"Maher Nakhal opened Le Mirage Pastry in 2003. Initially, he focused on Middle Eastern sweets like knafeh, baklava, and cakes. In 2016, he built on frozen traditions that his in-laws established in the 1880s at Bakdash, a famed ice cream parlor in Damascus, Syria. To produce booza, a type of ice cream with a uniquely chewy texture, Nakhal and his team pound ice cream by hand with a wood hammer and scrape it off from a stainless steel well. Le Mirage Pastry uses milk, sugar, vanilla, rose water, sahlab (herbaceous orchid powder) and mastic for chew. Frozen slices become white petals rolled with crushed Turkish pistachios, forming decorative (and delicious) flowers. — Joshua Lurie" - Joshua Lurie, Anne Marie Panoringan

"Le Mirage is an all-around excellent Syrian bakery filled with every type of pastry, cake, tart, and cookie you could want. But like skipping to your favorite track on a greatest hits album, we can't ever go here without ordering their baklava and bouza ice cream. The baklava is the best in the neighborhood (a high distinction in Little Arabia), but it’s the bouza that is worth a road trip just to eat. The taffy-like Syrian ice cream—thickened with a type of dried tree sap—is rich, gooey, and modeled after the same ice cream the owner grew up eating in Damascus. It’s an incredibly special dessert that deserves a spot in everyone's ice cream Rolodex." - brant cox

I recently had the pleasure of trying a strawberry Dubai chocolate cup from my local bakers, and it was an incredible experience! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming owner, who was not only sweet but also genuinely passionate about their creations. Their friendliness made me feel right at home. Now, onto the star of the show , the chocolate cup itself. The chocolate was rich and delicious, with a depth of flavor that truly felt authentic. Each bite melted in my mouth, perfectly complementing the fresh strawberries nestled inside. It was a delightful combination that left me craving more. I can't recommend this treat enough! The quality of the chocolate and the inviting atmosphere of the bakery make it a must-visit. I will definitely be back for another strawberry Dubai chocolate cup!

Omg so so so good!!!!! They even sold me some custard filling!!!!! They are always so nice and the sweets and treats are AMAZING!!!!! Go early or they might sell out of your favorite treat! Highly highly recommended. It's one of my favorite bakeries I have found since moving out here. The knafeh they make is to die for!

La Mirage Pastry on Brookhurst is a hidden gem for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their wide variety of Middle Eastern pastries are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully crafted. The baklava is perfectly flaky with just the right amount of sweetness, and their kunafa is a must-try. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. There are a ton of options and variety to satisfy your sweet tooth. Totally worth checking out!

Google
Just tried the viral dubai chocolate covered strawberries here and they were so delicious! Strawberries used were very sweet and juicy! My favorite part was the kataifi/kanafeh and pistachio cream, was offered a bit more to add in :). Very nice service and atmosphere! Try some other pastries, they all look so yummy! I got a pistachio cake slice for my Mom to try at home.

Just took #1 spot From The closed down Milk Shop in Los Angeles and LA Times Best Chocolate Cake. Been to many Bakeries and this place ranks at the top now. The Only thing missing was a Glass of Milk but I’m sure they’ll stock up later. Plenty of other drinks.

I came here with some family for desserts after lunch and I loved it. My sister in law recommended it to me and she comes here every once in a while with my brother. The family who owns it is very kind and it was a pleasure chatting with them while we were eating there. The father has been baking since 1979 so he knows what he’s doing! They speak Arabic and English and the son can also speak Spanish which is really great. There are so many different desserts to choose from, and my family and I sampled a lot of the small middle eastern desserts. If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to be! I also had the bousa “stretchy” ice cream, it’s not as sweet as the regular desserts but I had to try it while I was in town. I ended up eating all of it :) Thank you for the wonderful experience and delicious desserts.

We ordered a Dubai Chocolate cake for my daughters Birthday and it was delicious. Very fresh and rich. Highly recommeded. 💕💕💕💕 thanks!

Yelp
I walked in here over the summer break because I just wanted to see what Middle Eastern desserts looked like in person and I was curious. I have no regrets. The baklava is so amazing and I had a couple of them. I also had Syrian ice cream. There's also lovely cakes that I can pick for my upcoming birthday. Place has friendly staff. Walking in here oddly reminds me of the 2010s.

Yelp
So very Yummmmy for your Tummmy Mmmmmm. Just about any SWEET Treat that your Sweet tooth desires...

Adriana R.

Yelp
This place is my go-to for any occasion, especially my birthday. They have variations of cake sizes and flavors that are ready to purchase daily. Besides cakes they have smaller pastries that are decorated so beautifuly, you can buy something from there for anyone anytime and it would definitely be a special treat for them Not only are their pastries delicious but their customer service has remained top notch out of all the years I've been going there. I highly recommend checking this place out, it's up there with 85° except this place has a more personal setting, it's a small business so you definitely feel more welcome when you're there.

Zar N.

Yelp
They sells Persian cookies and pastries. They offered so many flavor of cakes. The decors of the cake was impressive. There wasn't a lot of staffs. For a cake place, they didn't have good enough number candles for last min buyers like me.

Lenny L.

Yelp
Mader was at the counter and we ordered the most delicious bouza ice cream in Orange county. He went to the back and came out with fresh pistachio filled bouza ice cream. This bakery is one of a kind. Check it out. Everything looks good and their knafeh i will try next time I'm back. I'm thinking of getting more pastries. Its a combination of middle eastern and french pattiserrie. Don't hesitate to check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

Haley V.

Yelp
I went here to try the viral Dubai Chocolate covered strawberries. Let me just tell you how absolutely delicious these were! The strawberries are huge and perfectly ripe and the chocolate is warm and perfectly sweet, but the star of the show is the pistachio and shredded kataifi. It's so satisfyingly crunch and a perfect balance with the sweet chocolate. I'd go back for this dessert over and over again. Please go support this small local business the guy who checked us out was SO SWEET. Bonus: there's a parking lot right out front

Molly

Yelp
Came here for the Dubai chocolate strawberries & they did not disappoint. It's a perfect mix of chocolate, strawberries and pistacho crunchy yumminess! I'm not sure if the man who helped was the owner but it was very friendly service. He was so nice and welcoming. Overall the shop was clean, full of delicious treats, very welcoming & amazing. Definitely recommending to friends & family. I'll for sure be coming back.

Maria S.

Yelp
If you're looking for delicious pastries, cakes, and Middle Eastern sweets, this is the place for you. The pastries looked fresh and carefully made. As soon as you walk in, you can notice the cleanliness and the subtle ambiance. I was welcomed by the owner, who greeted me warmly. I will definitely come back here. You should come and give it a try !

Jeremy M.

Yelp
Very friendly staff but most important some of the best baklava in the area.!! They also have the Dubai candy bars here that everyone is talking about $20. Didn't try this time

Aubry J.

Yelp
Came to this cute little bakery and the owner was very nice ! All of the pastries looked very good and he gave us a couple of free ones just cause ! definitely a place to check out !

Isaac L.

Yelp
Visited with some friends as one of them wanted to introduce the group to the ice cream they serve here. To someone who's visited for the first time, the shop looks rather unbeknownst from the outside, but the displays were filled with outstanding pastries. I can't speak for the service, we ran into no issues. It's a small shop with only like 3 tables or so inside. I'd recommend taking your pastries to go than to sit inside.

Yuna K.

Yelp
I felt like we kind of got scammed here. The "dubai chocolate" was 20$ for a tiny, melted bar. The packaging was just a plastic wrap which looked unsanitary. It just tasted like bad milk chocolate like a melted Hershey's bar, and 20$ is atrocious. I've had much better ones for just 7$ a bar. The price tag is insane here. We also tried the bouza ice cream- it was good but i probably wouldn't get it again for the price tag either. The amount they give is small portion as well. Overall a huge disappointment. I've tried much better spots for baklavas etc. than here- would not recommend.

i g.

Yelp
I read about the Bouzos ice cream a couple years ago and finally made a SoCal trip and a point to go try it. It was delicious and unlike any ice cream I've had before. The owner was also very friendly and accommodating.

Michee Q.

Yelp
Super cute cafe vibes once you enter and there were sooooo many pastries to choose from!! Thanks to the staff for explaining the pastries, as it our first time there. We decided really quick (because it was near closing time) to take home the #MixedBaklava set and all the walnut, cashew, & pistachio baklava were all so delectable!! ....and the main reason we came was to try their Knafe Chocolate bar!! The initial crunch of the knafeh with the smooth pistachio cream was heavenly!! We'll have to visit again to try the booza ice cream!!

S P.

Yelp
The good: booza The very bad: Dubai chocolate bar - $20 for a stale, dried out, poorly made bar. Honestly, I didn't find a good one anywhere, but this was definitely the worst.

sophia n.

Yelp
The strawberry dubai chocolate is amazing. Definitely recommend trying it and the costumer service is really nice, we got free samples!

Sera E.

Yelp
The first time I got to this delicious and fancy pastry and first one tried this knafe chocolate I love it so yummy and beautifully desserts served by HANDSOME owner and his staffs. Clean Fresh Yummy. Must come back with more friends.

Ivette D.

Yelp
Love this pastry shop the baklava cookies, cakes, and desserts are delicious. The owner was nice and very helpful.. I highly recommend You give this place a try I guarantee you'll be back again !

Yelp
Tried Le Mirage Pastry for the first time today. I only ordered a small sized container of pastries which was half a pound (about 8 small pieces) and costed about $10. The staff who prepared my order was very helpful and nice, regretfully I didn't get his name but he provided good customer service. The pastries themselves were pretty good, not overly sweet. I liked the most the Walnut Knafe Fingers which I didn't get to take a picture of since I ate it already. And the least would be the Walnut Maamoul, it was a little too bitter for me. It's a small shop but they had variety of desserts, aside from cookies and baklavas they also have cakes and ice cream I believe. Oh, & they do have the Knafeh Chocolate Bar that became popular on social media recently, but I didn't get it because was not feeling like spending $20 for a chocolate bar today. I was glad to have finally tried some of their pastries tho, and will maybe try some of the cakes next time.

Barbieejo A.

Yelp
So I went for the hype of the Arabic/Egyptian ice cream. I was greeted so nicely by the young gentlemen behind the counter. I asked him what's the best flavor selling ice cream he told me the one I picked. So right away, the choice was clear. There were so mamy beautiful pastries, it smelled so heavenly. Many of the pastries were so artistic. As I exited the store I couldn't get a spoon into it quickly enough. So at first bite..hmm? I went for the 2nd then it was very chewy. Not knowing if it was oldaybe not fresh? I called a friend she explained that was the right texture. Best described as marshmallows cold. It wasn't bad but just not a typical American or anything I've ever had. Will I buy it again? Maybe not but I would Love to try all the other Amazingly Beautiful desserts. Even another flavor of ice cream the blueberry intrigued me So next time something else. Good creamy flavors on the ice cream.

Jessica N.

Yelp
Very nice small bakery with lots of different cakes, ice cream, and baklava. The staff was very nice too. I got 4 pieces of baklava for about $5.75. it was pretty good, no complaints. Lots of parking and they also do fancy wedding cakes. There are some chairs inside and a couple of birthday candles.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Dropped by to try the Bouza ice cream and we were directed to the freezer case. We grabbed the larger of the two containers and the last slice of the cheese Knafeh. While I browsed the pastries, my husband paid and as we walked out, he says "this is the most expensive ice cream we will ever eat". Thinking $12 at the most he shows me the receipt with a total of $31. $24 for the ice cream and $7 for the knafeh. TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS for a 16 oz container of ice cream !! Is this even correct or am I going to be told "high" quality ingredients were used ? We don't mind paying up but it was completely underwhelming. The flavor was good but not $24 good. Glad to have supported this neighborhood bakery with Erewhon prices but this is the first and last time.

Sana S.

Yelp
I recently visited this local bakery and was blown away by the delicious pastries. My absolute favorite was the chocolate cake, which was rich, moist, and perfectly sweet. The owner truly sets this place apart. He is an amazing and honest man, dedicated to providing exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction. There was one item I didn't particularly enjoy, and when I mentioned it to him, he immediately made things right by offering a thoughtful solution. His willingness to listen and respond to feedback showcases his remarkable character and commitment to his customers. People like him are the reason I wholeheartedly support local businesses. The combination of excellent pastries and outstanding customer service makes this bakery a true gem in our community. I highly recommend stopping by and experiencing it for yourself!

Silvia K.

Yelp
So much selection of pastries and ice cream. Try the pistachio ice cream super unique to this place!

Dennis C.

Yelp
First time here and this place is amazing. A lot too choices to choose from. They have amazing ice cream. The owner is friendly and offering free samples on ice cream

Charlene S.

Yelp
This ist the best hidden gem. You much come by and gget some of the most delicious baklava around. All the cookies and desserts were devome. Also recommend Turkish coffee. Owner is super friendly.

Natalie H.

Yelp
(Insert drum roll here) They have the most delectable, delightful, light/crunchy, sweet but not too sweet pastries. I come for their baklawa, basbousa and Zainab's Fingers (Asabe Zainab). Always fresh tasting and trust me, eating1 piece will turn into 5 pieces in no time. Regardless if their location is tucked away, their sweets don't need to be. "No one leaves baby in the corner" Mashallah for Le Mirage!

Karen V.

Yelp
Amazing quality chocolate, very rich taste Service was very friendly & answered all of our questions

Jae R.

Yelp
Came here with my family and we had the stuff pictured above, it was honestly so good that we completely killed it before we could take pictures haha the knafeh chocolate was also so delicious. I love that the stuff wasn't super sweet it was the perfect amount of everything, and the tart was honestly my favorite !! Everybody was so kind and answered all our questions and it was very nice and calm inside ! Definitely coming again!!

Gladys P.

Yelp
I was in an area of Anaheim that I haven't been in before and felt like something sweet. Found this place on Yelp and instantly their picture of pistachio pastries drew me in. When you drive up, you might think you're not at the right place. I didn't even think the store was open. They really should think about posting pics of their amazing desserts in the window. But as soon as you walk in, so many beautiful and colorful desserts and then rows and rows of baklava. I asked the polite young man behind the counter, Ali, so many questions and then I apologized but he said why are you apologizing, this is my job, I want to tell you all about what we have! I ended up getting a container of different kinds of baklava but if you can't choose, they also have ready-made containers that would be perfect for taking to work for potlucks or to parties. My favorite was the one that kind of looks like a little bird nest, so crunchy and tasty. They charge by weight: $19/lb. My pic shows 12 items, missing two items that I had already eaten, and came to $17.29 for 0.91 lb. They also have lots of different cakes, both slices and whole cakes, which I will try next time.

Angel R.

Yelp
I got awamat from this place half of the box was stale and not fresh . Not to mention I paid 20 dollars for a tiny box . I would not mind the price if quality was good but I was very disappointed and will not be going back.

Saif A.

Yelp
Best Dubai chocolate bar in California. Great service. The owner is very nice. Very nice environment clean.

Lizeth S.

Yelp
Ahhhh I found the pistachio chocolate omg ! They are soooo nice and the desert are amazing ! Customer service is TOP of the line

Rawya N.

Yelp
So I recently visited this place to get some small mini cakes and eclairs and both came out to be $12.00 and my jaw dropped. I thought each small piece would be $3.50 at the most. I get my sweets usually from sarkis pastries but I wanted to try something new. Also their ice cream is super thick and gross. I do not recommend this place unless you don't mind getting ripped off.

Derek I.

Yelp
Paid a visit to try their Bouza (pistachio ice cream) because City of Anaheim posted this video on their FaceBook (to showcase the Brookhurst renewal project): https://youtu.be/7jxEJ8GiyIM?feature=shared Very delicious! A small cup is $8.99 (actual price on the receipt, tax already included). The gummy texture definitely filled me up! The lady warmly welcomed me when I walked into the store. They have a nice display of pastries, so I'll definitely need to come back to try their other goods.

Meena N.

Yelp
Came here on a whim because I was craving baklava. This place is amazing! Beautiful delicate treats lined up behind bakery class and each one was beautiful and unique. I ended up getting a bunch of different types of desserts as well as a pistachio ice cream. This is not like any kind of ice cream I ever had before. It was thick and almost non-- melting, it was quite delicious and it was definitely a different type of experience. The person behind the counter was very friendly and informative and recommended different types of desserts which none disappointed if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back.

Josh S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, fresh desserts delivered with full spectrum, lovely service. Excellent across the board. My family and friends are very happy to frequent Le Mirage for their delicious pastries and warm welcomes. Absolutely delicious!

Zeynep Ç.

Yelp
We just ordered these. I just got one bite and spat it out. All the desserts aren't fresh as you can see in the pic. How did they send this order I don't know. It was our first time and it was terrible experience.

Cody F.

Yelp
First time here and I was not disappointed. Inside is very clean and bright with many options to choose from. I came for the knafeh and baklava. Knafeh was sweet, savory and affordable. The syrup made it even better. The various baklava was soft and not too sweet which I enjoyed. Next time I'm getting the basbousa and much more. The man that came out of the kitchen was very friendly. I'll definitely be back for more.

Alison N.

Yelp
There is amazing service and the pastries here are delicious and there is so many if you even come here pls try the Oreo cheesecake its delicious.

Jahmmy P.

Yelp
Decadent pastries and the kind lady helped us even though we got to the bakery so close to closing time. My friends and I enjoyed the various Baklava, Knafeh and "Dubai chocolate."

Alyssa J.

Yelp
I absolutely loved these pastries! The owner was so sweet, he even gave us free cookies for us to try!! Will definitely return :)

Nadia T.

Yelp
Excellent no much to say about it you definitely need to come over and try it it's out of this world !

Jeff V.

Yelp
I come for baklava (probably one of the best in OC) and the chocolate cake. Date cookies are also a fave. Too many things to try but the prices aren't bad so I try things out when I have calories in my day.

Sakul A.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the unassuming store front and strip mall! They have incredibly flavorful cakes, made with love and great ingredients. I especially love their mango cakes and mini cheesecakes. The Iraqi girl working there is the sweetest, very kind and helpful and always has a smile on her face!

Sadig A.

Yelp
The staff at this shop were not only skilled bakers but also warm and welcoming, eager to share their passion for pastries. We left the pastry shop with a box of assorted pastries, each one more delicious than the last. Prices are reasonable and most of the cookies they sell are sold by weight. So if you find yourself in Anaheim and have a penchant for pastries, especially Middle Eastern delights, this shop is an absolute must-visit. The authenticity of flavors, the wide variety, and the friendly atmosphere make it a standout destination for pastry lovers. I can't wait to go back and indulge in their delectable creations again.

Joe G.

Yelp
Le Mirage Pastry is located in little Arabia at a sketched out shopping center. You'll need to have or grow some huevos to get past the drug addicted folks with mental health issues that seem to occupy and roam the parking lot while using the business's side walks as temporary storage for their personal belongings. Once you're in the shop, more than likely you will be greeted by the same polite young lady that I assume is a family member of that establishment. It was an early evening when I went so they didn't have a large selection to go on, but what they did have, was awesome. Have to express that I was a little overwhelmed trying to figure out what to order. Ended up selecting one of their cookie trays with a plentiful assortment which the price is figured out by weight, a crème brûlée, and a tray of their popular baklava. DELICIOUS, I do recommend this place and I like that it's family owned. Will definitely be back and will ORDER just about everything there over time, including their homemade ice cream and shall post follow up reviews.

Eunice C.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting here. Turkish ice cream is not my style, but I really wanted to try their Bouza ice cream. It was chewy and surprisingly not too sweet. So I could eat them all even though it was not my style because it was good level of sweetness. The fresh pistachios taste really good. So I really want to try their pistachio flavor of gelato and cookies on my next visit. The bakery is very clean, and the place seems like dessert heaven.

Angelica G.

Yelp
I have lived around the corner from this place for about 15 years now. I have given multiple chances in an effort to support small business. But my visit on 7/20/24 did not leave me with any desire to ever come back. I will say the guy that was helping people was great. He's been the best customer service I've received from that place. My review is solely on the food. I decided to give this place on more try. They updated their sign recently, which led me to believe that there might have been some changes in their quality, so i decided to stop by and grab some goodies to take to a friends house. I spent $74 on various pastries. I got a few fruit tarts, some chocolate cake slices, strawberry shortcake, mango cake, and coconut cake. When I got to my friends house and the box was opened, everyone was excited to try a dessert. I noticed that only one bite was taken from the cakes and then left behind. Why? I thought and quickly realized why. When I tried a bite of the strawberry shortcake, the strawberries were starting to turn. The coconut cake was dry. The mango cake dry. Chocolate cakes, dry. Fruit tart was also starting to turn. My friends were nice about it, but I was sent home with the left overs, this would have never happened if the desserts were good. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've experienced this at this bakery. We have bought canolis that were expired. Their display is full of these beautiful decorated pastries, but I don't think there is much quality control. I feel they would benefit from baking a small portion of fresh items rather than having a full display with dried out cakes. I pretty much threw $74 to the trash due to the inedible pastries. I can't speak for the cookies and other items but the cakes definitely do not leave you wanting to come back for more.
