The experience was very much mixed. No obvious reception (wandered round the grounds and had to ask a tradesman). Once we checked in, the room was quirky, warm and charming. The evening dining experience was a real let down, long wait to take an order (Staff were taking orders from tables that arrived after us), once we managed to wave someone down to take our order it was another wait for our starters. The Prawn Cocktail was like it was served in sea water, the main course of fish pie was even saltier. Both inedible, and we left before the Dessert.
Breakfast was a completely different matter, we were seated and orders taken very quickly and our breakfasts brought out minutes later. Absolutely fantastic breakfast, with fresh and high quality ingredients.
Would go back as a Bed and Breakfast.
