Approximately 90 miles from Abilene, Veldhuizen Cheese Shoppe is a family farm passionate about hand-crafted artisan raw cheeses. Their cows graze year-round on 180 acres of pasture, producing rich milk that contributes to the golden color of their cheeses. The shop also offers local, natural products like eggs, bacon, and soaps.

Cool place to stop and check out! Great cheese to try and take home. We did a tasting and it was free. Then bought some cheese to eat later. They also will give a little tour.

This is a wonderful family owned business creating their own brand of cheese....and it is excellent. The tastings are a great way to make decisions on which to purchase, they were all sumptuous. They are friendly and the prices very reasonable for the quality of the cheese produced. The drive there is scenic, and even though it is off the beaten path, you will definitely be glad you went!

Had to kill some time, so we finally stopped by here. We will definitely be back. Awesome assortment of cheeses, and they taste amazing! Great, very knowledgeable, staff as well.

Google
We could not find the place. Looked like something great to do. No signage (or we missed the signage). Looked like a private drive over a hill and in Texas ya dont go on private property without being expected. Haha (we just had time to explore the area so we went on down to Hico) Hope the opener sees this and puts tips on how to find it. We will pass by again.

A little hard to find so use Google maps. So cute! Good cheese plus other little snacks. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Google
Family friendly ❤️ atmosphere. Love all the difference types of cheese and other homemade items. They have fresh whole milk, that doesn't flare my lactose. We love ❤️ this place and I would recommend that everyone should check out for themselves. 😀

We came all the way from San Antonio to see this place. The staff was wonderfully friendly. They led us through a wonderful cheese tasting from mild cheese to sharp before taking us on a tour. We got to see the cheese cave for the cheddar cheeses and the aging building for the other cheese. If I could've added to the tour I would recommend that they make a small batch of cheese behind the big glass wall for us to see and that they let us city slickers pet the animals. We had a wonderful time and bought lots of cheese. The Dublin Karst, Mixed Milk Gouda, Redneck Cheddar and Garlic Dill Havarti were our favorites.

Google
This was the best thing to do on a rainy day!! They are wonderful people who keep old traditions alive. Homemade cheese on the farm! Plus all the animals were a bonus too. Can't wait to go back next year. Cheese was very tasty and bought the mustard too. Thank you for a fun filled tour!

Yelp
The tour was amazing it was a long drive from me from Austin but I'm already planning a second trip.

Yelp
The place was way out in the middle of nowhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. I did not care for any of the cheeses, but my friend did. I believe she bought two different kinds of cheeses while we were there It would not be a place I would recommend or ever go to again. Actually I prefer the cheese at Trader Joe's or Central Market and they are both much closed!

Yelp
Such amazing cheese, I bought 5 different kinds. They let you taste test so you know what you're buying. At their suggestion I purchased the caraway cheese and made a grilled cheese using corned beef: amazing. I love the old redneck cheddar, so good!

Yelp
This shop is worth a drive if you aren't from around here. I loved the cheeses and all of them are raw milk cheeses. It was tough to pick my favorite, but here are a few. Number 1 was sheeps milk Gouda, 2nd jalapeño cheddar, Gouda, red neck cheddar. The cheese cave has a tour on Thursday if you can make it, if not take a look at the pics, it's so neat.

Yelp
Wonderful artisan cheeses locally sourced and fairly priced. Great selection of cow and goat or sheep cheese.

Yelp
We enjoyed the experience of going to the shoppe and taste testing the cheeses. A word of warning however. The cheese that they place in front of you is not exactly what you will get cut from the wheel, if purchased. We purchased three different cheeses, the Gouda, Da Vine Cheddar, and Texas Gold Cheddar. Each of these was much drier, harder, and sharper than those samples that we taste tested. I now have a pound and a half of cheese that will primarily be used similarly to asiago or parmesan. This is disappointing. I am rooting for small businesses like this one but consistency of product makes it tough.

Yelp
We purchased tickets online for their Farm Tour and visited them today. Chelsea gave us a very personable and knowledgeable tour of their cheese making process and cheese caves. We sampled many different cheeses and purchased a few pounds to take home and enjoy. What an amazing family business. Excellent customer service and delicious cheeses!

Yelp
Nice cheese shop in the country side. We loved Eli and his knowledge of cheese. We got four different kinds after sampling many. Great trip for guests in the area to try so good cheese!

Yelp
A very enjoyable time spent here recently while visiting my son and his family in Stephenville. It was a somewhat wet and rainy day but we were able to go inside the store. Had a great time learning about the different cheeses made and was pleased with the samples as well. Purchased a variety of different cheeses to share with others when we get home. Stuart was very nice and we really enjoyed talking with him about the hard work, dedication, love of family and love of life that it takes to run a farm. Well worth your time to drop in and visit. M. Yelp
We live 50 miles away, but neighbor raved about this cheese shop. We made the drive on a Tuesday morning. We were the only customers at that time, and really received the royal treatment. Well worth the drive. We will return. You can also buy online!

Yelp
Wow. What a find. Staff was so helpful. Will be sure to stop by again. The Bosque Blue is my favorite.

Yelp
Super neat hole in the wall. Definitely something worth visiting wether you've lived in Stephenville/Dublin a while or if you're just here for a the weekend. Nice people, nice environment, very helpful. Definitely a small business to support. Tasty cheese!!!

Yelp
Finally got to visit this gem. We loved it, Ruby was very helpful and let us try all that we wanted. She was also very good with our kids (3 & 6) let them try samples and from the cheese curds behind the glass window. We left very happy and excited with what we bought.

Yelp
What a fun activity of cheese tasting. Quality cheese products for every palette. Yummy! Now, just need some wine to go with that!

Yelp
On a recent visit to family in Weatherford, we detoured off Highway 281 and made our way to Dublin, Texas and the small cheese shop at Veldhuizen Family Farm. Here, four generations work together to produce raw artisan cheeses. The dairy sheep at the entrance to the property sure looked fat and happy as they grazed the native grasses. The herd of Jersey and Guernsey cows were not visible but the property is nicely manicured and welcoming. Our hostess in the tasting room started us with 2-4 month aged Gouda, made in the traditional Dutch fashion. This creamy wine was a winner for me and we took some home. I also enjoyed the Mixed Milk Gouda, which is half-and-half cows milk and sheep. After tasting through 11 delicious fresh cheeses, we left with 1/2 pound of 4 different choices. I highly recommend Redneck Cheddar and the seasonal Hatch Green Chile Havarti. From the shop, you can see the creamery where all the cheeses are made, and near the entrance, you'll see the door to the cheese cave. This is carved into a hill on the property and all cheeses are naturally aged here. Tours of the cave are available every Saturday at 10:30, but don't hesitate to call and ask for a tour if your travel takes you to the area on another day of the week. And they even offer a Cheese Club! Receive a selection of 5 seasonal cheeses four times a year shipped to your door. Complete with handcrafted accompaniments and a virtual tasking with the cheesemaker, this is a great gift idea or just something fun for your own kitchen. Once we got home, I prepared gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches using a splash of olive oil and unsalted butter, heated to toast sliced white bread layered with Gouda, Redneck Cheddar and crispy cooked bacon. Now to start a batch of Mac 'n Cheese with Jalapeño Cheddar and Wooly Texas blended with some butter, heavy cream and crumbled bacon and shredded brisket left from our July 4th BBQ. Yum!

Yelp
A gem of a find and an easy road trip from Fort Worth. Combined it with a trip to the nearby Chicken Coop flea market. Staff was patient and friendly, generous with knowledge and hospitality - even on a busy Saturday. Awesome cheese but lots of other local goodies. Pleasantly surprised by all the extras. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Music & Cheese at the farm was such a blast. The passion and love this family owned cheese farm has is shared in the wonderful products they make. It was a wonderful night on the farm. The drive out was nourishment for the soul. Look forward to more events in the future.

Yelp
During Spring Break my family took a day trip to Dublin. First stop we toured the Veldhuizen cheese shop. It was a pleasure meeting Stuart and his family and learning the process of how they make their cheeses. The tour is great for all ages. We sampled and purchased the different varieties of cheese. We also got to pet some of the animals on the farm. My kids fell in love with the puppies and spent several days trying to convince us to get one. We easily spent 2 hours visiting!

Yelp
A friend and I had some time to kill before attending bacon bash and she found this awesome cheese shop. I love cheese and I absolutely love exploring. The area is beautiful and easy to find. It is a family run business which I love. Everyone was so friendly and the cheese was delicious! They also sell raw milk and butter! So glad we were able to stop here!

Yelp
Just visited this cheese farm. They had many varieties and all were good. Both cow and sheep cheese. This is family owned and operated. We will be back! They also have mail order.

Yvonne B.

Yelp
Great cheese. Kinda of pricey. Was disappointed after reading some of the reviews. No tours and no friendy family there when we were there. Just one sales girl selling cheese. No animals to pet, we took our grandkids just to see them and take the tour. But girl said they only have them on sat.

Yelp
The Veldhuizen Family Farm is a working dairy farm that makes and sells their own raw milk cheeses and dairy products. The farm is located off of Highway 377 halfway between Stephenville and Dublin. Turn South at the St. Mary's Catholic Church on the North side of the road and follow the signs 2.5 miles to the dairy. Plenty of parking is available in front of the shop. They have over 100 head of cattle, and milk around 45 cows twice a day, every day. The cows graze in the fields at the dairy (no pesticides or chemical sprays). All of their products use raw cow's milk that does not go through pasteurization or homogenization, and the cows do not receive hormones or other artificial nasty stuff. They offer tours every day for a nominal fee ($3 adult, $2 kids) where you get a guided tour of the entire operation, from the milking barn and cheese-making room, to the two cheese aging rooms. The calves are in pens along the driveway, and you are encouraged to walk over to see and pet them. The cheese shop has a window so you can look into the cheese-making room (if you don't want to take a tour). They make and sell fifteen different varieties of farmstead cheese. Samples are available and they will sell any quantity you want. They also have sausages, baked items, and other things for sale. You will probably be helped by one of the Veldhuizen family; owners Stuart and Connie, one of their children, or one of their parents. All of them are such a delight to talk with, and they will answer any questions you may have. They are proud of their operation and their products, and it shows. We visited the farm during the St. Patrick's Day festival in Dublin, and the dairy was crowded, but they were very helpful, energetic, and ready to please. Stuart was very knowledgeable and he somehow found time to chat with us about raw foods and the battles farmers have with big agriculture and the chemical companies that want everyone to eat genetically modified, chemically sprayed food. We bought Sharp Shooter Cheddar, Texas Gold Cheddar, Bosque Blue, and a quart of raw cream. All of it is delicious. I made a grilled Bosque Blue sandwich that was just amazing.

Yelp
Great little place to buy delicious cheese and raw milk. Their facility is very clean and cows are grass fed. They also sell meat and other products like eggs, butter, crackers and sausage.
