Family-owned since 2004, La Botana leans regional and from-scratch. Winston-Salem Monthly spotlighted its molcajete; regulars swear by the salsas, vegetarian options, and house horchata.

Excellent food! Can’t wait to try several other options from the huge menu! Lots of pescatarian, gluten friendly, vegetarian, keto, and paleo options. Tons of veggies available, everything is very fresh, and excellent flavor in the sauces. Service and atmosphere were great. You can tell the ladies running this place are a great team.

Google
This is steak fajitas. I ate the two pieces of steak and two strips of pepper. THESE ARE ALL ONIONS. I showed the waitress and she looked at wide eyed and did nothing about it. I don’t think she spoke any English. But I see some people like this place, but it was an embarrassment to go with a friend here at my suggestion. Makes me suspicious as to what they are really doing back in the kitchen. Decent atmosphere but would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Check the sanitation rating.

I have not eaten here in years. Only because our shop moved to Robinhood and it was no longer convenient. I got the grilled chicken and avocado salad no dressing just squeezed a lemon to go. It was so amazing. I left nothing to take picture of.

I was going to dine in but had to change my plans and take it to go. While there, the service was very good. Nice, relaxing vibe. I love the art work on the walls and everywhere you look. The food! The food was very good too. 👍👍

We used to go to this Mexican Restaurant for years & after they down sized the restaurant it has been horrible ever since. It's been over a year since I've been & I thought we would get it another try. It's still awful. Rice is larger size rice and very mushy. AVP, Cheese sauce has no flavor whatsoever. Everything is just bland. Waitress did not check on us.I had to get up three times and asked her for refills, more chips & salsa. Will not be going back!

I’m rarely fully satisfied with the atmosphere, price, portion, service, and quality of food at a restaurant and La Botana had it all. I remember coming here as a kid, but the vibe has changed majorly! The service was top notch—a perfect blend of attentiveness but not being “too much.” The food came out very quickly despite the restaurant being pretty busy. I came saying I would order a marg and cheese and chips and left having ordered an app, two handcrafted cocktails, and an entree. I’m new to vegetarianism and was worried about what I could get at a Mexican restaurant that would be spectacular, and I’m happy to say I was torn between three dishes (and I’m picky)!!! I went with the Burnt Cheese San Adrian and ate every bite. Thank you La Botana crew for an awesome experience!!!

We were on our way to hit up the big box store down the street. We needed fuel to maintain sanity as we enter the shoppers' gauntlet. I had the Monster Wet Burrito. So big, cheesy, and loaded with deliciousness. My Bonita Esposa had the Carnita de Oregano. Sided with beans and rice. Both meals were a lovely Mexican delight. With a belly full of fuego, we were ready to tackle the shoppers.

**************************************** Actually this place is good, I'd recommend it to people looking for nice mexican food. Has outdoor seating which is nice. The menu had good options and the food was really good, both quality and quantity for the price. They even have deal days where the food options that day are very affordable. This place could've got a 5 star from me but the only thing of concern is the chips that they provide didn't look like they were cooked in fresh oil because they smelled like that. So I believe that's not too good if you're running a restaurant, and that had me thinking about food entire time but their presentation, welcoming staff, service and ambience was very nice that makes it a reason for 4 stars at the very least. ****************************************

Yelp
We absolutely love this place, to us it's the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Winston Salem. My go to is the Chicken Dark Mole' sauce from the state of Guerrero, made from a variety of dry fruity aroma chilies, hints of coffee, prunes, chocolate & other ingredients. This dish is pure heaven for me, the taste of chocolate, coffee & spices is amazing. My wife gets the Steak & Bacon tacos, which isn't on the menu now but is still offered. The restaurant is smaller now, but the atmosphere is awesome as you can see in the pics. Please come and try this amazing restaurant and see their diverse menu with such unique selections, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The food was amazingly good. Transplant from California- First GOOD Mexican restaurant I've had locally. (Others may have full parking lots, but the food is quite marginal ). Fresh ingredients inventive menu. Friendly staff.

Yelp
I don't know why this place isn't rated higher. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant in Winston--and I love Mexican food. They have a huge menu, and a ton of vegetarian options, which is nice for Catholics on Fridays. Their drink (cocktail) menu has fun of variants of the classics. The decor is really authentic as is a lot of the food. It's a small building so I'm hoping they don't get too popular, else there'll be nowhere to sit!
google avatar

Yelp
I am so impressed at the vegetarian menu selection! There are multiple options, which did not feel like permutations of the same dish. The staff was attentive and fast with service. They customized dishes according to my liking, which I appreciated. Food quality was excellent. Chips and salsa felt fresh, as did the chimichangas we ordered. Located in a strip mall, so parking was abundant and easy. Clean restaurant. Overall will definitely return.

Yelp
*| La Botana |* Yall know I love a good routine and tradition and La Botana is one of our weekly traditions. @marybethhaglund introduced us to this gem and I'm forever grateful for the many meals we've shared here. La Botana opened its doors in 2004. July and Rigo Herrera Velasqez created La Botana as a way to share a part of their culture through food. Their menu takes inspiration from different states of Mexico: Nuevo Leon, Jalisco and San Luis Potosi. Heritage and pride is at the core of everything they create. Catch us here twice a week enjoying their robust mole and tangy huitlacoche tacos.

Yelp
How can you mess up Mexican food this badly??! It sucks. The burrito was the size of a rolled taco. The cheese dip was like $7 for 1/4 of a cup of dip. The rice had a horrible metal taste. No dressing for Mt salad. Frozen margaritas are $5 more than one on the rocks. The beans were more like soup. We barely touched our food...ended up at McDonald's afterwards.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Terrible food. Terrible service. No English. Good atmosphere Here is the dish I ordered. All onion. Tell them. They dont offer to replace it.

Yelp
This will always be one of my favorite Mexican places in the area, mostly because of the incredible vegetarian menu! We stopped by late Saturday afternoon and got seated right away: greeted with warm chips and salsa. Salsa is not too spicy but very fresh tasting, and service is always fantastic. We started with the vegetarian queso fundido: wow! Soy chorizo to my heart. At first we were worried the queso was thin, but as soon as we mixed that baby, OH MY GOODness. Salty, spicy, cheesy, and a perfect compliment to the chips and salsa. We were so excited to try the newer vegetarian options and they didn't disappoint: I got the Brussels chimichanga and hubs got the bok choy chimichanga. What's wild: they were both so different flavor profiles! Mine was a spicy mix of pintos, veggies, perfect potatoes and tomatoes, topped with a white cheese and what looked like a tomato/chili crisp. INCREDIBLE: spicy savory and just full of homey love. The bok choy one had that incredible soy chorizo again: again full of veggies but a more chorizo profile. 10/10 both. Always a chill and kind atmosphere: never feel rushed always feel welcomed.

Yelp
I really debated leaving a review about this but I do think when an experience is bad enough to sour you on a place you were formerly excited about then you should share. I was excited to take my mom to La Botana because they have an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu and as I'm a long time vegan, it's made it hard for us to go to Mexican restaurants together since they can be so hit or miss with veg food. In this case, she ordered vegan fajitas and I ordered two mushroom tacos minus the cheese. Straight out the gate, I wasn't super happy that my 'side' of pinto beans was in like a ketchup sized cup. They're not truffles, they're pinto beans and without an actual side of them you're paying 6 dollars a piece for small tacos without any protein. But I thought, we're paying more for supporting a local, community, authentic, family place, right? But the real problem was the fajitas. After almost 13 years vegan and 2.5 vegetarian before that, I have eaten a LOT of veggie fajitas. What I've never had happen is have someone bring out fajitas that proceed to steam and smoke for a full 5 minutes (as in I was done with most of my tiny tacos before my mom could take a bite). When I say smoke, I mean BURN, as in we could see and smell the veggies on the skillet burning. If you were at home you would have tipped them out of the pan onto a plate before they were ruined and smoked up your kitchen, level of burning. In a restaurant, she tried to used her fork to stir them to keep minimal veggies from blackening and even poured some of our extra red salsa on to try and cool them. My mom doesn't like to make a fuss and she really didn't want them to remake it and just throw her food away (no chance of that, just wait) so she didn't say anything. But I was so disappointed that I called over a waitress who called over a manager? Owner? I don't know and tried to explain that the skillet was brought out too hot and her veggies burned black. I tried to emphasize like, I KNOW the point of fajitas is they came out sizzling in a skillet but they're not supposed to burn black as you sit there! The woman goes to the back (?) and then comes back and proceeds to look me in the eye and kind of shrug and say that the kitchen says that's how supposed to be, it's hot. Like....what? We paid 17 dollars for a blackened burned skillet of veggies, half a cup of plain black beans and rice, and a lettuce leaf with a tablespoon of guac and a slice of tomato that is called "guacamole salad." My mom finished as much of the veggies as she could as the wait staff kind of avoided our table until we asked for a check, which still had everything on it because of course blackened fajita veggies are normal. I could have about cried because with us splitting a margarita it was a 50 dollar meal, when we could have gotten more and better for half as much as chipotle. And also because now I'm bummed that I just genuinely don't want to go back after such a bad experience.

Yelp
This corner strip mall location is a pleasant surprise!! The menu selections all sounded delicious. It was hard to choose something. The service and ambiance were both excellent. The food was so delicious. Fresh ingredients, authentic flavors. Breakfast and lunch items. I cannot wait to go back to have lunch again.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that this has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in town and the rating is based on my most recent experience. Their menu is the most unique and authentic to Mexican cuisine. The margaritas were very watery and were a disappointment. Their chips were fresh, thick and crispy (loved them) and the salsa was very flavorful. The chunky guac was basic. I had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce- The mole sauce was incredible. But the dish as a whole disappointed as the chicken was just boiled without any flavor. The steak tacos were average with the grilled cheese being the best part of it. I have had much better experiences in the past with my favorite dish being their 7 chiles ACP (order at your own risk as it is very very hot). This time I was expecting more and left disappointed.

Yelp
I decide to stop in this small restaurant for lunch. It has been several years since I tried the food here. I was quickly seated, and a menu and salsa & chips follow soon after that. The place is small, and there is constricted feel here. I settled on the Carnitas Verde and a Modelo Especial to drink. The carnitas were in chunks and tender, but lacked the traditional outside crust. The verde sauce was thin and rather bland. The beans were whole and under-seasoned, salt and a bit of hot sauce were needed. The rice was ok. The house made hot sauce was really good, plenty hot. The Avocado slices were fresh and flavorful. This is a noisy place even when few tables are occupied, with much of the noise coming from the kitchen area in the form of much shouting and banging, not especially relaxing. A rather ordinary Tex-Mex meal, doubt I'll find my back here.

Yelp
Tried out La Botana tonight and was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of their menu. This is not your standard run of the mill Mexican restaurant. They have a TON of unique options to choose from including an extensive vegetarian selection as well as vegan options. I ended up getting the Mucho Queso Combo, the sauce was very flavorful and had a nice heat to it. My only complaint would be that my poblano did not have the core removed so it was a little bit on the seedy side. Overall it was a tasty dish and you can tell that it was made fresh. One uncommon part of their menu that I wanted to highlight was their early bird menu. They have a lot of lower priced options if you come a bit earlier for dinner which I think is great!

Jackie J.

Yelp
Great food, small place but wonderful decor and awsome staff. Large portion sizes, great selection.

Yelp
Food was great as usual. Molcajete was excellent. Best in town. My wife had burnt cheese tacos with spinach and mushrooms and loved it. Not the typical Mexican restaurant. It takes time to get your order but is worth it.

Howard R.

Yelp
Wonderful, unique chef delivered cuisine. Yes they have tacos and burritos and fajitas but explore the menu more. Truly unique and delicious entrees. We eat there often. Staff is warm and welcoming. It's small so either get there early or expect a short wait. But totally worth it.

Yelp
We've passed this place several times but never around dinner time. Stopped this evening and we were delighted. Clean, bright, nicely decorated restaurant with a good health board score. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Chips were warm and fresh and accompanied by a good fresh salsa. We had a couple of different enchilada dinners and they were both very good. Best refried beans that we've had in this area. Prices were quite reasonable. We'll be back!

John C.

Yelp
I guess it had been longer than I thought since I had been in this joint. Half the size it used to be; the other dining room is now being made into another store? Are they under new management? Totally different and way overdone menu too, but I should have realized something was up when there was no Mexican beer on tap. My food was good, just not great and certainly not the style of what I remember from visiting on the regular around a decade ago.

Yelp
Stopped in last Wednesday for lunch with some friends. It had been forever since I'd been in so I was excited. It felt like they had done up the inside and they had some delicious sounding specials. I ended up going for the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. Can't wait to go back to try more.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my gosh. It has been years since I have been there and we were faithful going every week. We stopped going during Covid and then we decided to check it out yesterday and boy it did not disappoint. Their menu is so diverse and so much more than Mexican they have a keto and Paleo section, their soups look amazing. I feel terrible that I did not take any pictures. My daughter got the Molay and I got the enchiladas with chicken and beef with a spicy sauce. I will find out the name. if you haven't been in a while please do yourself a favor and go back

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about LaBotana so I figured it was time to finally give it a shot! After getting in and reviewing the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to find daily early bird specials that run until 6:30. I got there just in time and enjoyed one of the specials of the day, the chicken enchiladas verdes with rice. Everything was cooked to order and came out fresh and the wait was not long considering. The restaurant itself was a nice - I really liked that they have an outdoor patio for seating. I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu.

Yelp
The Food Wasn't Good,Very Bland. CUSTOMER SERVICE Was GREAT! They do need to be a little more specific when your given the order to what comes & doesn't come w the meal. Versus being charged for something that comes w your order"WHEN IT WAS LEFT OFF MISTAKING & still charged for the item

Matthew S.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in NC. Truly a family restaurant the service is so nice. It's slow and they make it from scratch so be nice. Options for even the worst food allergies/dietary restrictions. Actually spicy when you want it. We come all the time never had a bad experience. Just don't come in a hurry. Tried all kinds of stuff, all of it good.
google avatar

Yelp
They have renovated and downsized a bit but the place still looks great with indoor and outdoor seating. They've done the bar area up nicer. With more drink options. Always good! Still nice and busy and great service Just note this is still not your standard Mexican place where you food comes out quickly. They do take a little longer but it's well worth it. I had a fabulous mojito, freshly made and lots of lime and mint just like I like it! My friends had the specialty margaritas and were also fabulous . 3 of us got the special of the night for $7.99 which was great. Enchiladas verde. Shredded chicken and green sauce and rice and beans. Great deal. I think my drink cost more !!! Lol. One other deal was $6.50 and smaller portion but till good amount of food. She got a chicken quesadilla, black beans and French fries! Their chips and salsa are still great too. Their food is by far still one of my favorites in town. Glad they are still doing so well. Great place to go before the movies nearby.. which is what we did!

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite places in all of Winston. If you want a similar stuff to most other places in town, you'll find it. You'll also find the best vegetarian menu featuring squash blossom Quesadillas, pineapple tacos with grilled cheese on top. The Mole is excellent- you can taste the fruitiness of the chiles with just a little heat, absolutely worth cleaning the plate. They always have great drink specials and the street tacos are perfect if you don't feel like branching out. Genuinely no idea why you would get Mexican food anywhere else, ALWAYS love it here. They update their Instagram with specials and any closures given that it is a small restaurant.

John N.

Yelp
Went this week for first time and disappointed. Wife ordered Chicken Fajita Quesadilla and I ordered Enchiladas en Pipian. Flavor OK, but not fabulous and portions looked liked kids' meals. Wife's "quesedilla" was like a small taco, folded not grilled and cheese virtually non-existent; my enchiladas were like 2 miniature tacquita rolls - combined not even close to what I am use to for single. Was hoping for better.

Yelp
We couldn't decide what to eat today. We don't get to Winston Salem very often and drove around for a while and we spotted this little Mexican place. It is a small family owned business. There isn't a lot of seating but what seating there is, is comfortable. They advertise homemade Mexican food. The staff wore masks and I wish I could tell them not to but they were wearing them anyways. We were seated properly and our order was Promptly taken. The chips and salsa we're good. The salsa have an excellent flavor heavy on the garlic and cilantro and just the right amount of space. The staff was friendly and efficient our food came to order I ordered a lunch special of chicken soup and a salad. My wife ordered lunch portion of Verde enchiladas and my daughter ordered a ACP. The wait time on the food was minimal considering that things were they fresh. The soup was awesome because garnished with avocado and fresh cilantro with a squeeze of lime on the side. My wife's dish looked and smelled great and it actually tasted wonderful the Verde sauce was to die for. And my daughter who is a very picky eater when it comes to Mexican food really love their ACP. This place is really a hidden gem off the beaten path. The food was really good the service was good and the surroundings were comfortable. My only gripe was that either the air-conditioning was being overworked that day or it wasn't working because it was quite warm in the restaurant. This is definitely a place that you're going to want to try.

Maria R.

Yelp
Very fresh food in this quiet little gem of a restaurant. Tucked out of the way from a very busy road, give this restaurant a try.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Not a typical Mexican joint. The salsa has cumin which gives it a really good flavor. Good place to eat but the portions seem a bit small in comparison to other Mexican places.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
The tacos here are amazing. I usually get the diablos and they are delicious. This is the best Mexican restaurant in town if you ask me. It's a little small so it can be hard to find seating inside on a busy night but it's worth the wait. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area. My one gripe with them is their hours are a little wonky.
google avatar

Mikaela B.

Yelp
It had been quite some time since I went to La Botana, but man.. that fried burrito still hits just the same! It looks like they've consolidated the restaurant space a bit, so there's less tables, but not overcrowded. One thing I love about La Botana, is they have some different things on the menu as opposed to just your classic dishes. The fried burritos are the star of their show, in my humble opinion. Crispy tortillas filled with tender meat, smothered in jalapeño cheese sauce! A lot of their meals also come with a sweet tea, which is obviously a win. The salsa is so fresh and chunky, with a bit of spice. Just perfect to me The food here is always fresh, and if you're looking for solid Mexican cuisine with some different options than normal, check them out! They've won Best Mexican Restaurant in Winston-Salem numerous times!

Erika C.

Yelp
Foood was amazing, tacos are the closest to authentic ive had around here! 10/10 for food and 6/10 for drinks.

Yelp
It had been a few years since we had been here. We had tried once before a week ago but they were unexpectedly closed. Whether open or closed no big deal because there are tons of restaurants. We had been to the movies and came here for dinner after. I love the new look and configuration of the place. I realize they shrunk to save costs but honestly the change makes it feel more quaint and love the new tables and booths. More personalized then it's previous look. Menu changed too and I had to stop and explore my options. I saw another reviewer say it has similar fair as other Mexican places but that's not true. There are a few places with unique menus and this is one of them. I dare you to explore some of the menu items and owner specialties. I tried the skinny steak thing - there is a pic and it was spicy but not hot spicy and I really enjoyed it. Wife had fajitas and enjoyed them. Kids menu allowed us to eat here and they had nuggets and fries - sweet. The flan was on point and priced right - yummy. We had a good dinner here - we will be back - glad to see them making it. It was a nice change from just tacos and normal stuff but wasn't too out there - I had to be careful about jalapeño in a lot of dishes but that's ok. Chips and salsa still free but they ask you to not over do it to save room for your meal and keep chips and salsa sustainable. Staff was smiling and very nice - really felt welcoming - 20% tip for that on our $50 bill. Overall - I like the new atmosphere and menu - check it out.

Yelp
Horrible pricing during lunchtime. We stopped by during lunch & had to pay $40 for 2 street meals, no sides or alcoholic beverages lol I couldn't believe it!! Definitely not worth it and wouldn't recommend this place at all!
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican I've had in the area! The street tacos were bomb, as well as the smoked pineapple margarita. Just amazing!
google avatar

Lisa Dawn T.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican in the entire SE! They offer vegetarian/vegan options as well as the staples you know and loe... also they offer items you may not have ever considered, and I have yet to find a single item on the menu that wasn't amazing! They make each order as requested, so don't expect "fast food" because it's not... but if you don't mind waiting for the perfect meal, this family business is not going to disappoint! My husband and I have been eating here since they opened, and it's STILL our favorite for our anniversary celebration and birthdays! Service can be slow, but it's worth wait! We won't eat at any other Mexican restaurant! We also drive an hour each way for the meal... yes, it's that good!

Tawnya S.

Yelp
La Botana was recommended to us from locals. We are vegetarians and loved the large fresh vegetable menu and the handmade cocktail juices / syrups. I had the hibiscus mint margarita to start, which was fruity and delicious and not too sweet. For dinner I had the kale and burnt cheese tacos, which were packed full of delicious veggies. I dream about this taco. To add to the wonderful meal, the service and ambiance was outstanding. Thank you, La Botana... we'll be back many times.

Eduardo R.

Yelp
Very unreliable, today is the 4th time I have come and it is closed, even though it shows open on their web site and their sign at the door. This may be my last try

David E.

Yelp
Excellent meal everything' was fresh and not your typical fare of heavy food with all the same test. Limited number of tables, staff is very friendly.

Kel B.

Yelp
Love it. Best tacos. Awesome. Also, get the chorizo. You need it in your life. The margaritas are strong and good.
google avatar

Beau S.

Yelp
The salsa was very solid with a spicy hint to it. Chips were very crisp and tasty. The menu was really funky. Not your traditional Mexican restaurant menu. The awesome tacos are an example of where the menu separates itself from other joints. The carnitas with the salsa verde were spectacular!! My only knock is the pintos beans were bland and blah. Other than that, we'll be back.
google avatar

Bryce N.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch At La Botany today. Nice outdoor seating for extra distancing. Loved the flavor of both the spicy oregano carnitas and the salsa for chips. Good portion size. Today service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
The atmosphere is welcoming. The menu is somewhat difficult to understand but not impossible. The music volume and selection is comfortable. The food is delicious... and the service, as a new patron, was questionable at best. The polite hostess told me there was a wait so I knew they were busy, there seemed to be just 2 servers and a hostess. Our server was late to say hello but she seemed busy in any case, that could just be pandemic staffing. She also did not do a good job describing what everything was but I would presumed she expected I would just know what an enchilada was. Maybe if I keep coming back I would know how to order. Our sodas were very prompt, our server was ridiculously fast with our first drinks. Perhaps she just wanted me to 'hurry up and order' because she was busy? I am not sure. What we did order at first was good. What I asked was supposed to be my server's choice between my first enchilada as part of a platter or a unique taco I had never seen before. Neither arrived, something else did. Since we had gotten full on what we first ordered I asked to send back the second meal feigning lack of appetite... according to my server refunds are not allowed after the food arrives at the table. So I explained that I was hard-pressed to pay for something I did not ask for. She explained what she thought I had said to her and she had misheard but that was okay! If I was going to pay for my food then I wanted what I was going for. My server walked away, I presumed, to get the right meal made for me. She did not. She came back and explained that she got the food taken off my bill and formulated the stern lesson that if I want the right food then I shouldn't let my server choose. Yup. I left her a 20% tip with a note on her check to BE KIND TO POLITE GUESTS and that is mainly because I was dining with my daughter and wanted to set a good example. I have an ongoing experience in restaurants that is approaching 20 years. They are not prepared to be busy with the staffing they have presently but no restaurant is in a pandemic era and as a customer I can understand that SO... contrary to La Botana's suggestion on their website, I would much prefer to order the food to-go so I can get to the good part of my dining experience with them. The food is AMAZINGLY good, authentic, unique and prepared with care and at least the hostess is nice.

Yelp
The constantly changing hours, constantly changing menu, and rules are too hard to navigate. They close for any reason, any time so if you plan to eat there, have a back up plan. They closed very early on a Saturday night because they ran out of rice. First, how do you run out of rice? Walmart is next door and rice cooks in 20 minutes. Second, serve everything else and just let people know? I have planned multiple group outings to find them spontaneously closed for a birthday, concert, mud run? It's odd. The food is mostly quite good, it's just too stressful

Yelp
Some reviewers mentioned the prices being higher than other Mexican restaurant but I came during lunch and the prices were the same as other places. The lunch menu includes several $4.99 and $6.99 deals that all are severed with tea if you choose another menu item tea is only $1. To eat out and get a beverage for $1 is an incredible deal in itself. The salsa was amazing and tasted very fresh. They are sometimes heavy handed with the onions so if you don't love onions ask for less or none. I had the carne asada lunch and it was more than enough. You do have to pay $.50 for black beans instead of refried beans which wasn't an issue to me. The steak was tender and flavorful. My sister had the ACP and had enough to take a little home and enjoyed it a lot but without onions.

Yelp
Mexican food is one of my favs or a least Americanized Mexican. I had tried to go here in the past but the wait was too long for the fiancé. The main menu is pretty pricey but you will find more creative things than you see at most Mexican restaurants. They do have a specials page with is $10 on all days other than Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. The pricing on their website is not accurate. I went for their large steak taco and it was really tasty. I would get it again. It had grilled onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and a cheese sauce. My fiancé got two small plain ground beef tacos with lettuce, tomatoes, and some guacamole on the side. I do not think his was worth $10 at least nine also came with beans and rice. The service was good but it took a while to get the check. The decor is interesting a mix of what you would expect, old school American ads, and some random signs with funny sayings.

Yelp
It was ok but nothing different from other local Mexican restaurants. They do have a unique drink menu with a smoked pineapple margarita

Yelp
I've had multiple bad experiences at this restaurant, but the food is ok, so I join for lunch sometimes. Their prices for additional items is absolutely insane. I'm actually writing this negative review because they tried to charge me $2 for an extra shrimp on my quesadilla. No, not $2 extra for shrimp, $2 PER shrimp added. Get a grip. The avocado I got today was horrible, and it took them far too long to prepare my quesadilla. The food here is pretty good, but (like I said) I've had bad experiences since the place opened. I decided today was my last visit. Won't be back.

Yelp
Authentic, boutique size, good service....reminds me of some places in TX! If you're looking for a New Mexican restaurant, check this place out!
