Our team visited Mayan Kitchen in Sunnyvale’s downtown on Murphy Avenue for lunch. One standout positive was their surprisingly large selection of vegan options, which can be hard to find in Mexican-style cuisine. This made it a convenient spot for a group with varied dietary preferences. We tried a couple of their specialty drinks , the brown rice horchata and the tamarind agua fresca both of which were refreshing and nicely balanced. For appetizers, the fried plantains were delicious and well-prepared. However, the other starters, like the chips and salsa, came in very small portions for the price. The same goes for the charred cauliflower, which tasted good but included only 5–6 pieces and felt significantly overpriced. As for the entrées, the general consensus from both vegan and meat eaters at the table was that the dishes were just okay and nothing particularly memorable or standout in terms of flavor or authenticity. The churros were another letdown: we received just one, and it wasn’t especially impressive, yet priced on the higher side. The highlight of the visit was definitely the friendly and attentive service. Still, while the ambiance and staff were great, the food felt overpriced for the portions and overall taste quality. Overall, Mayan Kitchen offers great service and an admirable range of vegan options, but the menu could benefit from more generous portions and stronger flavors to match its price point.

Google
Mayan Kitchen offers tasty food and good service, but there are a few things to be aware of. Ordering was a bit challenging for me since the menu felt somewhat chaotic, with too many “top seller” or highlighted items competing for attention. We started with the Sikil P’ak and the queso fundido to share. Both were enjoyable, and the tortilla chips were especially good. For my main dishes, I chose the cochinita pibil and the blue churrasco tacos. The cochinita was great. The churrasco tacos were decent, but the raw peppers didn’t quite work for me. Finally we ordered churros, which is a great way to end. 1 or 1/2 per person was more than enough for us. Service was good throughout, and while the tacos aren’t cheap, the pricing feels fair for the quality of the ingredients. One downside was the seating: our table had a half-sofa, half-chair setup, and the sofa was a bit uncomfortable — whenever someone moved, the whole seat bounced. Cocktails here are wine-based, which is worth noting, but they offer a nice selection of Mexican beers to balance it out. Overall, a flavorful and enjoyable experience with a few minor drawbacks.

It’s not easy to find a vegan friendly restaurant in South Bay but Mayan kitchen surpassed all our expectations! They have authentic South American (mayan) food and lovely service. We have revisited multiple times and have never had any complaints.

First mayan restaurant I visited. I planned to come last month but didn't get a chance. Finally able to visit and try the food and drink. It has indoor and outdoor seating. It is located on closed street from vehicle. The interior is simple and you feel like you are somewhere at the restaurant in other part of America. It has plenty dishes and drink on the menu. This place will be "heaven" for vegitarian has it has plenty vegitarian dishes on the menu. We order mocktail which were refreshing. For appetizer? Yucca, tortillas chips, and elotes are yummy. The dipping for tortillas is very unique. It is not salsa. The bao and mayan tacos are yummy. Interesting the serve bao.it is exactly like Chinese bao. Pricewise it is reasonable but some are quite high. Service was good and we went home happy.

What an absolutely delightful restaurant with the most delicious food and amazing friendly atmosphere and service! Loved every dish and their awesome drinks and desserts! If you are craving high quality vegan food, definitely stop by here! Special mention to their Mayan hot chocolate which tastes like an absolute dream. Would love to be back!

Opinion Worth a T.

Google
Good food, drinks and dessert selection. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Love the simple decor of the space. However, the furniture makes it feel like a cafeteria It's a bit overpriced in our opinion, but it's in a good location with lots going on outside on the main street. Parking can be tricky when there are events happening, but it's worth a try

Google
This is one of the best vegetarian options around. It's extremely hard to find Mexican style vegetarian food. If you never been here. There's only restaurants and bars.So it gets extremely crowded on the weekends. There's plenty of parking across the street. And a big parking garage near by. We ordered a bunch of tapas so we could try all of the different options. The waitress came back to refill our drinks. I understand that it gets crowded on the weekends, but I felt like the guys were clearing the small plates quickly. I can't tell if that's good service or they were trying to rush us out. This is definitely a spot to try for a great vegetarian options

Google
They have plenty of vegan options. The food was phenomenal..I tried the vegan calamari taco (5/5). It's fried hibiscus. Loved it so had to try it again (so had 2 of them). (The service was great too, everyone seemed nice 🧁) P.S Don't alter/modify your order like I did. I modified one of the soft tacos to the crunchy one and didn't like it (too greasy).🥲 Vegan / Vegetarian / Veg review ☘️💚🌿

Yelp
Wow, truly an amazing experience. Mayan Kitchen Food is such a gem on Murphy Street! There's plenty of parking in the area, this street is also closed off to cars for outdoor dining. Located right next to the caltrain station. Neither one of us had ever had Mayan food before so definitely piqued my interest, because it isn't very common. It's very nicely decorated inside, including a little water feature. We opted to sit by the window and got a pleasant breeze. The staff was all very nice and helpful! They do gorgeous plating and the food has beautiful colors! We had the vegan calamari to start, absolutely amazing and. Pretty good dupe for actual calamari. The sauce was super yummy and wow! I don't even like creamy sauces but I kept coming back to this. We then moved onto the wagyu beef empanada, which was very good and the tamal de pollo. My partner basically inhaled the tamal de pollo. The salmon taco reminded us of the ones we've had in Mexico, great flavors. The cochinita pibil salbute was perfectly tender and had great crispy contrast as well. Absolutely delicious. Would definitely return and bring friends so you can try a little bit of everything!

Yelp
Stopped by with a friend after plant shopping. We sat outside since it was a really nice day. For apps, we ordered the Vegan Calamari, Yucatan Fries, and Elotes. I also got the Vegan Plantain Salbute and Vegan Empanada. The empanada and elotes were my favorite things! They were both super flavorful and delicious. I'm a big plantain fan, so I also enjoyed the salbute but would probably try a different vegan option next time. The vegan calamari was just okay; I've had better versions, so it didn't win me over. One thing I noticed is that they use both Impossible and Beyond in their vegan menu options. Before ordering an empanada, I had to ask the waiter to clarify which meat alternative was used. After clarifying that it was Beyond, he told me they were the same thing. I informed him that they are not the same and explained why. I believe it's crucial to make it clear that anything made with Impossible is labeled as Plant-Based, not Vegan. That said, I'm a fan of the atmosphere and occasionally crave the vegan empanada, so I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Food was great. Located in downtown Sunnyvale in Historic Murphy Avenue. We shared the Queso Fundido, Wagyu Empanada, Pollo Panucho, Cochanita Pibil Taco, Cochanita bao and churro. I really liked the queso and empanada. The chicken was flavorful in the Panucho. Service was great. He checked on us often. It is thoughtfully decorated with paintings, waterfall, and the seating. It would have been nice to sit outside but it was breezy. It is nice to walk around afterwards in the closed off street. Parking can be tricky.

Yelp
Stopped by this restaurant and the food was fairly good. Had chips with some salsas and beans and they slapped and the corn ribs were really good. Also had some tacos and those were good as well. Not too busy over all and I would recommend!

Yelp
Solid food that had some latin-fusion vibes. I got a tostada, a bun, and an empanada. The empanada was my fav. The staff were also kind.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING, so glad I found it on Yelp! I don't find myself in downtown Sunnyvale often, but when I came across Mayan Kitchen while searching for Women-owned businesses on Yelp, I knew I had to get down here ASAP. One of the things that sold me on Mayan Kitchen is that I was dining with someone who is gluten free, and they have so many options that fit the need. We tried a bunch of items from the menu, with some of our favorites being the Cochinita Pibil, beef empanada, and the pollo salbute. I also had leftovers that I brought home to my boyfriend and he loved them all, especially the elote. Excited to come back here and try some new items, as well as those favorites from before.

Yelp
Incredible food! So glad I stumbled upon this spot during food week. The waiting system is rather confusing & they don't call you-- so be sure to hang around if you're close on the list (this could've just been because it was a busy day) With that said, the food was well worth the wait... which speaks volumes about how good it was. The staff was apologetic about the wait and it seemed like they were short staffed, so not on them at all. Everything was made deliciously fresh and piping hot! There is both indoor and outdoor seating available!

Yelp
We went there with a bunch of friends on a Friday evening and we were seated right away. The service was great and the chef himself helped us decide what to order and suggested some kid friendly dishes. Since the plates are small we could try a lot of things and it was overall a fun experince. Yuca fries: 6/10 they were okay and not too flavorful Corn elote: 9/10 kids loved it and it was very tasty Crispy cauliflower: 5/10 was a little raw and not too flavorful. Tacos: 7/10 got a few tacos with chicken fish shrimp and a couple vegan ones with hibiscus and jackfruit: they were overall good but could have used a little more flavor and spice. The crispy tacos and salbute: 9/10 were great and better than normal tacos Bao buns: 9/10 they were also nice but could have used some more flavor Overall this is a great place for groups with many vegan options as well and I would definitely go again and try a few more dishes.

Yelp
We made reservations ahead of time initially for 3 and then changed to 7, but for some reason the update didn't go through the system. But the server accomodated us nevertheless with a smile and very courtesy. Service gets 4 stars - very polite. Ambiance was average to slightly upscale. Food is where this place came through with lots of hits, and a miss or two. We ordered a number of items and here is what enjoyed The vegan empanada and the vegetarian empanada were both good - served warm. We ordered 3 types of bao including the vegan, the tofu and the beet. Now the issue I had was that both the vegan empanada and the vegan bao both seemed to have the same Impossible vegan filling so they tasted very similar. The tofu and beet bao were good - the bao bun particularly was super soft Definitely order the jicama salsa as well as the regular salsa. Also order the hot chocolate, the kiddo said it tasted like the one he loved back in Barcelona. Overall definitely worth a visit and a repeat. Hopefully they will rotate the menu so we can keep going back.

Yelp
I had the vegan bao bun delivered for a work lunch, it was delicious! The bread was super fluffy and the impossible meat filling was very flavorful. From the pictures I thought it looked kind of dry and/or bland but it was actually really really good. Menu has several labelled vegan options, would love to come back and try more.

Yelp
*First time review, dined indoors* Okay whaaat! This place is insanely good! I am already planning my m next time back. My friends live near downtown Sunnyvale and wanted to meet here. Everyone that works here is so nice! They knew it was my first time and didn't rush me. I got a few things to try, loved everything. Do note the plates are fairly small but that's the charm. Everything is "one" so you can try a variety. Elote - 10/10 big ribs of corn, seasoned really well, tender corn. Crispy shrimp taco - 10/10 I did get mine with no coleslaw just because I don't care for cabbages shrimps were tender, flavorful and the shell was extremely crispy in the best way Beef empanada - 10/10 ordered one, had to get a second. Absolutely insane flaky crust, seasoned tender beef, very good. Only complaint is this one is 2.5 bites, wish it was a bit bigger Chicken bao - 8/10 super soft bao bun, was unexpected to see this here but glad I got it! Sauce was great, had a bit of a kick. Nice amount of chicken Horchata - my friend ordered this and I had a sip, best horchata I have ever had! Was not watery and did not have a crazy amount of sugar-- perfect sweetness Interior - super cute. Not extremely fancy but that's the charm. Lowkey but still nice inside. The servers cleared out table promptly which I enjoyed because we kept getting new plates

Yelp
It's just okay. A bit too pricey for just okay food. Won't be back. Was here with big group as they have space Salad was actually horrid. I got the Merida salad for the jicama and queso fresco and I barely saw either. It was cut up romaine with some wilted for $16. 1 star Taco was okay but overpriced. $6.50 when I get better tacos in sf for $4.95. So unimpressed Lastly aqua Fresca of the day is $7.50. Wow so overpriced. It wa dragonfruit and good. But shouldn't be that pricey. Chips and salsa for 9.95. Yikes. Won't be back if it's my choice.

Yelp
This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants around. I like that they have such a selection of regular and non meat options. Let me start by saying that this restaurant is located in a very popular location,it's surrounded by other restaurants and bars. I feel like there's plenty of parking spaces, yet it always takes forever to find a spot to park. We walked in to get seated.we tried to get outside seating, but decided not to wait. There's plenty of inside seating, especially if you have a large party. The waitress took our drink order and said she would be back to take our order. As it recommends on the menu,we ordered a variety of of plates to try. We had a nice mixture of vegetarian plates along with some meat dishes. I realized it was crowded, but it would have been nice to have the waitress stop by more often to refill our drinks. I'll still continue to come here, the is that good.

Yelp
clean, friendly, and fast. If you're new here, i encourage you to try the pork bao & their fried plantain! so good

Yelp
Crave-worthy! And vegetarians, rejoice! This restaurant has so many options to choose from that it should be a must on your list. The food was really good. So was the michelada. Everything we tried was delicious. Literally, just close your eyes and point to anything on the menu. I can't remember the names of everything but just look at the pictures! Can confirm, everything was delicious. Cute little date spot. Definitely make sure you CHECK IN TO CLAIM your free churro! They have bad service so I wasn't able to check in and I sadly did not get my churro... Don't be like me.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Everyone there is also dress as Mayans (they are also Hispanic) And as someone who is Guatemalan, it did remind me of home. So that was really cute. The only downside is that they are very expensive. For one of these things they are about $8-9 a pop. If you are someone who eats a decent amount you are looking at around $20 - $30 minimally. And the plantains were $12. I definitely do think you can go somewhere for similar food but it was very yummy and a great experience. So you are paying for the extra ambient and service :)
google avatar

Yelp
Overall I thought this restaurant was OK - nothing was bad but nothing really stood out to me either. I ordered the charred cauliflower appetizer and two tacos (pork and salmon). The cauliflower was fine, but I was expecting it a little more char given the name! There was also a little too much sour / pickle flavor for my preference. I liked the salmon taco and the aioli, but the pork was kind of mushy and didn't have much depth to the flavor (spicy, sweet or something else). I was most disappointed in the pork since I feel like that is a staple here! This still satisfied my taco craving and I think there are many other dishes to try, however, I probably wouldn't go out of my way here. It is worth nothing that this is probably a great spot for vegans and vegetarians though due to their variety of non-animal options.

Yelp
Solid restaurant to get food at and is vegan friendly! Lots of seating available. I came here for lunch with my vegan friend on a Friday. It wasn't busy in the restaurant itself. Since I had a heavy breakfast, I only ended up ordering two items: the beef empanada and the chicken bao. Both were flavorful and left me feeling satisfied. My vegan friend also really enjoyed his dishes and couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. You can also order Robu Coffee and have it delivered to your table.

Yelp
We've eaten at Mayan Kitchen a few times, and we really like that they use whole local ingredients in creating their menu items. We typically get a few small plates because they have so many different options, from traditional Mayan fare to what seems to be Asian fusion. This last trip, I tried the quesa cochinita taco (pork taco with cheese grilled into the soft tortilla shell) and the wagyu beef empanada. They were both delicious in their individual ways. I loved the crust of the empanada and the mild savory filling. The Taco was bolder and the cheesy shell was delightful. My wife had the pollo bao bun, which was her favorite, along with the salmon taco. She said that was good. We also shared the chips and black bean dip. Their chips are made in-house and are the perfect blend of crispy and salty. The dip was also very tasty. The service was very attentive. We were able to chat with chef Correa, who was taking orders and circulated among the tables. Although we're meateaters, there were many options for vegetarians and vegans throughout the menu. The restaurant was clean and neatly decorated but not fancy. Still, it's nice to have a sit-down meal in a place that is designed for sitting and enjoying your food. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Great ambience, food, and service!! The staff was so kind - food was phenomonel. Great vegan options, and meat eaters at the table loved theirs too. Pretty good prices for such a nice dining experience. Would rec at least 2 dishes per person. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I had the chance to try this place during Sunnyvale Restaurant Week. Mayan Kitchen was offering 4 tapas, and your choice of a drink at $75 for 2 people. This was a great way to showcase some local restaurants near Cityline. We had chicken tacos, queso fundido, elote and so much more! The food was great with the elote being my favorite. Even though it was tapas, we got really full from all 4 dishes. This was a great way to sample their dishes and try out a new restaurant. I'm looking forward to coming back for their other menu items.

Yelp
We stopped by here on a weekday to grab dinner, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. They gave us a window table, which was pretty cozy. Their menu has quite a lot of variety of items to try and also a decent amount of vegan items. We started with some drinks--passion fruit margaritas and sangria. The drinks were refreshing and also looked great. We started with some yuca fries and garlic shrimp and later got a couple of tacos (salmon and pulled pork). Everything tasted delicious and flavorful.  The staff was very friendly. We later realized that the person attending us was the chef.

Yelp
Great food with many vegan options. I enjoyed the cauliflower taco. The homemade blue corn tortillas were a nice touch. I appreciated that they had refried black beans that were vegan.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service. My friends got a variety of tacos & enjoyed them immensely. I got the dish with "pibil " in the name and the portions were generous and it was very good.

Yelp
This place came up in a conversation I was having with my colleagues about vegetarian food. I was in downtown Sunnyvale and wanted to introduce my parents to a different cuisine. We came across Mayan Kitchen when walking downtown and it reminded me of my conversation from few days ago. The restaurant was pretty empty when we reached there by was half full (if not more) by the time we left. The service was great and the staff were very courteous. The ambience was decent. They have a menu which is a booklet. So we had decent amount of options to choose from. We ordered Queso Fundido, Vegan Calamari, Fried plantains, Pulled Jackfruit Tacos and Vegan Scallop Paella (if I remember correctly). The Calamari was a let down. The taste felt like reused oil. The mushrooms in the Vegan Paella were undercooked which made them very chewy. Not sure if it was meant to be like that. The tacos and queso were alright. The best part of the meal was the fried plantain. Overall an ok experience.

Yelp
Sitting in the center of historic Murphy Avenue, Mayan Kitchen has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (perfect on a summer evening). Empanadas 9/10: We tried the vegan and beef empanadas and loved them both. Crisp exteriors paired with flavorful, juicy filling made these a great appetizer, though I wouldn't have minded eating a bunch as a meal. Cochinita Pibil 8/10: This slow-cooked pork dish is good and borders on a 9/10 with its appealing presentation, fall-apart pork, and cilantro rice. I wish the pork had been a little less greasy as the fat congealed on the bottom, but I really enjoyed it regardless. The pickled onions give a nice hit of acid. Served with Tajin dusted jicama and beans. Potato Croquettes 7/10: I really enjoyed these but the cranberries were wholly unnecessary. I love croquettes and cranberries, but not together. They added a sweetness that clashed with the wonderfully savory croquettes. It's plated with tomatoes that are dressed in a cheesy, almost mozzarella or burrata flavor profile. Easily a 8.5/10 if it weren't for the cranberries. Aqua Fresca (seasonal Dragonfruit) 8/10: On the sweeter side, but still a really tasty drink. Their agua Fresca flavor changes throughout the year. Vegan Cheesecake and churro were good. Our server heard that we were hoping for a churro with no cream and was able to get one for us (they are cream-filled by default). Overall, the service was attentive and this spot caters really well to vegan diners and non-vegans alike!! They did forget one item on our order, but I won't dock any points for that :)

Yelp
Fresh and flavorful. Cozy and warm ambience. Top notch service. Our food recommendations came from the Chef himself. No wonder we enjoyed all the dishes. We tried Elotes, Queso Fundito, Tucca root fries, Conchinita pibil, Polo pibil, Chipotle prawn amongst a few. What stood out for me was the fresh food, tender meat and well balanced spices. Will highly recommend the Elotes, Conchinita pibil and the churro stuffed with cream cheese! This place won't disappoint. Must try!

Yelp
Ended up here after walking in circles in Downtown Sunnyvale trying to find a specific coffee shop that I later found out had relocated (shout out to one of the servers for helping me realize this). As I didn't want my trip to be a waste and I had yet to eat lunch, I decided to get some food to-go before heading back home. The ambiance both inside and out was nice, with a clean, modern yet colorful interior inside and a fair amount of seating outside that most of the people seemed to have preferred. I decided to get one Churrasco Blue Corn Taco, which costed about eight dollars, and the server gave me some water while I waited in spite of it only taking around four to five minutes. I'm not sure what kind of water it was, but I detected a hint of what was possibly lemon. Once I got the taco, I noticed it was a little smaller than I expected for eight dollars, and wasn't as filling as I thought it'd be. I'm willing to over look this however, as the menu did suggest to get 2-3 servings of taco per person which would make a meal around 16-24 dollars, which is unfortunately still cheaper than most other places I know. On the brighter side, the flavors of the taco were amazing. I'm not sure if the meat included was fake or not as I hadn't asked, but if it was it was probably the best fake meat that I've had. The experience I had here made what would've been a questionable and somewhat unfortunate trip in Downtown Sunnyvale a little brighter, and I'd be willing to come here again if I ever feel like returning to this area for whatever reason.

Yelp
This restaurant is located on Murphy Street, and the interior looks nice and inviting. The food here is unusual and interesting, with fresh-tasting ingredients. The service was excellent on our visit. The highlight of our meal was the potato croquettes appetizer. It came stuffed with cheese, along with tzatziki, grape tomatoes, and cranberries. All of the flavors worked together well. My husband had a chicken bibil meal with rice, beans, cranberries & tomatoes, and he loved it. My Wagu beef empanada was pretty good, but I would have liked a more flavorful sauce; it had only a bit of sour cream. My Bao with beet filling was tasty. It had sriracha, which was not too spicy; again, though, I would have preferred a different sauce. I would definitely go back for the croquettes and to try other dishes.

Yelp
OMG! If I lived closer I'd eat here all the time! We had a most delicious lunch here today. We tried a bunch of yummy dishes (drinks, appetizers, small plates, entrees and dessert) and everything was beyond delicious. So many amazing choices but the stars included the vegan calamari tacos, the vegan empanadas, and the dessert churros. So so so delicious! Service was super friendly and the restaurant couldn't be cuter.

Yelp
Food: 2/5 Service: 4/5 I came with a group of people during a weekday lunch period. I was excited to see a bright and colorful interior on such a dreary day. The agua frescas were delicious. I tried a couple of appetizers and tacos. I want to preface the rest of my review by saying while the concept of this restaurant is nice, this is way overpriced. An elote appetizer, strips of maybe one piece of corn, was $15. Ceviche is traditionally made with mariscos, seafood, but in their case it was made with jicama and for $18. I appreciate the vegan and vegetarian friendly options. But the entrees lacked a certain depth of flavor. I had two shrimp tacos ($8.25 each) and they came with two pieces of shrimp. Even with the slaw and aioli the taco was still pretty dry. I am truly astounded at the quality of food at this price. To top this all off, whether this was because of the large group or not, we had separate checks which already included a 20% tip. Go at your own discretion. If you enjoy it, great.

Yelp
The ambience was beautiful, service was quick, and the food was spectacular. We ordered multiple dishes and all were amazing. This place is great for those who enjoy meat and also for those who are vegan/vegetarian. I myself am vegetarian and saw the menu was incredibly vegan/vegetarian friendly. The queso fundido was 8/10 The potato croquette was 10/10 The vegan and cheese empanadas 10/10

Yelp
I've visited Mayan Kitchen Food in Sunnyvale multiple times, and it's always a treat. On my last visit, my fiancé and I shared several dishes: * Yucatán Fries - Crispy and paired with a tasty dipping sauce. * Pollo Bao Buns - Soft, fluffy buns filled with flavorful chicken, pickled onions, and a delicious sauce. * Poc Chuc Main Dish - Tender pork with vibrant pico de gallo, black beans, green rice, and blue corn tortillas. * Crispy Shrimp Tacos - Rich and indulgent (fried), topped pickled onions, slaw, and dried fruit for a unique twist. The food is on the heavier side, with lots of fried or rich elements, so I recommend enjoying it as an occasional indulgence -- maybe once a month or so. While I've only ordered takeout so far, the restaurant itself has a great ambiance. One thing to note -- the service tends to be slower than average, so expect about 30 minutes for a takeout order but worth the wait!

Yelp
The food was amazing and possibly the best presentation I've seen on food years. The service was fantastic with the chef himself assisting us in our dinner choices. It was nice and quiet on a late Tuesday evening perfect for an intimate dinner or to have some good conversation. I can't wait to go back on my next trip.

Yelp
Food is outstanding! Get the pumpkin seed dip and the elotes (corn eaten like a rib). Cocinita pibil is excellent, the rice is creamy and the beans are delicious too. We sampled their spicy Kutbil ik sauce - amazing! I hear they may be bottling and selling sauces soon, we're looking forward to that. Chicken salbute was crispy like a potato chip, the best tortilla. The pork panucho was a corn corn tortilla with braised tomato toppings. Both really good. We ate outside on a Saturday morning, just perfect

Yelp
Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Food 4/5 Restaurant is quiet & elegant. The service is great! We enjoyed the Yucatan Fries & Elote for appetizers. The fries were crisp outside & tender inside. We tried a variety of plates and liked the Crispy Shrimp Taco, Chicken Tamales with Salsa Verde (perfect proportion of stuffing to masa), and the Pollo Pibil Taco (moist). The side salad had a delicious raspberry dressing. The Guava Mojito & Guava Lemonade were refreshing. Don't forget to order the Churro Plantains for dessert.

Yelp
Great discovery in downtown Sunnyvale! Huge menu of Yucatán dishes. We tried both veg and nonveg options. Everything was very flavorful. Definitely one to go back to

Yelp
Our 1st @ this amazing restaurant.... Staff were very friendly, casual setting with a nice relaxing waterfall. Food is excellent. Every single dish came out hot, full of flavors. I highly recommend the elote appetizer. Yum yum yum is all I can say! Will definitely be back when we visit Sunnyvale again.

Yelp
If you're a vegan this place is 100% worth it. And to go for restaurant week I feel like it's worth. For the drink menu, if you'll drink alcohol, go for the sangria. The white sangria which is bubbling and popping. The margaritas here are meh and I wouldn't get them. Our favorites were the vegan calamari taco and the bao. We have some gripes with them but they're great. First off, the vegan calamari tacos are crispy, well-stuffed, double-shelled. We both thoroughly enjoyed them but my gf had a hair between one of her two taco shells and I think that kind of ruined her appetite. They fixed the order up quickly so that's nice. The baos were great. Only weakness was the bottoms were a big soggy. As for the other dishes, the salbute was nice and crispy but airy and soft. The wagyu beef empanadas are meh. I wouldn't get them again and the stuffing isn't that flavorful. The spicy salsa is spot on. It's like 1/2 a jalapeno worth of heat. I would ask for it because it adds another layer to all of these dishes. The staff here is all prompt and even the head chef is out there on the front lines. The place is kept clean and modern.

Yelp
Love this place! They do small plates. They have many vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat options. The menu has many different types of foods to try - tacos, baos, empanadas, and more :) They also have amazing mocktails (cocktails on the menu too!!)! Service is attentive. Restaurant can get kinda loud sometimes. And love their vegan cheesecake.

Yelp
If you are a vegan or vegetarian and looking for a fresh, take on Mexican cuisine, this is the place for you! Mayan kitchen food serves as an important reminder that food from Mexico is not homogeneous. The spices and dishes served here were so unique and varied compared to anything I've had before. Standouts included the vegan calamari and the fried plantains, which you can get in a smaller portion in taco form. The service was very warm and welcoming, and it was really nice to eat outside under the market lights on Murphy street (note the restaurant doesn't seem to have heaters yet).

Yelp
Taste I had the chips n salsa with a friend, the chips were very hard (not happy about this), but the corn that went with it was good. I also had my fav which was the crispy plaintain taco, I would come here again just for the. The jackfruit soft tacos were good as was my steak taco. Service The wait wasn't too bad, I just wish they gave us more plates in the beginning, but all-in-all, it was fine. Ambiance This place can get packed as it's a popular place! I'd come again to try other dishes.

Yelp
The service was good, the place looks nice and clean. The vegan calamari and the vegan jackfruit salbute were not very tasty, lacked flavor and salt, and they were on the mushy side. The vegan bao and vegan empanada were good, the hot sauce is delicious and had a good spice level.

Yelp
I absolutely love Mayan Kitchen! This was my second time visiting as my first experience was too good not to come and try more items. I love how there is a wide variety of both vegan/vegetarian and meat options. As a vegetarian, I truly appreciate when restaurants cater to both with a large selection and not just 1-2 veg options. The service has always been great here, with the servers always being attentive and the food coming out super quick. The seating is also very clean and nice. I ordered the queso fundido with soyrizo and it was so good I didn't want it to end! For mains, I tried the vegan paella and the jackfruit queso tacos. The paella was super filling and I loved the vegan sausage that was added. I also ordered the horchata latte because I was craving a coffee and it was literally so good, I would come back just for that coffee. If you're hesitant on trying this place, here's your sign to try it!

Yelp
Ordered 1 appetizer, 1 gourmet taco and 1 main. The main dish Chipotle Tofu stole the show. Very vibrant tangy flavors with a delicious side of cilantro rice. Vegan Calmari Taco was no less. Hibiscus was crispy and tasty and the sauces just made it better. I have to say I was disappointed with the Charred Cauliflower starter. I'd give it 2/10 - have had better. There was no charring to be found and it was a little soggy as opposed to the slightly crispy texture we were hoping for. The chimichuri sauce drizzle however was decent. Ambience was 10/10 and the service was very fast. I'd definitely go here again to try more items on the menu.
