This was the nicest hotel I've ever had the pleasure of being a guest at. It has been renovated since my previous stay there 14 years ago and the renovations are fantastic. The rooms are clean, spacious and very luxurious. The service here from the bell hops, front desk to the housekeeping was absolutely phenomenal. Future San Antonio trips will definitely be at the St Anthony. The location is great as well. Within walking distance of River Walk and the Alamo. Also located right across from Travis Park that hosts a Christmas Tree lighting event every year the day after Thanksgiving. That was cool to be a part of! I really enjoyed the library lounge here and would keep that in mind to do any work as it's nice and quiet. Also a balcony wraps around the library and it would be nice to enjoy a cop of coffee out there in the mornings. Overall, such a fabulous stay. My daughter and wife were in love with this hotel and I got some major dad points in deciding to book this hotel.

Staying at this hotel was the best I’ve ever had. The moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The room was great—clean, comfy, and nicely put together. The food was really good too. Everything tasted great and the portions were just right. The next day, (we had a late check out as a benefit for our platinum amex), the staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out smooth. It is a bit pricey, but I think it was worth it, especially if you want to wander downtown. The pool was a nice surprise—clean and warm, even in late November. We’re already talking about coming back in the summer. This wasn’t just a stay; it felt like a small win, and I’d love to do it again.

Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed overall in my experience at this hotel. First, the location is good and convenient. It's nothing glamorous, however, as there's quite a colorful crowd that hangs out at the park and on the church steps across the street. But nothing that you wouldn't expect in a touristy city center area such as this. Second, the interior of the hotel is gorgeous and was decorated wonderfully for Christmas. Also, the valet was quick and efficient, although I feel like the price is a bit expensive considering they park the vehicles in a surface lot and not a covered garage. The pool area is pretty nice as well and has a decent amount of seating/lounges. Now for the drawbacks. I used my NUAs and received an upgrade to a very large suite. The bathroom was the highlight, but nothing else wowed me. The location and view from the room did not reflect "suite" level status. I would have been very upset if I had paid full price for this suite. The location on the 4th (455) floor felt like a dungeon given the lack of windows and natural light. The two windows in the bedroom were mostly blocked by the dresser and TV, and there was only 1 small window in the living/dining area. The unfortunate location of the room had these small windows looking out toward other walls of the hotel, which did not help with lighting. Also the A/C in the bedroom was not cooling as much as the one in the living area. I reported it to the front desk the next morning, but I dont think anything was ever done. As far as breakfast, make sure you aren't in a hurry if dining at The Gallery. I received the platnium member breakfast credit for use in The Gallery. I wasn't advised by the check in staff to make a reservation (I suggest making one unless you're going to eat early) so when I went the first morning, I had to wait 30+min for a table for 1. I then realized that the in room dining breakfast menu is the same menu as The Gallery, and after inquiring with the front desk, I was told I could use my breakfast credit for room service breakfast also. That would have been nice to inform me of at check in. I decided to order in room breakfast the 2nd morning to avoid a wait in the dining room. However, once again, despite placing my order on my door the night before and selecting a 915-930am delivery windows, my breakfast didnt arrive until 1015am. I was also disappointed to find the cinnamon roll was quite burnt. None of the breakfast items I tried from The Gallery were anything special, so I would suggest dining at Anacacho or off property if you dont have a breakfast credit to use. Despite asking about how the breakfast credit worked once and verifying it again, it was not reflected on my hotel bill at checkout, so I had to call and have it adjusted. Make sure to double check your bill. Finally, its worth noting the St. Anthony club is pretty cool and definitely go check out the epicurean moment each day!

I would actually give this hotel 4.5 stars. The hotel is very nice. The lobby is beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and quick to meet your needs. There is someone at all times to help you with your luggage and open the front doors when you go in or out of the hotel. It is a short walk to the Riverwalk, however it is a longer walk on the Riverwalk before you reach the majority of shops and restaurants. The room was clean, and that is very important to me. The shower is very large which was lovely. The negatives in my opinion were: |The electrical is a bit wonky because the lights flickered a bit. We had an hard time dimming the lights in the bathroom and since the bathroom door is opaque glass, if someone used the bathroom and turned on the bathroom light in the middle of the night, it lit the sleeping area. Except for two small hooks placed very close together, in the very large bathroom, there was no place to hang the bath towels. There was no mini fridge in the room. (We tend to buy yogurts for breakfast and put them in the little refrigerators. We did compensate for that by putting the yogurts in the ice bucket and covering them with ice!)|We did enjoy our stay here and would stay here again.

⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Stay at The St. Anthony – A Birthday to Remember! Our one-night stay at The St. Anthony in San Antonio was absolutely spectacular! It was a last-minute trip to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and as a longtime Marriott member, I have never felt more special. From the moment we checked in, the experience was exceptional. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the hotel drew us in with its perfect blend of historic charm and chic, posh elegance. I had requested a room near my cousin’s suite, but to our surprise, we were upgraded to a beautiful corner suite overlooking the park—a wonderful and unexpected treat! The St. Anthony Bar service was truly top-notch. We headed out to enjoy the Pearl Brewery area and when we returned to our suite, we found a rich slice of chocolate cake and a thoughtful note from the staff—a classy, heartfelt gesture that made the night even more special. Having stayed at many Marriott partner hotels and Hyatts downtown, I can honestly say that the personalized, boutique-style service at The St. Anthony stands out above the rest. Every detail made us feel valued and celebrated. Thank you, thank you, thank you to The St. Anthony team for making our stay so memorable. We will absolutely be back!

I had very high hopes for this hotel. My girlfriend and I booked this for a night in downtown San Antonio. Check in was easy- I did the mobile key on the app. The first thing I noticed in the room was that there was tons of trash stuffed in the corner. There was a speeding ticket from OCTOBER in that pile. Second thing I noticed was the tape with paint on it lining along the corner of the ceiling. Gave the look of a unit under construction. There was also no can liners for any of our trash cans. I went to the front desk to let them know about the mess, need for trash liners, etc. They jotted it down and let me know somebody would be stopping by. With it being 80 degrees, we planned to go to the pool anyway, so perfect. We even called in advance to make sure the pool was open, and we were told it was. We get to the pool, and the pool heater isn’t working. Ice cold. Unfortunate, but we make the most of it. I’m not a fan of cold plunges though, so I just sit in the chairs. We get back to the room, change, and go out. After a night out, we walk back, and everything is still the same. By this point, I’m tired and just want to go to bed. Overall this experience was disappointing. This is marketed as luxury, one of the main amenities we booked for wasn’t working, and we felt like the basic request we had to cleanliness was ignored. It would be hard for me to return here off of this experience alone.

Beautiful old grand hotel. My kind of place. Our room showed a bit of age, but the common areas are magnificient, especially decorated for Christmas. As much as I loved everything about this hotel, the staff and personal service was actually over the top. The concierge, the front desk staff, servers in the restaurant, even housekeeping were excellent, but special mention must be made of the bell staff, especially Mt. Johnny Mermeia. I syupidly left some business papers at the bell stand. Mr. Mermeia literally got in his car to drive the papers to the San Antonio Airport to hand them to me. This is an absolute first in my experience and I will never forget it.

Le Petit was such a unique and entertaining experience! The interactive element of the evening was unlike anything I've experienced before and truly made for a memorable night. The show was captivating, and it's clear a lot of effort went into creating such a creative and engaging atmosphere. The service was impeccable. The waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. However, the food was a bit of a letdown, as most of it arrived cold, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality ambiance. Overall, if you're looking for an unforgettable night out with top-notch service, Le Petit is worth a visit. With a little improvement on the food temperature, this place would easily earn a perfect score!

Disappointing Stay - Far from Luxury Our recent stay at The St. Anthony Hotel was a major disappointment. While the hotel itself is aesthetically beautiful, the experience was anything but luxurious. First, from our $400/night, two room suite,we were subjected to blaring bar music until 2:30 AM one night, making it impossible to sleep. The noise level was unacceptable for a hotel that brands itself as a high-end property. Then, after switching rooms the following day to try and escape the noise, we encountered a clogged toilet and dirty floors in our new room--something you'd expect at a budget motel, not a so-called luxury hotel. The worst part of our stay was the complete lack of security and guest care. On our final night, we returned from an event and were confronted by a group of intoxicated individuals right outside the hotel entrance. My wife was yelled at, and not a single staff member stepped in or even checked if we were okay. This was completely unacceptable and made us feel unsafe. Beyond the hotel itself, the surrounding area leaves much to be desired. The park across the street has homeless individuals, and the overwhelming smell of horse manure (used to deter the homeless- which is incredibly cruel) greets you upon arrival. The surrounding streets also have a noticeable number of transient individuals wandering around, which doesn't contribute to a feeling of security. For a property that claims to be part of the Luxury Collection, this experience was anything but. Between the noise, poor cleanliness, lack of security, and overall neglect for guest well-being, we cannot recommend staying here. There are far better options in San Antonio for the same price--or less. I have complained to Bonvoy and it has been escalated to the hotel management. Let's see if they address my concerns, as I have asked for a complete refund.

We visited for our Anniversary. Mario made it a very memorable stay. Sadly our room was near the park so we heard loud music from a festival across the street. I am not sure if the hotel can help with the noise in the future.

Maybe not the cleanest room but it was beautiful. The hotel had an old classical look. Chandeliers everywhere... looked like it could be haunted haha. The room itself huge. Biggest room I've ever had for standard hotel room. Bathroom was also huge for a standard hotel room. Everything there just showed luxury but it was really dusty everywhere. U see the bed, if you looked closely at the side tables and desks and what not... dust everywhere. To make things worse.. there was one night where sirens went off around 10-11 pm saying an emergency has been identified and to make our way downstairs. All guests started walking down the stairwell and the guests that made it to the bottom floor started heading back up and telling us it was a false alarm. A lot of us were sleeping when this happened and we got no apology or anything by the staff. I even called the front desk personally just to confirm that it was in fact a false alarm. They confirmed it but no apology. It is a beautiful hotel and it's obviously historic but there were too much issues for me to give it 5 stars.

This was our 2nd stay at the St. Anthony & have decided it's our hotel when we're in San Antonio! It's a beautiful historic hotel with a gorgeous lobby, fabulous rooftop pool, & clean, comfortable rooms, especially the beds & bedding. About a five minute walk from the Alamo, but away from the street noise of some of the other hotels down there. There's a very cozy bar which is great and also an upscale restaurant which we haven't had the chance to try, but it smelled delicious as we walked by the entrance. As we were in for a bd celebration, we splurged a bit & got a corner room suite. We were able to host friends for drinks in the spacious living area. Everyone loved our room & enjoyed the great views of the city from multiple points. I especially loved the big spa-like bathtub! Can't wait to return!

This hotel is old-fashioned in both the best and worst senses. It offers old-school grandeur and courtesy. However, it's sorely in need of modernization. There are definitely some pluses. The public areas are opulent, with lots of marble, chandeliers, and cushy furniture. It's located just a hop, skip, and jump from the Alamo. And every staff member, without exception, bent over backwards to be warm, welcoming, and helpful. Ah, but then there are the minuses. There are three main elevators, but two of them were out of service. This made for some very long waits. It was hardest on the hotel staff, such as housekeepers and bellmen who couldn't get their carts in because the elevator was already full. (There was another working elevator at the back entrance, but this wasn't obvious if you came in through the main entrance.) Sometimes lights in my room went on and off on their own. I don't think this was an electrical fault; I think it was an automated process aimed at keeping the room brightly lit at certain times, such as when guests first arrive, while saving money on electricity at other times. But I don't really know. There was no place to plug in my computer. There were only four outlets by the desk, and all of them were in use, for the lamp the coffeemaker, etc. (See photo.) I did manage to plug in my computer by unplugging the coffee maker. I asked them to send up a power strip, and they did, but it had only two-pronged outlets, not the three-pronged ones you need for a computer. The shower had both an showerhead and a hand shower wand. There was a switch you push in to go from showerhead to shower wand. However, to go back to showerhead, you have to turn the water off! That's the only way to make the switch pop back out; trying to pull it out does nothing. Then you have to turn the water back on and hope you can find the right temperature again. There was a TV in my room but no remote control for the TV. I had to call down to get one. A beautiful large window in the entryway, which had a nice view, was covered by a shade that couldn't be raised or lowered. That left the entryway very dark. (See photo.)

I love the st Anthony -always have - it's absolutely fabulous in every way! Def 5 star. This review tho is for the valet for Juan and Manny and the whole team for incredible service always! And this trip Manny hooked us up/ we could not find our car key tho we knew it was in the car because it was starting. We looked everywhere and could not find it before arriving at the hotel for the weekend... but Manny or one of his team found it!!!!! So so grateful!!! Thanks St Anthony for all the fabulous service! Also the breakfast both days this weekend were DELICIOUS!!!!

Had a nice stay at this centrally located older hotel property in downtown SA. It's about a two block walk to the historic RiverWalk and Alamo. Directly across from a park. Note you're smack in the middle of downtown so throughout the area you'll experience transient people. The front desk and bell staff members are very friendly and welcoming as well as helpful. The property itself is older as mentioned therefore you'll experience slower elevators however the room itself is updated nicely complete with plenty of reachable working outlets, modern bathroom and fixtures, good WiFi and fast responsive TV with Netflix thankfully. AC was excellent and the rooms were very quiet from street or adjacent rooms. Furnishings could use some deep cleaning especially my couch which had random deep stains and a worn in look. Breakfast was OK at best. High prices for mediocre food although service was fast once you got in.

Buckle up, for your 4 star hotel, you will be disappointed. Every human interaction was awful, only thing nice about the hotel is the design and location. Room: Other than it being beautiful, don't look too close at the rooms. Fingernails on the floor, mystery stains on EVERY chair. Missing handles on door. No way to close off the living room from the suite area. Window was broken so the room was hot. Service: HORRIBLE. Gentleman was snappy and rude on the phone when inquiring about checking in early. Then when we called about our bill another gentleman said he would send a new portfolio and hung up. No good bye, no sorry for the confusion, no pleasantries! My husband wasn't raising his voice or even escalating the conversation; just pointing out an error. Rebelle: There was no one in the restaurant and they said "they were fully booked" but we could sit at the bar. So we did. Bartender was pompous and short, seems to be the theme for employee's personalities. Food was subpar for being so expensive and small portions. Might as well go to a chain restaurant. We left after being there an hour and it was still mostly empty. Gallery on the Garden: unclear how you ruin avocado toast or biscuits and gravy.. but alas.. the avocado, you only tasted the lemon, and my husband's biscuits and gravy was swimming in grease. Same sentiment from Rebelle with reservations for Sunday breakfast. No one was there. Came back down an hour later to go to the river walk, guess what, no one was there. Called the valet to get our car to leave, my husband went to retrieve it, no one would talk to him! Couldn't even tip there was no human interaction to do so! Going to reiterate for management; your employees are awful. You either need to train your employees what it takes to work in hospitality... Or take an internal look at why your employees are sour. Either way, something has to change.

I stayed here during San Antonio Jazz Fest so it was a grand time and it was nice being right across the street from Travis Park. This hotel is a historic building built in 1909 so it has design elements from that period which makes it unique. We got a room On the 3rd floor that overlooks the park. The rooms were spacious and the bedding was comfortable. The shower had just enough pressure and I liked that the toilet had its own screening to keep it separate from the rest of the bathroom. The hotel also has a great pool that has a great view of the city. We spent time sitting by the pool people watching and enjoying poolside drinks. The hotel also has a killer restaurant and a couple of bars. Parking is through valet and it's comparable to other hotels. As for location, a short walk to the river walk and many of the attractions downtown.

My husband and I love this hotel! The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make us feel at home. The entire hotel is stunning! Beautiful furniture and stunning chandeliers. The rooms are classy and comfortable. We love the pool, the Rebelle (restaurant on-site), and the mezzanine is fun to visit with friends.

I stayed here for a business trip in San Antonio. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained and has gorgeous vintage decor. It's very clean and I found the staff to be extremely professional. Outside of the decor, my favorite part was the bar/lounge. Jorge was my server several times and not only is he very friendly and good at his job, but he even remembered my name and what I had ordered the previous time I was there. I find this level of customer service to be very rare these days and absolutely plan to be back.

My go to hotel when visiting San Antonio. I am a huge fan of the décor and who doesn't love chandeliers?!? The staff is always very welcoming and professional. Price range is anywhere from $300-$450/night. With the hotel being in downtown SA, valet is essentially required ($50/night) as there isn't any parking outside of metered street parking. The gym has complimentary water bottles and towels offered equipped with just about everything needed to get a quick on the go workout in. They used to have complimentary coffee early mornings in the lobby pre-Covid which was nice.. hopefully it comes back one day soon. The pool is a nice lounging pool with views of downtown buildings and a full bar on deck. I always enjoy my stays in San Antonio at the St. Anthony. I am looking forward to my next return.

I really have to stop writing reviews before I finish my stay. The St Anthony does a ton right, from beautiful, extremely comfortable rooms to excellent elite recognition and a beautiful, historic property. Staff are quite friendly but completely inept. To take just one example, "leave some water at the door because I am on a phone call" turned into banging on the door and calling the room for me to open it (while I was trying to conduct said phone call). That, stained sheets, and NUMEROUS other major misses on fixing problems mean I will never return to this really cool, old school historic hotel. It's probably the worst luxury stay I have experienced in years.

From the moment we checked in (Ray, I believe was who checked us in and he was excellent!), we were in awe from the beauty and historic décor of the St Anthony! This is truly a beautiful property that is kept in excellent condition. There were so many staff we saw throughout our stay taking care of patrons staying here, dining here, and having conferences here. Our room, a Superior Suite was outstanding! It offers a large living room with a dining area too and a powder room just off the foyer. The TV in the living room has a Bose audio system with subwoofer and it's a large TV, but the TV in the bedroom is small, which doesn't make much sense. The lighting is all controlled via a couple of switches, one in the bedroom and one in the foyer. There are also individual lighting switches throughout, but it's nice to have the ability to control rooms/scenes too. Furniture in the living room is very comfy and the couch pulls out into a bed. The bedroom has a very comfy, king size bed with the full bath off the bedroom. The bathroom is large with a huge shower that can definitely fit more than one at a time! There's a large counter with double sinks and then a doored water closet off the side of the bathroom. There's even a night light feature in the bathroom to help you see in there at night without having to turn on the main lights. The shower area was in need of some scrubbing though, as I saw that black mold that is common in hotels that don't pay attention to detail in the crevices of the shower area. Surprisingly, the towels weren't higher quality, like you'd get at the Ritz or Renaissance, which I would expect at this collection of hotel. But the hot water was outstanding and scolding hot! The hotel offers at least three bars, one is called the Haunt and it's reminiscent of a speakeasy. The bar in the Rebel restaurant has happy hour from 5PM to 6:30PM. If you're into live, jazz (early jazz style) and swing you NEED to go on a Tuesday night!! They have a nice, 6-piece band playing incredible music and there are many who are into swing dancing that are dancing all throughout the lobby seating area, definitely a fun, energetic time!! They do this every Tuesday from 7PM to 10PM. The valet were great! Always quick to get our car and very helpful and friendly and you can tip them via a QR code, in case you don't have ca$h! Overall, this was an outstanding stay! We'll definitely be back!!

I love almost everything about this hotel. As a KY native I love how it has adopted the KY derby as a reason to party. I love how it is kitschy in its adoption of the roaring 20s on Tuesday nights. Brilliant. I love the speakeasy bar and the other modern bar. I love how attentive the service is and quite frankly how gorgeous and happy they seem to be. Even the valets are smiling. This is truly a flagship hotel. However, Im not a fan of the European shower and little issues with the room. The AC vent above my head while sleeping was the bane to a good night sleep. My choices were to either turn if off and sweat or hide under the massive duvet. Also, could it hurt to get a trash can into the bathroom? Make those two corrections and its a five star stay. Spent four nights in early May 2022

Stayed here over New Year's Eve weekend as I have to work new years and didn't want to drive home early in the morning The toon, a king, was impeccable but starting to show its age. Maybe it's the holiday weekend but maintenance was not available to fix a spotty lamp. Additional the sun shade on one of two windows was gone. You kinda expect more from a luxury hotel. Everything else from bathrobes to bed to responsive staff was top notch. Definitely recommended

Rethink booking here. Parking is valet only +$60, there is NO shade options at the pool, the elevators are 2 for the entire hotel (one always broken), not even a cold breakfast or coffee option, shower is like someone is peeing on you. Bad hotel for the price. Will not be back

You may find it odd that I gave the hotel only 3 stars and yet I say I love it. I do love the St. Anthony. It is elegant and beautiful and smells wonderful. The beds are soooo comfortable. And before, I had some nitpicky issues, but this time, the issues were more major. (Don't worry -- I'll fill you in on the nitpicky issues as well.) But first of all... only ONE elevator was working! So, with an 11 am checkout, we couldn't get a bellhop up to take our luggage. Luckily, we were only there one night so minimal luggage and we were able to manage with it ourselves. After waiting... and waiting.... on an elevator, my husband decided to walk down the stairs -- with luggage. I waited and finally got an elevator with one space left. One elevator for the whole hotel? Fix the damned elevators! Good grief. The next major issues: getting our car. We waited outside for 35 minutes before our car arrived. Ridiculous. Small things (but still bothersome): Lumpy pillows. Skimpy tissues (Puffs/Kleenex) The walk-in showers are cold and drafty Hooks for towels/robe/etc are practically in the shower, so items must be removed No refrigerator I'd stay there again (gladly) but first I'd ask how many elevators are working.

This is my favorite San Antonio hotel! The space is lavishly decorated, and staffed with amazing people. They are extremely accommodating. We recently enjoyed a summer weekend here, it was the best. The location is perfect for us. It has the Alamo to the South, and Pearl District to the North. Everything is walking distance, so another major plus.

Stayed at St Anthony over Labor Day weekend. Platinum elite with BonVoy. Hotel is very old and not in a good way. Breakfast in hotel requires reservation so not assured a spot to eat in hotel. Valet is $60 a night and non-valet is $60. Homeless population in park across from hotel. Spent $1200 for 3 nights, I honestly think courtyard would have been better. On positive note, roof top pool great but a bit on wild side. Food was very tasty. Bar was dark and ugly but bartender Frankie was good guy. Just not a spot I would ever go again. Better options in the area. Great restaurant La Pandaria for breakfast, outstanding! I guess that was blessing from no table for breakfast!

Coming to the pool makes you feel like you're on a trip and relaxing with great weather, a nice pool, great food & drinks, and an awesome DJ spinning records! I love how they offer the Resort Pass so that I can come and take advantage of the pool and feel elite for a day. It's perfect when you work from home and just need to get out of the house!

Our stay here was absolutely fantastic. The hotel was built in 1909, which was just part of its charm. The location was perfect for where we were going. Our room was ready at 1 pm, and the front desk staff were friendly and informative. Plus we were informed that our room had been upgraded. The Rebelle restaurant was where I had my birthday dinner, and it was absolutely perfect. We went both days to the pool bar and it was a fantastic time. Great drinks, staff and people watching. Way beyond my expectations even for a luxury hotel. I want to live in this hotel room. Everything is perfect, convenient, comfortable and gorgeous. The staff is beyond helpful and nice, the restaurants and bar are some of the best in all of San Antonio. I don't ever want to leave, it's my new favorite hotel anywhere. Update: We left the St Anthony for La Cantera today for the second part of our trip and I really wish we hadn't... La Cantera is nowhere near the caliber of The St Anthony. I'm actually sad we didn't stay at the St Anthony for the entire trip. I honestly hope I'm not ruined on all hotels now after that perfect stay!

We visited the lobby for drinks and the jazz on a Tuesday. The $20 old fashioneds were pretty good, for a thimbleful of a drink. They came with a very nice cherry, but no way to get it out of the glass(no toothpick). The sandwiches very very, very messy, but they came without napkins or forks, etc. the charcuterie plate also had no silverware, no napkins. Service was simply terrible.

Completely disappointed. We were excited and so looking forward to our stay here on Easter weekend. What we got was the worst hotel experience we have EVER had. First, we arrive at 4:05 because check-in is at 4 pm. We were told our room is not ready with no eta. So we sat and waited and waited until 4:50 pm. Still not ready at this point, but we did get a call from them offering to comp our valet charge. It was a small consolation but we accepted. Our room wasn't ready until 5 pm. Exhausted from our road trip in to San Antonio, we dragged our luggage in to the elevator to rest in our room before dinner. As soon as the elevator opened, the sewer stench slapped our faces. Holy cow it stunk so bad. We thought it might just be in the hallway so we quickly made our way into our tiny room. Yes. Tiny. The only good thing about the room was the huge shower. We could still smell that God-awful odor but because we were so tired, we chose to ignore it for a couple of hours before we headed down to the Riverwalk for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and walked back to our room at 9:30 pm. Yup! You guessed it. The smell was still there! It got so bad that I started getting a headache. I just couldn't take it anymore! By 10 pm, my husband called downstairs and explained the situation stating we HAVE to check out due to the stench and asked for a refund. Their response, "I'm sorry you feel that way sir." We quickly got out of there and checked in at Embassy Suites next to the airport. It was quiet, clean, comfortable, and they were very accommodating to our last minute reservation. We eventually received our refund from St. Anthony Hotel. Again, this was such a disappointment because St. Anthony is an iconic hotel in downtown San Antonio. I hope they fix their plumbing issue!

Treat yourself to a bit of luxury and historical ambiance in heart of downtown San Antonio. We usually stay around River Walk area and never get to downtown. It's a whole different feel. The St Anthony's was built in 1905 by two cattlemen. The community has doubts they could pull off a luxury hotel. Well they did and it still holds up today. The first floor is full of old world charm ( especially beautiful at Christmas time). Several years ago the rooms were remodeled. They feel modern and roomy. Nice cocktail bar and upscale restaurant located in the building. For breakfast head to nearby La Panaderia for wonderful pastries and a full breakfasts menu.

Im giving 3 stars GENEROUSLY only because of the beauty and hospitality of this hotel. First I want to start and say that we got the room directly under the 24/7 gym conveniently so our room shook all night and echoed our entire room. After making multiple complaints nothing was done. We even would have been fine with ear plugs. Room service would come to our room at 7 am ringing the door bell multiple times. There was no do not disturb sign to let them know that we were sleeping. The TV didn't work half of the time and we had maintenance come up even at almost midnight. The only thing that made the stay somewhat worth it was the location and the hospitality of the bellman.

Came here on a Tuesday night (Free parking tuesdays), turns out they have 1920s Tuesday's! There were live musicians playing jazz hits. The drinks we ordered were beautiful and delicious. What surprised us the most was the KFC (Korean fried cauliflower). It was crispy and meaty and delicious. The service was spot on and the ambience was perfect for a date night.

Overall, the facility and staff are fabulous. I would give five stars except for the glaring failure below. While I understand the hotel has architectural constraints in providing self-service ice to their guests, they promise ice delivery but faill miserably in delivering on this promise. I'm in my third night of a four night stay. I've requested ice for my room four times... and had one request fulfilled. Three of the four requests were apparently ignored. Do better St Anthony. Your founder would be embarrassed. I won't stay here again.

I'll preface this with -- I didn't stay here, but I had 4-day event that included presentations, meals, reception / mixer, and Holy Mass (which was a gift to have especially at a hotel). ~ Meals: For the most part, they were really good. For dinner, they had salads with sea bass and beef tenderloin. For lunch, they had salmon and chicken breast. For breakfast, they had waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, amongst other items each day. ~ Service: They were great -- very gracious and helpful staff. Seems as a luxury hotel their service is quite beyond what you'd expect at a chain, even though this is classified as Marriott. ~ Equipment / Technology: Allowed for great presentations through the projector and microphone in use; hardly any technical issues. ~ Hotel: At times it was clean, but you noticed some spots on chairs and furniture where you think they weren't as clean. Seemed also to be dated, but I guess that's the style they want to go for. The lobby and lounge area is really cool looking, though. I also had a chance to spend some time on the 10th floor sky terrace, which was a nice looking area that had a bar, some lawn games, shade and sun seating, and a nice view of the city. The ballrooms (I guess you would call them) such as Anachado, Cavalier and Draper were all very nice and spacious areas for the events we had. I think this might be one of the two top hotels in San Antonio and I am glad that I picked it. The hotel lobby smells amazing and its beautiful to look at, a perfect place for parties and special events. Our double queen room was more than spacious as was the bathroom. In fact, I was shocked about how large the standard room is. They have a nice pool with a fun atmosphere but it is closed in the evenings. They also have a rooftop bar which closes at midnight but I think its under utilized and can be a lot more than it is now. There is not enough seating and the service is spotty. The area around the hotel is convenient to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. My only complaint is that our room was not cleaned one of the days for some reason and there is no coffee maker in the room unless you request it. Other than that, I highly recommend the St. Anthony.

The St. Anthony is a hotel I always wanted to stay at but always heard it was in poor shape. But this building was recently renovated and restored to its glory and now part of Marriott International under The Luxury Collection as a luxury brand. I recommend using the parking valet where as I was told they have few self parking spots. The attendants were nice and quick to take our luggage inside. The lobby was gorgeous with 100 years of unique history with some modern touches. Checking in was quick with no issues. From the lobby I was overwhelmed with luxury with huge crystal chandeliers hanging, baby grand piano, and lush seating with all facing huge windows facing Travis Park across the street. Travis Park is historic as well opening the same time as NYC's Central Park. I reserved a one bedroom two room suite and was impressed with the luxurious modern look. The room had a huge bathroom with walk-in shower, two TVs, couch, and a view overlooking the pool and downtown skyline. There was no mini fridge but a honor bar with items charged to your room. This is a full 24 hour service hotel so if you need anything then contact the concierge. This room was also had modern controls for lighting and thermostat where can be done next to the bed. The furniture and the bed were very comfortable. I enjoyed the bath amenities and the turn down service who filled our bucket with ice and left chocolates. We loved our room. The only complaint would be the towels needed to be replaced with newer softer ones. From reading the history book about the St. Anthony this hotel was much smaller and grew over time, but do not notice it. We experienced the St. Anthony Club by having drinks in this cool hidden bar. Asked the bartender for the famous Southwest Airlines cocktail napkin, and he told us stories about how this place is haunted. We walked across the street to Travis Park and saw an ice skating and a big Christmas Tree. The St. Anthony had a stand selling drinks here too. This park during the day attracted homeless people and not sure how safe it is at night when the holiday events are gone. It is a short walk to the downtown attractions like the River Walk and Alamo. The pool looked heated where saw a few get in and we left with no issues with checking out and the parking valet. All in all it was a great experience and most likely be our destination stay when we routinely visit San Antonio.

However, we did notice an odd stain on the side of the bed/footboard. I could not give it 5 stars because the room's minibar was locked nor was there an ice machine on our floor.

Specifically, the napkin with Texas triangle Herb Kelleher supposedly drew when he and Rollin King had the idea start Southwest Airlines at the same place back in 1967. The decor was splendid. It was like stepping back in time. Definitely an avgeek moment. I was inspired. Of course I had to order Herb's drink made with Wild Turkey. The cost? $7.37! Get it??

Be sure to call ahead and see if their elevators are working!!!! For a 5 star hotel ($383.00 per night) to only have one elevator operational is unacceptable. We wasted large amounts of time waiting for the elevator. It complicated getting luggage down to the first floor. I don't expect this from a "Luxury Collection Hotel." 30 minute wait to get our car from valet service $52.00 for nothing.

I was very impressed by this hotel and confidently am giving 5 stars, which I rarely do. Everything from the checking-in process, to the furniture, elevators, customer service, and views from my room were spectacular. Granted, I am staying on the top floor and enjoying all the perks I got by having the Marriott Bonvoy AMEX card. The grandfather clock, the multiple pianos, the morning coffee bar (open 6AM-11AM), and lounges are very elegant and serve their purpose well. The restaurant Rebelle inside the hotel feels like a million bucks. They have a nice little fitness center on the 6th floor. Most importantly, the location right on the Riverwalk makes this hotel one of the best in downtown San Antonio. I highly recommend staying here for the epitome of customer service and old fashioned charm. Pro-tip: If you're in San Antonio for work or something, staying at the St. Anthony, have a car, and will not physically be in the hotel area from 8AM-6PM, you can find street parking and pretty much park for free every evening. No need to spend the $43 for their overnight parking.

Beautiful atmosphere. Clean and conveniently located to so many fun places in downtown San Antonio. The pool is big enough for the family to enjoy. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Can't wait for my next visit.
