As other locals pointed out, this is an awful place to eat Francesinha. Unfortunately, Bourdain having visited this place has created a lot of hype.
Let’s start with the sauce: it’s really bad. Maybe the worst I’ve had, in dozens/hundreds of francesinhas. It tasted like the poured whiskey last minute and didn’t cook it off. It was so bitter, it made the whole francesinha inedible.
The filling was ok, but the steak was extremely over cooked and tough.
It’s smaller than in most places, which I’m fine with, but it’s also more expensive than other places. These 2 don’t go well together.
The only positive thing was the fries: homemade, thin, crispy, salted well.
Overall, if this is your first francesinha, please don’t ruin it for yourself and go somewhere else.
