Best Detroit Restaurants, Bars Near Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre and RiverWalk | Eater Detroit

"A concert venue hosting end-of-summer shows that draws crowds as the season winds down; it sits near the old Chene Park in downtown Detroit and is surrounded by lively restaurants, cafes and dessert houses. With Detroiters increasingly getting vaccinated, nearby eateries and bars are filling up, making it an easy spot to meet for pre-show drinks or a date-night meal before a performance." - Darralynn Hutson

Birthday favorite!!! Saw The incomprable Teedra Moses & The Love King Raheem Devaughn! They did not disappoint has a ball. The breeze was just right, no issues with fighting or disruptions. Folks of all nationalities and age group enjoying themselves. I love Detroit!! I gave 4 ⭐ because 2 things I did not appreciate was being placed in the wrong seat by an Usher and moved by another once the show started. Sadly, smoking is allowed and ppl smoked weed, cigarettes , cigars and vapes it was all toooo much 🤮 🚭 ppl who are sensitive to 🚬. They need a dedicated area or step outside. PLEASE!!!

Came to see Jagged Edge in 6/28. First time visiting the Amphitheater. Had a really good time and all the staff that I came in contact with was very nice and helpful.

We had the best of times! Kem and Chantae Moore put on a fantastic show. The crowd was fun and engaged. The sound was decent. Will go back.

My first visit to the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre was for last night’s Jamey Johnson show, with the talented Audrey Ray opening—and it couldn’t have been better. The stage sits right on the waterfront, so you get a stunning river backdrop while the music plays. Even with steady rain, the covered seating kept everyone dry, and there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the concert. Best of all, the acoustics were crystal-clear—every note rang out perfectly.

The theatre itself is nice. We had PItt Row 3 seats. Great seats. Small enough venue that every seat is good. $20 parking for a grassy area. The problem is for 2 drinks (a can of beer and a single vodka/soda water came to $26.00 plus tip!!! That is just wrong! The lines were ridiculous- so slow!!! If you paid by card they had you sign the receipt and they poured your beer into a cup. One person doing all of this. What is the point of pouring the beer into a cup? If you are paying by card you should have the "tap" option or a quicker method. All that slowness backs up the whole line. They wouldn't let you stand near the bathrooms or in any area to socialize for a few- they made you keep moving so basically you have to go straight to your seat. (Unlike other venues where you can hang and mingle for a few). Pic is from the Pitt row 3 great seats

🌟 A beautiful and unforgettable venue! I celebrated my son’s graduation at Chene Park back in 2018, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. I had been there several times before and was never disappointed, but that day stood out. Watching my son walk across the stage in such a scenic, well-organized, and clean setting brought so much joy. The view of the water, the sound quality, and the overall energy of the venue made it a perfect place for such a milestone. Even when there’s no special occasion, Chene Park is still a great spot for a relaxing stroll, good music, and peaceful vibes. Highly recommend for events or everyday visits! 🎶🌅🎓

Involved a little bit of walking. Strict no food or drinks policy kids welcome. Had quite a few staff who were helpful. Seats are really close to each other, offering a few floors to the amphitheater. Situated right on the water.

Yelp
This was formerly Chene Park and renamed The Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. We call it "The Aretha" for short. This is an excellent concert venue. I try to take in one or two concerts each season. They have various seating options. There are VIP tables directly in front of the stage, a two-tier amphitheater seating and lawn seats. For those boat lovers, they can even dock on the Detroit River to enjoy the concert from the rear from the comfort of their boats. Many entertainers will go to the back of the stage and acknowledge the boaters. Tip of the day: I suggest you take seat cushions for comfort and ladies leave the large purses at home to not be turned away at the entry gate.

Yelp
One of my favorite venues in the city! I love being right on the river. The size of the venue is perfect. Not really a bad seat in the house. If you need help getting to your car after the show, they have golf carts running back & forth, which is really nice!

Yelp
The Aretha must be of the most underrated music venues in the country. Phenomenal acoustics combined with the only waterfront amphitheater in the US. makes for astounding views and sounds. The Aretha Franklin Amphitheater is an be of my favorite venues in the country. A shout out to the blue dress no too!

Yelp
The Amphitheater is sooooo nice! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they were out of the blue drink! Everyone knows one of the highlights of going to the amphitheater for concerts is the blue drink! I love that the theater is open and airy. It was raining slightly but we didn't get wet because of the cover over the theater. Love the summer concert series! Keep up the great work and thank you!
