Best Restaurants in Mobile, Alabama | Eater Atlanta

"A Debris po’boy is about as close to New Orleans as you can get without leaving Alabama. The rustic sandwich shop starts with baguettes delivered fresh from legendary NOLA bakery Leidenheimer that are sliced and stuffed with gulf-caught seafood or rich roasted meats and a collection of classic condiments: mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Among the more unusual (but no less popular) sandwiches is the Thanksgiving Everyday po’boy packed with house-roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Pair your po’boy with a Southern-inspired cocktail (bananas foster old-fashioned, anyone?) or a selection from the extensive beer list." - Sarah Bisacca

Downtown’s po‑boy specialist builds Leidenheimer‑bread sandwiches with Gulf fixings and a fun bar program. Mobile Bay Magazine called out the namesake debris po‑boy; expect a festive crowd on parade nights and during big games.

A local recommended this place to us. After a struggle to find paid street parking, we walked over to the nearly empty tavern and were seated immediately. My son and I had a cup of average gumbo for an appetizer. The hurricane drinks were good but mild. My meatball sub was good, along with his boudin ball po boy. Neither knocked it out of the park. High-top, patio, and full bar seating. Excellent service. Clean. 3.5 % card usage fee.

Great place for a great po-boy!!! The po-boys are fantastic as are the bowls!!! The cheese grits with greens and your choice of protein is also great!!! Atmosphere is really cool as well! This is one of our ‘go to’ places for lunch in downtown Mobile. It’s quick and very filling!!! Regardless of what you order, you will not leave hungry!!!

This place is awesome! The building is very cool, and the atmosphere is great. Our waiter, Zach, was friendly and attentive. The po-boys are delicious! Three people in my party had them and all of them said how delicious they are. I had the blackened shrimp and grits and both were perfection. The price is an excellent value for the quality and quantity of food. Will definitely visit again!

Finally got to try this place and tried the fried soft shell crab po-boy and it did not disappoint two decent sized fried crabs and a nice remoulade sauce to match. It was indeed tasty. Highly recommend it. The potato salad as a side was really good as well.

Had a great lunch there. Sat at the bar as I was alone that day. Bar staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the foods. My fresh fish bowl was very tasty. Fun atmosphere. Have eaten there a couple of other times on different occasions and always been pleased with my food.

My gosh, if I could give them a 10 star review I would! The food was amaze balls! The crawfish pistolette and shaved ribeye poboy to die for. The bartenders super duper nice and attentive. And don't even get me started on the pen with a koala bear on it, so CUTE! We got our food to go and already want to go back for seconds! Didn't even get a chance to take a picture, it was gone in a flash, it was that spectacular!

Thumbs up to this little bar and sandwich shop. The boudin balls were great as the outside was crisp and inside perfectly filled with pure flavor. The sauces that compliment the balls were terrific as well. And the Po-Boys, also excellent. The bread is spot on perfect. The grilled blackened shrimp Po-Boy was Eeyore's favorite sandwich as it was light and full of flavor. The debris was much heavier experience, yet still an excellent on for those who love something much beefier, literally. Overall, a great little place.
