"It’s Tuesday night, you have a glass of wine in hand, and a hush falls over the crowd as the owner of this 130-year-old establishment recites poetry to an eager crowd. A quick interlude, followed by rousing applause, and the conversations pick up where they left off. Welcome to Catine Isola, a historic shop that’s open all day to pick up a bottle or proudly have an 11am pour of pinot. The vintage library setup, complete with rolling ladders, is filled floor to ceiling with rare bottles and new finds. Though a simple plate of Italy’s deli bites comes with your glass of wine, there isn’t food beyond that. The good news: you’re close to all the best dumplings and baos from Chinatown. Bring them back to Cantine Isola's stools and ask the bartender for a pour to match your fall-off-the-bone pork—they know what to do." - Julia Savasta

"This 126-year-old wine shop is located on Chinatown’s bustling main thoroughfare. Although Cantine Isola sells more than 1,500 wines by the bottle, it’s best to stop in and savor the by-the-glass selection while snacking on crostini, charcuterie, and aged cheese passed around by the friendly bar staff. Go early to guarantee a seat before the Milanese masses spill out of the bar into an entire sidewalk scene. Know before you go: Tuesdays are poetry nights." - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

"A Neighborhood Institution Considered by some as a Milan institution, Cantine Isole is a small wine bar/enoteca with a lot of history and great atmosphere. It's located in the Chinatown neighborhood, near Garibaldi station and the Isola neighborhood. Expect a lot of character."
