Reno’s rare omakase counter: an intimate, chef‑led progression of pristine fish often flown from Japan. Profiled by Reno News & Review and highlighted by Edible Reno‑Tahoe, it’s the scene’s most serious sushi experience, with occasional hand‑roll bar hours at the same address.

Best Sushi in Reno (2025)
Hinoki Poke

We go here every time we're in Reno and craving sushi/poke. It's not the cheapest, but the ingredients are really fresh and the quality consistently high. My husband is not a huge sushi fan, so he gets their cooked rice bowls and those are really good too. The service has been pretty great and the place is always clean. Highly recommend!

Google
This is my favorite place for poke bowls! The customer service is always great and the staff is super friendly. The ingredients are always fresh, and even when I order takeout, everything is packed well and the service is excellent. When I eat there, the restaurant is always clean and welcoming. Definitely recommend! ✨

Google
I am really starting to like poke bowls in this place is the reason why! The ingredients that you could select from were awesome! The meal was delicious and under $20. It was super filling and they had a bunch of really tasty looking canned drinks. The only downside was it took quite a while to actually placed the order. There was only one guy in front of me and the person that was working behind the counter was really busy. She was nice and acknowledged me as soon as she could.

Bill B.

Google
This is a very good poke bowl. Completely custom to what you want. The staff are professional, polits, and fast. And did I mention the food is good? It's worth trying, especially if you tried poke and haven't liked it. There is enough of a selection here to do anything.

Google
Such a cute little place to grab a quick bite to eat. A bit on the pricey side, but the ingredients are fresh. Customer service during my visit was perfect.

Google
We often get poke here and it’s always so fresh and tastes amazing~ Well I’d just like to add that among a few other places, they probably have the BEST takoyaki in town. Such a great price and an easy lunch. I’ve had a few other places that are also good but just don’t compare to the perfect crispy / crunchy outside and easy to chew / soft octopus inside. Whoever is making these, please keep doing what you’re doing!

Google
Great poke, very inhospitable and rude service. The gal at the countwr didn't acknowledge when my daughter and I walked in. We didnt know where the line started so we stood for 15 minutes in the wrong spot patiently waiting for our turn. Then another person walked in and she greeted him and started helping him right away without even making an eye contact with us. When she finally fixed our order she wished us a "good day" in a loud, sarcastic manner. I won't spend my money where i'm not welcome.

Google
Cute little place tucked in the Village at Rancharrah, a cute little shopping area in South Reno. I had never had Poke before and I absolutely loved it! I want sure what to try so I just had them put all the things I know I do like. It seemed weird and like these ingredients wouldn't go well together, but I enjoyed every single bite. I personally enjoyed eating each topping separate with the protein instead of mixed all together. (Like I got mango, endamame and pineapple. My protein was salmon, Tuna and shrimp with spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce. I liked one bite the mango and protein mixture with the rice base. Then the next bite say the pineapple with protein mixture and rice ect.) It was new and definitely interesting! I loved every bite! The place is very clean and the workers there are nice, and take care to make your order exactly how you want it, or offer helpful suggestions if you're not sure what to get. I will definitely eat here again!

Yelp
Fresh tasting fish Nice range of toppings cashier was nice nice drink selection I built my own bowl and was surprised to find that the fried onion topping was like the one you can get at tokyo sushi. They were generous with it too.

Yelp
This is one of the best bowls of poke I've had anywhere. Who would've guessed that Reno could support such a great business? All the ingredients and especially the fish were top notch. Prices are a little higher than at most other poke places, but the quality is so much better. Good sized portions too. Also ordered the takoyaki, which was perfectly prepared and came with generous chunks of octopus.

Yelp
It was quite the amazing experience. Everything was done very carefully and intentionally. It's a very intimate dinner as there's only a seating for 8 people. I've been to Japan and dang, this is the best sushi I've ever had. You get to try real wagyu beef - like the ones they listens to jazz, drink beer and get massaged for 10-13 years. Wow, just wow! They fly the fish from Japan here. You get REAL wasabi. Their menu changes every 4-6 weeks. Please note you'll probably want to do the premium version of this Omakase dinner as it would be sad if you were there for your birthday dinner and others were getting dishes you weren't. Also, they won't do anything special for your birthday, you are just recognized.

Yelp
Some friends recommended this place, so I finally decided to give it a try. Ever since I discovered poke, I've been obsessed! The spot is small, but they have a few tables inside and outside where you can sit and enjoy your food. The prices are reasonable, and while the experience wasn't perfect, it wasn't bad either. I say that because the person who helped me didn't really understand or hear what I was saying I literally had to raise my voice and repeat the ingredients more than once. I even asked for the seaweed salad on the side, but she put it inside my bowl. I mean, I don't really mind I was gonna eat it anyway but sometimes I just prefer it on its own. Other than that little hiccup, everything else was great and the vibe was really chill ¿Quieres que le dé un giro más divertido o sarcástico?
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot overstate how much I love the temaki bar on Wednesdays. I keep coming back time and time again and bringing more people. The vibes at Rancharrah are 10/10, so nice to sit outside as the sun goes down. The fish is so fresh and yummy. The chefs choice nigiri continues to be my favorite, and the unagi was very good too. The fish is buttery and melty, perfect little pillowy bites. Always one of my favorite sushi experiences in reno!

Yelp
Had seen on a recent facebook post that they had increased their business days so we decided to drop by. We've been here previously for omakase, so easy enough to find the location. We both ended up doing the deluxe combo, which offered a good variety of hand rolls. Every roll was delicious and had pretty good quality ingredients. Service was really good and the hand rolls came out at a good rate. Didn't go too long without a hand roll, but didn't get over loaded either. Hopefully they expand their hand roll options as they get busier, have been to similar concepts in San Fran, and this place really reminds me of it. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I come here quite often. I used to drive to south Reno all the time to get my poke fix, but since they opened one a few block away from my house, I eat from here pretty often. That said, I order the same thing every time because some of the other options are not always as fresh or the flavors are not what I prefer. I never eat in the restaurant, it's always a take-out order. It's pretty quiet in there, they could benefit from some music for a better ambiance. The staff is always friendly, it's super fast. The only comment is that sometimes the fish is not as fresh as the fish from their south Reno location and I'd like a larger seaweed salad portion! lol

Sylvia K.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best poke bowl in Reno. I never even wanted to try poke bowls before, but was hooked once I tasted theirs. The number of ingredients and their fresh quality is amazing. The portions are generous and you can try so many different sauces and toppings. The price is reasonable, and you can get points to redeem as credit on the bill. It's located in the charming Village at Rancharrah. We discovered it when attending the summer concert series.

Yelp
Hinoki Poke is easily my favorite poke restaurant in town! Hinoki is a long-standing name in the Reno sushi community and they did not disappoint when they opened Hinoki Poke. You can visit in person and Hinoki Poke is also on DoorDash. The fish and other ingredients is always of the highest quality! Sometimes poke restaurants don't always offer the best cuts of fish, but that is never the case at Hinoki. Their poke bowls are quite large, and I can usually spread it into two meals for myself. You can order from their preset poke menu or create your own bowl, which is always fun! If you are visiting in person, Hinoki Poke is more of a cafeteria-style walk up and build your own bowl type of place. The restaurant has a couple of small dining areas, both indoor and outdoor, or you can take your meal to another vendor at Rancharrah.

Yelp
TL;DR High grade decadence, delicious sushi in the biggest little city For Reno there are little to no places that truly offer a gourmet dining and educational experience. Which is exactly what this felt like, my first omakase experience which they try to keep as traditional as possible but it obviously has an American twist on it meaning the customer service and the conversations with the chefs, as I understand it in Japan they expect you to not the food and have strict policies but here it's a little more lax and friendly. My wife and I along with 6 of our friends went to experience this decadent and delicious experience, and even though the price was well over 200$ it truly felt unique and special. I definitely felt out of my tax bracket and after asking them many questions about the quality of the fish rest assured you are getting the freshest and the best fish you can get, they even made the Unni (sea urchin) taste delicious and not as gamey as you would think it to be. All in all if you can afford it and treat yourself to an amazing experience do it. The chefs were professional as well as the waitress, much to my surprise but were willing to joke around with you and have wonderful conversations with you. However if you want to act like an eccentric and be silent your entire meal to enjoy all the food that works as well and they will do their best to accommodate you. My recommendation, these people are human too so recognize the effort they put into it and try to be as friendly and appreciative as possible. As I understand it they never try to keep their fish for any longer than a day or 2 before they decide that the quality has gone degraded too much.

Yelp
Yummy poke in rancharrah! I'm not going to lie at first I thought the price was a little too high but, with the amount of poke I received, it was definitely worth it! I ended up building my own bowl and the tuna and hamachi tasted fresh. The service was great and was friendly. They only have seating outside.
google avatar

Alexa K.

Yelp
Was in the mood for some poke and decided to try this spot in Rancharrah for the first time. The restaurant is very clean inside and there is seating available inside and outside. The woman who helped us wasn't overly friendly, but she did provide some suggestions throughout. The poke itself was delicious- one of the best tasting I've had in a long time. It was fresh and flavorful, and I liked the combination of sauces (I got the Sesame Shoyu and Spicy Mayo and was told that was a popular combination). The fish did not taste fishy at all. Only thing was the avocado was pretty brown. My only criticism is that there is only one size of poke bowl to purchase, and it comes with two proteins. This was about $17, and it's a very large size. I would love a smaller portion (and cheaper) option for one protein. For a mid afternoon snack/late lunch, it's nice to have the option.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Very good Poke in a fun location! I got a regular poke bowl. The rice was a touch soggy. And the portion size not as big as poke n go. I did like the number of options though. Will definitely be back

Yelp
This was 1000% a 5 star experience. My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate our birthdays. I was completely blown away by this entire experience. The chefs, the quality of food, the environment-- everything was absolutely phenomenal. We did the omakase standard experience which included about 15 items, which was perfect for us. We also did the sake pairing which included 5 very generous portions of filtered sake. Each sake was absolutely spectacular & paired well with the progression of the dinner. Although pricy, this experience is 1000% worth it for a special occasion or as a once in a while treat. My boyfriend and I went to Japan last March & this was a lovely experience that transported us both back to the quality of food and hospitality that Japan is known for. Hats off to the chefs, the owner and our server. This is an absolute gem in Reno!

Yelp
I went here for the first time after pregnancy. So, my review can be skewed since I couldn't eat raw fish for some time. Overall, the experience was a 10 out of 10. Met up a friend to catch up. Entered the store, and it was super clean, and the staff was so kind. They helped us with our order. They gave us time to look over their menu to build our poke bowl. They made the bowls quickly, and we paid. The inside is a bit small, but the outdoor seating is endless. The complex obviously has lots of outdoor seating. It being a weekday was not as busy, so the options were endless. The bowl looked amazing. I got Hamachi and salmon for my protein with rice as the base. It was super delicious. I will say the spice level was not so spicy. Wish it was, but I had some lemon and ginger to help. I should have asked if they had Wasabi. I think I'll do that to make it even better. Check them out. It was super delicious, and the protein was fresh, just pure perfection. I wish I was better at describing the taste. But I loved it and that's that!

Yelp
Went by Hinoki, craving poke after a spa day at dolce vita. The small shop is next door to Muray, great ambiance, I ordered a bowl of poke, it's taste good, little pricy side. But worth it. I was greeted by friendly staff members and definitely would be back. The foods in my bowl are fresh, and I have no complaints in that department.
google avatar

Eddie R.

Yelp
In the mood for sushi. Came here because of the rating. 4+stars. Gotta be good. Much to our surprise, it was a sushi bowl place. Ok. It's just as good but more food. I ordered the tuna bowl. I loaded it up. Rice, avocado, sea weed, ginger, etc. My buddy ordered the yellow tail bowl with crab, rice, etc. Both bowls were really good. Fish tasted fresh. The service was great. Everybody was very helpful. This was our first time here, and needed the help. We sat outside where we could people watch and talk. This was a great find for our last day in Reno. The Villages is a great place to bring the family the chill with friends or meet new ones. I'm glad we found it.

Yelp
This dinner was one of my favorite dinners in Reno. Im not new to omakase, but I wasn't sure what to expect here. The fish are imported, and the chef took his time to talk about each item. The menu is prepaid due to a problem with last minute no shows. There was a no-show during the time I was there so we had the restaurant to ourselves. The food was excellent. They don't offer substitutions if you don't like something. Luckily for me, they didn't serve octopus. I don't think there is enough time to order something additional if I wanted to. I didn't ask. I had the premium dinner which was 21 items? I definitely had enough food but I usually order more of something I really like at the end as an add-on. I would have liked to order more O-toro! I look forward to another meal here!

Yelp
ABSOLUTE gem of a spot, and the clear top contender for best sushi for casual eats in the greater Reno area. (Their other offering Hinoki O is better, but not a regular food spot at $200+ per person.) They're in soft launch with limited hours, so they don't get a ton of foot traffic -- which is an absolute injustice to the incredible quality of food they provide in the $20-$30 range. I know you can get your typical Reno AYCE sushi for the same price, but the quality they offer here is unmatched even against higher price points.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
Been here countless times and it never disappoints. It's on the pricier side but they have great options and the fish seem consistently fresh.
google avatar

R M.

Yelp
I love all the Hinoki restaurants, from the poke, to the handroll and their sushi locations, they have fair prices for restaurants in Reno, service is always excellent, and they have clean premises. The owner really takes pride in his establishments to offer what you're looking for in the type of food you've come to look for at each of their respective locations.
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
10/21/23 Late as usual , 1st timer here was feeling some Poke and yelp helped me find a local spot . They have a Sushi Place next door as well which I can't wait to try as well . The food was amazing the bowls are massive and for the price of everything I got was well worth it . About $20 but as you can see in pic what a bowl. TUNA w/white rice and literally everything on it . Little extra of everything because I'm extra as you see with all my stuff . The service was great and its cool little spot. What's nice about this spot is this is in The Rancharrah area with plenty of outdoor seating and massive fire pit . I will definitely be going back it was delicious!
google avatar

Amparo I.

Yelp
As a family we were craving a poke bowl. We came across this location. You build your own bowl. The staff is very friendly and patient to assist walking you through the process. The ingredients are fresh and they have many sauce options. We absolutely loved the option of spicy crab and various toppings/shakers. It's a plus they offer to go packs for hot sauce and soy sauce. They also have a great selection of beverages. So difficult to choose as they all look delicious. We tried two of them and they tasted just as it sounded, flavorful. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Howard S.

Yelp
The food and service were of the highest quality. That being said, I was pretty disappointed. I felt that the selection was unimaginative and could've been more varied and exotic for the price point. I also feel that each serving should've been the standard two pieces of sushi. It would've allowed for my palette to really enjoy and savor the delightfully tasty fish that was presented one bite just wasn't enough. Additionally, the tagline in the header for yelp mentions in a minimalistic setting. That word (minimalistic) should not be used as an excuse to be lazy. The walls were stained, and there were many old nails and pushpins sticking out of the walls. Behind the chef the wall was stained with splashed food that made for a particularly uninviting look. In an area such as Rancharrah I expect ambience and attention to detail to be top notch even more so in an Omakase setting. To be a really top-notch experience I was hoping for Japanese elegance, not minimalistic. I have eaten sushi in New York, San Francisco and Tokyo I was hoping for a little bit of that feeling here in Reno. I was hoping for a Wow, not oh it was good.

Discover D.

Yelp
Awesome custom poke bowls and excellent service! Everything is so fresh it was delicious! Thank you!

Yelp
Still absolutely on point with the service, attentiveness, quality and selection of rolls. It was really hard to stop by when they were only open for short hours Wednesdays, but with the new hours and days we will definitely be stopping by more often! We love Hinoki's AYCE spot, and enjoyed the Omakase experience a ton. The temaki bar is a great one between to get access to some higher quality fish and nigiri while also still paying for around AYCE prices. There have been some additional temakis options added since they first opened, and they made the nigiri combo (the best bang for your buck for a genuine Omakase style nigiri sampler I've ever seen) a permanent part of the menu. They usually have a special going on as well. We do wish it was a bit more decorated, or maybe had some nice quiet jazz playing, as it did get a little quiet at times and the blank black walls with the high ceilings were not doing any favors. Otherwise, that has nothing to do with how good the food is. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Love, love, love, everything about this place! Came here for an early dinner with a girlfriend of mine a couple weeks back, and for whatever reason was pleasantly surprised. Love Hinoki off of longley but I've never been a huge fan of poke bowls. This place has all the fixins and then some. You walk in and it's like an upscale chipotle line wise. You come in and pick all the things you want in your bowl. I opted for the shrimp and made my bowl rather spicy with jalapeños and a spicier sauce. Price wise it's rather economical for what all you get in terms of ingredients + serving size!

Yelp
My husband and I treated ourselves to Reno's first and only omakase experience for our wedding anniversary. We've had omakase in other cities, including Tokyo and prefer this style of dining over the mass produced fish typically served in all-you-can-eat joints. Hinoki O did not disappoint. They're open for dinner Friday and Saturday. Reservations only. (Not to confuse with their walk in hand roll bar Tuesday-Thursdays) They have 3 menus you can choose from: - Basic 10-11 items for $100 per person - Standard 15 items for $140 per person (includes wagyu) - and Premium 20 items for $175 per person (includes wagyu and uni) We chose the Standard menu along with the Sake Pairings (3 oz pours of 5 different sakes for $65 per person). We were seated at the bar in front of the head chef Duc and his sous chef, along with another party celebrating a birthday. The bar was clean and minimalistic, and the atmosphere was very intimate. The food was just amazing. You can tell that each piece of nigiri and each dish was well thought out and the experience was executed beautifully for the price. Most of the fish was flown from Japan and so fresh! It reminded us of our time in Tokyo. We regret not splurging on the Premium menu as soon as the party next to us got their uni. We also had cooked dishes: chawanmushi, dumpling, and miso soup. And for dessert: matcha panna cotta. Everything was delicious!! I'm so happy Reno finally has an omakase experience and it was so enjoyable. We cannot wait to go again.

Yelp
Really delicious poke with lots of options and flavors!! I also love that they have options other than poke. It's a bit pricey but makes sense for the area it's in. Patio seating is great in the summertime!
google avatar

Debbie C.

Yelp
First time I've been here. I don't usually post reviews, but this is a good place to go to. They are 6 steps to build your poke bowl. A good variety of quality ingredients with all fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly, Minh, co-owner and Jett who served me. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Tara T.

Yelp
Yum! I rarely get poke bowls but I've had a major hankering for one the last few weeks. What a beautiful blue sky sunny day to get one for lunch. Hinoki is the closest place to work so going here was a given and I was happy I did. What a great deal for lunch: +/- $20. They give you a bowl big enough to have room to mix everything and the fish was fresh and ready to just dive in. I'm really satisfied with this meal and the service I received!
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
I'm not a picky eater, so I generally order every topping that doesn't cost extra. For $17, the poke bowls here are very filling even with mixed greens as the base. I enjoyed my greens being crisp and fresh at Hinoki. I mixed tuna and salmon together with their creamy habanero and ponzu sauce.. delightful!! It didn't taste/feel heavy, was refreshing, the right amount of kick and flavor, etc. this is probably my new fave go-to sauce combo!
google avatar

Jose R.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick lunch and really enjoyed the Poke Bowls. I got a Poke Bowl with Salmon and Himachi along with too many fixings to list out. I was very happy with their selection of fish, toppings and seasonings that you could combine to make your perfect bowl. Even a couple "premium" toppings were included without an extra fee. With that said it was a pretty pricey bowl of poke ($17) however the really jam packed the bowl with food and it was very tasty so very much worth it. I also got the pot stickers they were tasty but nothing special. The staff making your bowls were very nice and patient through the process and seemed genuinely thankful for our patronage and thanked us for stopping in. The Place itself is very small, but it was cute and clean, however they have more seating outside and it was a beautiful day to we sat outside. Overall I enjoyed the place and will definitely be coming back this summer when I am craving something fresh and yummy.
google avatar

Christian W.

Yelp
Wow best sushi in town! Great experience. Will definitely be coming back! Staff was friendly nice welcoming. Overall great experience

Yelp
It's dangerous to have all my go to stores In one convenient shopping area.. I've been craving poke, and of course I had to stop... I wanted it as a side to go with my salmon dinner.. Already had scanned the menu before arriving, and went with the "just poke" bowl. I did not know it is also the entrance to the Hinoki Omakase..(which I need to try).. For the price it's a decent size..and enough for two people.. The flavors were good and yes I'd probably order again..

David O.

Yelp
Excellent. Fish is great. Sake is delicious Service is pleasant. Definitely worth it if you can get a reservation!
google avatar

Mely S.

Yelp
Yum!!! This place is great; you get a huge serving and is fairly priced. The space is small inside but they have several tables outside reserved exclusively for Hinoki patrons. The staff was friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my poke bowl, the fish was fresh and so was the mixed greens and the rest of the ingredients. I'm glad this place opened as we didn't have a great selection of poke places in town. This for sure is my favorite one!
google avatar

Max I.

Yelp
I just enjoyed one the best lunches I have had in a long time. Wed. hand roll bar is a hidden treasure and I plan on making it weekly. The service is friendly and very knowledgeable. The sushi bar is clean and brings in good lighting. Thank you Hinoki Team.
google avatar

Alexandra G.

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing experience! My husband surprised me for our 10 year anniversary with an evening at Hinoki O with wine pairing for me, and sake pairing for him. I loved that it was a small group, which made for a nice and intimate evening. Also, the group we shared this experience with, was lovely and everyone talked and shared stories. Each item we tasted, was SO delicious and just melted in your mouth. My husband and I both just kept looking at each other, wide eyed, amazed at everything we were tasting. I enjoyed my wine pairing and I know he found a new favorite sake. I can't even decide on a favorite because it was all just absolutely wonderful. I would say that it is very pricey. But, a perfect place to enjoy on special occasions. In a city where we're bombarded with AYCE sushi on every corner, this is a wonderful addition to Reno.

Yelp
Duk gave a very personalized gourmet experience. Flown in that day, best sushi I have ever had.

Yelp
Ambiance: Clean, brightly lit, warm greeting Service: Excellent service, kind server, thoughtful recommendations. Food: Very good quality fish, and toppings; excellent quality rice and fried onions. Overall: 5/5

Yelp
Finally got a chance to stop by and share a bowl of poke at Hinoki, and glad I did. The fish tasted really fresh and they have a wide variety of choices. The choice of sauces was great as well. Building your own bowl with the help of the staff was easy although with so many choices it is a little daunting. While you could eat inside, it was such a glorious day out, the ability to eat outside is a great option. The price of $17 for such a large bowl is very reasonable and was able to feed two of us. Will certainly come back to try another combination.
google avatar

Suzette C.

Yelp
I stopped by for a poke bowl with my sister. We loved it. It is very clean and the workers were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating outside. The poke bowl has tons of choices with fresh ingredients and the workers have tried the food and offer suggestions. I loved that they cut a fresh avocado for one of my toppings. I will definitely be back.

Matt F.

Yelp
Absolutely the best sushi in Reno... not even close. It's very refreshing to have a unique sushi experience and not the same old boring sushi that every AYCE restaurant serves. The service is always incredible and the fish selection and quality is the best. It's a great location and a well kept secret!

Michael D.

Yelp
Had the "Original" size on July 11th. The cost was $17. Today, July 13th, I checked to confirm they had opened another location on Robb Dr. Which they did. I took a look at the menu and discovered the price has increased approx 20%, to $20.40. The bowl was okay, but I think I'll be looking around.

Yelp
What more can you say about perfection? That Hinoki O is serving some of the best sushi I've ever had is certainly a subjective statement. That the experience is exceedingly intimate - almost to the point of being daunting - is also correct. However, if you love Japanese cuisine as we do, then this is a place you absolutely must visit. What Duc, Chef/Owner of Hinoki O has done is create a bit of a separate peace; entering through his more conventional restaurant (Hinoki Poki), a sliding door reveals a small side room with just enough room to seat six at the bar, plus the chef, his assistant and the sparse yet attentive waitstaff. The menu is omakase-style, which means you leave it up to the chef to decide what you'll be having and how it will be served. The price ($160 for standard, $200 for deluxe) may seem high, but in all honesty I think Duc's breaking about even considering the quality of fish and the expert service you receive. We had the deluxe menu, which included Japanese uni (small and sweet) and seared wagyu (meltingly rich and delicious), in addition to the 12 other courses that come with the regular menu. Duc started us off with chawanmushi, a light broth and custard dish hiding a delightful surprise slice of scallop at the bottom. And what followed was a wonderful procession of sashimi and nigiri sushi, all of it perfectly prepared and seasoned. All the while, Duc regaled us with stories of sushi - what we were having, where it was from, why he was presenting it and how it should be enjoyed - which made the experience effortlessly flow. Don't expect to get California rolls here, nor a bath of soy and wasabi for your sushi. This is the real deal, artfully prepared and ready to enjoy. And enjoy you will. I cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
YUM! So, we wanted to check this place out because it is always appealing to be able to create your own poke bowl. To summarize my experience, here are my top things to note: (1) fresh flavor (2) big portions So, I had the fried tofu and it was just perfectly done! I also added lots of toppings and had two premium toppings which made the bowl quite hefty. For myself, I could easily eat half now and save half for a future meal. There were lots of sauces and seasonings to add for any flavor profile. My husband got the ahi tuna and he commented on how fresh the taste was and mentioned it tasted fresher than this place we had while we were in Hawaii... So that is saying something! When you get there make sure to read the signs for directions. For example, for the protein you can choose up to two different proteins! I also enjoyed all the Asian and Hawaiian beverages they have available, so make sure to look and try something new!

Yelp
Okay, Hinoki Poke, you win! In my opinion, this is the best poke place in Reno. Super fresh quality ingredients, generous portions, and made super fast. The best part for me is that the little fish eggs are tucked far into the corner and not thrown all over the place like at many other poke places in town. They do a great job of keeping ingredients separate here and as someone with an allergy, I really appreciate that! My custom bowl was delicious! Prices are a little higher than others but the portion size is quite large so I didn't mind paying a bit more.

Yelp
The only poke place I can eat in Reno being from Maui. It's delicious and tasty. The flavors and amount of toppings you can do is awesome. Love that we can get quick service, to go, and sit outside to enjoy the Rancharrah vibes.
