Very clean, and peaceful atmosphere. Greeted as we entered. Instead of asking if we wanted water we were instantly brought ice water with a lemon slice in it and tea! The food was seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing! Potions were huge and prices very reasonable!! The customer service is above and beyond here!! We will be going back very soon!!

Out of all the Chinese restaurants offered in Salem, Oregon, Yan Yan Chinese Cuisine has been our family favorite. With consistent, delicious, and beautiful portions for all of our pickup orders, we continue to happily return. We have ordered online for pickup through SmoreSmash in the past, but plan to order by phone in the future, to ensure Yan Yan Chinese Cuisine does not have to split the profits. Their General Tso's Chicken is sublime! We always order huge, as Yan Yan Chinese Cuisine is a treat for our family. So doubling up on the BBQ Pork and Pot Stickers is a must! Always choosing Pork Fried Rice over white rice. Szechuan Beef, Chicken Subgum Chow Mein, and House Special Chow Fun, our Christmas 2025 meal plan was completely perfect! Obviously, we will be back again and again and again!

Food very delicious my kids are picky eaters and they love the food

Yan Yan Chinese Restaurant is one of those hidden gems that never disappoints. It’s been a while since I last visited, but I was quickly reminded how good the food is. We ordered 2 of the family special at $19 per person, and everything came out fresh, super hot, and packed with flavor. I especially appreciated the shrimp, served tail-off and piping hot, just how I like them. The service is always quick and friendly, and the quiet, casual atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. There’s plenty of parking, which is a bonus. The portions were generous enough to feed four or five people, so we had lots of leftovers to take home. Will absolutely return.

I used to go to this restaurant until I bit into a bandaid. They treated me like I was lying and trying to get free food but I just wanted them to take accountability. I don't want food from them every again. Their owner's response was "no one was hurt." Thankfully all tests came back negative, but I have to get tested again in 6 months to be sure. I will never eat here again. My whole family and extended family will not eat here again either. I've given this business months to take accountability and I'm done waiting. I have turned them into the health department. I've since been told gross stories from some friends which have had bad experiences here too.

We stopped on our way home and found this gem. Their food was delicious and their service was pretty quick. We ordered Singapore noodles and Pad Thai noodles with a special request. We loved it and hope to be back soon.

Soo happy we dined in for dinner at Yan Yans! The food is always great. I have picky kids and with Yan Yans they are always full when they finish eating! We will definitely be back in soon!

1st time here. Clean and quick service. Generous portions. Pepper shrimp was fair. Small shrimp, seasoned well. Chicken lo mein was a bit saucy but still enjoyable. The spring rolls were very good.

The Americans in there seemed nicer than the owners. Ordered a hot and sour soup and when I called back to see if they can replace a refund what I've only taken a bite out of the owner says it's not my problem that she doesn't like it and refuse to help me after that. I don't think I'm ever coming back here. $12 for a large soup anyways it's kind of a lot.

Food and service was awesome! The ambience is calm and usually always busy. Love this place. It looks a little skeptical from the outside but it's pretty clean inside and the food is so delicious!

We really enjoy Yan Yan. Servers are friendly. The food is consistently good. I like that they have a lunch special every day, not just Monday through Friday. Their General Tso chicken is outstanding, they make great eggrolls. Today I had the Mongolian beef for the first time and that wasn't my favorite. A little too soupy. But everything else I've ever had there is delicious. Good portion sizes as well. Love the Low Mein

The service so great! We stopped in on a whim after soccer and we were starving and had lots of kids with us and everyone was so great. The kids and us all agreed the food was amazing. We got several dishes, none disappointed. We had beef broccoli, general tao chicken, chicken low mein, orange chicken, chicken friend rice, potstickers, and steamed white rice and they gave us complimentary egg drop soup. The quality was excellent and everything tasted so yummy, we all agreed it's our new Chinese place and we're definitely going back. The portions are big and pricing is not bad at all.

Dining indoors was a 90 minute wait, cold inside. Waiters looked professional, but cooks catered to togo orders. Too long to wait.

I have eaten here twice, once in the restaurant and ordered for delivery. The restaurant was smaller then I thought inside, but was clean and comfortable. The service was good, and we were seated right away. When the food arrived, it was hot, fresh and great portions. The food was delicious, both in the store and at home. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Stopped for charging our car and found this restaurant near by and decided to do takeout as it looked kind of beaten down from outside however when we walked in the restaurant looked inviting and warm and we decided to dine-in instead. We were the only customers so were greeted right away . The food comes with a half cup of soup and I decided to go with Hot n sour and egg drop for the Hubby .They also bring out hot jasmine tea and it was delightful for the snowy day it was . I ordered Szechuan Shrimp and Scallops which comes with a side of rice .The dish was good and they did make it spicy on my request however it was overloaded with veggies and not enough seafood which was a little disappointing . My husband got Chicken fried rice and seemed to enjoy it , I found it a little bland and plain tasting . By the time we were leaving the restaurant was full of people doing takeout and they barely had time to take our bill. The portion sizes are huge and you can totally get two meals out of a plate . Great value for money .

Whenever I'm in Oregon and feening for Chinese, I have my haunts in Portland. It's a rare thing for me to be in Salem as it is nowadays, let alone eat Chinese food here. Due to a family event, many of us found ourselves here at Yan Yan (顏顏). My expectations were incredibly low, but they managed to surprise me with a number of family style dishes. Situated right next to the infamous Wing Wa market (#1) Yan Yan has a bigger parking lot than they do a restaurant, which is fairly cramped quarters when it comes down to it. When my family came in to claim the reservation, the cute waitress ran into the kitchen screaming, "Help! They're speaking Chinese!" It's clear that we're not the usual customer base. I took a peak at their menu, which is almost all Americanized Chinese food. The usual suspects, everything from from general tso's to almond chicken, were here. Some infamous items like egg foo young or mongolian beef and some head scratchers like hawaii chicken (?) and something called a triple dragon. Most of the food is in the sub $10-13 range, which in 2019 is considered fairly affordable. The dishes they prepared for us however, were a slew of authentic dishes (well, mostly). Huge portions for our massive group was key and they did not disappoint. We were able to rock an assorment of dried up shrimp fried rice, special combination chow fun, Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, some roast pork siu yuk with crispy skin and fatty meat, roast duck and steamed chicken (#2), salt and pepper squid, and some egg drop soup served in a big metal bucket. A little ghetto, but very awesome. All in all, the food was passable but this was truly an extraordinary feat since they clearly went out of their way to make this happen for us. The service was diligent and friendly, despite the cultural barrier and I like to think that our experience was truly a unique one. ___________ (#1) Good ol Wing Wa (永華市場) is one of the only Asian markets in Salem. The fact it calls itself an "Oriental" market is a solid indication of how long it's been around (decades!). (#2) It's also highly plausible the meats actually from Wing Wa's BBQ section. I still enjoyed regardless.

We always get amazing food with generous portions when we order to go.. our favorites are the egg foo young and diced almond chicken.. We feel their prices are very fair for the size of their portions.. Staff has always been pleasant.

The dining room carpet is nearly black with filth. You can see edge areas that are not walked on that are cream and red colors. It's disgusting. I wonder what the kitchen floors look like.

I feel like I have outgrown Chinese food. My body no longer craves artificial, salt and sugar soaked garbage cuisine. The quality control in Chinese restaurants in particular is so poor, that I can no longer eat it without picking through it first, looking for something disgusting. The worst part, is that I almost always find something disgusting. I think this will be the last time I ever knowingly and intentionally eat Chinese food. The fact that this place is one of the TOP rated Chinese joints in Salem, really says a lot. I give them a generous 2 stars, the extra star only being for the fact that chow fun is so hard to find for some reason but they had it, which was my only reason for coming here. Needless to say, it was disappointing and kind of gross.

Great food with an even better price. Their proportions are super generous! Definitely one of the better Chinese food restaurants around the area.

I hate to leave a two star review, but I was so disappointed in my experience today. I've been coming here for a decade or so. The food is always tasty and VERY HOT. I ordered three combos and the Singapore Rice Noodles. I was told how long it would be and went to pick it up. The food was ready pretty close to the time quoted. I got in the car and headed home. The food was so hot it melted through the bottom of the styrofoam to go containers, leaked through the bag and made a mess in my car. Certainly wasn't expecting that. I mean it is 2022, time to upgrade your containers and get with the times. Styrofoam is unhealthy and bad for the planet. I called to let them know what happened and the girl told me she would let the managers know. That's it. I then pushed a little further and she apologized and said once more that she would let her manager know. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I certainly didn't receive it. I guess it's dine in only for me now.

Have been coming to Yan Yan since 2015 and today 04/03/2021 was not as good as the last time we did take out or good like the past (5) years. The pork fried rice pieces were bland and a bit over cooked and for sure dried when heated up for dinner later that night. The Pork Lo Mein also had the dry & bland cha su pork pieces but the overall dish tasted kind of bland too. I also have to say the hot & sour soup provided with the order was less flavorful than in the past. The sweet & sour pork was cooked to perfection as usual. I hope it was simply an off day experience and hoping the original cook did not leave. Will see how the test is the next time I do takeout again.

Ordered House Special Noodle, very delicious, with generous portions of BBQ pork, chicken meat, shrimps, and quite a lot of veggies. Nice tasty broth. I requested broth on the side, no MSG. Highly recommend it!

For a takeaway the food quality, quantity and service is great. The restaurant is a bit dated in decor.

I've been on the hunt for the best Chinese food in town... i was highly impressed with my meal tonight. I spent just under $100 to feed a lot of people and everyone loved it. First and foremost, the BBQ pork is a MUST. I've never had any other like it! Second, the General Tso's Chicken is incredible. My kids love the Orange Chicken and they even package the sauce separate in takeouts. Brilliant. Makes for no soggy orange chicken. The best part, they threw in a few extras for us with no charge! I'll definitely be going there soon.

The absolute best chinese in Salem! Staff are so accommodating -- considering I'm vegetarian I don't know anything about their meat options but best tofu around! I've brought my carnivore friends and have never heard a complaint. Only place I'll order from. Large portions, great for left overs and great prices. I will always recommend!! First time here. Greeted very nicely. Small but very clean and comfortable restaurant. Lemon wedge in the water Ann's great hot tea. We ordered Fried Shrimp for an appetizer. Generously sized shrimp, crispy and fresh. We ordered General Tao's Chicken and Twice Cooked Pork from the main menu. Steamed rice and soup accompanied the mains. We tried the Hot and Sour soup - very good and chock full of crispy veg and silky tofu. The General Tao was crisp, well sauced and simply amazing! The Twice Cooked Pork was very good. Lots of poor and yummy cabbage. You can select your level of heat which is great! You've won us over, well worth the drivvr from Lebanon!

I won't have Chinese at any other location. This is by far the best. My little family have been coming for 3 years now and have it about twice or more a month! Love love love

This I easily one of the best $10 dollar meals I've ever had. The general Tao's chicken was very crispy and stayed crispy but it wasn't coated in a thick heavy batter. The sauce was very good too. I got the hot version and it was nicely balanced, but the mild one might be on the sweet side. Egg foo young was also nice and crispy. Even the complimentary tea was very enjoyable, which is uncommon for casual restaurants like this. I will definitely be returning to try other lunch combinations.

While undergoing chemo, after my sessions we try to find places in town while here got a treat. Tonight it was to be Asian. Found this little well hidden spot and based on reviews wanted to give it a go. First off, parking is good and like the way the inside is set up. Now for the important part. Service was top notch, very attentive and fast. The food, we ordered "A" combo meal and besides the massive amount the quality was awesome. We will have a full second meal with the leftovers making this than $7/meal. We will be back to try more choices as well.

Came here on a last minute dinner date, looking for a good plate of Chinese food. Staff was very polite and accommodating. Gave me the last of the lemon wedges they had when I asked for extra! Food was also amazing! Egg Flower Soup was rich and delicious. Dinner special was only $12 for a heaping plate of food. I got the Egg Rolls, lemon chicken and steamed rice. Friend got Kung Pao Chicken and said it was spot on. Great food for a great price. Will be back!

Was on Lancaster and though we would try this place as the Yelpers seemed to like it. Small parking lot that leads to the asian market. Looks kinda old from the outside. Smaller than anticipated inside but generall neat and clean. Place was very busy for a Sunday evening. Pot stickers good. Special Chow Mein( Cantonese style) good, sweet and sour chicken good. Huge portions. Server was very nice and sweet and kept the waters filled. Good Chinese top 5 in Salem easy.

Tonight I ordered 4 dishes and a side it was $45 for an order pick up. What a great deal!! And thank you for "on the house" we tell everyone about you and the food is always on point!!
