The 33 Best Restaurants in Kansas City | Eater

"Every morning, workers in the urban core flock to Mildred’s, a family-owned cafe, for specialty coffee and the Standard Sandwich: bacon and swiss with pillowy eggs (steamed in a dedicated espresso machine) and a bright pepper-dijon mayo. If you can’t beat the morning rush, you can still score biscuits and gravy or a vegan breakfast hash all day long. Although Mildred’s has three locations, the Wyandotte Street cafe is cozy and close to attractions in the Crossroads Arts District. Know before you go: Ask to swap the pepper-dijon mayo for chipotle to give the Standard Sandwich a welcome kick." - Liz Cook

This was a fun find in more than one way. The urban rustic decor is my fav but so are cinnamon rolls. Always on the hunt for a good one. FOUND. I also had the chicken Chipotle wrap which was outstanding. But did I mention the cinnamon rolls??? My huge sweet tooth also wants to mention the choc chip cookies. The 2 of us will be back.

Google
Delicious, fresh food at a reasonable price. Their sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is one of the best I've had. Their granola bars are amazing as well. Updating to add that the chocolate chip banana bread is exquisite.

Google
The food is phenomenal. Super cute place, fast service. Friendly workers. Recommend the sausage egg sandwich and breakfast burrito. Great local spot for breakfast/lunch!

im not a coffee drinker but I came here for a quick breakfast amd they Mildred's did not disappoint. I had the breakfast wrap.which basically a breakfast burrito. and boy were they quick. they steamed their eggs so the texture is very light and fluffy. not sure if like the mayo sauce on it and might ask to hold it next go but it wasn't awful, just not sure it suits a brekkie wrap.

Lovely breakfast and the person at the counter was great with recommendations. Lots of seating and pretty fast service! There is an area with a fireplace in the back.

Google
Charming coffee shop with an extensive food menu. We only ordered a couple of mimosas since we'd already had breakfast elsewhere, but we wanted to experience this cozy place. There’s plenty of seating, and the kitchen is centrally located so you can watch your food being prepared. They also sell cute t-shirts, coffee beans, and other merchandise. The place was buzzing, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their coffee and food choices. Although there was a bit of a line when we arrived, we quickly ordered our drinks and found a cozy spot in the back room. The back room features an amazing fireplace and several quiet conversation nooks. We’d love to come back to try their food menu, but we're glad we stopped in for a quick drink!

Went in on a snowy Saturday morning about midday. It was packed. We were going to eat in, but it is open seating and order at the counter and there is no organization to how you get a table. You basically just have to hover around a section and hope that there is unspoken code between others waiting, but while we were in the line I saw someone come in and cut in front of others waiting for a table while their other party joined the line. This could be better managed to avoid confrontations. The line moved pretty quick, but the people in front of you block the menu and so by the time you can see the menu you are about to be order. We ordered 2 coffees, a half sandwich, turkey chipotle wrap and the biscuits and gravy. About $45 total. The waiting area for coffee and take out is in front of the trash / utensils and so we constantly felt like we were in the way, and it was about a 15-20 min wait for food with coffee being half that time. The food was really good. The half turkey sandwich was loaded with a good amount of meat and cheese and was really fresh. The biscuits came with 2 pieces of bacon (snacked in them before the pic :p) and the wrap was also good. Overall it was good, but the hassle of a table and the long wait is the reason for the score.

The gooey butter cake was worth every bite. Great coffee. Modern, clean space. Kind staff.

Yelp
Loved it here! Located in the Crossroads Art District. The inside is huge with lots of seating. There's a room in the back as well. The kitchen is open a with bar top seating that wraps around. They have great breakfast and lunch options. I got the Cobb salad (smaller size) and it was still plenty of food. I wish I could've tried more. The service was also nice and quick for how busy it was during lunch rush.

Yelp
Crossroads. Coffee. Vibe. Mildred's has the vibe locked down, the coffee & coffee beverage options are outstanding, and hey, this Mildred's anchors that west Crossroads. For my money, it's hands-down the first option for me when I want a place to enjoy or work while enjoying my coffee. Parking stinks, but so what? Crossroads isn't the suburbs, so it's not like you have tons of space. If you can park on one of the side streets, then great; if you have to walk a bit, then that is normal. It certainly isn't Mildred's fault that they have a great location that is more attuned to foot or bicycle traffic. Once you're there, then enjoy the spacious interior. There is a large U-shaped "bar" area, with single seats and power adapters nearby, handy for that mobile work experience when your device batteries can't hang. If there is any knock to the space, it is that the line, near the door mind you, can get somewhat crowded while ordering, and then that crowd shifts slightly to the left for people waiting for their orders. Mildred is probably doing the best they can given the space, but it does get very bunchy. If you're there for breakfast, then I highly recommend the Standard Sandwich. Eggs & bacon atop your choice of bread (go for brioche, even if it's extra) with Swiss & a dijonnaise. It pairs splendidly with a cup of their house roast blend and the sammich has a short life span. My wife and I are also suckers for the gooey butter cake, and it does not disappoint. It's like a version of that simple dessert that maybe one of the ladies at church made when you were a kid, maybe during a potluck, and you've been looking to match it ever since. It is delightful! The merch matches the vibe and the employees are friendly and focused. There are a couple other locations around town, but when you're in the Crossroads for coffee, this is the place to be. The price point is very fair for the area and the value is spot on. It might get a touch loud if the space is crowded, but there are options to take it as you go or to just stay to enjoy, so do just that!

Yelp
I love Mildred's! I've been coming here for years as it's a popular lunch spot for my teams at work. It's also the cutest place to grab coffee and work remotely. I've loved it so much I've started bringing family on the weekends! What I appreciate most is that they cater to different dietary restrictions. I typically get the vegan breakfast wrap which has scrambled tofu, potatoes, and plant based chorizo with an "aioli". It is so good! I always think I'll only eat half but wind up eating the whole thing. We took family this weekend and they tried the chipotle breakfast burrito and the standard sandwich and could not stop talking about how good it was! It is usually pretty busy at each location I've been too, but service is usually pretty quick. The restaurant space in the Crossroads is open with lots of seating options and decorated super cute. They even have a back patio area with a fireplace that looks super cozy! Definitely a spot I recommend!

Yelp
A nice spot to grab a sandwich. I stopped in on a busy Sunday morning. The staff was friendly as they worked quickly taking care of the many customers. I ordered the Guacamole Chicken Club, and it was tasty! I enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Mildred's in Midtown KC is a fast casual sandwich spot with an open kitchen layout that will quickly find a special place in your heart. The restaurant is a lively place to be at and offers outdoor seating, spots near the open kitchen, and a separate indoor dining area to choose from. As soon as you enter through the main door, you'll see outdoor or window side seating areas, with the menu displayed and an ordering kiosk on the left. When I walked in, the line was short, moved quickly, and the staff was friendly and easy to talk to and the service was fairly quick. The restaurant offers our breakfast brunch and lunch menu along with a bunch of vegan and gluten-free food options and all the food is decently priced. If you compare it with the local breakfast shops, Mildred definitely stand outs to be more affordable. The portion size is not too big so I feel One could still be hungry even after having one sandwich without a drink. We ordered the Guacamole Chicken Club and the Ham and Swiss sandwich. Both sandwiches were tasty, but the clear winner was the Ham and Swiss. It had a perfectly balanced flavor from savory and meaty to hints of garlic. The generous portion of ham paired well with the toasted bun, making it a real treat. While placing my order, I asked the staff to make sure the chicken in the guacamole chicken club was juicy, since grilled chicken can often turn out dry. She mentioned it was pre-prepared but assured me she'd make sure it came out juicy. The Guacamole Chicken Club was good too, though the guacamole was under seasoned or not seasoned at all. It tasted like plain mashed avocado, which was fresh and enjoyable but it overpowered the rest of the sandwich!! The chicken itself was juicy and well prepared. Overall, the sandwiches were of amazing quality and flavor. I also grabbed a drip coffee, which cost around 4 dollars for a 16-ounce cup and it was refreshing what havewith the sandwiches. The sandwiches came with a bag of Boulder Chips, cooked in avocado oil, and I thought they paired well with the light, fresh vibe of the sandwiches. We chose to sit near the open kitchen area. Personally, I found it a bit loud because of the foot traffic, but it still felt warm and welcoming to be there. The restaurant has a decent sized menu, offering everything from breakfast options to lunch items. The sandwiches lean more toward lunch time food, but we had them for breakfast and had no regrets. This specific location has live music on first Fridays as well. I also loved the breakfast inspired cute deli paper designs and my favorite one was the dancing bacon. Overall, I think you'd enjoy this vibrant sandwich spot. If you're hoping for a quiet breakfast, it's best to arrive right when they open or during late lunch hours. I would happily rate the experience 5/5.

Yelp
Great and cute sandwich shop in the art district with a lively atmosphere and attentive staff. Ordered some quick takeout to try their sandwiches and pastries. Food was pretty great and I wish I had found this place earlier!
google avatar

Yelp
I like the open space. I also really like how the restaurant fills itself with natural light despite being a morning-inspired business in a bit of a cavernous building on the west side of the block. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I like ordering a bagel or a breakfast sandwich, grabbing a chair and taking 30-45 minutes to relax. Lunch options are available, however I haven't tried them yet. The staff is polite and happy to answer any questions.

Yelp
I've really been looking forward to trying Mildred's out and today was the day. Absolutely loved the visit today! Place was packed on a Thursday at 9:30 am. Pastries were fully stocked and food came out faster than I could find a table! I got the breakfast hash, cinnamon roll and a chai latte and didn't go wrong with any of my choices. Fun atmosphere and loved the fast paced volume of guests. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Perfect place in Crossroads KC for a quick breakfast, lunch, pastry or coffee! Mildred's features a cute, open area with indoor and outdoor options, bar seating and plenty of tables. Walls are decorated with large murals, and the decor is modern and clean with a hipster vibe. We stopped by for brunch and ordered the vegan breakfast hash, guacamole chicken club, cold brew, and a brioche cinnamon bun. The vegan breakfast hash was perfect, a bed of arugula with scrambled tofu, soy chorizo and a delicious sauce to bring it all together. The brioche cinnamon bun was also a standout, perfectly flaky with a strong cinnamon flavor. The service at Mildred's is extremely friendly and quick, despite being relatively crowded.

Yelp
I have been to this Mildred's location several times and love it. We stopped in on a busy Sunday morning and the line was already out the front door. The line moved quickly though, and we did not have a long wait. We shared The Standard sandwich on ciabatta (was bummed that they did not have the jalapeño bun as that is great!) and we shared a cinnamon roll. Everything was really good and I know that we will return!
google avatar

Yelp
A quick breakfast/ brunch spot. The vibe here seems to cater to younger people. The music is loud and the place is regularly packed. It's a fun spot to grab a quick bite if you can nab a good seat. The food hits the spot but is nothing to write home about. They've got some cool brunch drinks like a tank 7 mimosa and some good coffee and espresso drinks. I definitely recommend this place if you want a quick but solid breakfast near P&L or the Crossroads.
google avatar

Yelp
Always caramel but this time with snickerdoodle... 20oz iced latte (light ice) prepared by a very kind Barista, I can't recall proper spelling of her name. The combo was quite delicious. She did a great job. This 20oz had 2 shots of espresso which is not what I'm used to but it was just fine. The chocolate chip banana bread is delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Mildred's made a great seasonal menu coffee with their cherry blossom latte. Vibes in the shop were great with plenty of seating and fast public WiFi. Did not order food from my most recent visit but the vegan breakfast options sound yummy. Coffee came out quick and hot, ready to come back again and pair with with the breakfast menu Vegan friendly

Yelp
I finally got to check out this spot last Sunday (a bit late in posting, but here it is!). A friend from the KC metro recommended it to me. The ambiance is really inviting, with plenty of seating for everything from intimate meals for two to larger gatherings of five or more. Their breakfast menu has some great options. After a 5K run that morning, I ordered the vegetarian sandwich, and it exceeded my expectations. The steamed eggs with pepper dijon mayo on toasted wheat bread were delicious. If you like a little spice, you can add sriracha for an extra kick, which I definitely did! I can't wait to return and try their coffee and pastries soon! Shoutout to the barista (s) at Mildred!
google avatar

Sydney C.

Yelp
Best coffee and best sandwiches (both breakfast and lunch)!!! I love the standard sandwich on a brioche bun. Downtown location has very minimal seating so I've preferred the crossroads location so far but truly can't go wrong with Mildred's.
google avatar

Erik O.

Yelp
This place is always busy and for good reason - Coffee is a 5/5 7 days of the week! Only bumped Mildred's to a 4 for the food, still great, but a little room for improvement. If you aren't in a rush pull up chair at the big bar top and watch the team in action.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
Came here and the man in front of me recommended the chipotle breakfast wrap which was amazing. Doesn't look very big but is quite filling. Eggs looked like they were made with a milk frother which is probably what made them so fluffy and the chipotle sauce was more savory than spicy. Drinks are called out to you and your food is brought to you. All the staff seemed pretty nice. Ambiance is more of an industrial style. Seating is self and they have counter space that looks into their open kitchen. Overall, not bad. I would come again.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
The inside is so cute, you order at the counter & they bring your food. I went on a Friday around brunch time (11-1) & it was busy! We found a spot for 2, but larger groups might struggle. I got the chipotle breakfast burrito, it was so good. I definitely want to try a pastry next time, they looked delicious!
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
I have always had an amazing experience at Mildred's. The breakfast? Phenomenal. The lunch? Incredible. The staff? Wonderful. The vibes? Unbeatable. This is by far one of the best places in KC.
google avatar

Mag T.

Yelp
Beautiful place for coffee!! Great coffee and huge seating area along with a fireplace. Awesome vibes, this place was bustling on a Wednesday morning.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Decent spot for coffee, breakfast and baked goods. Busy place and a bit loud, but welcoming. Has a back room with a firepit. The hash was decent but I think I'll try something different next time (probably one of the bfast sandwiches). Butter cake was okay, not the best. Coffee was on the sweeter side even with ordering half sweet, so keep that in mind when ordering. Would try again if meeting friends there.
google avatar

Jenni S.

Yelp
Stopped in for brunch this morning with a couple of friends. I've been wanting to try Mildred's for a long time and glad I finally did. I got the chai cider, iced, which was delicious. It tasted like a perfectly spiced cider. I also got the biscuits & gravy and they are some of the best I've had. It's a pretty chill vibe in here as well. All of the staff we interacted with was friendly. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
Overpriced everything. Good god, two wraps and a coffee are $50. Foods not worth it. Service is nice, but come on.
google avatar

Allie C.

Yelp
Another cute as heck brunch spot / coffee shop checked off my list! KC does this extremely well, and Mildred's is no exception. The space is open and welcoming, and I love the fireplace room for warming up with a bakery treat! The gooey butter cake was EVERYTHING - sweet and buttery with a great texture. Everyone working there was kind and attentive, and service was generally speedy. I'm VERY appreciative of the vegan/vegetarian options Mildred's has, but a little bummed that everything vegan in KC has to also be spicy. I know I'm just a baby but there are other ways to add depth of flavor to veggie dishes!!! The spiciness of the vegan chorizo & tofu egg wrap overwhelmed any flavor I would have gotten from my seasonal coffee. It's just too much for breakfast IMO. Other than that, it was yummy, and my partner enjoyed his meat-ful breakfast wrap as well. I'll have to come back and try some of their other breakfast options again to see if there's something that tickles my extra sensitive taste buds!
google avatar

Tracy H.

Yelp
Maybe it was just a bad day but the service was dreadful. They gave the vibe they just didn't care. And I ordered a tuna salad sandwich and it was the worst I've ever had.

Asya G.

Yelp
All I'm going to say is: ALWAYS order ahead and ALWAYS check what they gave you before leaving. It is a common occurrence to either wait an ungodly amount of time for one item or they give you vegan items when that is not what you ordweed.
google avatar

Grace T.

Yelp
On food alone, Mildred's is probably a 3.5-4-star rating. The iced latte I ordered actually had a smooth, robust, medium-roast espresso flavor, comparable to the quality of coffee you'd get at the Roasterie. The biscuits and gravy dish was flavorful, but I felt it was a bit overpriced. The gravy was also a bit too thick (too much roux or left heated for too long). I think what brings Mildred's down in rating is the location, the interior, and the wait. Mildred's only has street parking. At 8:10AM on a Thursday, I was able to find a spot after 5 minutes of looking. However, it was further away from the entrance than I'd hoped. As someone else mentioned, the noise level inside is quite high. I would not recommend eating/drinking inside if you're someone that's sensitive to sounds or is overstimulated easily. There is an area past a set of double doors that is a bit quieter, but I found it to be too warm in that area. Lastly, this place is NOT for someone in a hurry. It took around 25-30 minutes to receive my order. Overall, I don't see myself going out of my way to visit Mildred's. I think there are other breakfast cafes that scratch the itch without the hassle or wait.
google avatar

Ian E.

Yelp
Mildred is a go to breakfast option for my family whether we dine in or order it to go. Lately we've mostly eating at the restaurant. A big reason we eat there is they've added additional seating so there's less jockeying for a seat. The food is so good. Here's what I order most often: chipotle breakfast wrap, biscuits, and gravy, cinnamon roll, breakfast potatoes, and steamed eggs. I also enjoyed the coffee, and I like my coffee black, iced or hot. It does get super busy on the weekends, but the additional seating makes it easier to eat there. But from what I've seen, they get a high volume of orders to go. to go orders are always fulfilled in a timely manner by the great staff.
google avatar

Lynn S.

Yelp
We arrived on Tuesday morning around 10 am and the place is steady. Walk up ordering, many choices so take the time to look. Breakfast served all day was the highlight. I ordered their classic sandwich with wheat bread, it contains steamed eggs, bacon, cheese, just delicious. The salad is beautiful with Parmesan cheese, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes.this is a must stop if you are visiting the area!
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
Everything I've gotten here had been delighted! The breakfast burrito is my go-to. I've started ordering it without the wrap and with the sauce on the side because they overdo it every time. It's a spicy creamy sauce that's so much tastier in a lesser amount.
google avatar

Jenn C.

Yelp
Easily one of the best iced dirty chais with oat that I have had. Their food was on the more $$ side and portions were smaller than expected; however, the flavors were incredible. I would highly recommend their avo toast because their balsamic glaze was so good and only wish the toast they put it on was a little more thick. The vegan hash was okay, but with a little hot sauce so much better. It is loud in the main area so go past the double doors and it is significantly more quiet there.
google avatar

Ralphie S.

Yelp
It's hard to believe that this weekend was my first trip to this Mildred's location. I have tried before, but the parking situation in this part of the Crossroads usually kept me driving around until I gave up and settled for other coffee joints a few blocks south or east. Next time, I'll try a bit harder or walk a couple of blocks because I absolutely fell in love with the vibe of this place. Much more than just a coffee shop, the breakfast, brunch and lunch menus looked awesome. Seeing an 8 lb. tray of bacon setting under the heating lamps sealed the deal for a return trip for food. I was going to take my dirty Chai latte and keep moving up the street to get some XMas shopping done, but I decided to sit at the bar and just soak up a Sunday afternoon people watching and admiring the food coming out of the kitchen. Five stars for everything that I would want in an urban diner. See ya soon Mildred.
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
I live in crossroads and always wanted to try this place! Was able to walk over but seems that there's a lot of street parking. We went on a Sunday around noon and there was a minimal line and we were able to order right away. I got the standard breakfast sandwich and my friend got the vegetarian one. They both hit the spot and were delicious. Just wish they were a bit large in portion size. The design inside is really fun, and has a mix of sit down seating and bar seating. I would definitely love to come back
google avatar

Yelp
Our daughter had told us about Mildred's. It's a trendy breakfast/lunch cafe. Cool atmosphere. I ordered the guacamole chicken club and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was really good. I didn't care for the chicken club. I didn't look at the menu closely and missed that they used chicken thigh on the sandwich. Personal preference. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. They got the ordered mixed up but fixed it quickly with no issue. I ended up eating half of the biscuits and gravy since I liked it better than my sandwich. The biscuits and gravy were tasty. Mildred's served the prettiest bacon. It was like picture perfect. Perfectly crispy and tasty. The service was great. No issues with the order mixup. If you're in the area, check them out.
google avatar

Jimmy F.

Yelp
Was hoping to have a good brunch with friends, but sadly this is not a brunch place. It's mainly a chaotic coffee shop that serves room temp tap water with no ice. We all decided not to drink alcohol here because we would have to wait in the long slow line to order more drinks. Sadly the food is not any better. I ordered the breakfast hash and got a arugula salad with maybe 10 pieces of stale potatoes. Friends got some soup that they could not finish. Best part of our meal was when we left.

Yelp
I Have Been Looking To Visit Mildred's For Months And So Happy I Stopped In! The Photo Ops Were SO Cute And Created A Casual And Cute Vibe. I Visited Mildred's with My Best Friend After Her Long Morning Of Travel. Mildred's Vibe Is Inviting And The Servers Were Kind And Were So Helpful With Questions! We Ordered The Brisket Sloppy Joe And Chipotle Breakfast Wrap Along With A Snickerdoodle Latte. The Sloppy Joe Was A Special And It Was Decent. Considering KC Is The BBQ City I Was Expecting A Little More But It Is A Breakfast Spot So It Was Fine! The Burrito Though Was TOP TIER! It Was Flavorful, HOT, And The Textures Were Spot On!
google avatar

Imani R.

Yelp
Omg, this spot wasted no time with the cute decor! Immediately, as soon as you walk into the building, there are so many photo ops. There's a comfortable, friendly open vibe when you walk in, and the staff is super joyful and friendly. My best friend and I came for a casual lunch and we got the chipotle breakfast burrito as well as the brisket sloppy Joe. The burrito was a flavor bomb.. I can definitely see why it's a fan favorite, I mean I could still taste how particularly seasoned the potatoes were and how fluffy the eggs were. The brisket sloppy Joe was decent, but the flavor kind of got repetitive. My bestfriend bought a coffee, and she said it also got consistent with the flavor. Other than that, the vibes were great for students or someone who maybe works for home.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
I decided to give Mildred's a try after friends raved to me about the breakfast sandwiches here! Service was good and food came out quickly. You order at the counter and then find a seat to wait for your meal. I ordered the standard breakfast sandwich on sourdough after a lengthy internal debate (several other menu items sounded delicious and require a second trip). I was happy with my choice - the sandwich came stuffed with a generous amount of fluffy steamed egg and bacon. While good, it was the toasted sourdough and aioli that made it for me and provided great flavor. However, it felt a little steep at nearly $9 for a pretty simple sandwich. There was lots of activity here when I visited on a Saturday morning. It was very crowded, loud, and people were ruthless when it came to snagging seating - so take this into consideration when visiting on a weekend. I'd like to come back during the week and experience it again when it's a little less chaotic.
google avatar

Amri L.

Yelp
The service is friendly and accommodating ! Although it was packed they managed to get my food out hot and quickly. I'm not a vegetarian but i love mushrooms, so i tried this panini . A cashier suggested to add the chipotle sauce on it and it did not disappoint! The lemonade was not good, I'm not a huge fan of bitter/sour lemonade. The outdoor seating was perfect for the beautiful weather!

Yelp
We visited Mildred's after getting a recommendation from our hotel's valet attendant. Mildred's is a hip place not too far from Union Station. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items. It's kind of a Ma and Pa version of Panera. I had the Chile basil breakfast sandwich and had a bite of my husband's side order of potatoes. The potatoes were very good. The sandwich wasn't bad but it was nothing that made me think I need to come back. Mildred's is popular. By the time we finished eating the line to order had wrapped around and was out into their vestibule. If you are looking for a quick, healthy breakfast Mildred's is a good option.

Yelp
Mildred's #potatohash is a pleasant surprise with a mix of fresh arugula, bacon bits, potato , and special sauce. Great atmosphere to match their reasonable prices makes @mildreds a great place to eat, socialize, and most of all give yourself a break from #hustleandbustle.

Yelp
Nice decor and vibe, warm on a cold winter morning. The standard breakfast sandwhich on brioche (you have a choice of breads) was good, especially the mayo/mustard sauce. Coffee was good and hot!

Yelp
It was pretty busy, and a bit chaotic, but there were some really fun pastry and drink options that we grabbed on our way out of town.

Yelp
Mildred's is a phenomenal spot work work remote, have a quick business sync, sip on coffee with friends, or to simply eat one of their amazing lunch/breakfast options! The breakfast burrito is a fan favorite. The space is very clean & has a modern look. Service is always friendly and quick (even if the line looks busy). Did you know you could even order a spiked coffee along with other adult brunch beverages?? Might be my favorite coffee shop in KC!

Yelp
I love Mildred's. They are my go to breakfast sandwich place. The classic sandwich is unmatched. I'm not sure how they make their steamed egg but it's perfection every time. They staff is always pleasant and helps me open my kombucha . I typically order online and swoop in to pick it up. There's construction going on down there so be aware of that. They like to take up some of the parking.

Yelp
I've heard about Mildred's by word of mouth a lot lately, so I had to venture and go try! My friend and I went at 11:30--the perfect time for breakfast or lunch, which Mildred's happily delivers on (they serve breakfast all day). My friend got the Cubano with a side salad, and I got the notorious chipotle breakfast burrito, which lived up to the hype, and a breakfast michelada--I mean, why not! I am the sort that always wants salsa or some hot sauce with my breakfast burrito, but otherwise, it was delish, and the michi was great. There was nothing left on mine or my friend's plates at the end, which tells you something. The inside area is super cute with a few tables, some for small groups and others for larger groups/multi group sitting. There is also a bar seating area, which was filled with people working on their computers. There is also an outdoor seating area with a fire pit--it is open air, so depending on the weather outside, it could be a treat to sit out there! Mildred's is in a fun area of the Crossroads, not far from Kauffman Performing Arts Center, and the day we visited, I had to park pretty close to the Arts District Garage, so parking can take a few minutes to find depending on when you go! Thanks for a great experience, Mildred's! I'll definitely be back to try more of those breakfast/brunch alcoholic beverages!

Yelp
Second time back to Mildred's and definitely a great little spot to visit in KC! Super packed and all for a good reason! The chipotle egg wrap was delicious and a good mix of flavor with the spices and chipotle aioli inside. Honestly, I crave it so often and highly recommend. Next is the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. Definitely can not go wrong with it, but did not blow my socks off. It is just a good classic sandwich and would not be a wrong choice in the slightest.

Yelp
I've been here three or four times this is the first time I've tried anything other than the breakfast burrito the sausage and gravy biscuits and gravy is good but the eggs really taking over the top the issue is since they're steamed eggs they just put the cheese on the top and it doesn't actually melt so you have to put it in the microwave (provided by the restaurant) and then Stir It Up and then add it to the meal it adds some cumbersome steps to it the chocolate chip cookie is no Bueno very hard cookie even after being warmed up the banana bread is phenomenal as always
