"Steve's is our favorite classic pizza spot in Miami, and it all comes down to their sauce. It’s just the right amount of sweet—somewhere between caramelized tomatoes and sugary pasta sauce. The North Miami spot looks like it belongs across the street from a college campus. You can barely see the dark wood under all the graffiti and etchings. Polaroids of regulars are tacked to the top of the kitchen window, where you can see them making huge slices with gooey cheese. We order ours with pepperoni. The place looks like it hasn’t been renovated in decades — stickers dot the booths, Polaroids of beloved customers cover the order counter, and there’s a genuine sense of community that’s hard to find these days. It’s the kind of spot that kept serving the neighborhood during hurricanes, even if it meant doing it by candlelight. The pizza? Classic American style. Doughy crust with some heft, a slightly sweet sauce, and cheese that pools into greasy goodness, whether it’s a classic or Sicilian slice. "Open Until 2am Mon-Thu, 3am Fri-Sat, 1am Mon A lot of people grew up going to Steve’s and now happily return as adults at 2am, even though it’s quite far from the city’s nightlife hubs. This dark little spot in North Miami has an old Ms. Pac-Man game in the corner, polaroids of regulars by the register, and years of graffiti covering the little wooden booths. The pizza is closer to a New York-style slice (paper plates and all) but has a sweeter tomato sauce. "The closest thing to a mural at Steve’s is the random graffiti left by scribbling locals. The next-closest thing to a mural at Steve’s is pizza, which isn’t even close to a mural, which is exactly our point.
