Wow.. I've been trying to get by here for a Mo' Town Monday for quite awhile!!! Finally made it!!!! Tiger Beats is amazing!!! I wish I lived closer cause it's be here every Monday!!!

I saw Capanula here for their album release show. Great venue, chill staff, has a good atmosphere. They have an outside area and a large bar with a good selection. It's a decent size venue, smaller but open - you can still get around. I had a great time here.

Not what you typically think for a live music venue. It’s more of a bar with a large stage in the back left corner. Great acoustics given the setup. It’s in East Nashville, so a little more up and coming than anything you would see elsewhere. $10 for three bands the night we went. Vibe is local which is always a plus whenever I travel. Definitely check it out if you like live music and are in Nashville!

Recommended by a few kindly locals as a place for drinks and live music. Great recommendation! The sound quality here is fantastic and the young ladies running the audio/video equipment kept everything rocking all night long! Beer selection is pretty impressive and the standard bar food offering has a little twist to it... order at the bar... pick up out back! Fun times =D

March 2024 Another great show! Love this dive bar. Saw Tajmaholics - fantastic musicians and a beautiful vocalist with spunk & charisma. Very experienced team! March 2023 SCORE! We got so lucky dropping in (After whiskey workshop) at 6 pm Tue - where the local songwriters thrive. Music and lyrics beyond belief good. We soaked in such a compelling spirit of melody. The TV series Nashville made me know the venue, but the live performances were well beyond the excellent recommendation from the show. Stunning Good Deep music. We listed to #TieDyeJam and Derek Hoke. Mike Miz, Josh Womack were fantastic but my Gold Medal for vocals, lyrics, message was Ginger Sands who I hope I hear again someday. She’s got IT songwriting for female empowerment that the world desperately needs to embrace.

Saw a show on April 19th and it was awesome. The first two bands were amazing (I didn't stick around for the last one). Also the person selling oracle cards was very friendly and patient with all my questions. But what really made my night was the door guy. He was super nice and really helped me feel welcome. Really loved this venue.

I visited the 5 Spot the other night on a recommendation from a friend. The music there was a Waymores reunion concert. I had never heard of them but one of the musicians introduced himself to me out of the blue which was very nice-- thank you, Don Henry. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the harmonies, the playing, and the song writing. One thing that the Five Spot has in spades is an a-mazing sound system. I have not heard music so well in many years. The crowd here was older and friendly and the beer assortment was delicious. My only complaint is that if you want food the bartender can make you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Did I order it? Yes I did and it was good. Thank you, 5 Spot of Nashville, Tennessee, for expanding my musical horizons, for the excellent music, and for your godly sound system.

Professional Stamp lady was extremely unpleasant. Made me wanna go home. Other than that not too bad.

Went for the first time for the Funky Good Time Dance Party. Cover was just $10 which for Nashville is pretty cheap. It was absolutely amazing, great dancing and great cocktails. Bartender was nice and the bathrooms were clean. Has a pretty neat area for smoking or if you just need to be able to hear yourself think. Will be going again soon for either a Motown Monday or another Funky Good Time Dance Party

We were in Nashville for a few days and after dinner our first night decided to head to the 5 Spot because it was nearby. We figured being the music-centered town it is, we'd have decent luck most places (and could move along if we didn't). The 5 Spot was great! We likedthe vibe, both bands we heard, and the selection of beer, n/a, and CBD drinks available in addition to liquor. It's a great dive/music venue and we arrived to a decent crowd even at an early-ish hour (we arrived around 8:30). We'd definitely be back next time we're in town.

Located near East Tennessee , this bar is such an amazing music venue and bar. Very fun and the bands were very good. We sat at the bar . Great views of the bands. The drinks were great. It's a good bar with nice vibes . Cover was $10 and drinks were about $10 to $15 .

The 5 spot has always been and always will be the best bar in east Nashville... They pivoted during Covid to help local musicians as well as their staff that were feeling very isolated by starting live streamed shows. Not only are they a great bar to hear great music in, not only do they serve better than average food from a food truck out back, but they are a pillar of the East Nash community and they wear the crown for the best small music venue out east. I honestly hate leaving bad reviews but I've been to the 5 spot a few times before and have had this issue twice. My boyfriend and I went there for NYE this past weekend and when tabbing out tipped $15 on a $20 tab. I have now been charged $50 but since I don't keep receipts from bars I can't dispute it. I was not inebriated and am completely sure of what was paid. Unless there was a $15 charge for tabs that night, someone just added to their tip.

I love this little dive bar. Small, friendly crowds. Seen a couple really cool bands like Tim Carroll trio, and the Tiger Beats. The french fries here are so good I get them every time. Just a great spot where you can go see a band at 6pm, and be home before it gets dark. Super easy to get to, and parking is not hard to find.

Horrible hospitality. Door man was rude. We wanted to dance. Wanted to know when the DJ started. Said he didn't know and wanted us to pay cover first. Said to go back to broadway where we could get treated like the sh** we were.

Love the music! Especially The Tiger Beats and the Motown Monday nights dancing! So much fun. I can't wait to get back there again and I recommend it to everyone who has never been there before! Cool place and atmosphere! Normal drink prices! Super nice bartenders and service is great!

This is an amazing bar, a big patio for future to breath, great bar service, responsibly checking vaccine status. Also, Crocodyle is awesome, they really ignited the night. Looking forward to coming back

$2 Tuesdays yass! A featured band plays in this intimate location. In and outdoor seating. Food truck in back. Other special featured musical nights. The 2 window fridge filled with a happy collection of ciders and beers, in addition to the taps and hards.

was drugged by the bartender. He used two different bottles of fernet for our shots, one of which was hidden in the back of the fridge. We had two shots and a beer. I blacked out and was found on the side of the road. I have drank far more and never had this problem. After talking to other people in nashville, it seems drugging there is a common occurrence. This place should be shut down as it is dangerous to our community

Motown monday is amazing! $5 cover and just really lovely vibes. I will say that one of the bouncers (the person taking the money) was horribly unpleasant to pretty much every person that they spoke to. I am assuming they were just really tired/fed up from work but was just incredibly disrespectful to many of my queer, POC and young friends. Very much fostered a hostile vibe initially but the overall atmosphere, kind bartenders, good music, and tasty drinks made up for it. So just a word of advice; if the person taking your money is a person with dark short hair and glasses, they will assume you are an incompetent idiot/drunk person (especially if you are a fem presenting person) and make you feel like crap. I noticed their anger/frustration was mostly towards young folks (like freshly 21 and early 20s) and I am assuming they were just trying to set a precedent of "don't eff off around here". Regardless, if you have anxiety and behavior like that makes you feel triggered, stay strong, be as kind/respectful as you can, and keep your head up! Still had a good night despite this person's heinous energy. Peace and love!

Had a great time at the 5 Spot last Friday night. Saw Tim Carroll and he ROCKED! The drinks were top-quality, very generous pour. Had the chicken wings with fries and they were DYNOMITE! I will definitely be back. This place has a nice vibe and being so close to 5 Points, it's very easy to park & walk to the venue. A great mix of young and old enjoying the rock & roll!

Funk Night Nashville proved to be a disappointment and poor investment. DJ exhibited an excessively snobbish attitude coming across as a typical hipster. Outlandish because he had numerous mixing and transition issues throughout the event.

This is such an amazing music venue and bar. It's atmosphere and service are reason enough to go there, but the owners were a driving force behind sustaining so many music venues during the Covid pandemic. We're lucky to have people like Travis Collinsworth that are willing to selflessly fight for so many others.

Came for a Lightnin 100 event. It was filled with tons of people, but they have plenty of standing room and a handful of tables with stools to choose from. Tons of beer choices to choose from with good prices. The downside was that the female restroom was flooded.

Have you heard of Motown Monday's? Well if not, let me tell you about it... you may have been born in the 90's, maybe even the early 2000's but let me tell you, you know a LOT of Motown and it's the best music for dancing. Yes it's a DJ, and yes you're in Nashville, but this place is worth it! You'll see amazing dancers pick up and jive with folks they never knew and your jaw will drop to the floor. How did they do that move? How are they so well coordinated? Impressive doesn't begin to describe the dancing at 5 spot. If you're in need of a break, head to the back patio for some fresh air and a moment to think to yourself, but then lace up your shoes and get back up there because this will be the best Monday night you've had in a long time!

My life is like a series of ADHD moments. You got into one thing with a good intention and then it snowballs into something completely different than the direction you were going for. This is exactly what happened to me on Monday night when I was sitting in the Starbucks near my home where my complete was open ready to do homework. The guy next to me at said Starbucks started talking to me about one thing and we landed on the subject of swing dancing. He told me that dancing was going to take place that night at The 5 Spot. I had never heard of it nor did I know of its dancing. I had only been swing dancing at one spot so far here and though I enjoyed it, I was looking for something that offered something more. I considered going to Brentwood, but it is my understanding they are a bit of a more babyboomer crowd. I love dancing with them, but I enjoy a mix of all ages versus it being lopsided in the aging of dancers. I packed up my laptop, ran home to change and off I was to The 5 Spot. I arrived before 9pm where I got free entry. After 9, it costs to enter and dance. They call it Motown Mondays, but truly is a mix of all genres from the 50s to 70s. They offered more traditional swing and rock n roll until 10:30pm before turning it up to some other stuff. I loved it. The crowd evolved with the music. Once the swing dancing music concluded, many of those people dispersed and a new type of crowd appeared. It was extremely lively and fun. Everyone had a great time, especially me! I didn't leave until nearly midnight. This was on a Monday, too, as I said! Drinks were reasonable. I didn't have anything, however, after talking to a few fellow dancers and getting to know them - they vouched that the bartenders served up some booze heavy pours. All drinks are under $10. Parking might be a bit painful, but if you get there early like me - you won't have any issues. Just leave all valuables in the trunk of the car or leave them at home since they really do not have a place for you to store them. What to wear - wear comfortable shoes! Ladies typically wear weekend attire or period clothing of the era of swing dancing. I personally always wear a dress with leggings because if I am spinning around, I sure don't want any of my stuff being shown. Guys wear jeans usually or slacks along with a casual shirt or button down. Again, this vastly depends on how deep you are into the swing dancing scene. People later in the evening wore clothes that were more suited for going out than for deliberate dancing like the earlier crowd. This particular night I went, they did have a DJ. This would seem pretty obvious from the above statements, but the 5 Spot does have live music as well. I look forward to when I will have the chance to check that out and dance to them. 5 Spot, I look forward to you becoming my weekly habit!

I used to love this place, but the craftsmanship on the outdoor bar is a total disaster...uneven cuts on the lumber?! How can I trust these people to make my drink correctly?! I doubt I'll ever come here again until my gig next Tuesday

Popped in for Sunday Night Soul and was not disappointed. The band was amazing! Next time I'm in Nashville, I'll definitely be returning.

One of the beautiful things about Nashville is the live music ! I love that is a smoke fee place so you can enjoy it without feeling the smoker heaviness and smell. The cover was $10 and the show was great that night. They have a full bar and also they had a food truck but you can make the orders at the bar and pick it up at the food truck outside. It's a great venue to enjoy some music and maybe do a little dance is you feeling it too.

Motown Mondays at The 5 Spot in Nashville was the highlight of my entire Nashville trip! I know, I know... when in Nashville I am supposed to listen to the plethora of still undiscovered country singers on Broadway Ave and appreciate the lyrical geniuses strumming their acoustic tunes on songwriters nights. But I absolutely loved my night dancing away to Motown Mondays at The 5 Spot! The DJs had the entire club on the dance floor all night! What I loved the most was that the crowd was so diverse. Nobody was pretentious (like some of the other bars and clubs I went to in Nashville) and everyone only cared about having a good time. Highly, highly recommend Motown Monday and live music nights at The Five Spot if you are looking for a good night in Music City USA!

In town for a wedding and we all got together for a drink the night before. extremely rude waitstaff, overpriced warm drinks, and service that took forever. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I loved this little venue. It is not in the chaos of downtown, but also not so far away from lots of things going on. The night I went was a 90s coverband. There was a cover at the door ($10) but it supposedly was a fundraiser to get women into music, so I was fine paying it. We got there moderately early and there was plenty of space. I can imagine it gets packed for more popular artists. The drinks were shockingly cheap and bartenders were super easy going and nice. Bathrooms weren't the cleanest, but what do you expect from a divey venue. The venue is small enough to feel intimate, but not too small that it holds enough people. Would recommend catching a show, even if you don't know the person playing.

Great place for a fun night out! It's located in East Nashville, far away from the craziness of Broadway downtown. I recommend coming for Motown Monday (starts at 10 pm basically every Monday of the year). Cover is $5, they play all the greatest hits, and there's ample space to dance the night away.

This place is rather eclectic with the music. Nothing outstanding to remarkable about this bar. The sound system is great. Nice back patio. Parking is a bit challenging. Bathroom could use a good cleaning and the painting of Elvis is rather creepy. The menu was posted in the bathroom. Lol. A bit expensive for drinks. The music was good from the first band. The second band needed a lot more practice. Not up to Nashville standards by any means. For a cover charged bar, I'd expect better. The doorman was t very pleasant. The bartender worked his butt off. Not really a favorite spot for me. We will probably try it again sometime with vetting the bands prior to going.

I drank some vodka here. I drank some vodka here after I drank some vodka elsewhere. I listened to a really solid country band here. The bass player was pretty sick. I dig hearing about venue history, acts that played there... stuff like that. Interesting! East Nashville is pretty cool, if I lived in Nashville, I'd probably hang there often. Woot!

On our last night in Nashville, my wife and I stopped by The 5 Spot on $2 Tuesday to check out some live music. All of the staff at The 5 Spot were really friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced. We showed up at around 8:30 since that was when the music was supposed to start. In reality, it was more like 9:30 - 9:45, and I get the feeling that is how it normally goes. I would probably recommend showing up around then if you want to see the live music. In the mean time, we had some drinks at the bar and ordered some food from the taco truck they have outside the venue. The food was the only disappointing this about this bar. We ordered some chips and salsa and what we received in exchange for our $4 was basically a small handful of cheap store-bought tortilla chips and a thimble's worth of cheap store-bought salsa. You should definitely get food from somewhere else before coming here. Despite the music starting late and the food being underwhelming, the excellent music performances made the whole experience at The 5 Spot worthwhile. All of the acts that we saw were incredibly talented and fun to watch. We would highly recommend checking out $2 Tuesday. Just show up late and eat somewhere else.

My experience here can only be described as one word, "Motown." I came here during Motown night and it was worth it. I usually go out clubbing, listening to a lot of pop or EDM, based on my group of friends that night. Having a night with Motown, was quite refreshing and gave a break to the ridiculous fist-pumping in the air. I believe it starts at 10 pm and the cover charge is $5. In addition, if you need a break from the dancing there is an outdoor backyard people can go out and take a break with a smoke or a bottle of beer.

This place is soooooooooooo much fun!!! I swear I've never had as much fun as I've had in the bar. The bartenders are super nice and the drinks come out great. I happily paid my $200 tab because I was thoroughly entertained . I will definitely be coming back to this place every time I'm in Nashville. Thanks for the good time 5spot

My partner and I had came here randomly walking around five points and was not disappointed. We had a chance to see local funk group called Funk Good Time which was absolutely amazing. They really know how to pump the crowd up. In addition the crowd was quite diverse with all ages and ethnicities. I had an amazing time there and would definitely go back. At the time when I went I had to pay cover but regardless I would recommend

No complaints. It's a live music spot which I like. Patrons seemed to be nice enough. This particular night, there was no cover charge. They have alcohol too.

Local bar with artists from the area coming to play their tunes. $10 cover at the door, which seemed fine given the band and crowd. Was out with a group of friends, and then insulted one of them by a bartender who decided not to serve because she wasn't quick to make the order. He then proceeded to tell the other bartenders not to serve her, and that we would all be kicked out if he found she had a drink. Reaction was extreme, and didn't work to de-escalate anything. Needless to say, we didn't stay after that, and didn't get to hear much of the great music this place is known for. Underwhelmed....

This place is just old school and cool. I honestly wish they allowed smoking here because it would remind me of the way neighborhood bars used to be in the 90's (and probably before, but I was not old enough to get in). This is not a trendy place (thank God) so you don't have to get all dressed up and there is not fancy food or crazy prices. Just come as you are and hang out with other people that have come as they are to listen to some great live music. I have been there twice, both on Saturday nights. The other night, the Mark Robinson Band was playing and they are a fun Blues Band. The sound was great. The time before was older country music and it was also fantastic. I am looking forward to trying the Friday night 80's dance party which is the first Friday of the month, I believe. The food was "popcorn only" the two nights that I was there...microwaved in a bag....so that could get better, but there was only one person bartending and doing the popcorn, so I get it. I heard there is a food truck sometimes. They pour good drinks, so can't complain. There is a cover charge so be ready!

Here for funky music $10 cover Bring id Wow we came for a show on Saturday night and was suppose to start at 9pm but it was 1030 and hasn't started yet! They were still trying to set up and it was for funky music yet since it was Cinco de mayo -- they were just playing the "themed" music. We waited until 1030 and realize that they were stalling this whole time. My local friends love this place and took us here because they usually come on Sundays and they were as outraged and thrown off as we were that this was acceptable.

I love a good dive bar with live music. However having a unfriendly bartender is the worst. Came here after dinner to see live music, paid cover, came to bar for drinks. Bigger guy with red hat and glasses was the rudest dud of a bartender. Asked how his night was going, his response was what do you want. Ordered 4 drinks, including a dos amber, brought me a dog fish where I responded is that for me. His response, well not anymore....ummm wtf smile and listen. Band was boring, crowd was not entertained. Moved onto next venue....keep trying.

Finally. I finally had the chance to check out The 5 Spot. I don't know what took me so long. Actually, I do. I kept hearing so many people rave about it but I was dubious that it could live up to the hype. I mean, it's a 'dive bar' in the 5 Points area of East End. *Obviously* this is going to be a hipster nightmare wrapped up in a pretentious pita. Obviously. Obviously wrong. The 5 Spot is as fun as advertised. It's one of the few places in Nashville (sadly) that welcomes all types at once and endeavors to have a great time with everyone present. The easily navigable website let's you know who's playing (or, spinning) when so you can come check out live music in a wonderful environment on your time. My out-of-town buddies and I stumbled into the Spot on a Saturday night when a band a couple of my friends were excited to see was playing. $5 a man is all it took to walk in and enjoy ourselves. While it has a dive bar aesthetic, I wouldn't call The 5 Spot, a dive bar per se. For one, I wasn't afraid of catching hepatitis or getting a staph infection from a seat when I sat down. Hygiene goes a long way. Secondly, the folks behind the bar are nice. Like, they're *really* nice. To wit, I saw (and, received) non-ironic smiles. Plus, they serve $2 draft beer (Honky Tonk) and $5 hooch (Peechy Keen). Done and done. But, the door girl was pretty rude (like, scary mean) so maybe that helps the dive cred? There's plenty of tables, shared and perimeter seating so post up where you please. One of my musician buddies took some umbrage with the sound set up. He complained that the performers couldn't hear themselves but I am much too far away from that world to remember whether or not I agreed. Plus, I don't know if that's an issue with the venue or with the band. The good thing is that if you get hot, bored or the music isn't too your liking, you can venture outside. The 5 Spot has a brilliant, enclosed outdoor space with food truck-adjacent realness, patio benches and a bar. *Some*body was thinking ahead when s/he planned this place and I thank hir for it. The 5 Spot is as good as advertised and if you haven't been, you're wasting time. I know. I was. Check the site, find an act you want to see/hear and get yourself over to one of the more enjoyable venues in the metro. You'll dig it. Promise.

East Nashville is known locally for being gritty and authentic. Let it be said that no finer microcosm of Music City's eastern branch exists than the 5 Spot--at least not from what I can tell. The 5 Spot consistently stages entertaining and energetic live shows featuring local as well as nationally recognized acts. The sound, run by co-owners Todd and Travis, is nearly flawless, and the atmosphere is about as comfy as it gets without betraying the label of "dive bar." While space is limited, there's just enough room for a relatively recognizable band to play one of their more intimate shows. Most shows at the 5 Spot feature up-and-coming and established Nashville acts typically of the rock or country persuasion. Nestled neatly in the Five Points district, locally known as the "Bar Hole," the 5 Spot is located just a stone's throw from some of the best bars on the East Side. The food and drink selection, though it isn't extensive, is just enough to slake your thirst and subdue your hunger while providing some variety. With shows nearly every night of the week, the 5 Spot is a good bet for some genuine East Nashville fun.

Hipsters and rockers unite to drink cheap beer and dance to good music! Sometimes you can park in the lot across the street, sometimes you have to stick to the street. Sometimes there is a mobile taco stand out front, sometimes there isn't. Sometimes there is live music, oh, and get this, sometimes you have to dance to the speakers. But, no matter what music is playing, you're probably ganna have a good time! There may not be a lot of decorations but this is a no frills, heavy drinking kind of place. Come on in, sit at the bar, order a drink that is never watered down, and look around. There is a stage and a pool table, a big TV always playing some awesome movie, and plenty of seating. The best thing about this place, besides the fact that they carry my favorite vodka, is that everyone is welcome here. Dress up, dress down, who cares... just wear your dancing shoes because every night is a party. Warning - minimal cash is needed because there is usually a cover but the bar takes cards!

Total dive, but in a good way. "Motown Monday" swing dancing is super fun. Starts a little slow but many locals come and almost everyone is there to dance (vs drink and watch). Would definitely come back!

The 5 Spot is pretty much your standard music venue. They have a full bar which is great. The stage is small but big enough for most local acts. You can crowd close to the band or sit back at one of the tables with friends. One of my favorite features is the light over the pool table which is made out of an old drum kit. I think the best part is weekly (usually Wednesday or Thursday nights) they have folky jam sessions for anyone who wants to bring in a guitar or banjo and join in the fun. The first night there I met a local guy who makes custom mandolins. So when your favorite local band has a gig there be sure to come by; or if you're not familiar with the local scene (shame on you) or terribly impatient just drop in because they have music almost every night.

I think I love this place so much because it reminds me of my old spot back in Long Beach, CA, Alex's Bar. But it's much more unique and houses so much undiscovered talent! This, my friends, is quintessential Nashville!

Motown Monday's after swing is five stars dance party. Be prepared to twist. Nice crowd and mid priced beers.
