Tinga Tacos

Was just walking downtown and came across this gem. I has forgotten to eat that day, so when I walked in and saw that not only the atmosphere was comfortable, but the prices were low, I was wondering what the quality of the food was going to be, but, they did not disappoint! I had the make your own taco and the "taco sauce" sauce really pulled the whole meal together. The cashier seemed really kind and when I asked what part of the pig the pork came from, they went and asked the chef with no hesitation (it's the shoulder, by the way, and it was good, too, not dry at all). The food came fresh and fast as well. I will be visiting here a couple times a month I think when I want a lunch when I'm doing business Downtown.

I really liked this place! The lunch deal is great - $10 for two tacos of choice, a side of choice, and a drink. The double deuce taco was pretty good! I got chips and guac for my side and it was probably the best chips and guac I’ve ever had; the tortilla chips are actually seasoned and taste delicious. Would definitely recommend this spot especially for the great lunch deal.

This place was amazing! We went on a Thursday and found out they have select tacos for $1.50 so that was a nice surprise. The Tinga Taco was chicken, cheese, pico, with pickled carrots and onions. The Crusher Taco was beef, cheese, lettuce, and taco sauce. We will be back to try more of these tacos!

Been a Chef most of my adult life; just moved to MO about a year and a half ago. Probably the worst taco ever. To much salt and lime bought 4 taco tried to finish the fourth; but could not. Let the cashier know about the food all she could say is sorry. Should not add salt; let the patron add the salt.

This place has a wide variety of very interesting tacos. Also their chips and queso are exquisite. The chips are extraordinarily thick and crunchy with a seasoning on them the likes I have never tasted. It's located right in the heart of downtown and reasonably priced for the quality of food you receive. I would recommend this place to any taco lover. The seating is limited and the ambience leaves something to be desired but the quality of food more than makes up for it.

Always good service and delicious food. It's in a nice location there seems to be fair amount of parking in the area. It's a good place to eat then walk off your tacos. They have both tofu and black bean tacos and they're delicious.

Paid 13 dollars for a build your own bowl. It was smaller than chiplote bowl. It was a kids meals bowl. I'm definitely still hungry after eating the bowl. Go to chiplote for the price it's bigger and better.

We stopped in to give this place a try. First things first. I wasn't blown away by the friendliness of the girl at the register. She seemed irritated at times through out our order. Mainly because it was our first time in as we didn't really know how to order here. Did not care for that. I got the Tinga Tacos. They seem to have a good lunch special. 2 tacos a side and drink for 10 bucks. Not to shabby. I enjoyed my tacos and the queso is pretty good as well. All said I would give it another try. Plus I know how they want us to order now so maybe the front girl won't be so put out. Peace out

I have not even tasted my food tonight because I am so unhappy. My family chose Tinga Tacos for our "Celebrate our Hispanic Heritage" dinner this evening. We should have went somewhere else. The guys in the back really did not seem to want to be there tonight. They messed up part of our order, so it was a 40 minute round trip to handle that. Since my family likes to eat together, I asked for 4 corn tortillas to replace the tortillas that were breaking down. Apparently, that was a problem. Think twice before trying this place. It's kind of sad because the reviews are pretty good. So I guess our mistake was coming here for dinner instead of lunch.

RUN to get the ( limited time ) mushroom tacos !! If you like flavor , creativity and chef quality you will love these ! And even the simple and so delicious crunchy shells were amazing !! If it would allow me to rate it higher , I would !

I door dashed three different tacos - one chicken one pork one beef. What arrived were three of the same kind - all beef. I ordered corn - didn't get it. Some UI sauce I didn't order was in the bag. It all tasted disgusting - to the point that I kept spitting it out. gave up on it three bites into the meal. $30 down the drain. Never again.

The crusher tacos were very good. The only complaint is that the chips had so much salt. I literally got dehydrated just looking at them. It hurt to eat. It's enough salt to take out an elderly person if they ate it.

I was visiting Missouri and at a food truck festival. I ate at Tinga tacos, and it was literally the best taco I've ever had. I loved the pickled, it was exploding with flavor & so fresh.

Between the 3 of us we tried almost every taco in the menu. We loved them all. We devoured them so fast I forget to take pictures. Even though We were there late on a Friday night everything was still fresh. We will be back for more!

I wasn't impressed at all ! Over priced and was just ok ! Didn't even taste Like tri tip steak , tasted and looked Like pork like carnitas and I'm pretty sure that's what it was ! Not a fan ! Nice and clean inside.

Tinga is a great spot for lunch! We came in with a larger group, and they had our food out in a very swift manner! I got the lunch special, which was two tacos, a side and a drink. The tacos were good. They were pretty slim on the toppings/filling, but the flavors were good and they weren't messy. My favorite thing on my plate was the guacamole--talk about flavorful, textured, and all around delicious! If I had known it was that good, it might've been my meal, compliments to whoever was slingin guac that day! The place is a bit on the smaller side, so I could see the wait being long if they fill up, but I think this was a cool spot to visit on our way through Springfield, and I think that guac alone gives me enough reason to come back and visit!

I was really torn on whether to try this place due to the wildly mixed reviews here. Five stars versus one stars. But, I was in the mood for tacos, so gave it a whirl. While I didn't get one, I absolutely love that they have a cheese curd taco on their menu! I did the BYO with steak (which is shredded), jalapeño corn, cilantro, cheese, and taco sauce. Ummmm. Please may I have 10 more of these? They were perfect. The balance of filling to taco shell was perfect. The taste was on the spot. They were delicious. I also ordered chips and queso. The chips are super crunchy so if you have sensitive teeth you might want to bypass, or grow stronger ones, because the chips are awesome. The seasoning is . The queso is a bit thicker with chunks and I highly recommend. So, why only 4 stars, you might ask? Well.... it was just a tad on the pricey side. For two tacos and the chips and queso, it was just over $15. So, the value wasn't great, but the food is worth it. Also, the young woman working at the counter was a delight!

The cheesy corn is weird. I was thinking that we were getting actual Mexican street corn, but nope. It was "bad," just weird. We ordered: - Shrimp Tacos; - Tofu Tacos; - Cheese Curd Tacos; - Nachos; - Cheesy Corn All of the tacos were good; the cheese curd tacos were the best--so surprisingly delicious. The nachos were okay, but nothing to write home about (but not bad). We'd come back.

Way too greasy!! Just an average taco with an abundance of fat. Perhaps better quality ground beef would be decent. Service was lackluster. The person at the counter didn't seem as if they wanted to be there. It looked pretty clean inside, so that is nice! Oh! If you need your stools loosened, eat away.

Overall this place was great. My wife & I tried 4 tacos: Tinga Taco, Udder Delight, Fu Yu, & Mr. Bean The first two (meat) were pretty decent. The 2nd two are vegetarian options and were even better than the meat-based options! Fresh Mexican feel & moderate prices. GF, vegetarian, and vegan friendly. Super clean environment & the cook was really kind/helpful. We will come back. :)

This is a place for WEDOS..... if you know better mover around. Only WEDOS don't cook your tortillas.... Not worth the price per taco.. Just go to a taqureria... Bland , no spices, no salsa you know WEDO shit.

The tacos are great. They have great ingredients and good flavors. I love that I can create my own taco if I don't like the options they have. Great place for picky eaters. Also if you want to split a meal, the nachos there have plenty to share for two.

The place is always fun. Simple to order, enough option to make it interesting... Tasty food and a very good margaritas!!!

The tacos are fuxking awesome! I just wish you would pack crunchy and flour shells separately on the to go orders! The crunchy turns into a fuxking soggy.

The phone did not eat first for this post ladies and gentlemen. Food was done quick, and customer service was exceptional. Although I think the $ on the business page on yelp should be changed to a $$ or maybe even a $$$ because 4 tacos cost me $18. Granted that two tacos were tri tip steak but the other two were just plain beef soft tacos. The make your own option is nice but expensive, next time I will definitely look at the menu more because my wallet took a hit. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Just what you would expect from a late night taco joint.

This is a small place, it can be loud or extremely quiet and there's no in between. The price is a little high but the tacos are great.

This was our first time at Tinga Tacos, and it was extremely disappointing. We ordered a variety of tacos so that we could really get a taste of everything - chicken, steak, pork, and tofu. The tacos were very small with not much meat inside. That aside, none of them had a flavor that kept us satisfied and wanting more. Even the corn tortillas had a dull taste. We did enjoy the crispy chips and their seasoning. However, the side of guacamole was not fresh and almost tasted like it was store bought, definitely not worth $5! There are better taco spots in Springfield so we won't be heading back to Tinga Tacos.

Such great tacos!! I went on a Thursday and their 2 most popular tacos were only a dollar each! Amazing flavors and great service. Will definitely be visiting again.

The tacos lacked seasoning and within a couple hours I felt sick. It has been 12 hours and I still feel sick. My friend who ate there also got sick. Nice staff, but can't forgive food poisoning

We had nachos and tacos at lunch the The beef nacho had white cheese sauce but it was very thick. The meat was just OK the guacamole was good and fresh tomatoes on top was a plus. It's a small place with not a lot of seats and kind of fast food ish If you're wanting to grab a quick bite without breaking the bank I would recommend this place. And they do serve beer

Tinga Tacos occupies a much-needed space in the downtown Springfield scene by offering a dash of gourmet enthusiasm to the cadre of late-night dining options. When the drunk munchies strike and you want something healthier than Sliders, this is a worthy alternative that's certainly better for you - and arguably better tasting. I sampled three different tacos on my visit, each with its own charms and drawbacks. First up was The Crusher, a basic beef and lettuce taco that was on sale for an absurdly cheap price. Then, there was the Steak Jam, which was delicious in spite of, rather than because of, the titular fig jam that was included. And, at last, the pièce de résistance, the Udder Delight, which was as close to taco Nirvana as this menu could get me. My memory's a little foggy thanks to events earlier in the evening, but I'm fairly certain my bill for all three slices of tortilla-wrapped goodness was under $15 and probably closer to $12 - which is a pretty good value compared to some of the other higher end taco restaurants that have been popping up around the country recently. That said, Tinga Tacos suffers from the same affliction that has burdened every other restaurant at this end of McDaniel: there is almost no seating. So, depending on the time of night (or day), be ready to wait or get your food to go. But, beyond that, there's a lot to love at this downtown paean to internet food memes.

This place was great! With better prices or larger portions this would easily be 5 stars. I had the Double Deuce, Crusher, Tinga Taco and Chips and Guacamole ($16.xx with tax for carry out and no drink). Tacos were small but very tasty. They also had a sweet vinegar hot sauce which was really good. Recommend you go there.

Out of town visitor, it was a great experience. It was not busy the night we were there. We had prompt and friendly service. The food was very good! We had nachos and the thicker chips were amazing. We also had a couple tacos which were both good. Nice, clean and friendly! Great food!

I rarely write reviews but this place is worth a review. Absolutely amazing tacos! Just the perfect amount of flavor and heat. Crispy taco shells seasoned to perfection and don't leave without a side of cheesy corn! And the staff gets Can't wait for my next visit!

I asked the "order-taker" to pick three tacos for me and he complied. He selected the Tinga Taco, their signature taco, the Double Deuce, and the Udder Delight. All three tacos were delicious with the Tinga Taco being my favorite. It was very fresh tasting and all ingredients were of the highest quality. I recommend Tinga Taco but be certain you are ready to spend the money necessary for a premium Taco experience. It was worth the price but the price point places this dining experience into the "very occasional treat" category.

I'll start with saying the prices are kinda hefty but the amount of food you get, along with the taste makes it worth it. Every time I go I am never disappointed. Only reason why I didn't get it five stars is because they seem to never have their lobby open and I have gone a couple times to them being closed during opening hours. Little confusing, but good food!

I love, love, love Tinga! Best tacos in town, original flavors, and the pickled carrots are amazing! I always get Tinga when I'm doing shows downtown and have recently started ordering through DoorDash. Today, when I ordered my delivery, I received a handwritten Thank You note! I thought that was the kindest thing and wanted everyone to know that Tinga's is not only great food but excellent service with employees who go out of their way to add a personal touch. Highly recommend!

Ok tacos. Unwelcoming workers, they seem annoyed by your presence. Female worker had a bad attitude and didn't want to assist me when I asked her to tell me what's on the corn jalapenos. Won't come back here.

Design of the place is great, service was great, and food was solid. Queso and chips was actually way better than I thought it would be. Only downside to places like this is you are paying almost $5 for a single taco. Obviously out or eat food is always more expensive, but considering you can make these at home extremely easy (and i do), for about 75 cents a taco or less, its one of those things people tight on money might stay away form. If not, go for it.

Tinga tacos is a wonderful place! It's a quaint place with some of the best tacos and margaritas on tap! The owner and her daughter are some of nicest people and they make you feel at home. I tried the crusher. I got one with chicken and one with beef. Both tacos were delicious. The margarita was so good and strong. Also they have a deal where you get three tacos and get a side for free. We also had their quest and chips. The chips are homemade and the yummy. The quest is soo good! I wish they had a location in Florida where I live.

After an event downtown, my lady friend and I decided to try this little place. Wow, I'm glad that we did! With our three tacos we got a free side, which saved us $4.50, which is a win in my book. The girl running the register was pleasant and engaging, and the food came out quickly! The queso was tasty and the chips were seasoned up in a really yummy way! Then the tacos themselves came out and it was love from first bite! Do yourself a favor and stop by this place next time that you're downtown!

The tacos were excellent as were the homemade chips. It's a nice, small location that was clean. The staff were friendly as well.

I really wanted to be in love with this place, because who doesn't love a good taco? Unfortunately, everything was just shy of being right for me personally. While the products seemed good, I just wasn't a fan of the flavor profiles here. Everything seemed too sweet, too liquidy (which didn't help with the soft tacos having only one tortilla), and just too complicated. Like the flavors were too muddled together for me to really taste any of the things I look for in a taco. I'm all for creativity but I felt like it compromised having a well rounded dish. Staff was friendly and the place was very clean. Well, that is until our food came and taco juices were all over the table! Late night hours are awesome. I'd recommend people to give it a try for themselves since the quality of the food was good but the flavors just aren't to my tastes.

I had the opportunity to try as a food truck. I was not starving but wanted to get something small. So I got the cheesy corn. It was $5.xx after tax. $5 on the menu. The menu that I saw online said $4.50. I literally received a 6-8 ounce portion cup with cheesy corn in it. It was like soup consistency too. It was good but for that much money, I expected more. The pictures that are posted appear to be larger portions so I am disappointed that this is what I was given as a food truck option. I have never been to the brick & mortar store but have no desire too. A friend of mine got chips n queso & a bowl of something. She said it was $18! For that much, I can go get a steak dinner at a sit down restaurant. I understand that everything is expensive and the prices of everything has gone up but when the other truck option was a bbq truck and I could have got two side items for $6 and both sides were portioned in a 12 ounce container, I will not be back.

Just tried this place for the first time and YUM! We had some tacos and the pig bowl and it was all delicious especially the pig bowl. We will definitely make this our taco joint.

This is our regular go to place for date night. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The food is always delicious and fresh. It's also very affordable for date night on a budget. The margaritas are also amazing.

Best chips & queso in town! The seasoning on these chips is the bees knees! I dream about this combination and it is worth testing the cheesy goodness. Always several tacos to try or even create your own. My two kids can be picky and the cook will make them things not on the menu (like a quick cheese quesadilla). Lots of flavor combinations in this little establishment. Take a friend or two and try a little bit of everything. ENJOY!

Best tacos and the queso is perfect! Not much seating so if dining in I suggest going at an off time or just pick up! But so worth it!

What a gem. The best tacos I've ever had. They have these homemade chips and they are to die for. Very decently prices. I love that they are open so late. The staff is super friendly.

Unfortunately, these weren't the tacos I was looking for. Run of the mill for a taco joint. This place seems like an after -drinking hangout. The Good Fresh veggie toppings Crispy, flour, and corn tortilla choices Guacamole Good tofu taco The Bad Over cooked meat Underflavored meat Small portioned tacos Overseasoned chips Overall, the concept of this restaurant is good, but their tacos need some refinement to reach further than just 'meh'. I don't see a reason to return.

I visited Tinga Tacos shortly after they opened, and I was in love! My husband and I traveled 4 hours back home to STL and were still talking about the tacos on the way home! We Loved them! Every trip we make to Spfld we will make sure we go to Tinga Tacos! The flavor was outstanding. The pairings of each taco we had was something I would have never personally put on my taco but I ended up loving it! We love Mexican food and love our tacos and this wasn't your ordinary taco, it was explosion after explosion of flavor bursting in my mouth! I was super impressed!! The place was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly! One of the owners is a manager there; Jessica, she was so kind and helpful and passionate about the awesome tacos! She had great recommendations and we were pleased with every one! Every time we go back we hope she is there to help make our experience! The only complaint we have is that there isn't a Tinga Tacos in STL!

Simple, pocket location downtown. Great later in the eve. Build your own or choose some of their offerings. I tried 3 different tacos (cheese the moment, double deuce, and another) and they were great.

One star not for the food--we didn't have any--but for an opportunity missed. We walked in at 2:03, glanced at the lunch special sign, which was still up, and then at the wall to make our selections. The young lady at the corner then snatched the sign away, saying "Sorry, it's after 2." Totally their prerogative to do that, it was 2:03 and the specials ended at 2. BUT it was a moment she could have used to be light-hearted and fun, offer the special to us as late-comers, and sell some tacos. No one was behind us. Barring gracious notes of Ozarkian friendliness, we left for some sliders a few doors down.
