The 24 Best Restaurants In Melbourne - Melbourne - The Infatuation

"Pipis isn’t just located near the beach. It’s smack-bang on top of it. The restaurant looks like a modest summer bungalow, complete with rattan furniture, linen drapes, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the spectacular ocean view. Service is ultra-relaxed, and the ever-changing menu is unsurprisingly dominated by things plucked from the briny deep. Sydney Rock oysters team with apple mignonette, plump Skull Island prawns are served hot off the barbecue, and blue eye is steamed and served with macadamia-chili crisp. Seats are sought-after, particularly in summer months, so book ahead or get here well before the sun starts to set. Missed out? The takeaway fish-and-chip window is a decent consolation prize for the disorganised." - ellen fraser

Favorite fish and chips kiosk along the beach. Today was first good beach day above 30 degrees C. Fish and chips perfect meal for sunny day. Found a palm tree nearby to sit under. Fish batter has dill and is made to be very crispy while keeping fish juicy inside. There are other fish and chips shops closer but we choose this one for taste.

Great spot for a celebration lunch with the sun and the beach. The appetisers were a standout, including the seaweed sourdough, the asparagus, and the kingfish with rhubarb sauce.

Fish & chips here was the best fish &chips I have ever had. It was $28 but it was big & thick fish! Today, I made a trip to St. Kilda beach on my day off. Interestingly, it was somehow cheaper like $24 but then fish got smaller and thinner. It feels like they used different fish. Quite disappointing honestly. Please bring back the old fish& chips and increase the price again! I will definitely come back then.

Always a treat here. We love this place. If have lots of kids; ask for a table outside. We outnumbered the staff. Sorry Tom and Jordan! They'll get better with more fine dining training 🤣🤣 best place in st kilda for seafood n fish n chips

My partner and I had an awesome lunch at Pipi's, really nice servers with amazing and extremely fresh food with a stunning view. Would highly recommend. Definitely one to add to your melbourne trip itinerary😋👍

By far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fish is moist and juicy and wrapped in the crunchiest batter you’ll ever taste. Grab a takeaway box and it’s just about big enough to share for two. Stunning location to boot.

First photo was from 25/05/25. Second photo was from Oct 2023. The price difference was only $1 if I remember correctly. Fish still tasted amazing. However, very disappointed with the portion. Not only did they have a 10% surcharge on Sunday, which was not explicitly shown anywhere, the size of the fish had shrunk by at least half! And we bought 6 boxes of fish and chips. Shrinkflation is real.
