for a night with a local brass band instead." - team infatuation, zella palmer

The 23 Best Things to Do in New Orleans

"The unassuming Uptown building with no seats may be over 100 years old, but Tips, as it’s affectionately known, only became a music venue in the 1970s. It quickly cemented its place as a New Orleans music institution: Local brass bands are a particular thing to see here. There are no seats, but you'll likely want to be up on your feet for whatever local talent is about to take the stage by storm. If there are any big music festivals in town, such as Jazz Fest or Voodoo, it’s likely that some of the bands booked will also add a show at Tip’s to their visit to NOLA, or maybe they'll just drop in unexpectedly, you never know." - Paul Oswell
