The 15 Best Date Night Restaurants In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"It’s true what they say: couples that grill together stay together. At this cozy yakiniku spot in Torrance, each pair of countertop seats shares a smokeless tabletop grill where you’ll marvel at a professional butcher from Osaka carving hunks of meat. Choose between the $50 or $70 tasting menu that features several rounds of well-marbled beef, with each cut dissolving in your mouth faster than the last. Paired with a few shochu highballs, dinner here is a fun, hands-on Japanese barbecue experience for two. Just don’t get caught gazing into each other’s eyes too long—the delicate slices cook faster than you’d think." - sylvio martins, brant cox, cathy park

The 25 Best Restaurants In LA's South Bay - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Lots of restaurants let you grill your own meat, but only Wagyu Butcher seats you in front of a master butcher from Osaka carving hunks of well-marbled Japanese beef like a sculptor with clay. This low-key Torrance yakiniku spot has two omakase options at $50 and $70–both excellent deals–though the addition of freshly chopped beef tartare and Japanese A5 wagyu make the more expensive tier an easy yes. Each unique cut dissolves in your mouth faster than the last, which means your teeth are basically along for the ride. The minimal counter space only has about 20 seats (and 10 grills), so come with a date and take turns flipping pieces of wagyu until they’re charred to your liking. Just don’t take your eyes off the heat too long—the delicate slices cook faster than you think." - garrett snyder, sylvio martins, cathy park

Wagyu Butcher turns yakiniku into a show, starring premium beef - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"LA has plenty of spots where you can grill your own meat, but none quite like Wagyu Butcher. Here you’ll get a front-row seat to a master butcher from Osaka, who carves hunks of well-marbled beef with the precision of a sculptor, then hands you slices of meat that you’re expected to grill like you know what you’re doing. Located in a Torrance strip mall, this lowkey spot has just 20 seats and 10 tabletop grills on a counter that wraps around the open kitchen, so bring a friend or date for a fun night of searing wagyu together and clinking shochu highballs or giant mugs of Sapporo. The state-of-the-art grills are equipped with fans that suck the smoke downward so your clothes won’t smell like campfire after, and you’re handed a big pair of metal tongs to cook each item to taste. There are two omakase options at $50 and $70 available–both excellent deals–though the addition of freshly chopped beef tartare and Japanese A5 wagyu make the more expensive tier an easy yes. photo credit: Jessie Clapp photo credit: Jessie Clapp photo credit: Jessie Clapp photo credit: Jessie Clapp photo credit: Jessie Clapp Pause Unmute The tasting menus kick off with snappy pickled vegetables, salad, and seasonal kimchi before launching into five or seven rounds of beef, then finishing off with a comforting rice or soup dish like an oxtail curry rice bowl or ochazuke. The cuts vary nightly and come from all parts of the cow, so let the staff know if you’re not into offal like liver or intestine and they’ll swap in something else. We do wish some leaner cuts were more seasoned, but overall, each grilled piece dissolves in your mouth faster than the last, which means your teeth are basically along for the ride. The delicate slices cook faster than you think though, so don’t get too caught up in conversation and forget to flip. Food Rundown Today’s Kimchee The ideal tangy accompaniment to all the rich grilled beef you’ve eating, and we love that Wagyu Butcher makes their kimchi with unique vegetables like okra and mountain yam. It’s hard to ration the single serving for the full meat parade, but you can always order another side a la carte for a few bucks. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Beef Tongue We appreciate a nice slab of tongue, and while the thick-cut slices here are quite tender, they're also one of the more forgettable cuts. Each order is served simply with just a wedge of lemon for seasoning, but we wish it came with a sprinkle of salt, too. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Outside Skirt Steak We usually think of skirt steak as a tougher, chewier cut, so it’s a nice surprise that this well-marbled one breaks down effortlessly even when cooked medium-rare. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Kalbi Short Rib Kalbi is a standby at pretty much any restaurant where you’re grilling meat, but this version stands out for flavor and beefiness. The light marination brings out the meat’s richness, and the sweet-savory dipping sauce is great, too. A5 Hida Wagyu The final course of the omakase is a couple of slices of well-marbled wagyu from Japan dusted with salt and pepper, and it’s obvious why it's the finale (translation: the beef practically dissolves on contact with your tongue). photo credit: Jessie Clapp Beef Tendon Ponzu Wagyu Butcher requires ordering one of their omakase menus, but you can also supplement from their a la carte menu, which we highly recommend if you have the stomach space. Most items cost between $5-7, including unique cuts like heart or tail, plus appetizers like braised tripe stew or (our favorite) snappy bits of braised beef tendon in citrusy ponzu. Butcher’s Curry Rice After the last cut of beef lands you might not think you need anything else in the world, but then this dish arrives to warm your soul: a bowl of rice topped with a rich, tomato-y oxtail curry, plus a hot cup of bone broth to sip on the side. photo credit: Jessie Clapp" - Cathy Park

Guided by the talent of Kenji Nakamura (中村健二) and Masahiro Fujita (藤田雅弘), both veterans from Tokyo’s legendary yakiniku houses and now part of the ever-growing Hana Dining Group, this new restaurant promises a truly distinct Japanese dining adventure. Overseeing the kitchen is Chef Haruki Sato (佐藤春樹), a master butcher and grill chef who runs his own izakaya and yakiniku bistro near Kyoto. About the Chef: Born and raised in Ibaraki, Haruki Sato (佐藤春樹) spent his childhood learning home-cooking from his mother, a former kaiseki chef. Eager to master the art of grilling, he enrolled at the Hattori Nutrition College (服部栄養専門学校) in Tokyo and simultaneously trained at a bustling robata grill. Sato’s hands-on approach led him to work alongside famed pitmasters throughout Osaka before launching his own ventures. His passion lies in combining traditional butchery with inventive plating and attentive guest service. A memorable twist on classic yakiniku and premium omakase—expect to walk out happy, full, and already plotting your next visit. House Starters (Complimentary) Today’s Pickled Daikon Charred Edamame Fresh Greens with Shoyu Citrus Dressing Seasonal Dashi-Based Miso Soup Food 4/5 — Standouts from Today’s Tasting Shio — Australian Wagyu Skirt Steak, Broiled Short Ribs Garlic Butter Mushroom Rice—crazy umami, wished for a bigger portion A5 Wagyu Nigiri—touch of smoked binchotan, elevates the melt-in-your-mouth texture Sukiyaki-Style A5 Tenderloin—unreal delicate cream sauce, next-level comfort Service 4/5 The team is warm and genuinely welcoming; Chef Sato himself sets the tone with friendly waves from the grill. Only hiccup was needing to flag staff for tea refills, but otherwise every interaction felt thoughtful and prompt. Parking 4/5 Convenient lot within a retail plaza, plenty of spots open during dinner. No stress about finding space.

We came here for our anniversary dinner and what an amazing dinner it was. From start to finish, everything was great. Definitely worth it, and make reservations. Parking is easy in the lot. We made reservations for 7:30pm and the place is full. It’s small and cozy as part of the experience and only seats about 20-24 people per timeslot. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t feel cramped or anything in your seat and you get an up close and personal experience. I opted for the $70 omakase plus $10 Wagyu sushi upgrade (do it!) plus the $30 sake pairing, choosing the beef tongue and inside skirt options. Wife chose the $70 with Wagyu strip and curry. It allowed us to try almost everything. The sake pairing was great to try 5 different types of sake. Pours were generous and flavors of each sake come through from the fruity to dry ones. You get a nice spread. We got a nice variety of appetizers from tofu, Kimchi spread (favorite was the cabbage), veggie spread (favorite was zucchini) and the Wagyu sashimi. The soup wasn’t just the simple miso soup, it was rich bone broth soup. Meats were an excellent variety and well proportioned. All the different sections of the meats, they’ll be accompanied by a dipping sauce of some sort. They do season and sauce some of the meats as well, though I’d recommend asking for less salt/sauce in the preparation. They’re well accommodating to it. As they tell you, cook each meat one at a time to your liking and take your time to enjoy the meals. Personal favorites, they’ll beef tongue and a5. I love that sukiyaki butter that came with the A5 and each tongue piece was uniquely different. Least, the sweet soy courses. While delicious, I felt like too much sauce overpowered the taste of the meat. I highly recommend the Wagyu sushi upgrade, it was so worth it! The curry was a bit forgettable, very strong tomato taste, almost reminded me of a chili rather than curry. Loved the pudding for dessert. Not too sweet and perfect finish to the meal. At the end you can always order more of anything a la carte, but the omakase was plenty for us. I enjoyed the experience so much, I would come not just for special occasions. Anytime you want to treat yourself, this place is worth a visit!

Wagyu Butcher Japanese BBQ is a must-try if you love A5 Wagyu or are just craving some amazing beef. You’ll have a great experience from start to finish. The staff there are super friendly and knowledgeable — they give great recommendations and really want you to enjoy your meal. It’s more like a wagyu tasting experience. All the beef is super fresh, and they even slice it right in front of you. Each cut comes with a recommended sauce pairing that brings out the best flavors of the meat. Feel free to ask the staff to help grill the A5 Wagyu for you — they know exactly how to cook it to the perfect timing so you get the best texture and flavor. I highly recommend going with the Butcher’s Omakase and adding the A5 Wagyu Sushi for an extra $10. It’s 100% worth it! You’ll get plenty of food and feel really satisfied after the meal. Just a heads up: This place isn’t cheap and expect to spend around $100+ per person. Honestly, it’s worth every penny for the quality and the overall experience. Quick tips: Strongly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They do take walk-ins, but seating isn’t guaranteed and the wait can be long. Don’t skip the A5 Wagyu Sushi upgrade — it’s amazing and you’ll definitely thank me later!

WOW WEE WOW WOW!!! Wagyu Butcher What a great birthday dinner at Wagyu Butcher in Torrance! With sushi bar seating and an elevated Japanese BBQ experience, everything—from the attentive service to the premium cuts of beef—was exceptional. Open since November, this spot offers generous sake pairings and heavenly meat, topped off by incredible Wagyu nigiri sushi. Highly recommended for a delightful two-hour experience. Winner, winner, Wagyu dinner!

Went for lunch, we were almost the only people there despite them being booked out a month for dinner. Absolutely delicious. Quality of the cuts is just out of this world. In a very unassuming strip mall. Good for 2 people, would not work well for any larger groups

What a neat experience in the south bay. We came across this restaurant thanks to Infatuation's 2025 list of best new restaurants to try. We made a very last minute call to the restaurant to see if any spots opened up, and we were very fortunate to nab two seats. Parking is a little tight in this small strip mall area but not too bad in the evening. Coming in, you're immediately greeted to a really neat setup - bar seating that surrounds an open kitchen with grills per every tea seats. Loved the modern decor with classic wooden Japanese items throughout the kitchen and fun, friendly chalkboards. We were seated and given a tour of the menu. There are two pretty competitive omakase style beef walkthroughs. We opted to go with the $50 option as we didn't want to go with the wagyu sushi (that and a couple items were the main difference between this and the $70 option). We also had the ability to order more specific cuts of meat or go straight to the a la carte option as well. The drink menu for non-alcohol items are a bit limited but for sake lovers, there are some great competitive options like a $30 5-sake cup flights. Going into the $50 omakase, the options for the most part are super solid. We really enjoyed the multiple sauces that came out with the meat. The beef tongue trio was also fantastic all-around. Meats were cut right in front of you as well as marinated/seasoned. The butcher's cut curry also is oddly fantastic. It's a clever way to close out the meal using parts of the ends of meat. The grill in front of you also uses side vents so makes it a much more enjoyable experience. I think the only bits of feedback we had (and something it seems like they are actively trying to address) is getting more helping hands. There was a bit of a chaotic energy as the tables were full and not enough hands on deck with things like front of house having to be done by the chef. I think the servers were still superstars amidst everything going on and super kind in keeping us updated as to the situation. They also do run out of some items of food so would advise to try to get an earlier time than later. Getting there after 8PM also means that you usually aren't able to go the omakase route as a heads-up. Can't wait to come back and see how they continue to improve and refine a great idea.

Yelp
A new favorite in the South Bay! Absolutely loved the experience. It's an open counter treatment, and the place was modern and exceedingly clean. They have a two-tier omakase menu (until 8pm, I believe). Basically, it's a parade of Wagyu ascending from lower cuts (like three cuts of tongue) up to thinly sliced, amazingly marbled, true A5 wagyu, mostly grilled on a Korean BBQ grill. But for the final Waygu cuts, they lightly seared delicate paper-thin sheets of A5 with a blowtorch and tapped it with aromatic wood to give it fantastic flavor. Sublime! But we were truly impressed by the service. They were friendly, helpful, and seemed joyously passionate even after being open a full year. When we mentioned we had a birthday in our group, they (and their musical rubber chickens) all came to sign happy birthday. Such good folks and great food. Call it a must try in a mini-mall.

Yelp
We went here on a Monday evening at around 5:15 pm to celebrate my wife's birthday. I didn't know we had to reserve a spot beforehand. Crazily, I had reserved a spot the same day (at around 4:00 pm), and we were still able to get seated right when it opened. We ordered the Butcher's Omakase (~$70 at the time of this writing) for both of us. Service was excellent. They had asked if there was any special occasion, and I had mentioned that it was my wife's birthday. At the end of our dinner, they gave us a FREE mini birthday cake with a blowout candle and sang "happy birthday" to us with a rubber chicken. Staff thoroughly explain the omakase experience, which sauces taste the best with the meat, and how long to properly cook the meat to get the most flavor. All the meats melt in your mouth like butter and are comparable to the ones we've had in Japan. I'm sure everyone will have their own unique favorite cut of meat, so I cannot say which is the best. (Personally, it was the US Wagyu fillet for me.) Definitely worth the price and experience. Great spot to celebrate with a special someone. Summary: - BATHROOM. Two separate, male and female bathrooms. Very clean. - CLEANLINESS. Bar-style. Very clean, and they give you new dishes and utensils for every new course. - COSTS. $$$ Expensive. $70 or $50 for the omakase options (at the time of this writing) - CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff were super friendly. - PARKING. Somewhat hidden and small because there are other local businesses that could take up the parking spots or make it difficult (especially the UPS store when the pick up vehicles are taking up shipments at the end of the day. It could take multiple parking spots because it's a large vehicle.) - FOOD QUALITY. Amazing. Comparable to ones from Japan. - FOOD QUANTITY. Small portions, but that's just how Omakase is. - WAIT TIME. They only move on to the next course once you are done with your current course. Cooking the meat could take 30 seconds each side, so it depends on how fast you enjoy each course.

Yelp
I brought my mom here for her birthday, and while I'm generally very easygoing and not someone with especially high standards, the overall experience fell short -- especially considering the cost of over $100 per person. The open-kitchen concept has potential, but in practice it was distracting. Staff members were openly correcting each other and figuring out tasks on the spot, which created an unpolished and uncomfortable atmosphere. For a premium wagyu experience, I expected a smoother, more confident level of service. The pacing of the meal was also disappointing. All the appetizers were placed on the table at once, giving the feeling of being rushed rather than guided through a thoughtful dining progression. Presentation issues added to the inconsistency. The chef would show us one cut of meat, only for a different cut to be served, making the service feel disorganized and less curated than advertised. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the evening, but the execution simply didn't justify the price. At this point, even a well-run AYCE KBBQ spot would offer a more cohesive and attentive experience. I hope they can refine their service, because the concept has potential -- it just wasn't there during our visit.

Yelp
Omakase but make it beef! Everything was so good starting with the veggies and appetizers. There were a good amount of rounds, ending with curry rice and dessert. Took the rice home but was able to finish everything else. So good! Someone with a larger appetite would be satisfied as well.

Yelp
Amazing experience with amazing food and service. Don't come if you're in a rush because they really take their time with the omakase and it's a whole experience (took around 2 hours) I made a lunch resy on a Sunday for us 4. We were seated at an intimate bar with everyone else. there's 2 options - $50 and $70 omakase. We got both and added the Wagyu sushi. the appetizers were great and refreshing like banchan. The eggplant was my favorite (I even ordered more). Meats came out with around 2 slices each. We were worried we would still be hungry at the end but we were wrong. Each meat had a sauce pairing which was really fun. My favorite was the short rib and the A5 Wagyu (melted in our mouths). Dessert was yuzu sherbert which was so refreshing. The staff was very engaging the whole way through and so friendly- they even sang happy birthday with rubber chickens hahah. We had the best time!

Yelp
Impeccable! Highly recommend this experience. Very reasonably priced with good quality meats. Place was clean, and it didn't leave my clothes smelly. Service was fantastic. I left full but not overstuffed like a buffet. I picked the $50 omakase set with the $10 Wagyu sushi upgrade. The upgrade to the Wagyu sushi is WORTH IT!!! The Wagyu items on the menu were delicious, my favorite being the Wagyu filet and Wagyu sushi. I did not like the miso bbq sauce. It was too overpowering. I felt like the meat was so good it didn't need any sauce. Maybe a sprinkle of salt and it's perfect. My husband got the $70 omakase set and stuck with the curry rice. The curry rice is thin, watery ... more like a beef stew. I would upgrade to the wagyu sushi if you can. The appetizers were all delicious, especially the kimchi. I would say this place is perfect for 2 people as it's all bar seating. You can do 4 but it makes for hard conversation. We came here to celebrating our wedding anniversary and left full with happy tummies!

Yelp
Amazing first experience here at Wagyu Butcher! A+ and 5/5 during all aspects of dinner service! You have the option to do two difference omakase dinner sets either at 5:30 or 7:30 PM(during the weekend they have the omakase option during lunch time). They also allow walk ins to order a la carte after 8PM until closing! ** Location: located in a plaza with other shops/restaurants with plenty of parking available. ** Ambience: perfect noise level with social chatter, good mix of music in the background (not too loud) and you can still hear what the servers are telling you about each cut of meat without issues! Loved the modern, clean vibe ** Service: - Wait outside or inside until the prior omakase service is done before YI uare called in by group/reservation. We got started in a pretty timely manner - Our server was attentive, quick, and friendly without being overbearing - Fun fact!! If it's your birthday, the staff will sing happy birthday to you with rubber chickens ** Food: - Pricing I think is fair/great for both the omakase and a la carte items that you're getting. Overall spent about $260 ish including tip for two of the $70 sets with Wagyu upgrade (additional $10 each) with a la carte kurobuta pork, extra dessert and a few drinks - Appetizers: 1) Ceviche: zesty, freshly chopped onions, and few pieces of shrimp. Great way to prep the palate for some beefy cuts of meat 2) Kimchi variations with avocado, classic cabbage and tomato's. Cabbage kimchi too sweet for my taste (I usually prefer the Korean funky, tart and spicy cabbage kimchi). Avocado was okay, nothing to sing praises for. The tomato's, on the other hand, were SO sweet and paired nicely with the nice soy marinade. Yum I wish I could had a bigger service of those. I made sure to savor them 3) Vegetables: simple but delicious way to service the bok choy, broccoli, and asparagus -- soaked in a bit of soy topped with a sprinkle of sesame to provide some nuttiness 4) Yukhoe: very tender, no funkiness at all. Meat was very fresh Meat cuts - Along with each meat cut's sauce pairing, there was also some salt, yuzu kosho, some powdered pepper (?cayenne) and minced garlic that you can use to your hearts desire. The yuzu kosho paired amazingly well with some of the fattier, beefier cuts later in the course so highly recommend! - Each cut came with their own marinade and sauces to pair with. My favorites were the inside skirt, short rib and of course the A5 Wagyu sukiyaki. The A5 Wagyu came with whipped cream that paired surprisingly nicely-- thought it would be too heavy with the cream but because it was so light it didn't overpower the Wagyu at all and added a nice sweetness to the bite. Highly recommend upgrading to the Wagyu sushi -- torched in real time, with a touch of smokiness when they swiped the top with a binchotan coal, served with perfectly cooked/seasoned sushi rice and a generous portion of freshly grated wasabi (the real good stuff, none of that fake wasabi) - Dessert: dessert of the day was a hojicha pudding service with a piping hot cup of hojicha to wash it all down. The pudding had a nice roasted tea flavor, smooth -- my only complaint is I wish I can have 5 of these!!! I have a sweet tooth so had to order extra matcha tiramisu on the side. The cake portion is soaked in what seems like just simple syrup topped with a matcha cream. The matcha had a good, strong real earthy flavor to it that matched nicely to the sweet simple syrup I'm looking forward to coming back with family as another birthday celebration so we can get the staff to sing happy birthday to us with the rubber chickens! Overall, such a wonderful experience in both service and food and again for the cost I think it's definitely so fairly priced!! 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Ate this for my birthday dinner with my mom and this experience was amazing! I've never had anything like this before. The chef's and servers were super kind and fun. If you are meat lover, you have to try this place out. It is a must to pay extra for that A5 Wagyu sushi! My tongue was dancing!

Yelp
Our third visit to Wagyu Butcher was on a Monday. We were the only patrons at 5pm and I loved it! The food was delicious, of course. However, I write to rave about their ramen. The broth was light and beefy and the amount of noodles, just right. They're not a ramen shop but what a novel way to take care of the bits of odds and ends left over at the end of the day. We initially ordered it because it was my spouse's birthday and we needed to eat noodles for long life. So we were delighted to find they had ramen on the menu. We were even more delighted by the ramen, itself. Try it! Enjoy!

Yelp
Truly an experience. Excellent food and amazing service makes Wagyu butcher a place to dine and be seen. Reservation is required as there are two dinner seatings--5 PM and 7:30 PM. Upon arrival, you are asked to wait in the holding area, as if you are awaiting seating at a popular show. It was my first visit so I just people watched and observed all the excited faces. At 7:30 sharp, each reservation is announced with precision and you are seated. It is open kitchen with true Japanese style perfection and enthusiasm from all the workers. The kitchen of course is spotless with loud "irasshaimase" (welcome) booming with each guest taking their seat. You are offered a choice of butcher's omakase ($70) or tenma omakase ($50). Butcher's omakase was very filling. Drinks (beer, wine, sake, shochu) are very reasonably priced. Meat is cut within view in the kitchen. You grill each meat course table side. Appetizers were basic: tofu, kimchi, vegetables. But it escalated to a wagyu beef sashimi to prepare your palate for BEEF. There were seven courses: I started with beef tongue, very flavorful. The server lubricates your grill between courses by mopping it with a fatty piece of meat--nice touch! Wagyu chuck with house made ponzu sauce was tender and accented with tart ponzu. US prime, inside and outside skirt was next with sweet soy (Osaka style)--all freshly grilled and delicious. Hanging tender I was not familiar with but it was equally tasty. Subsequently, there was A5 Wagyu with a clever sukiyaki interpretation. The meat was lightly brushed on the grill and served with sukiyaki flavored cream--pretty insane. The last course was A5 grade beef sushi (definitely worth the upgrade). Thank god I didn't eat any rice or I would have been stuffed. I think this is a reasonably priced experience and culinary adventure. Don't miss this.

Yelp
Ate here on a Friday night during a 5 pm slot. We came here spontaneously one week night to chance a seating--no availability, no problem. Pivoted to another restaurant and scheduled for another night. Made sure to make a reservation in advance. We did the $70 omakase option with the Wagyu sushi for an additional $10. Out of all the meats, my favorite has to be the Sukiyaki A5 Wagyu at the very end (server will cook this one for you). I'm not sure what else they put in the whipped dipping sauce that was paired with the A5, but it was amazing. Next time, I'd probably opt to do the $50 omakase instead and add the A5 as ala cart. I wanted to tap out by meat #4 already, but mama didn't raise a quitter. Dessert of the day was a matcha milk pudding. I enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet.

Yelp
Have you tried omakase but for wagyu beef? It's my first time trying this too so follow me to find out. I had Butcher's omakase set: 1. Appertizer: spinach cream tofu, kimchee, vegetables, salad, shio beef sashimi 7 meat items: 2. Lemon - 3 beef tongues with thin, thick, and tongue kalbi 3. Ponzu - wagyu chuck roll 4. Sweet soy - prime short rib 5. Sweet soy - prime outside skirt 6. Miso - wagyu intestine 7. Miso - wagyu hanging tender 8. A5 wagyu sukiyaki - Dipping sauce for #3: Tokyo style (sweeter) and Osaka style (more sour) 9. Rice & soup 10. Today's dessert - Panna cotta

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary dinner and what an amazing dinner it was. From start to finish, everything was great. Definitely worth it, and make reservations. Parking is easy in the lot. We made reservations for 7:30pm and the place is full. It's small and cozy as part of the experience and only seats about 20-24 people per timeslot. Don't get me wrong, you won't feel cramped or anything in your seat and you get an up close and personal experience. The soup wasn't just the simple miso soup, it was rich bone broth soup. Meats were an excellent variety and well proportioned. All the different sections of the meats, they'll be accompanied by a dipping sauce of some sort. They do season and sauce some of the meats as well, though I'd recommend asking for less salt/sauce in the preparation. They're well accommodating to it. As they tell you, cook each meat one at a time to your liking and take your time to enjoy the meals. Personal favorites, they'll beef tongue and a5.

Yelp
I was so lucky and fortunate a friend took me out on a date to Wagyu Butcher! Their meat was so tender, juicy, and high quality! They are a small cozy establishment with bar top seating only where typically up to 2 people share one grill. The staff took the time to explain each item on the omakase menu and exactly how to cook it. We had a reservation even though it was a weekday and all seats were full. We got the Butcher's Omakase which is $70 per person w/ Upgrade A5 Wagyu Sushi +$10 What is included: - Appetizers Beef Soup Today's Kimchee Today's Vegetable House Salad Shio Beef Sashimi - Meats (7 items) Lemon - US Wagyu Filet or 3 Beef Tongues (thin, thick, & tongue kalbi) Ponzu - US Wagyu Chuck Roll, Flat Iron Steak Sweet Soy - US Prime Short Rib Sweet Soy - US Prime Outside Skirt Miso - US Wagyu Inside Skirt or Intestine Miso - US Wagyu Hanging Tender, Tail Sukiyaki - A5 Wagyu - Rice & Soup Ochazuke - Dessert Today's Dessert Instagram: @jessgoeat

Yelp
I took my husband here for his birthday! It was our first time. We made a reservation ahead of time for 7:30pm. It was a full restaurant! You are able to see the kitchen prepare the meats in front of you. We ordered the $70 omakase with $10 Wagyu sushi upgrade. We really enjoyed the experience! Our server, Yun, was great! He also checked in on us and gave us tips on how to cook each meat. We loved that each meat was paired with a delicious sauce or seasoning. There were some meats that were too chewy for my liking. My most favorite one was definitely the A5 Wagyu in the sukiyaki whip sauce! Absolutely delicious! I also enjoyed the Wagyu sushi, outside skirt, short rib, and filet! It was a very enjoying experience!

Yelp
I have been eyes this place even since they opened and this past weekend I had a chance to try it out. It was fantastic. The best and only bar seating Yakiniku Omakase restaurant in LA right now. They have two seating per night 5pm and 7:30pm. Our reservations was at 7:30pm for 4 people. Once arrived we greeted and was seated at their counter top. Reservations is a must because it's only bar seating no tables. They have 2 different omakase options. The Butcher Omakase at $70 comes with 5 appetizers and 7 different cuts of meat and Tenma Omakase at $50 come with 4 appetizers and 5 different cuts of meat. I ordered the Butcher Omakase plus the $10 upgrade for the A5 Wagyu Sushi and my got the Tenma Omakase. The quality of the meat was fantastic. Here are some of the highlights but pretty much every cut of meat was delicious. US Wagyu Chuck Roll US Wagyu Prime Short Rib US Premium Beef Tongue ( Thick Cut) Sukiyaki A5 Wagyu with Soy Sauce Whipped Cream. A5 Wagyu Sushi US Prime Outside Skirt- love the beefy flavor and the texture of this cut. I did ordered a few al carte of the US Premium Beef Tongue. They were out of the Beef Liver and Beef Heart. Next time. The restaurant let you BYOB. The corkage fee was $25 for a 1.8L which was absolutely a seal. Service was outstanding and professional. Our waitress did some of the grilling for us but for the most part we did our own. Overall, what an amazing yakiniku Omakase dinner. We all have a great time. We leave happy and full. I'm definitely will be returning in the near future. Until our next visit.

Yelp
I had an amazing opportunity to experience this excellent Wagyu omakase. Every cut was so tender and juicy, I loved all of them! What I was surprised about was the amount of appetizers. Started off with kimchi, "namuru" the sesame oil vegetables, and house salad. The flavor of yukhoe was amazing too. Sukiyaki with whipped cream was a bit too sweet for my liking but it's still good. We went with $70 course and that sure will make you full. The service was immaculate. Smooth about everything. It's also nice that you can see everything that they are doing since it's an open kitchen. I got the best seat looking at the butcher cutting the meat. Well cleaned bathroom and sophisticated interiors. Nothing to complain about! We'll be back:)

Yelp
Seriously delectable meats here that carnivores will love! Wagyu Butcher is located in the Van Art Square, just across from the back side of Starbucks. TIP: There are basically 2 seatings, one at 5PM when they open and the other at 7:30PM. Reservations can be made through Tock. If you arrive later than those times, then your dining time is shortened. We arrived at 6PM which I would not recommend. We were just checking to see if there were any seats available. Fortunately, on a Thursday evening, the place was only 2/3 full, so we were able to dine here. One & a half to two hours is more of an enjoyable time to allow yourself for at least the Omakase dinner here. There's only counter seating which faces the staff and kitchen like at a Sushi Counter. You can watch the prep for the Omakase and other orders. There's a lot of work going on. The staff works efficiently. Our plates were cleared and new dishes were served in a timely fashion. Hubby and I chose to get the Butcher's Omakase. It includes 5 Appetizers (although we only got 4 because they forgot to give both of us the US Wagyu Sashimi), 7 Meats, Oxtail Soup with Rice, and a Dessert. Everything included in the Omakase was great! In the Omakase setup, there are two categories where you are given a choice in meats. I chose the three Beef Tongues and hubby chose the US Wagyu Filet. For the other meat choice, we both chose the US Wagyu Inside Skirt. Included in the Omakase was one A5 Wagyu from Japan. All the other meats we had were from the US. The best piece of Tongue I think was the Thin Cut. The Thick Cut and the Kalbi were both a little tougher. They use a piece of fat to oil the grill. They advise you as to what sauces to use with which meats. We are left to cook every piece of meat except the Sukiyaki - A5 Wagyu from Japan. The lady said it was tricky to cook. She did it with great expertise! This meat was fantastic and truly magnificent! Two of the most tender pieces of meat I've ever eaten! We were started with Tomatoes in Tosazu Vinegar Gelée which was quite tasty! We were also given plates with Today's Kimchee and Today's Vegetable. And, as I stated earlier, we didn't receive the US Wagyu Sashimi. I am so sad about that! We didn't even realize it until we got home and I was checking out my pictures. I really enjoyed the Oxtail Soup with Rice - Ochazuke! I was getting so full by this point that I couldn't finish it. It was really delicious! Lastly, for dessert, we got a Matcha Milk Pudding and some Hot Tea. We were a little rushed because we came in to start dinner later than at the beginning of their seating period. They never rushed us and were so kind to tell us to take our time. If you want to order a la carte or add items to go with your Omakase meal, you have that option, too! We look forward to coming back in hopes of having a few different options in the Omakase. We will plan to arrive at one of the start times! We ate delicious food with a wonderful experience!

Yelp
You don't wanna miss this wagyu omakase experience right here in the South Bay! From the start, they serve up homemade dishes and appetizers that instantly set the vibe. I went with the Butcher's Menu ($70/person) and it came with 5 appetizers, 7 different meats including A5 wagyu, a rice item, and dessert. My top picks? 100% the prime short rib and the A5 wagyu--especially with their house-made sauces. Everything was melt-in-your-mouth good. But honestly, what made the night even better was the warm customer service and cozy ambience. It seriously felt like I got transported straight back to Japan. Definitely bookmarking Wagyu Butcher in Torrance as one of my go-to spots. Don't sleep on it! Shoutout to Kaku and Taku

Yelp
Casual set menus of Japanese bbq. Went on a Tuesday evening - was a very clean looking place with good ventilation. Could not smell much smoke or remnants of meat - which was a plus (did not want to smell like bbq the rest of the night haha). Ordered the $70 set menu and got quite a bit of appetizers and a succession of delicious pieces of meat. They also have frosted Sapporo beers, which is another plus. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
10/10 experience. First thing first, make sure you get a reservation! The place is very small and only have options for 5pm and 7:30pm spots and you must have a reservation. I tried walking in once and they said they were booked up, which makes sense because there's a couple of options with a set menu and everyone gets served around the same time. The meat quality is some of the best that I've tried. You can cook it yourself but the servers are nice enough to help you cook your meat as well. All of the dishes were tasty and will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Came here for the $70 meal! It was worth every penny! This place was on my radar for weeks and ended up coming wi the my cousin. Every single plate was delicious and while it may seem you won't get full, it was just the right amount of food. The menu is well thought out and everything g tasted fresh and delicious. The staff was extra attentive and very informative about each plate. I would highly recommend this place. Takes a bit to find seats but worth it.

Yelp
Last night I had the pleasure of dining here for their first seating of dinner service. This was such an excellent experience. From start to finish, which took about two hours, I dined on the "Butcher's Omakase". This included a few appetizer bites, 7 courses of wagyu delicacies, ochazuke, and a dessert. You can pair your coursed meal with a selection of different beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We opted for the chu-hai, plum wine, matcha IPA, and highball. All of the staff was on top of their game as they buzzed around the restaurant slicing the beef, prepping plates, serving guests, and assisting with cooking the meats, whenever possible. Their hospitality skills were top notch! The wagyu omakase is unlike anything I've done before. I loved sitting on the chef's counter and watching them work their magic as they delicately and precisely cut each slice of meat for plating. Some of the cuts that I tried included US wagyu filet, beef tongue, US wagyu chuck roll, US prime short rib, US prime outside skirt and inside skirt, US wagyu cheek, and A5 wagyu. Besides the items on the set menu, you can also order a la carte cuts. I tried the US wagyu premium heart and liver sashimi. If you're looking for a unique experience run by an expert staff, you must dine here ASAP! I'll definitely be returning soon.

Yelp
Got the Butcher's omakase. Added liver and premium heart 1. Appetizers: all were okay 2. Chose the Wagyu fillet, skirt and beef tongue at the options -Most of the pieces were sliced thick. Some were a big tough and chewy. There as a lot of meat for sure. The best piece was the thinly slices A5 Wagyu sukiyaki. -The premium heart add on was good. 3. Curry: keema curry. Tasted fine. Pretty full at this point 4. Dessert: matcha pudding. good flavor but to thick. Would be better if more thin/silky. Service was great overall with dishes being cleared quickly. If I were to come back, I would just get the A5 Wagyu, heart, and tongue a la carte and try new dishes. Most of the pieces in the omakase, were too thick and sometimes slightly tough to eat. You do get a lot of meat for a yakiniku, so the price is good.
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
This place was great, the quality of meat was immaculate. The staff was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the food they served. All the cuts were very good and high quality. The favorite war the a5 wagyu from japan and the 3 different kinds of tongue. Each meat served usually accompanied a sauce or something to dip or rub it in. It really enhanced the flavor of the meat...although sometimes a little bit of salt just added the right kind of taste. You have to choose the $70 or $50 omakase before you can choose the a la carte which is worth exploring, especially the premium heart. The atmosphere is great, very lively and open. You can see the chefs cooking and prepping in real time. It gives you a sense of an intimate experience. I will say though the only downside is that since there aren't tables. It's hard to hear so having an intimate group of 2-3 ppl is best.
google avatar

Glenn R.

Yelp
My wife and I tried Wagyu Butcher for the first time, she got the $70 omakase, I had the $50, there were only two additional cuts of meat with the $70 and I got to try them both. Every cut was super flavorful, and the A5 Wagyu, serviced with a cream sauce, was unreal! We were both blown away at how delicious everything was, even the Kimchi and vegetables. I believe they change up the menu every so often. The Earl Grey milk pudding was a nice way to finish the meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and made the whole experience fun and welcoming. I've eaten at some high-end spots before, but this topped most of them. Great food, great service--we'll definitely be back and will be bringing friends. Just know they have two dinner sittings, so plan ahead!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing deal for the price. Came with my girlfriend to try their wagyu omakase. We both absolutely loved it. The 70 vs 50 dollar is very little difference. While you do get A5 I wouldn't say it's necessary. In fact my gf loved the filet much more and admittedly it was fantastic. We ordered a few extras as well. Tongue was tender but may be a little chewy. Heart had great flavor but may not be for you since it has a bit more of an iron flavor. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Tori D.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals I've ever had for $70. It is an omakase style wagyu restaurant with cuts that melt in your mouth. The staff is also incredible and was attentive to everything. They not only offer to help cook your steaks but they provide sauce pairings that elevate the meal to a new level. My favorite flavor profile was their Sweet Soy Tokyo style which was the perfect sweetness. You definitely need a recommendation as the seating is limited and the entire experience lasts about 2 hours. They were very good at spacing out the dishes though and their timing was perfection. Overall, this feels like it should be on the Michelin guide and I would strongly recommend getting a seat while the reservations are relatively easy to get.
google avatar

Chester C.

Yelp
If you're looking for more of an omakase yakiniku experience this place is the only place I've seen in the L.A. area. Definitely worth a try and you get to experience different cuts with some additional upgrades as well. Full meal and good service. You'll still have to grill your own meat for the most part, definitely worth trying if Japanese bbq is your thing.
google avatar

Jon O.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service! Amazing flavors...if you're a beef lover, this is place to be. Highly recommend the A5 Waygyu. The best way I can describe it is that its like eating the most tender and flavorful beef cut that I've ever had. We'll be back for more and its definitely worth making a reservation for a special meal.

Yelp
I saw a review on Infatuation LA and since I'm a local, I called my friend to check it out. This is a Japanese BBQ omakase experience. They have two seatings a night and two set menus. You can add on to the menu with some a la carte items but you can't go a la carte on your own. It's $50 or $70. We went for the $70 menu. Neither of us wanted intestine so they subbed it out with some inside skirt steak. During the meal, you would see the open kitchen and the "butcher" prepping the servings of meat for all the guests. You cook it yourself. Each meat serving was maybe 1-2 ounces. We were stuffed. Standout dishes would be the salad (I know, huh?), outside skirt steak, the A5 Wagyu, and the rice bowl. My friend also ordered the ponzu tendon which he thought was great. He forced me to try it and let's just say I'm still not a tendon fan. More for him. It's bar seating and the bar wraps around the kitchen. Overall, I'd go back. It was a nice experience. The service was friendly. Food was good.

Yelp
A friend sent a link to here and said you better get to this place quick! They just got voted one of the best restaurants in LA. Came for dinner the next night and man I can see why! Everything was incredible. The staff were friendly & engaging. Great beer list and the sake pairing was perfect for the omakase. We opted for the butcher omakase and enjoyed every tasting. Each bite was better than the one before. The homemade sauces were incredible. We were front and center to the chefs prep station; watching his knife skills is a treat all on its own. The setting was nice and intimate, loved the music, and easy parking. 12/10 - excited we got in when we did and can't wait for them to win over all their future customers.

Yelp
Wonderful date night location! Due to the seating arrangement I wouldn't recommend parties larger than 2 people (you can only really talk to the person seated next to you). Coursed menu was beautifully spaced out and explained. Chefs cut the meat right in front of you. Very friendly staff and clean restaurant. A must for meat lovers!
google avatar

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
This place is so amazing! I got the butcher menu with the added a5 wagyu sushi and everything I tasted was so good! They start you off with veggies, but I would definitely save some to cut the meatiness while you go through the course. My favorite was the tongue, a5 wagyu sushi (worth the extra $10), and the outside skirt. I felt like I was transported to Japan and I loved how intimate the seating was. It was truly a great experience and I would definitely come back!

Yelp
good meal, they need to have a set with actual japanese wagyu; 3 dinner time slots, or they won't last past 2025. Its a good deal and their cash flow isn't high enough to maintain rent. Or they can open up a lunch time slot. Either way, for a place that says wagyu butcher, they didn't have alot of actual wagyu cut, only american prime. i'm down to go again once they switch up their menu

Yelp
We have been wanting to visit this place since it opened about 6 months ago. They have been getting great reviews and we were glad that we got a reservation on a Saturday night. I reserved my table through Tock for my wife and son. This place did not disappoint. Each dish was delicious. All the cuts of beef were very fresh and tasty. Especially when matched with the different sauces. We ordered the $70 Butcher's Omakase as it was the best value and we wanted to try the A5 Wagyu from Kagoshima. The also have the Tenma set for $50 but it doesn't include the A5 Kagoshima Wagyu. The meat was fresh and it was great to see the staff prepare all the cuts right in front of us. We also had great from the staff. Especially from our server Yun! He made the experience fantastic for us and we appreciated him going above and beyond. Thanks for a great dining night Wagyu Butcher! We definitely want to come back.

Yelp
Came here by reservation on their grand opening month. Fantastic prices for the quality of meat you get. Private lot, ample space. Their concept is omakase sushi style but Japanese bbq meat. Each meat ordered a la carte comes with two slices so you can try all the variety they offer. All the meats were prepared by the main chef at the front. Each was prepared carefully and with intention. Highlights: The intestine was a bit crunchy and usually hard to eat, but the way they sliced partially into the meat made it way easier to chew and enjoy. Beef tongue was tender and delish. Just missed the negi combo. Kalibi was super fatty and filling. A5 wagyu was melt in your mouth delicious, the fat was sweet. Wagyu actually from Japan hits different for sure. Their curry rice is tomato based, very refreshing but also lots of umami from the great meats they use with a nice kick Already looking forward to coming back. It's just far with traffic so hoping they open earlier.

Yelp
Great price for an amazing Wagyu omakase. Service is great - all the servers are so kind and take their time explaining the dishes to you. The restaurant has 20 counter style seats with dinner times daily at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Highly recommend making reservations. Sometimes they will post on their Instagram if seats are available for walk in day of. There is plenty of parking in the lot. You can add on additional orders but I think the Butchers Omakase is definitely the way to go for only $70!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
We had the butcher's omakase and it was so much food. We did not finish. We had to take some to go. All the cuts of meat is good, but the best is the last one a5 wagyu sukiyaki. It went so well with the soy sauce whipped cream. If you can't eat that much, I'd skip the few meat dishes before the a5 because it's really fatty. Their veggies were so good as well. There was not 1 dish we didn't like. The decor is really nice and its a bar where you can watch the chefs prepare the meats and dishes. There's only 2 seatings each day at 5pm and 7:30pm and I believe they're reservations only. Decent amount of parking in this plaza.

Yelp
I would recommend this place to anyone ready to splurge, it was fantastic. We got the bigger tasting menu and upgraded to the waygu sushi and loved every course. They put a lot of thought into their dipping sauces and their peppered yuzu dip was to die for. The staff was very kind and friendly, I wanted to be adventurous and try the intestine and they showed me the best way to grill it , this ended up being my favorite dish. I love the fact that it's all bar seating , it created a lively atmosphere and it was easy to see what the crowd favorites were. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. You can tell this place is all about interaction as well as immaculate taste. Everyone was super friendly and our server led us in the right direction as was just fantastic. I felt this place was perfect for both seasoned foodies and those new to Japanese BBQ. The chefs' passion, attention to detail, and love for their craft was evident in every bite we took. I mean the A5 Wagyu was just incredible, the rice porridge perfect for a cold, rainy day, the inside and outside skirt steaks tender. I fell in love with the yuzu topping and had to put it on everything. One tip, they give great little pickled bites, salad etc. prior but if you are not careful you will get full quick. So just be mindful as the you don't want to miss any meat!!!

Yelp
Simply mandatory for anyone who likes first-class beef -- with service to match. The $$$$ is wrong/misleading. The Tenma course offers just about all that most people can eat, for just $50. (Do the upgrade.) A good glass of wine is less than $10. Phenomenal quality and value!

Yelp
The best wagyu place for sure! I m gonna go to anywhere else for wagyu from now on! Wagyu Butcher is serving omakase style wagyu bbq style in Torrance. And only have 2 time slots available per day. 5 or 7:30pm. Server are super nice and friends. 5 appetizers, 7 meats options (including 2 pieces os A5 wagyu. 1 protein dish, and 1 dessert! Omg! And also!!!! You can add $30 more for5 kinds of sake pairing with each meat. They are serving the medium size of cups for sake, not the small ones! You spend your money worth! I m so happy with my meal, and can't wait to come back again. Don't worry about the parking! It's in a plaza with lots of parking spaces.

Yelp
We had a really great experience at Wagyu Butler on a Saturday night. We had made a reservation for a party of three on Saturday for 5 PM. It was a full house at that time slot so be sure to make a reservation. Everyone showed up on time as well. The seating is bar seating surrounding an open kitchen where you can see the staff butchering meat and cooking. I really enjoyed watching them butcher the huge hunks of meat. We decide to order the $70 omakase. The sides and meat were all really yummy. I found all the side dishes well-seasoned. For the meat, the waiter explained the meat and offered to help us cook it if we wanted. Some of the meats came with different sauces to dip. Everything was delicious and we left very full and happy. I can't wait to come back. This is a great addition to the area and wish them success.

Yelp
Tonight we celebrated my birthday at the Wagyu Butcher. I've seen so many reviews and I am a beefeater. Love beef and this concept is also really appealing. They have two dinner service times, one at 5 pm and one at 7:30 pm. We made reservations a few weeks ago. There's limited seating, similar to a sushi bar with grills placed every few spaces. We got lucky and got great seats in front of the butcher. He prepared all the meat and cut it and marinated or seasoned them right before our eyes. We ordered the Omakase set menu that had 7 different dishes, from steak tartar, to different cuts of meat and even Wagyu sushi. We had some appetizers included and finished the meal with Yuzu sherbet. We did order one dish a la carte, which was the special beef heart (fatty). The beef dishes were fantastic and really good quality. They unpackaged a whole vacuum sealed Wagyu side of beef in front of us. It was very impressive. The staff were so friendly and explained all the dishes. There's not a lot of carbohydrate in the side dishes included. Overall, it was a great meal, wonderful presentation and spot on service. It made for a special meal! Forgot to mention the 80's music....my favorite tunes from the 80's were playing during the meal. Great playlist
