On the Grid : Rooster

"St. Louis is no newcomer to southern food, but Rooster has been winning praise left and right. Rooster’s new spin on brunch has been the combination with southern soul food which they serve all day, as well as nice selection of more traditional dinner and lunch fares. On top of all of that they also make an amazing crepe. Inside they’ve done a good job of making a vast dining room seem small and personal, which makes it a comfortable place to go any time of day." - Grain

Stopped in while passing through St Louis- it was busy for a Saturday brunch but have the option to join the waitlist online which is convenient. I ordered a Carmel Apple latte that was DELICIOUS- I had the pork slinger which was an amazing conglomeration of toast, eggs, sausage and bacon with homemade gravy on top- it also came with tasty potatoes on the side. I didn’t know what to expect from a “slinger” but was pleasantly surprised -others in our group had the Pork Slinger, zucchini scramble (for the vegetarian). Rooster slinger and Farmers platter- all delicious! We all shared a strawberry and cream crepe for dessert. Parking was easy and prices affordable.

Google
The service was ok but somewhat inattentive. The zucchini crepe had a great combination of flavors (zucchini, mushrooms,Swiss cheese and onions) and was quite satisfying though not too filling. The crepe itself was really just a wrap for the contents. When compared to the crepes of a street vendor in France, they are unacceptable, lacking the expected moistness and texture. Regarding the lemon crepe, the lemon curd was excellent, however the addition of blueberries and granola/graham crackers detracted from the lemon flavor and added to excessive competing flavors and sweetness in a mediocre crepe. The coffee was excellent.

Anytime I come into STL, this will forever be my first stop! Rooster has a great environment, the best breakfast, & the people are so kind. Especially Jake. You’re awesome Jake!!! 100/10 service! I get the goat cheese, pesto, bacon scramble. It’s my go to & will probably be yours after you have it too.

Our first time eating out in St. Louis, and things were already looking up! We found this spot just 45 minutes before arriving in town. Being selective, especially on a holiday when many places were closed, this one stood out—not only was it open, but it had great reviews. So, we decided to make the extra 20-minute drive past our hotel to give it a try and officially kick off our weekend. The kids were still tired and cranky from the drive up from Tulsa (sorry to the staff who had to deal with their hangry faces). But once the food hit our table and the coffee started doing its job, we could finally muster up some smiles and proper thank-yous! From the moment we pulled into the parking lot and walked toward the entrance, the place gave off a warm, welcoming vibe. The atmosphere inside was modern, stylish, and thoughtfully put together. Every server we saw seemed energized and upbeat, darting around with a smile—it added to the good mood we were starting to settle into. Just one small thing to mention: I stopped by the bathroom on the main floor and noticed the soap dispenser was empty and there were no paper towels. As I was leaving, a kitchen employee happened to be walking out... So it left me wondering—if there was no soap or paper towels, how exactly did he wash his hands? I know I might be a little picky about stuff like this, but cleanliness is a big deal to me—as it should be for everyone, especially in a restaurant setting. That aside, thank you all for the awesome experience. This was a great start to our St. Louis weekend!

Google
Super busy for brunch on the weekends but they still manage to find h seating! The workers are hard working and very fast. The inside is spacious with lots of seating. The bathrooms were pretty clean as well. I got the chicken Caesar salad and left nothing on the plate. It was so tasty and filling! My friend also got super full off her juicy burger. I would definitely come here again for brunch and try a breakfast item next time. They have fun drinks too!

Google
Have been a loyal patron however this location has gone significantly downhill. We ordered crepes which were so disgusting we couldn’t eat them. The server, who was extremely nice had the manager (Sam) come over to help with the issue and he dismissed us saying they are supposed to be that way and was extremely rude to us. We will not be back which is very sad since we used to come here all the time. It’s obvious there is a problem with the manager that needs to be corrected. Overpriced and we left with empty bellies with no compensation.

5 Stars – Outstanding Experience! I had breakfast at Rooster and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful—truly top-notch. The service was just as impressive. Jack, our waiter, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Friendly, attentive, and professional. This place deserves 5 stars for both food and service. Highly recommend!

Google
We went for lunch/brunch and received excellent service and really great food. The breakfast burrito was superb! The gluten free Nutella menu item was enjoyed but the serving size was tiny. The fig crepe was generous and tasty. The server was fantastic! We had a table in the back area and that was nice. The huge long shared table space was pretty much occupied and would not have worked for conversations.

Yelp
Really great place. We will be back. Great vegan options. Fresh juice, good coffee, nice friendly service. Cool area and nice vibe. Eat Vegan!

Yelp
I enjoyed the aesthetics and the layout of the restaurant. The music was fantastic and gave a great vibe to the restaurant. I also enjoyed the service (Eddie), the server was very kind and offered suggestions since this was my first time. I ordered the farmers plate as I enjoy variety. The bacon was delicious but everything else was okay. I ordered French toast instead of regular toast. The French toast seemed like it was missing something. My food also didn't come out hot and I asked to warm up. $20 for food that doesn't come out hot wasn't cool. Overall it was a decent experience and may return to try something different on the menu.

Yelp
I've been to this Rooster location a handful of times and it's a pretty solid spot. The interior space is super open and bright, but can be a little loud and hard to hear during peak hours. The community style seating looks pretty, but in practicality isn't my favorite thing. The menu has standard brunch offerings, and while I enjoyed my food and latte, it wasn't anything groundbreaking. Our server was quick and friendly and it was the first time I paid with a QR code receipt, which made it convenient for our group to pay separately. Overall, Rooster is conveniently located and worth trying if you're around the area and you'll get what you'd expect from a typical brunch place.

Yelp
We wanted brunch on a Sunday. We knew it was going to be busy so get got on the wait list before we left our house. I think we waited 30 minutes or so, not too terrible. There are tables outside to hang out while you wait Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Yelp
Service was superb! Sam the manager greeted us and sat us promptly! Jack, our server, was fun and so kind and was very attentive. The food was delicious and the portions were massive! I highly recommend getting the stuffed French toast for your yourself or for the table if you want sweet! They have a ton of different options on the menu too. The potatoes were well seasoned and everything had so much flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious breakfast- from crepes to biscuits and gravy to fresh fruit! Fun atmosphere with a variety of seating options including a very large community table for smaller parties. Coffee was tasty and fresh. Everyone we encountered, from the moment we opened the door to us walking out full and happy, were lovely and kind. It was a very pleasant morning in St Louis! We will be heading back!

Yelp
Food was not good here, I mean I tried to like something but I guess coffee and Oj were decent. The ambiance was nice overall and service was friendly. I will say those mental chairs were hard to sit on!

Yelp
Super friendly server, great service, consistently delicious food. But on phone in orders, they need a better system to make sure orders have everything in the ticket.

Yelp
The service: 5 stars. First - we had a great experience with the service. Seated promptly, greeted by a kind person who answered all of our questions. I ordered a gluten free crepe and the chef came out and said they were out of the MO sausage and if I would like to swap for ham. Great service. The food: Woof. Please see my photo. I ordered a gluten free crepe, which I have had at other locations before. The crepe mixture was *not* cooked. It was a globular wet mess and it was like eating raw Bisquik and that is not how gluten free crepes are. It was a sticky mess. I was with a friend who loved her entree and I did not want to cause a scene so I just scraped the meat, apples, and cheese, what I could, out of the crepe and ate those bits and moved on... I am not saying I won't return - but I was so triggered by the texture of this... I mean you can see the photo for yourself... I may not be able to order another crepe anywhere again without seeing the finished product before ordering it. Gluten-free peeps beware.

Yelp
A very good "millennial-coded" place for brunch. We went here after church down the street and there was a wait (~20 minutes at 11:30am) but we waited inside hanging around their Christmas tree and it wasn't too bad. The server was attentive although they didn't come around too much so you might have to flag them down. They gave us water in little milk bottle pitchers and the orange juice was fresh squeezed and gold. Noise level was pretty loud but we could still hear each other across the table as a party of four.

Yelp
This was my second time at Rooster, but the first time for me at this location. It's pretty busy and we had a party of 6, so we got on the waitlist. At 11am, they seated us right away and the server was fantastic! She recommended the Sally Cinnamon, which was a great call. On this hot day, an ice latte was perfection. My wife has a gluten allergy, and they are extremely accommodating. The last time we went to the downtown location, we each got our own crepe and split another. I got mine with the regular non-GF, and there was honestly little difference between that and the GF crepe. This time, we both got GF crepes so that we could sample each others. The Nutella was excellent! Can't recommend that enough. I don't love goat cheese, but her GBLT was very good and the cheese held the crepe together nicely. I really liked the sausage in the mo. Made sausage crepe. Their AC was not working great, so it was a little hot in the back area that we were seated. The timing of items being served was also a little off. But besides that slight discomfort, we had a nice time. This location is very family friendly. They have a kids menu and there's even two family friendly restrooms. This was also my first time to Grand Avenue, which is very walkable with a lot of businesses and a couple of parks close by. Great area to spend time in if you're visiting St. Louis!

Yelp
This location is very spacious and welcoming with lots of natural light! We arrived around 9:30 AM, and the restaurant was pretty packed. However, for just the two of us, we were seated right away. Our server Ian was very friendly and attentive. I absolutely loved the fresh flowers at every table, and whoever selects the music that plays in the restaurant nailed it. Great vibes all around! After placing our order, the food was ready in no time at all. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Stuffed French Toast, and I was blown away! It was outstanding. I definitely prefer a sweet breakfast over savory, and this hit the spot. It was a very generous portion size. As much as I wanted to finish my whole plate, I was pretty stuffed. Everything about it was exceptionally delicious, from the sweet inside filling to the warm and smooth icing, and even the crunchy pieces on top. My partner ordered a scramble with bacon, goat cheese, red onion, arugula, tomato jam, pesto. He said that it was pretty good, but it would've been much easier to eat if it had been served in a bowl rather than a plate. He also mentioned that his meal was an interesting combination of flavors, but the jam really pulled the whole meal together. Overall, this is such a cute spot for breakfast or brunch with friends and family!

Yelp
Grabbed brunch here yesterday with a group of friends. We went early, due to history of wait times. We arrived and had a table right away. Choices from the menu for our table were: Scramble with chicken sausage, lemon curd crepe with blueberries, a la cart French toast, and a BELT on sourdough. My drink of choice was the Sally Cinnamon Latte (iced), and the hot version was also had at our table (highly recommend). All the food was fresh and made to order. The flavor was good and it reminded me why Rooster was one of my favorite spots when I lived in CWE. Service was great, we were not rushed through our meal, and when we were ready to go the process was quick and efficient. Stop in and check them out, two locations in the STL area. The eclectic menu will have something for everyone.

Yelp
This is a super hip place that really goes out on atmosphere. Alas, this means for the most uncomfortable seating possible. Also, the super long table for everyone to sit at is strange. It all felt a little... too hip. The food was ok. I had the vegan biscuits and gravy, which came with breakfast potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were fine, but they potatoes were inedible. I tried one and left the rest on my plate. I am not sure what the seasoning was, but it was unpleasant. I tried to cover it with ketchup, but their homemade ketchup was so vinegary that it made things even worse. Oops. That said, the matcha lemongrass drink I had was tops.

Yelp
Are you hungry? No, I mean are you really hungry? This is the question you need to ask yourself before you step foot in Rooster. I've been to the downtown restaurant and this location on south grand. I tend to go for the farmers breakfast but also like skillets and their French toast. All are very good. The portions are also gigantic. The stuffed French toast is half a loaf of bread and the rest are equally large. Each are about 1.5 meals. So be prepared to take a to go box.

Yelp
Got on waitlist via yelp but were told kitchen was closing soon when we arrived?! Got the strong impression staff didn't want to seat us at all. Place was a mess. Food scraps on table and floor all around us and felt very unwelcome by staff. Snotty staff wanting gratitude for doing their pricey restaurant jobs was the theme today. Waitress was polite. Food server handed food plates over our heads to us to serve our food. Didn't put it down on table in front of us. Just another weird instance . Food was way too salty/peppery. I've been coming here off and on for 15-20 years. Disappointing. The "magic" is gone for sure. Off for a while definitely. Do NOT recommend.
google avatar

Kacie S.

Yelp
The GBLT crepe is my absolute favorite! I come here just for that most of the time, the goat cheese with the crunch of the bacon hits every time! I love their patio seating because it's more spacious, the inside seating can be a bit close at times
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
Food was absolutely phenomenal. Burrito had great flavor and the scramble had a sweet spice. Don't even get me started on the amazing potatoes. The waitress was great. Joked around with her tables and made great suggestions to us.
google avatar

Yelp
Why in the world does this have a 3.6 rating?? Makes zero sense. This place is cool. Great vibe. Modern, eclectic feel and crowd. The food...OMG!! Had the BELT and it was freaking amazing!!! So big, said I'd eat 1/2...nope, had to have the whole thing!! Service wise, a bit understaffed...but just chill a bit, enjoy the vibe and when they get to you...top notch and the food is fast. Sooo...don't skip due to the 3.6 rating, get your butt in here, because this place rocks!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is high quality. The scrambler with andouille is phenomenal. Would recommend!

Yelp
The welding on the chairs is not smooth and will put small holes in your pants. I called to tell them that my nice pair of pants was damaged from their chairs. The woman I spoke to (who said she was a manager) had a kind tone and said that is something they have been working on for a while and would give the phone to the general manager to see what he said. The male general manager said that they have had those chairs for 10 (maybe 11) years and they have never had a problem with it before and couldn't do anything about it. I told him upfront I wasn't sure what I wanted to be done about it, but certainly wasn't expecting to be dismissed and gaslit by the general manager. The food was fine this time. It was not last time (they served what seemed to be day old biscuits that were dried out). Between the inconsisency with the food served and the chairs damaging my nice clothes, I'll be hard pressed to return.

Yelp
I came here with a group of four for my friend's 21st birthday brunch, and it was the perfect spot! We came a few Sundays ago and it was pretty busy, but we joined the waitlist online prior to coming so we did not have to wait there super long. Our drinks and food did not disappoint! Everyone in my group enjoyed our food. I personally got the farmer's platter, which comes with three eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and toast with jam. I only eat white meat, so I got the vegan sausage and subbed the bacon for an extra sausage patty. I got my eggs scrambled with cheese, which was perfect--granted, it's hard to mess up eggs. I'm usually not the biggest fan of spiced style breakfast potatoes, but I enjoyed theirs! They weren't too peppery or over-spiced. The vegan sausage was pretty good, not necessarily my favorite. It was a little dry and broke up easily. The sourdough was yummy and the homemade jam is my favorite! Since we were celebrating a 21st birthday, we got drinks as well! We started off with a Sunset Mimosa carafe, which had some raspberry flavor added to it. It was very pulpy at the top, but otherwise very tasty. We then got a carafe of the boozy lemonade, which I cannot speak highly enough of. It was refreshing and had a blueberry mint taste. If you visit and are getting a drink, get this! Overall, our service was excellent, partially due to our lovely server Eric. He was helpful when talking about the menu and made my friend's birthday extra special! For the quality and quantity of the food you get, I don't think Rooster is on the pricey side. Drinks are expensive anywhere and the boozy lemonade is especially worth a try!

Timira M.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times but this is my first time writing a review. What I love the most about this place is the service and how friendly the staff are. My apologies for the half-eaten pictures of my food. I ordered an egg scramble, biscuit, and jam, with sunset mimosas. They were all good and this is my first time having alcohol at this place. I would say the drink was mixed fairly well. I love their biscuits and jam. The scramble was great too and I love how they have more options than just pork. If you plan on going to bunch on a Sunday I would suggest getting on the waitlist. We waited for about twenty minutes after we were number 11 on the list. We put ourselves on before we even left the house. Until next time...
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best experience we had in St. Louis. The vibe was wonderful, our server was amazing, and the music was oldies so it was already a winner in our book. I wanted the Chocolate Bar Mocha, but they were unfortunately out of the ingredients to make it, so our server suggested the Sally Cinnamon and it was HEAVEN. I got a crepe and the husband got one of the scramblers, and there wasn't a crumb left. I wish we had this back home, but this will be a reason why we come back to St. Louis for sure!
google avatar

Noel F.

Yelp
Always love a Rooster brunch! The menu isn't huge, but they're very consistent. My friend swears by their Rooster slinger, but I'm a sucker for their biscuits and gravy. I also love I can get espresso drinks here.
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
great brunch spot! Since i have been vegetarian, this is the only place that i can find a good vegetarian friendly gravy. I LOVE the vegan slinger. It is so great after a night out lol There can definitely be a long wait, so plan for that. The service has always been amazing and everyone i bring here always leaves happy!
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
Our work team met here for breakfast. Ive always felt indifferent about Rooster's food. Again...they lived up to the disappointment. I ordered the ham scramble and substituted chicken sausage for ham. My meal came pretty quickly the swiss cheese was missing. The biscuit was cold. I sent it back to be reheated. They took my scramble back to add cheese. When it returned the ONLY thing hot was the eggs. The cheese sat on TOP of the eggs. Who enjoys less than room temperature food? Almost everyone at the table complained that their food wasn't hot. How is this ok for an establishment? The waitress commented that their biscuits aren't kept warm. This is my FINAL time eating here. I am ALWAYS disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Rooster is a really cool atmosphere for brunch, if you haven't tried it! Communal seating, great decor, and friendly staff. Due to the nature of the restaurant, I do feel like it can be a little difficult to get a server's attention, but they mostly make up for it with friendly service. I had a nutella crepe, and was grateful to be able to customize it a little bit by leaving the bananas off. It was delicious, and I would definitely get it again. I also got a side of the potatoes, but they were just okay. Nothing special, and we weren't able to track down a server for ketchup, so that didn't help. Husband got the grilled cheese which was a show-stopper. Truly fantastic. All in all, a great brunch spot. It had been a while since our last visit but it was as good as we remembered.
google avatar

Miranda Z.

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a crepe on a Sunday morning. I prefer savory so I went with the GBLT. Happy surprise: they do not skimp on the goat cheese. It was so delicious and I will definitely include this in my rotation. My partner got the pork slinger. He fully intended to stop after half but it was so good he finished the whole thing. We got the donut holes but were too full so we took them home. I'm looking forward to them for dessert! We also had some house Bloody Mary's, a Tipsy Nonnie, and a Pink Paloma. All were tasty. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. She chatted with us for a while and got us some to-go cups for our sauces. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Daryl S.

Yelp
I used to eat a Rooster downtown a lot because I worked across the street, but it was kind of a neutral place. Rooster on South Grand is a completely different story! I love that there's parking for free in the back and there's plenty of seating inside. Sometimes it can be a bit weird to be right next to another part as the chairs are close together, but if you go early you won't have to worry about that. Rooster is accommodating for food issues and they even have gluten free and vegan crepes for no extra charge! I haven't tried those yet because I really like their scrambles, but maybe next time I can get someone to split a crepe. Their scrambles are super filling and come with a lot of food - eggs, potatoes, and whatever toppings you choose. I switch between the chicken sausage scramble or the vegetarian one. Both are so good!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I haven't had a single thing on the menu that I haven't enjoyed! The service is usually good. I will say that the gravy is excellent but tends to upset stomachs. Just a word of caution. lol
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
Looooove all of the scrambles. They have great flavor and are a good portion size. Highly recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Hattie S.

Yelp
This place was so open and bright, and a beautiful fun spot for brunch! They have decently priced mimosa carafes for such occasions ;) The star of the show for me was the pancakes! They are fluffy and perfect for sharing. I hardly ever let myself indulge in a plate of flapjacks, and I'm an soooo happy I decided to treat myself at Rooster! Truly delicious. Eggs-cellent scrambles and breakfast plates! Kind staff! Multiple restrooms
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
I must have caught them on a bad day because the service was terrible (waitress was VERY rude), my food's portion size was lackluster but my friends was very good so just depends on what you order. Ambiance was cute but not a Starbucks/work type place. The seats are very close to each other, very easy to make friends next to you.

Vincent H.

Yelp
A pretentious omelet? Tough steam table bacon, a tomato jam that was sweeter than catsup, "roasted" potatoes that were deep-fried and left in a steam table until soggy. Tbe bartender was nice and professional.
google avatar

CheriAnn P.

Yelp
After waiting 30 minutes plus to be seated, we (party of 3) placed our order and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and then another 30 minutes before we received our orders . I received the wrong order and I had to wait another 20 minutes before I got my corrected order. My companions were finished eating. The table next to us were seated after us and received their food at the same time we got our drinks. The bacon and sausage were over cooked. We're from out of town and heard good things about Rooster and were greatly disappointed.

Yelp
Rooster has some unique offerings that tantalize the tastebuds. However, this was my third visit, and there are some challenges they need to overcome to make the dining experience a positive for their guests. When you enter, you will see three dining segments. The first two are long tables that run from the front of the restaurant to the back. The third is composed of individual tables along the wall. The seething at the first long table is regular chairs. The second table is positioned higher, requiring taller chairs that do have a back, but are flimsy. A diner can lean against the back of the chair and the back will bend. This creates a sensation of always needing to be on guard to keep one's balance. The row along the wall has hard wood seeking on the wall side, with a small step up and those higher backed chairs again. There is outside seating available. The coffee was a dry roast with full flavor, which was delightful to start my day with. The food itself was fresh and flavorful. However, there seems to be a problem with getting the items to those at the tables hot off the grill. The food was only slightly only slightly warm upon arriving at our table. My companion ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg over medium. When the egg arrived, it was undercooked so that both the egg and egg white were runny and it unexpected spilled onto his pants. There is parking in back on a paved lot, which is a positive as street parking on Grand can often be rough to find. They appeared to be fully staffed in front, which was a nice change from many places now.

Yelp
We arrived on a Sunday late morning for brunch. Wait time was an hour plus, which wasn't unexpected. They did have a covered patio area where they sent us to wait. Communal seating in the restaurant, which seemed to cause a longer wait since we had a larger party. Once we were seated for brunch, service was good. I ordered the Farmer's Platter with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and potatoes, and my husband ordered pancakes. Trendy space. Food was fresh.
google avatar

Isabel M.

Yelp
I went here for brunch today around 11. It was busy, there was a half hour wait with seats outside to wait. If it was cold, the wait would've been worse (not much space indoors to wait), but the tables moved quickly. I wish that they took reservations, or even that we could call ahead, as we planned days earlier to come here. I had never been to Rooster, so I was surprised that many of the seats are one long table where multiple groups sit. Our server was great. He checked on us enough that I never felt like we had to wait too long to request anything, but was not overbearing. He also answered all of our questions about substitutions and the menu in general. I ordered the breakfast burger, but replaced the sausage with bacon. The sandwich was great, it had a slightly spicy (chipotle-esque) sauce on it that I did not anticipate, but enjoyed. One downside is that the potatoes on the side were room temperature-cold. I also prefer potatoes with ketchup and their ketchup is thick (not my preference).
google avatar

Prathika A.

Yelp
We have been to Rooster a couple of times and the food has been very consistent. This place gets packed but they are good about the quick turnaround. If you are here for the weekend brunch, expect a wait. They offer a wide variety of breakfast options from sandwich, scrambles to crepes. We tried the rooster slinger and the mo made sausage. Both of them were delicious! They have cocktails and speciality drinks. We tried the sunset mimosa and the house bloody. Both the drinks were well made. You can get a carafe of their mimosas for $28. The service was prompt.

Yelp
Best French toast in town!! Great brunch drinks too! One of my fave brunch spots. I prefer just sitting at the bar for brunch.

Kelsi B.

Yelp
The food was good. The cinnamon roll french toast was delicious. The original pancake lacks flavor. The berries, and cream french toast was delicious . The fruit was fresh. The potatoes were extremely greasy but full of flavor. The sausage was good. The service was great. Received our food in less than 20 minutes.

Yelp
10/10 - food. Everything was flavorful, well cooked, just a really great brunch. Enjoyed it a lot. But probably because we were starving by the time food arrived. 2/10 - wait time from ordering to receiving food. I understand it is all cooked from scratch, local ingredients, blah blah blah. It was not overly busy, so 50mins wait for eggs and pancakes was just excessive. Probably will choose a different restaurant for breakfast next time we are in St Louis.

Yelp
I just love this spot so much! I came in for the second time over the 4th of July holiday and wasn't disappointed. Thankfully there wasn't a wait but I know it can get busy so definitely check the waitlist! We sat inside and it was nice and chill and our waiter was absolutely amazing. I went with the breakfast sandwich and speciality latte and my friend had the biscuit sandwich and we were extremely happy with all our choices. There's plenty of parking nearby, as well, which always makes me even happier when I find an awesome spot. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The food is ok. Nothing stands out. This is the 3rd time I've dined here and I am not impressed. First Watch is much better. Today I tried the breakfast burrito and I was underwhelmed. The chicken sausage was tough and lacked flavor. The eggs were not seasoned one bit. And the black beans were flavorless. You could tell they just threw them in there straight from the can without having them marinate with any flavors. The burrito relied on the salsa verde for any depth and to be honest the salsa tasted straight from a can. Not homemade at all! I sat at the bar and the young man serving was great and attentive but the kitchen was very slow. I tried to give Rooster another shot and they failed. Save your money and go to First Watch.

Yelp
Update: My boyfriend was obsessed with this place. He got the Breakfast Sandwich and got the house ketchup - it's top tier. My Ham and Jam Biscuit Sandwich was enough for breakfast the next day. Very balance meal of savory and sweet. I'm not impressed by the Breakfast potatoes. They weren't very salty or crispy, so definitely a bummer and I wouldn't recommend paying extra for them as a side. Our server though was the kindest man. He was prompt, welcoming, and sincere. When refilling our coffee, he accidentally got a drop on my shoe and made sure to politely tell me. Seriously a kind soul who was doing his best, we greatly appreciated him.

Yelp
Horrible service. We waited for almost 20 minutes and couldn't get anybody to wait on us. No one even took a drink order. We finally flagged someone down then 3 people argued it wasn't their table. When we tried to order drinks the waitress was confused and left to ask the bartender questions. We tried to order food. She left again. After all that they were out of the food we had asked about. Unforgivable. People kept walking by and ignoring us. Won't go back

Yelp
I'm a huge pancake lover, a pancake aficionado if you will & I judge every breakfast an establishment serves by their pancakes. If you can't make good pancakes then I consider the rest of your breakfast to be subpar or worse as well. These pancakes were great, the orange juice was great, the service was great, and the food hall style was...interesting. It's kind of a new concept in STL and it takes some getting used to but it was fine. When I return to STL, I'd probably choose this place again to eat. There's usually a wait though so be prepared.
