Bistrot d'Antoine

"The lilting accent of the South of France can be detected in this bistro, where a really convivial atmosphere reigns. Things hot up in the kitchen, with dishes such as old-fashioned pork casserole or knife-cut beef tartare – only the best makes the cut here. Crowded? Well, yes: Antoine has a huge (and well-deserved) success on his hands." - Michelin Inspector

We ate here in late-June and could not have picked a better meal in Nice! The steak and swordfish were cooked perfectly and the team recommended great wines for the dinner. Make sure to call ahead via the number on Instagram.

Google
So we picked this restaurant because it had good reviews and it was on the Michelin guide. But we had the WORST experience ever! My boyfriend had the cod and I had the swordfish. Parts of my dish were cold and my boyfriend's entire fish waa still cold and sticky. We sent it back and the server was so rude about it, no apology or anything. Very rude and disrespectful. When it came back it was still pretty raw and the server was very rude again. When we tried to ask about the dish the server just completely ignored us and grabbed the plate and sent it back again with no apology. When the cod dish came back the third time, they removed all other parts of the dish like the "caviar de courgettes" and just left my boyfriend with a small piece of fish with some of the sauce. Ridiculous! This is the worst dining experience I've had. DON'T GO. I don't normally leave bad reviews unless it was really bad but I hope this can be helpful for someone

Our fav dinner in Nice. The food was amazing and staff is very nice. They have 2 seatings - 7 and 9 and we went for the 7:00 seating. The pork cheeks were our fav super tender and fall apart. The other dishes were great too we got the tuna egg roll and steak tartare - we got 1 app and 2 mains between the 2 of us and were full. They put a lot of thought into the seasoning and make sure that the taste has depth and is well balanced. I was very impressed. Would definitely recommend coming here and making a reservation.

Google
We had a lovely time at this place. It was after 21:00 on a Friday night and we had no reservations. They had us grab a drink next door as we waited for a table, they cane and got us one drink in. The service is great. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is so charming. Would definitely recommend!

Google
We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! Definitely the most memorable restaurant that we tried in Nice. The pork cheek, beef tartare, and sea bass ceviche that we ordered were all loaded with flavors and delicious. The owner and the servers were all super friendly. We came across this restaurant by pure chance and so grateful that we did!

May 2024: A trip to Nice is not complete without a meal at Bistrôt d'Antoine. The first time we went, we were supposed to have dinner at a 3 Michelin-star restaurant in Monte Carlo that evening, to cap off our trip, but a couple of days before, we cancelled - we wanted something more chill, more local - and discovered this place instead. Best decision ever. The food was so good, the place was so right, it brought a tear to the eye. (Not sure the lovely server knew what to do with that.) We've been back a few times since and it just keeps getting better. Last time we got to introduce a couple of our kids to the restaurant and they loved it as much as we do. It's the kind of place that makes you feel so lucky to be alive and in that part of the world. May 2025: We recently had our 6th or 7th meal at Bistrot d'Antoine (at least) and this time it was a lunch with my parents who were visiting us in Nice, for a very special trip. The experience is worth an edited review (addingto my 2024 one, above), so I am adding to it. Our original plan was to dine at Bistrot d'Antoine on the night of my parents' arrival, but when I called I found out the restaurant was closed exceptionally for vacation. Alternatively, after more planning, we decided to arrange for a lunch on my parents' very last day with us. We were all excited for them to enjoy our favourite Nice restaurant (well, tied with La Merenda, which we also visit annually). On arrival, at noon, they did not have our reservation, which was puzzling and disappointing, because I plan things down to the very last detail. After some back-and-forth, we were lucky to have been given a table. I know enough that snagging a last minute table here is not something that happens every day. As we sat down, we learned that I had actually made a reservation at Bar des oiseaux (their sister restaurant where my partner and I had dined a few nights before, on arrival in Nice). The mix-up was my fault - when I was rearranging the plans because we could not book on the day they were closed, I know must have switched the numbers - both were in my phone. Their playful and confident (they were so sure they had not messed up), yet professional and service-oriented response, so that I could show my parents this special place, followed by what was probably the best meal of our entire trip to France (and we had many), is the reason I keep coming back and recommending this important place. Just go. And make sure you're calling the right number when you make your reservation. And try their other restaurants (Bar des oiseaux and Comptoir du marché) as well because they too are absolutely wonderful.

Google
My favorite meal in Nice. Complex flavors with fresh ingredients served in a straightforward manner. I would eat here every week if I could. Service is fast and efficient, value is great. Wasn’t expecting to like the zucchini flower as I usually find this dish heavy, but it was light and fresh tasting! The tuna appetizer with bread was simple and delightful. I called around 8:30pm and they got me in for a 9:30 seating.

Google
Bistrot d’Antoine is superb. Visited casually on a Tuesday for lunch and was blown away with the combination of flavours and different textures on every dish. My wife and I loved it so much we came back to try other dishes on the menu and the specials of the day. A must in Nice if you like culinaire and gastronomy. Place gets booked days in advance and it’s impossible to find walk-in spots during the busy season, so I highly recommend to book as soon as you land in town.

Yelp
Big fan of Bistrot d'Antoine and was glad we got to try it on our trip! This is a really popular restaurant and it was fully booked for lunch and dinner while we were there. It seems like they only take bookings via phone so you can ask your hotel to help! Anyway, we swung by for lunch and they told us they were fully booked. We asked if we could sit outdoors (it was set up but it had rained in the morning) and they said sure! Food wise, we shared an app, 2 mains and a dessert. The appetizers was Courgette flowers (Zucchini Blossoms) with ricotta cheese inside; there was this acidic mouse in the middle - a very refreshing and delightful dish! I don't see courgette much in the US so I'm glad I tried it. For the mains, we had the local trout and the braised pork cheeks with polenta. The trout was fresh, and paired nicely with a variety of different veggies. The stew was very warm and hearty and also not too salty. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu which was tasty but nothing to write home about. The waitress that served us was very friendly as well! Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend trying it on your trip to Nice :)

Yelp
This was one of our best meals in Nice. The food was a refreshing mix id traditional French food with electric fusion of other cultures. We had an interesting tuna spring roll for example. Fresh fish, pork cassoulet etc. Food was excellent. Great service and fun patio and vibe. Went there our last night. Perfect end to an amazing vacation in Nice!

Yelp
Totally lucked out getting a seat here on our first night just exploring - so happy we did / the food was outstanding I had the pork cheek with palenta / wife had the fish special - great wine suggestion - finished with strawberry desert which was as outstanding - definitely put on your list when visiting Nice

Mike H.

Yelp
Alex delivered excellent service and English was 100%. Menu available on chalkboard in French/English. Be ready for a true French meal from starter bread through entree. I started with homemade fois gras that was fresh and more of a patty than a paste. I had monkfish in amazing sauce and wife had vegetarian with raviolis. Wine selection was local. Love dining in old town away from the promenade.

Yelp
Our go-to spot for when people visit! The food here is amazing, consistently amazing, every meal that we've had here has been just wonderful! We loooove the pork cheek, and you can never go wrong with the "meat of the day". The seafood here is great also, vegetables are always so fresh...just all around great flavor French cuisine! Awesome food, fantastic service, great price point, definitely a must when visiting Nice!

Yelp
We were a little disappointed with this restaurant. The food did look quite good, but they couldn't accommodate my daughter's gluten allergy. I appreciate restaurants being forthcoming about it rather than gambling with our daughter's health. What I didn't appreciate was the waitress wishing me luck 3 times like I was crazy for trying to find a restaurant in Nice that could feed her safely. Obviously, we know how challenging it is, but we have been fortunate to find other restaurants that have been able to take steps to make sure her food is prepared safely.

Yelp
Had an incredible lunch here. We had the patè, cod fish fillet and the braised pork cheeks - all were seriously amazing. We've spent 5 days in Nice and have dined at several Michelin star or recommended establishments during our stay, and this place ranked near the top for sure. I will absolutely make it a point to eat here again when we come back.

Yelp
I walked to this restaurant from the Flower/Fruit market at 12 pm. It was completely empty & I was told that it was completely booked. The area is not busy. It's back of the market. I'm just saying.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant in Old Nice. Called to make a reservation- good thing because they were turning away people left and right without them. If you want to sit outside you need to make a specific request which I did not know, but sitting inside was still very nice. Waiter brought out an English menu for us. I had the beef of the day and my wife the fish, we had wine and a very tasty lemon tarte dessert. My 1st Michelin restaurant and it did not disappoint. Everything tasted fantastic. Wait staff was nice and I felt very welcomed there. Definitely recommend it, they don't have online reservations so either call or stop by a few days before to book. The prices were very reasonable, as was most of the area for that matter compared to LA for all the food and drinks and appetizers, coffee etc you get it is a great value. Highly recommend if you are in Old Nice.

Yelp
We got a recommendation for this restaurant and read some reviews that sounded amazing. We are so glad we went, the food was wonderful. I do recommend to get a reservation, because they are usually booked up. I'll leave some pictures to share of the beautiful dishes we had.

Yelp
Wow! Seriously wow! 6 stars. I'm a foodie and I've been in France for the last several weeks. While I have had some good meals I haven't had any exceptional french meals. But bistro d'antoine has set that straight. We made reservations for 9:00 and we were promptly seated. They provided delicious soft bread, warm lives and a lovely tuna salad to start. The tuna was served in a tin on a fish board. Super cute! The server gave us honest recommendations for everything from wine to dessert and so we started ordering. We started with a few glasses of wine based. The server took our preferences into account and provided us with lovely suggestions. We had a gorgeous smoked haddock and frisée salad. This dish was incredible. Gorgeous presentation with a fried egg on top. It was well dressed with an intense horse radish dressing and was so fresh. You could tell that everything was made and plated with care. I had the plat du jour and it was stellar. A beautiful flap steak with incredible potatoes and root vegetables. The sauce was too die for and the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dish was well thought out and executed with precision. Truly a spectacular dish. My partner had the duck breast from the main menu. I had a quick bite and it was really delightful. Even though we were stuffed we decided to go for dessert. I had the house made tiramisu as I am a huge fan. My partner had the panna cotta. Both were solid choices but the tiramisu was out of this world. Really it was the best I've every had. Service was attentive, informative, and warm. Decor was comfortable with interesting doodles in the wall. Anytime I am back in Nice I will be back here to eat!

Yelp
Today was my third visit to Bistrot d'Antoine in the past 6 weeks. It was excellent. Today for lunch we had the mackerel with peas, the artichokes with carpaccio swordfish, the duck breast with red cabbage sauce and the beef filet with carrot purée!! Absolutely wonderful. The service was perfect. Also had a bottle of Sancerre which was perfect - though I had a glass of Bellet red with my beef! Will go there again many times. Went again in Feb 2018 This is about our favorite restaurant in Nice. It's a small bistro on two floors with maybe 15+ tables. We were there in February 2018 for lunch and started with the leek and shrimp, and the artichoke and tuna carpaccio for appetizers. Both were perfect in presentation as well as taste. Then we had the duck breast and the steak. Again both cooked to perfection. A bottle of the Cote du Rhône Giganan went really well with the food. The service is attentive but not intrusive. For dessert we shared the poached pear in a white cream sauce - Poire Pochee Creme Legete Vanille, to be more precise. It's great creative cooking in a pleasant but boisterous environment. We go every time we're in Nice, at least once.

Yelp
From the spectacular starters of luscious veal salad and sliced scallops with an amazing sauce and hazelnuts, to the beef cheeks and trout in sesame sauce, our dinner was perfect. Chocolate mousse and spiced apples with cream were our mouthwatering desserts. Be sure to arrive hungry for three courses, because the offerings are simply too good to pass up. Delicious wine and superb service, which was warm and welcoming, coupled with truly lovely ambiance, and beautiful presentation of each course made this a superb evening for us. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and will definitely return.

Yelp
KenScale: 8.0/10 During our recent two-week long honeymoon/summer vacation in Europe, my wife Jun and I had eaten at more than a dozen places. There were places where we had a full meal, from appetizers to desserts, and there were others where we ordered three or less dishes because we either didn't have much time or were still full from the previous meals. In the latter category, I decided that I won't review all of them because I felt those reviews covering only two or three dishes might not be representative of what the restaurant offers (and it's not like we always ate at places like ramen shops where there is one central dish to cover; we usually dined at places with full sets of menus). The one exception I want to make and talk about is this charming French bistro located in Nice, France. Having just arrived from Croatia last night, Jun and I were strolling around the Vieux Nice neighborhood and checking out markets. I had already booked a dinner reservation that day and we were just playing it by ear as to where we will grab a quick lunch. After we couldn't get into the first place I looked up because it was fully booked, we stumbled upon Le Bistrot d'Antoine, and we were very glad we did. The minute you walk into Antoine, you will immediately realize that this bistro is for the locals, not the tourists who come to Nice from all over the world to enjoy the French Riviera's summer. We couldn't hear a single word of English other than between us and the staffs, and there is no separate menu in English, although our server kindly explained what each dish was. The food at Antoine is typical French bistro style with Provencal accent. I thought the refreshing Nicoise salad was a nice appetizer with pleasantly crunchy texture, but Jun was quickly put off by the anchovies in it and let me finish almost the entire salad. We were both in agreement that the other two dishes were fantastic. The beef pot with lemongrass verbena had a rich stew that was delightfully aromatic, and the beef was thoughtfully cooked to have an ideally juicy texture. Add the polenta on the side and you have one very satisfying dish for a lunch in Cote d'Azur. The other dish, pork casserole, was equally impressive, with the meat that was steamed over long hours and therefore was very smooth and worked beautifully together with the surrounding vegetables and potatoes. Both meat dishes really showcased how a simple French bistro food prepared with consistent execution and attention to ingredients can bring about a far better dining experience than some gimmicky restaurants with esoteric techniques and ingredients. We decided to grab ice cream at a nearby famous shop named Fenocchio after our lunch but in retrospect we probably should've tried one of the desserts at Antoine too. We walked in as soon as the restaurant opened slightly after noon and was able to get seated immediately, but the cozy dining space quickly got packed, especially the outdoor area (because we were already sweating like crazy people from all the walks around Vieux Nice, we decided to dine inside). For lunch, definitely grab a glass of French house wine to complement your meal. The staffs at the restaurant were rather proficient in English so you won't have a trouble finishing your meal even if all you can say is bonjour or merci. While I have put several fine dining options in our itinerary during our trip in France (more reviews will come on those places later) and we did have outstanding places at some of those, it is a place like Antoine that will stay in my memory for a long time. The French do know how to prepare some seriously delicious food.

Yelp
A real gem in the heart of Old Nice. Absolutely some of the freshest and best prepared food by Chef Armande. He and his wife have always greeted us with a warm welcome. The menu changes daily based upon the availability of fresh produce, fish etc. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Victor W.

Yelp
Phenomenal French food at very reasonable prices. The place isn't fussy and has a classic bistro charm. The waiters did speak English and were helpful with the menu which was in French and seemed to be changed daily. For the night we were there, we were really impressed by the calamari a la plancha to start which was presented beautifully with endives and avocado cream. It was like michelin star plating. The pork in casserole pot with polenta also had very deep flavor. They superbly cooked duck breast meat with a nice red cabbage and potato side. Would only hope every meal in France could be this good and such a good value.

Yelp
Place is great- had to make reservation before hand and the only one available was 9:15. The appetizers are adorable (olives, tuna and bread). We get the house wine wherever we go and there's came in a bottle and doesn't disclose the location of grapes which we found interesting. Tasted very good but was a little pricier than your typical house wine. Starters- I had the lentils and salmon and my husband had the goat cheese and shrimp. Mine was amazing but my husband was a little overwhelmed with the amount of cheese lol but we are in France Main- husband had the beef which was great but as all beef prepared in France prepare for it to be a bit bloody (was very good tho!) I had the risotto pesto with octopus. Octopus was great as was the risotto but the pesto flavor was a little too strong for me and I didn't finish it. Dessert- chocolate mousse was phenomenal, the floating island with raspberries was very underwhelming. It was packed when we got there and the waiters hustle and bustle but still pay enough attention to you so I'm very glad we went.
google avatar

Yelp
Michelin worthy. We ordered EVERYTHING on the appetizers menu. Beef tongue is good. Beef tartare is amazing. Foie Gras is the best. Everything else is delicious.
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
We came here for lunch based on Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews and we were able to snag a table inside although it was already pretty busy. The waiters did speak English, which was helpful since there is no English menu. Food: -Pork: The pork was tender and served medium. The sauce it came with was very good, especially with the table bread to soak it up with. -Duck: I love duck and pretty much order it wherever I go. This dish was beautifully presented. I would've preferred it a bit less well done, but it was still good. Service: -The staff were friendly and helpful toward us American tourists. The menu is written on cute chalkboards, so the waitress kindly came over and translated the entire menu for us without blinking an eye! We tried to leave a tip when paying with a credit card, but the waiter said he couldn't add it to the total bill (something about them being a bar). Overall, this is a great restaurant in Nice with good food at reasonable prices even though they could easily charge more. Give it a try!

Cece D.

Yelp
Small unassuming hidden gem. We ordered the Pastilla boudin and meat of the day (boar back) in sauce. This place is creative in flavor, yet traditional. So far the best meal we've had throughout South of France. Heading to a 2 Michelin star restaurant tomorrow and will compare.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
PRO: We had a wonderful experience. Excellent food, not too pretentious or stuffy. Great wine list, and attentive service. I recommend reservations and a table on the outside patio. Our best meal on our week long trip to Paris/Cote de Azur. CON: Coming from America, I would say the whole "7 and 9 o'clock seatings" concept is a little odd. The service staff does seem a bit stressed as 830 rolls by and you are still enjoying your entree. Maybe I'm just an unsophisticated American, but why create the time crunch?
google avatar

Sebastian M.

Yelp
We were walking down the street looking for a nice bistrot to have dinner, when we saw this restaurant. Apparently, we were very lucky to find a table as is always full. We have a really delightful meal. The menu changes every day, always with original local dishes. We recommend this bistro for couples.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
This is a great, affordable spot in Nice which is difficult to come by. I highly suggest making a reservation well in advance, otherwise it is unlikely you will get a table. My boyfriend was disappointed that the tasting menu was done for the evening, so we started with the calamari dish. I had a beef filet for my main course while he had the duck breast. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. I highly recommend the beef filet if you're a steak lover like myself. The only downside of this experience was that it became very difficult to get the attention of the wait staff and we had to ask them several questions in order to understand the menu, since they do not have an English menu. I also found it strange that the tasting menu was done being served at 7:30pm. Other than these two factors, we loved our meal.
google avatar

Landon C.

Yelp
Food was very good to excellent, especially the pork cheeks. The service, however, merits the lack of a four or five star review. The waiter was very bothered when we asked him to explain what the menu options were in English instead of using our phones to translate...went downhill from there. He ended the night by declining to accept my credit card because it was too thick for their machine...which it was for swipe but not for chip, which it had. Fortunately I had enough cash. Tip was included in the menu price so he didn't get anything else and the restaurant won't get any more business from me.
google avatar

Cem S.

Yelp
Cosy French bistro offering a great local menu. One of the best Steak Tartars ever ate. Friendly and smiling staff giving prompt service. Strongly recommended.
google avatar

Richard Z.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I had the truffle risotto, which I strongly recommend. As expected of anything with truffle, it was really rich, but not overly so. The risotto was quite creamy and both the flavor and texture were perfect. It was sprinkled with a bit of fresh chives on top which very subtly adds to the look and taste. The portions here are not very big; enough to fill you up, but you might want an appetizer if you're really hungry. Their duck steak is also really good. It's juicy and very tender and easy to chew. They don't seem to marinate or season it much with anything, and the meat itself is just of high quality and taste. The tartare is also quite good if you're into raw meat. When I ate here, instead of giving you small menus like any other restaurant, our waiter came up with a chalkboard that had the day's menu written out on it. He explained the menu along with the specials and gave some recommendations. He was very knowledgable. It was a very unique experience that I think adds to the quaintness and charm of the place. The waiters were all really friendly and spoke English very well. Service was fairly quick. The price is fair. I wish I could give a more detailed review, but it has been over a month since I was here; I couldn't remember the restaurant until now, but I do remember that I absolutely loved everything about this place. Definitely eat here if you're in Nice!
google avatar

Franklin R.

Yelp
Certainly one of my favorite restaurants we visited during our two week stay in Nice. It is necessary to make a reservation as it is quite popular. I enjoyed the pigeon en cocotte with the scallop carpaccio. Service was friendly and professional.
google avatar

Marcia P.

Yelp
Exquisite find. Apart from residing in the ethereal Vieux Nice, this hidden gem certainly makes me palpitate. From the olive starters to the calamari and mussels I barely had room for my entree, a divine handmade pasta with pesto -- so mouthwatering I gobbled up the entire dish, with zero regard for my table mates. Absolute culinary treat and at a reasonable price point.
google avatar

Frederic C.

Yelp
This is one of the latest talked about restaurants in Nice, traditional local food in a nice decor in the charming part of the Old Town. Worth trying when you are out there, you may need to book though.
google avatar

Thanh C.

Yelp
Excellent food for a very reasonable price. Remember to ask for other restaurants by same owner. The sea bream fish was very moist & fresh. Octopus was warm & tasty. Tomato salad was sweet & fresh. The beef tongue in the horse radish cream sauce was amazing & a must try. We want to try all their sister restaurants.
google avatar

Melinda C.

Yelp
Delicious food, very busy restaurant. Service could have been better from our server although there was another young man, William, who we observed as an excellent server. We had the rabbit tarine, calamari and for entrees the breast of duck and beef tartare, all very good.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
Best restaurant of our stay in Nice! Service was friendly, happy to explain and spoke English. You MUST make a reservation but if you show up on your way to the beach you can probably make an appointment for that evening. I can't speak for lunch but our dinner was good and I thought it was fairly priced. We split a couple of appetizers which were quite good (I'll post the pics) and for dinner I had some exotic veal kidney thing while my wife had a beef stew which was very good. You'll pay similar prices up and down Nice but the food won't nearly be as good, which is why there is always a line.

Yelp
I was told about this place while in a cab from the airport to my hotel. The cab driver said this is his favorite restaurant in Nice. I have a rule to always listen to the locals and I was right. The food is excellent. The restaurant is always packed. My concierge at the hotel had a hard time getting me in but somehow he got me a reservation. While at the restaurant, I saw them turn out a lot of people. But fret not, they have another restaurant nearby so they will most likely send you there! This is a very quaint little place and excellent food. Visit my blog for a full review on this restaurant @ www.thestylegourmande.com

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Make sure to make a reservation, even in the winter, even for lunch. The menu is excellent with a big variety of dishes. The staff was very kind and attentive. We will return.

Yelp
Super delicious food and friendly waiters. We returned during our vacation for the best cocotte de cochon in town

Yelp
After multiple attempts I can finally sit down at Antoine's, what enjoyment! A changeable card written on big slate, decent prices, a great service, a wide selection of wines, taste, simplicity, human heat. A real bar! I wondered why this place was always packed and I finally had my answer, do not miss this restaurant, it would be pity. Simple, good and cheap Don't forget reservation for this restaurant, it is simply impossible to come to eat there or.

Yelp
IF YOU LIKE TO FIND REAL TYPICAL NICOIS FOOD don't hesitate to go for dinner to Bistrot d'Antoine, no sea food but typical dishes like, gigot d'agneau, terrines , beef tartare ,handmade paste and more. Its better to have a reservation, normally is very crowded .

Yelp
Excellent , quaint Bistro in Old town Nice. Everything we had here was delicious. Started with the Ceviche, then had the jabon Risoto. Wonderful wine and desserts too. Make sure to reserve a table.
google avatar

Yelp
Bistrot d'Antoine is a fabulous, yet affordable, French restaurant in Nice. I have eaten there twice in the past month, and had wonderful meals both times. The dishes are traditional French - I ate tartare de boeuf both times (my poor heart), and had to convince myself that ordering fois gras as an entrée, in addition to the tartare, of course, was not in my best interests .... triste. Instead, I tried the artichoke entrée my first time and a seasonal salad the second time and both were delicious. (Possibly not fois gras delicious, but, really, what is?) Be warned, however, that this place is quite popular and you must reserve in advance. (I have tried to walk in and have always been told "non.")

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Situated in Vielle-Nice it is well worth a visit. The staff are super friendly. The food is simple but delicious and great value and the wine list is good. They have a menu but also a series of daily specials. You'll need to book in advance as it is ridiculously popular and hard to get in without one.

Yelp
This place is GOOD. And there's a very friendly English speaking waitress we liked from Arizona here. She was very helpful and nice to us. We received excellent service when we dined here. Their menu changes from time to time, but highlights we tried were their marinated artichokes, their sauteed calamari with endives, the cod was okay. Love the free appetizer of tuna and capers and the side of olives. We dined upstairs, it was quaint and a great experience.

Yelp
We made reservations for this restaurant as it is a necessity or you won't get in. It was easy enough to make the reservation although I was told we must leave by 9. I laughed about this as I don't usually need a two hour dinner. We like to eat early then take a walk after. So this was fine. We arrived and sat at a small crowded table right next to where the wait staff stand, again no problem we get the lack of space. The meals were good, some parts better than others. All in all the food is good. The service is not that friendly or it was an off night for them. Go there for good food at great prices. Don't expect a lot of friendly banter or explanation about the menu. Don't go if you are claustrophobic or can't stand to be near others. Small space means you hang out with other diners and the staff on top of you.

Yelp
Touted as the best French restaurant in Vieux Nice -- our experience at Bistrot d'Antoine certainly matched the praise. The food is prepared beautifully, and with the highest quality. We loved the calamari starter -- and had great success with the specials that day (beef tartare and grilled beef with seasonal vegetables). Seating can be difficult without reservations -- particularly later in the evening. Highly recommended.

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in Nice. I love the atmosphere, the wonderful drawings on the wall, and above all, the food. The classic Salad Niçois was a stand-out.

Yelp
Quite a weird menu. Good prices. Duck was delicious. Fois gras was authentic. Risotto with cured ham was not good.

Yelp
Had a terrific lunch here today. My wife had a foie gras entrée and a plat of pate (pasta) au pistou avec haricot coco. Both delicious and filling. I had two entrées...the first was artichokes/tomato/arugula with grilled fresh tuna and the second a carpacio of shrimp and avocado with other veggies topped with arugula. The first entrée was fabulous, and the second very good indeed. Along with an excellent bottle of rosé our bill came to 64 euro. Not cheap, but given the quality of the food and service, very good value for the price. Strongly recommend this place. The staff was happy to deal with us in French, but they clearly do English as well.

Yelp
This place was flat out fantastic, just book it and don't think twice. The location is great and picturesque for a French bistro, on a nice little street in the Old Town that is right around the corner from some fun places for drinks. Better than that is the food. I had the Entrecôte (ribeye steak) and it was great, but my wife's duck was the star of the show. For perspective, we spent 2 weeks in France dining at some of the Michelin-starred places frequently, and the duck is something we still talk about as one of the absolute best dishes from the trip up there with dishes that are much more expensive and at the 1-2 Michelin star places in Paris, Nice or Provence. The starters and desserts were all good as well. Very reasonably priced (around $100 US for 2 3-course meals and a bottle of wine) for an excellent dinner. If you are looking for an authentic French bistro(however one with an English menu) that serves excellent food, look no further.
