My husband and I were visiting (from the west coast) my best friend who just recently moved to Cape Coral and knowing that we liked tiki bars and drinks, we came to Jungle Bird. Upon walking up, it had a courtyard past the front bar where it split into 3 different areas: on the right, more of the sit down restaurant, in the middle was an outdoor bar, and on the left was an indoor bar. Everything was decorated really pretty with great signage. We decided to sit at the bigger outdoor bar under the tiki at the front out by the street (across from housing, which seemed like a strange location for a tiki bar).
I will preface the rest of this review by saying that my husband and I have been to a lot of authentic tiki bars all over the country and in Florida. So we were excited and curious to see how this one compared. As we looked at the tiki menu, we saw some classic tiki drinks, as well as some newer modern type tiki drinks. I ordered the Banana Hammock and honestly can't remember what my husband ordered, I believe it was Jungle Bird. But we were disappointed to see that the drinks did not actually come out in the mugs/glasses that they were shown in on the menu (typically they do). When they came out in very general tiki mugs, that was a bit of a bummer. My husband thought his drink was okay, and mine was pretty good. My friend ordered the Roasted Elote Dip, and it was good (the wonton chips were the best part).
I was torn between giving this tiki bar a 3 or 4 star because they say that they are an authentic tiki bar... it just didn't really seem like one to us. It could've just been any other bar for all we knew. Not sure if the other bars in the back were any different. But overall it was just really okay, just didn't stand out enough :(
