Fat Rice, Other Chicago Restaurants Criticized for Music With N-Word | Eater Chicago
"As the proprietor of the Silver Room, a business centered around African-American culture that also organizes the annual Silver Room Block Party, I started a Facebook thread in January about racism in the city’s restaurants that has grown into a wider discussion on playlists, cultural appropriation and gentrification; I’m planning panels at the Silver Room to keep educating and bring more people into the conversation." - Ashok Selvam

It's a unique and different kind of store with unique and one-of-a-kind articles and knick-knacks. If you're looking for a difference and a variety of t-shirts, hats, magnets, posters, and books this is your place in the heart of Hyde Park

Silverroom is a wonderful place for unique and local goods from Chicago! Definitely recommended whether you're in town visiting or a local. There's something for everyone.
There's also a good range of pieces, from more affordable to higher end.

Small store, Some decent looking items just seems like the prices are a bit on the high side. It's nice to check out for a small business.

My family was just stopping in from out of town. The owner was extremely rude to my husband. He loves jewelry and was looking at a necklace in the display case. She(the owner) then came up to him without greeting him or introducing herself and said, “would you just open the display case at Channel?” He then had to tell her it was already opened then point out to her the various customers who were also in display cases looking at items as well. She treated him as he was a criminal when he works as an executive for a Fortune 500 company. HORRIBLE customer service. I would Not have patronized at all if I had known how he was treated but he waited until we got back to the car to say something. I have half a mind to take what I purchased right back.
