Chosun Korean BBQ

The staff provided very attentive service- you have options to eat regular or bbq. They had a lovely lunch menu to choose from the regular section that provided the korean food I was craving. The kimchi jeon and seolltang (sorry if i didnt spell that correctly!)- a light broth based soup with beef and glass noodles- were delicious. I also had some different side dishes then from previous establishments. I loved the atmosphere- quiet with popular korean pop playing in the background. A little on the pricey side but worth it.

Went to Chosun for a date night - it was quick to get a grill table for a busy Saturday night. The drinks we're delicious - enjoyed their variety of Soju and really enoyed their wild strawberry cocktail. The banchan were delicious with their fishcakes and kimchi. The combo meat meal we ordered was a good value as we had plenty of leftovers. This is the second time I've come to this restaurant and I've had delicious meals both times.

My sister and I don't make it here often, but at least one or two times a year, and it's always a treat. Quiet, polite, delicious, and never a hurried atmosphere no matter how busy they are (today, not very for lunch, lucky me!). If you're doing BBQ, the portions are huge - we shared bulgogi and an appetizer, and it fed us with leftovers! Right around $20 a person for us before tip, less than that per meal all things considered!

I can’t believe I could have yukgaejang for this price! It was way better than I expected. However, the mackerel and kimchi stew weren’t great. The mackerel was very small and even came out overcooked. I also ordered the steamed egg, but they didn’t control the water well, so it was more like soup than steamed egg. As for the side dishes, I enjoyed them except for the kimchi. If you come here for lunch, I recommend ordering the yukgaejang!

I’m the usual hot soup to-goer when I’m gonna eating by myself. They usually pack the soup very well and pack side dishes for you, so it’s also another option if you would to avoid the smoke from BBQ and just want to relax at home and have some Korean food at home. Last Thursday was my first time dine there after they got remodeled-definitely like the new refresh and modern look more. The service was friendly and quick. I was there with a fiend on a Thursday night at 5:30 pm so the place was not too crazy and smoky which was nice. Would highly suggest to get there early to get nice seating and faster service with not too smoky environment. We had some problem with one of the side dishes and the waiter was very helpful to helped us resolved the issue quickly. We ordered some soup dishes. I got Yukaejang soup (spicy beef soup) and my friend got TTeok Mandi Guk (beef dumplings soup with rice cake). we also got the steamed egg, but it turned out pretty disappointing. I was hoping they might make it right this time (had order that couple times) but unfortunately not. Too much sesame oil flavor that so overpowering the steamed egg instead of delicate and flavorful broth based taste for the Korean steam egg. However, they usually have nice hot soup options, other than the BBQ. The flavors are pretty consistent based on my experiences. Sometimes Kalbi Tong (beef short ribs soup) may be more toward salty side but flavor overall is good. It’s sad that not many Korean restaurants serves other dishes options besides BBQ in town, but if you are craving for some Korean hot soup this will be a nice place to check it out. I tried their Korean hot pots some time ago and they were good. The portion was large enough for a few people to enjoy. Happy dining! Hope these information helps!

I’ve been coming here for a year or so and I’ve NEVER been disappointed. We initially came as an alternative to K-Pot and have not gone back since. We are addicted to this restaurant. The staff knows us and takes special care to make us feel welcome. Vicky specifically helps us every time we come. And if he doesn’t, every other staff member is just as accommodating. 5/5 stars.

Typical Korean BBQ, lots of meat, nice selection of kimchi to start you off with. All the meats seemed decent, the unseasoned ones were plain and could have used some salt. Prices were fine, the $70 combo was way more than 2 people could consume in a sitting. Service was pretty good and everything was clean. Didn't try much that wasn't the basic meats but the menu did have a lot of options.

I went to this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant looked nice and modern. It had good reviews on Google. Unfortunately, I had an absolutely terrible dining experience. We ordered Galbi, beef tongue for grill, galbi tang and Ojingeo-bokkeum (spicy stir fried squid). Marinated Galbi was not flavorful, and was priced $34 for just 2 super thin sliced pieces. Galbi tang and Ojingeo-bokkeum were decent. Banchan wasn’t good at all. We only enjoyed the beef tongue. Speaking of service, nobody really came to our table to see if we needed more banchan or refilled our water. It took a while to flag down our server to change our grill. IMO they are overpriced for not delivering a good food or service.

Chosun Korean BBQ is hands down one of my favorite spots in Overland Park. They have such a wide variety of cuts of meat and authentic Korean dishes to choose from. My absolute favorite **and what I order every single time** is the kimchi jjigae. It is honestly the best kimchi jjigae I've ever had in my life, and I don't say that lightly. I've tried this dish all over the world, and Chosun's version is by far my favorite. Their Banchans are always SO delicious and well portioned. Their cheesy corn: a heavenly experience!! Sometimes it can get very busy, so your best bet might be ordering takeout if you don't want to wait. That said, I really enjoy the dine-in experience too. On occasion, it feels like they're a little short-staffed, but the entire team is always so kind and friendly that it never takes away from the experience. The place is also clean and well-kept, which I always appreciate. Highly recommend Chosun for anyone craving great Korean BBQ or a comforting bowl of kimchi jjigae. My husband and I love this place and will definitely be back again and again

Before I start this review I just want to preface: I'm a snob and I lived in South Korea for a few years. When we first walked in, it took a while to get acknowledged and seated. It wasn't very busy and there was no line to be seated. We both ordered dolsot bibimbap. It did take a while and our bowls did not come to us at the same time. We had only three plates of ban chan. I've been to several Korean restaurants in the Midwest and west coast and I've never had this little ban chan. I was a little disappointed. The dolsot bibimbap was VERY good. I liked it. The price was normal and what I'd expect. Maybe it's better to order Korean BBQ here, but sometimes I just want Korean food.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch. It was not that busy but service was pretty slow. In the end we got all our things but it did take a while to get everything for kbbq. Ended up ordering a hodgepodge of dishes on top of the bulgolgi for table grilling and everything tasted great! Restaurant was extremely clean and well spaced tables and good ventilation.

Food was great! Service was good also. Visited from out of town, 3/4 of the guests were Korean so that told us we were in the right spot! Clean, even though it was busy and the staff was hopping. The banchan were good, and the spicy pork shoulder was also good! Husband got dolesot bibimbap and he thought it was some of the best he's had.

Chosun Korean BBQ is a good Korean BBQ restaurant. There food is good but not great. They were able to accommodate our large and rowdy crowd. The thing that really impressed me was their ability to help our group have a memorable experience. It was my husband's birthday and not only did they let us bring in a cake for him, but they let us store it in their refrigerator while we ate. They then helped us with plates and utensils for the cake. We had a great experience at Chosun Korean BBQ!

Delicious Korean BBQ & A Fun Experience! if you're craving Korean BBQ, you've got to check out Chosun in Overland Park! This spot is not only cozy and inviting, but each table comes equipped with its own grill, making for a fun and interactive dining experience. The menu has a fantastic variety to choose from. We kicked things off with some cocktails and a few appetizers--edamame, fried dumplings (Gun Man Du), and Jap Chae (stir-fried glass noodles with shredded beef). Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. We also couldn't resist trying their cheesy corn and fried rice, both of which were absolutely delicious. For the main event, we opted for one of their meat combos, choosing beef and shrimp, which came with several small side dishes. Grilling the meats tableside added to the experience, and everything was incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. If you're looking for a unique and tasty dining adventure, Chosun is a must-try! Service was prompt and helpful., but I came over lunch on a Friday and there wasn't hardly anyone there. The food was fresh and delicious and authentic! I chose to grill some tiger shrimp and it was amazing. I love the sides you get with it, too. The place was clean and modern. And the amount of food I got for the price was well worth it, especially in today's economy. I will definitely be going back!

Guilty pleasure unlocked. GO CHECK OUT CHOSUN!! They remodeled the inside and it's as cute as ever! I've always loved KBBQ and look forward to cooking my own meats! From the sides the meats to the noodles everything was top tier. The cocktails were also delicious and the perfect pairing to Korean bbq. The meat they served you can tell is a good quality cause it cooked up so nicely and the marinades were perfect. The service was also immaculate- I mean once you ran low on one side they brought you more. Can't wait to come back!

We ate here a few months ago as a group traveling through KC. We stopped here specifically because we heard it was great. Looking back, this was the best Korean BBQ I've ever experienced in the midwest. The meat was not overly fatty but heavily marinated, so it was flavorful and easy to eat. The servers took good care of us too. We had the marinated short ribs and pork shoulder Looking forward to returning.

For the price, you get a lot of meat. Pretty good quality tastes, typical where you pay by what you order and cook yourself. Friendly enough staff. Very chill / basic ambiance.

We had a friend in from Poland who insisted he have Bibimbap while visiting. A group of 12 of us met him there for dinner. This was the first time any of us had been to this restaurant. The restaurant decor is inviting and warm. Felt modern and clean. Our waiter was on top of it. He provided menu guidance, explained many things, and provided great service throughout our dinner experience. My wife and started with Edamame and fried shrimp appetizers. Both were disappointing. The Edamame was plain. No seasoning, no flavor. The shrimp were straight from the freezer case at the local Asian grocery store. And overcooked. We order beef Bulgagi and pork belly. The bulgagi was delicious. Delicate thin and flavorful. The pork belly was bland. I ended up bringing it home and doctored it up. Several in our group liked their food. Others were not impressed. I'll try it again. Not rushing back though as I often do when I like a place.

I've been to many Korean Grills, We ordered the Seafood Hot Pot and Pork Belly to grill. The Hot Pot was very tasty, but the seafood was frozen, dumped into the broth. The squid was rubbery and fish had very little meat. The pork belly was thick cut and not flavor. Spent $ 100 for everything, not a good value for what we got. The meat could have been fresher. I tried it years ago, definitely not the same.

Google got me with this one. It was somewhat authentic but wasn't tasty nor fresh to be honest. Kimchi-jjigae tasted like soy bean jjigae....Ssamjang was watery...(-_-) We ordered C3 combo BBQ and meats were cheap so it wasn't good. They only had plain pork belly so our server said they could bring pork belly "spicy" and just brought Gochujang on the side and called it "spicy" (-_-;) Absolutely disappointed with food quality. We would've gone to other places like KPOT if we knew about the meat quality. Sorry but can't recommend this one to anyone.

Awful, the korean owner it's the worst. Food it's just embarrassing, sweet, salty, using old meat.

I haven't tried any other KBBQ places around here yet, but I hope this isn't the best. It was fine, but I'm not sure if I'd come back. The overhead fan kept making some weird noises. Service was good and attentive, but food wasn't worth the price. Very big, "American" portions except when it came to the meat. Japchae (noodles, $18.99): Heavy on the sauce and possibly overcooked because this was way too soft. My friends liked it so it depends how you prefer your japchae. This can easily serve at least 4 people as an appetizer, possibly more. Pajeon (pancake, $18.99): This was okay. I thought it was too thick, maybe because of the seafood? Again, pretty big portion size. It'd be worth it for the size, but the flavor isn't great. Banchan (included): For some reason, the cucumber was weirdly mushy even though it was my favorite banchan. The kimchi banchan was also pretty flavorful and spicy. It complemented the other oilier foods nicely. Special combo, C3 ($66.99): Good way to try different types of meat, but nothing special. Can serve 3-4 people if you order more than just meat, but honestly this made me want to do KBBQ at home instead. Sundubu (tofu soup, $12.99): This portion was wildly huge for the price. It was fine.

Always great food and nice people! Always busy when I go but it doesn't seem to affect any aspect of their service at all.

If you're looking for decent Korean food in the KC area, here it is. It won't be cheap, the side dishes are lacking (one is sliced hot dog, and they make kimchi out of celery?), and it can be hit or miss, but it's good enough to occasionally fill a hole in my heart for Korean food. BARBEQUE What you must know before coming to Chosun is you're better off choosing individual meats than picking a combo. As shown in the review photos, the combo was one plate of assorted meat + one plate of chadol (thinly sliced prime brisket), which was supposed to feed 3-4 people but would've only filled two people out of out party of four. We ended up ordering three more individual plates of meat, and I wish we would've started with that approach. When added up, the individual plates don't cost much more than the combos, and you can't even compare the difference in portions. Notes: - Cheese corn goes *so* well with kbbq, and Chosun makes it well - Chosun provides salad, rice, (Korean chili paste sauce), and the usual sweet soy sauce and salt/pepper/sesame oil sauce, but no garlic or peppers. Years ago, they used to provide lettuce wraps, but they don't anymore SOUP - Skip the soondubu (spicy seafood soup). Unfortunately, it tastes pretty flat. - The naengmyun (cold buckwheat noodles) is good on a hot day, though the broth definitely needs plenty of mustard and vinegar. Similar story with the dubu kimchi (kimchi with pork and tofu) and the gopchang jeongol (stew with beef intestine and tofu)--decent when you're craving it - Would recommend the yookgaejang (spicy beef soup). The right ingredients and flavors are there, and the portions are great

Best KBBQ around KC! Greater sides, service, and other dishes besides BBQ too. Remodeling looks great. As someone who lived in Korean for 6 months, it satisfies my KBBQ (constant) craving!

Amazing food. Not cheap at all, but super high quality and worth the price. The bulgogi was juicy and flavorful and came with a wonderful side salad perfectly dressed with sweet miso (?). The banchan (side dishes) were delicious and four came with the bulgogi. The packaging was careful with plenty of foil in the styrofoam boxes to ensure minimal leakage which was appreciated. The corn cheese was so deliciously greasy good!!! The kimchi pancake was ungodly expensive at something like $17 but was large and very flavorful. Three items came out to just under $60.

Chosun Korean BBQ on Metcalf. We decided to order off the menu this time, instead of BBQ. We tried the Bibimbap, which is steamed rice topped with a variety of fresh seasoned vegetables beef, and topped with a deliciously pan fried egg. We also got the Gun Man Du, or Pan fried dumplings, stuffed with minced beef, pork, cabbage, chives and tofu served with seasoned soy sauce. Everything was delicious, and the service was fantastic.

There really isn't much else around here so it's hard to compare it to anything else. I guess it will be more of personal rating. On to the food I think it's a bit lacking for what you are paying for. It's quite expensive and the side dishes are kind of lacking. Most just seems like packages from the store. Service wise, I don't blame the servers. They are understaffed and are trying their best. If anything it's on the owners to schedule more people this place will definitely be down to 3 stars if it wasn't for the hard working girls. I'll come back for my kbbq itch some time.

This place used to be one of my favorite Kbbq in KC area for the quality. This is not ayce, but I remember the quality and quantity was much better before covid. We ordered the beef combo for 4. The quantity wasn't enough. The brisket was dry and chewy, you can tell in the pictures that brisket didn't have much fat to be tender. The combo was $101 with less meat this time. Comparing to those local ayce, it wasn't worth the price for the low quality. Service was great, staff checked on us frequently.

I love this place! It is a true Korean BBQ experience where you cook your own food at the table. Ingredients are sublime and always fresh. Such a great place for a food adventure.

I enjoyed eating here and the portions were just right. There was 4 of us and we may have ordered way to much food but we took it home. The seafood platter was a good amount of seafood for less than $40. Their salad is also really good! I just wish they had a better variety of marinated meats/seafood.

It's very expensive here and the food is not very well seasoned. The small sides are okay. Other restaurants have a larger variety that they bring out. The service is fine, but probably because each time we've gone here, there aren't many customers in the restaurant. Probably won't be coming here anymore. Lotus Hot Pot and Grill up near Gladstone has KBBQ too.

**Since 2015, I learned I can't compare KC Korean to LA and adding a star. Solid Korean food and BBQ. The food is consistently good although it's pretty pricey. We actually just discovered that they have a pretty solid lunch menu when dining in during the week. My husband got the bento with galbi, salad, a dumpling and rice while I got the spicy shredded beef noodle soup. The flavors are on point and we will be back!

We did Combo #3 for the two of us, plus the JapChae... it was DELICIOUS! But way too much food for just us 2! The JapChae is listed as an appetizer, but the serving is about 2 entree's worth. Combo #3 comes with a great variety of beef and pork but is SO much meat, I'd opt for one size down next time. We loved the Makgeolli (Korean wine/beer), delicious. Service was very attentive. Low key atmosphere, Korean pop music is on in the background on a low-medium volume.

It was just Okay... Restaurant was Hot! They needed to turn on AC. Food was okay. Waiters mainly stayed and bar. They were nice just not very helpful. If you had a question or needed them you had to motion for them. We most like will Not return

This a hard rating. We had a going away dinner with family & friends and that is what made the evening special. The service is very lacking and there was enough help for the number of patrons. While seated right away, it was quite a while yo get offered drinks and to start our order. There was no inquiry if we've ever been there and bo assistance. Had a family member not known what to do we would have been a bit disappointed. Food was good - some more than others. Tables are too small for 6 people to eat comfortably with all the dishes invoked for Korean BBQ. There really wasn't any server attention to see how we were doing and /or assist. We had to get up from the table a number of times to get our servers attention. The staff sat at the bar folding silverware with their backs to the customers. Given the automatic 18% gratuity we shouldn't be asking for service. It was an unexpected expensive dinner that was fun experience because of the overall experience, but with some reservations for the expensive food & service All this being said, we would give it another try as we are more experienced.

My husband I went for dinner. It was GREAT! We did the BBQ. We got the Bulgogi and the pork shoulder. they were both delish.

Order beef steak and DIY grilling at the table. Veggies and relishes create the whole plate. Good choice! Would go back. Walk a few feet to the Asian market and few doors down and with a $10 card minimum you can try many different frozen desserts. My favorite tasting one was a clear plastic filled chocolate tube that you have to roll with you hands to warm before it squeezes out! Totally delicious Mochi also available.

Excited to go. Went in to a FILTHY mess. Cleaning supplies, trashcans and brooms next to bar drinks and food buffet. Open food containers behind bar. Told hostess we were celebrating my 8 year olds birthday and they forgot to do the singing or anything. Never brought rice. Disappointed.

DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ALL !!! There are several reason why you should not come to this place. First, service sucks, no plates until we asked when food was ready. Second, they brought us FROZEN Bulgogi and we returned however kinda Manager came who barely speaks in English says this funny excuse " BECAUSE OF RAINING TODAY WE KEPT ONLY THIS MEAT IN THE FREEZER " I told her straight that you should not say this better keep silent than showing your self as a "dmp" That frozen meets inside was total red and old meat. By the way, we had to change the seat as they had electric grill which turn off in every 1 minute. So generally speaking, First thing you should do is change your manager and give her work as a waiters and do not sell frozen and old meat. DO NOT COME BACK EVER

Chosun is an excellent spot for some authentic Korean food. My go to is their Yook Gae Jang, it's my "if this isn't good, I don't wanna come back order." It was incredible, and I had tons of left to bring home and enjoy again. All their ban chan choices were delicious as well! A must try if you haven't been to this spot yet!

Very yummy! Came for lunch entrees--no bbq this time--and enjoyed our experience. Great variety with appetizers, entrees, and soups. We opted for two classics: bibimbap and kimchi jjigae. Both were so fresh and flavorful. Also reasonably priced at under $12/each. Loved the side dishes (cabbage + celery kimchee, radish, bean sprouts, and fish cake). Huge portions. Looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future.

Bottom Line: its okay but nothing to write home about. They have the right Korean BBQ house "vibe' and atmosphere with the Korean music videos playing in the background. The service staff were attentive and came around often. The food was a "miss" for me and I've had better around town. Venue: This place has traditional Korean BBQ tables and just regular tables for those that want to order cooked entree items vice the BBQ. The restaurant is clean and it can accommodate a lot of parties of 4 but it may be a bit difficult to get anything above that if you don't reserve a table or call ahead. Food: I got the Galbi Dolsop BIbimbap and was fairly disappointed. It wasn't the traditional Dolsop because they utilized fajita peppers and onions in lieu of traditional sprouts, raddish, and spinach. It was as if they took a pre-packaged grocery store Fajita Package and dumped it on top of the Dolsop in order to save some prep time. The "Galbi" was like a pre-cut vertical flank steak or fajita steak with no marination. The only thing that made this interpreted dish a Dolsop Bibmimbap was the hot pot that it was served in. The rice at the bottom of the bowl was saturated with grease and it wasn't fulfilling at all. Overall - it tasted and looked liked a mix fajita rice bowl with a bit of a spicy kick. Unless your palate is looking for something like this, i don't recommend this particular dish. I would have stuck with the traditional Bibimbap or go with the traditional BBQ grill. Service: Relatively quick and very attentive.

They never disappoint! I love the japchae, soft tofu and tteoboki. Last time I had bbq here it was absolutely delicious too!

Chosun is good if you want to spend lavishly, since it can get quite expensive, so going with a group of people and splitting the check is the recommended. They have good meat and food overall. But the main reason I'm giving it three stars is the management won't give extra services if the wait is long or something to cover the wait. If you plan to order fried chicken, expect to wait at least 30min or looooonger if you order a lot of chicken because they have only one machine to fry the chickens. I heard they recently added this chicken menu but if they're going to compete with GoGoDak, at least be prepared, or else no one is going to go back and wait for about 1hour and 45min to have all their food out. Other than that, good overall food.

Food was tasty and portions were big. Service was really good and quick. We loved our experience here and will definitely be back!

I have eaten here now 5 times. The first time, I was wonderfully happy with the quality of the meats, variety of kimchi, the staff and how easy it was to just cook our own food at the table grill. We arrived at 12:45 Saturday and there were about 5 tables full. When we left (with a lot of leftovers to take home) at 2:00 the place was packed. It is worth the experience, and is a little pricey but you get a lot of food. After the next visits we all noticed a decline in the quality control -- the bulgogi was either not sliced right or had more fat/sinew. It has been a year since we sort of went off the place. Will go back soon and re-try.

Ordered the combo C2: beef rib eye, seasoned pork shoulder, pork belly, one short rib, thin sliced rib eye cap, and tender prime rib. It was plenty of meat for three of us along with kimchi sides, rice and lettuce to make wraps. Kimchi was okay but it was nice to have the option to order more if needed. The drink menu had no prices I was surprised to see a bottle of soju was $15. I also with we had some salt and pepper to season the meat before cooking. I only used the sauce for dipping I'm not sure if I was supposed to pour it on the meat first? They also didn't provide a lot of dipping sauce. It was our first time having Korean BBQ I just wish they gave us a bit more instructions on cooking. Also prices are high for what you get.

In KC for the day and found this on Yelp. Truly enjoyed the food. The highlight was the kimchee pancake. Had very tender pork shoulder with all the sides. Kimchee, fish cakes and kale were the best. I did not like the little sausage in the side.

First Korean bbq I tried in Kansas. A little disappointed about them not having the cross cut short ribs with the bone. We ordered pan fried dumplings: they were small but very tasty and crispy. Next order of the extra wings, this was very good if you like extra crispy coating with a slightly tangy and spicy sauce covering. Thumbs up it was still crispy even with all that sauce. Soondubo (tofu soup) with beef was not spicy as I would like but still silky and bubbling. For the BBQ we got bulgogi and bone in short ribs. Marinade was not very strong but they had an awesome ginger dipping that complemented the meat well. Took my daughter and her friends for their first Korean experience and I think it was a hit.

It's been awhile since I've been here. Forgot how good their Korean BBQ is. I was pretty happy everything today. A group of 8 adults, we ordered 2 combo meat #1's and an order of Bulgogi. We had to get an extra serving of salad because it's so good. They side dishes were good today. They are usually so busy that we couldn't get in. They also don't take any reservations either. It's still a solid place for Korean BBQ, nonetheless.

This is my favorite K-food restaurant in KC and it has to be this location. They have a great variety of lunch options, including 2 bento box options. I have tried everything from the mackerel (beware of bones, but flavor is perfection), kalbi, seolleongtang, kalbi tang, to the soondubu jigae. The kalbi is less fatty here than other places, so you get more meat. For 2 of us, they usually bring only 3-5 banchan. My favorite are the fish cakes and braised potatoes. The same lunch server always seems to be there whenever I go. He's super nice, attentive, and efficient. Since I told the server that my son can't tolerate spice, he's always brought us the non-spicy banchan when he sees us. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not, but I appreciate it either way. If I had one critique, it would be that the booths are pretty worn out and can be uncomfortable sometimes. But seriously, the food here is amazing and the BBQ meat quality never misses.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in KCMO. Whenever I'm craving Korean food this is my first choice! The place is ALWAYS very clean. If you've ever had Korean BBQ, you'll know if they're attentive enough to switch out a new grill for you during your meal. Cho Sun is very good at that. Servers are very attentive and quick on their feet to get you what you want. As for food, everything on the menu is delicious, no matter what you decide to order you won't be disappointed.
