"The Saturday line at Dose on the West Side easily spans the length of the tiny space, folks riding their post-workout highs or wrangling small children to make already tight aisleways extra cramped. It’s not hard to figure out why it’s so slammed. The drinks are great, especially the Barcelona—a $6 draft iced coffee topped with soft, salted whipped cream, that’s so popular it has its own T-shirt. Things are a bit more tame during the week, so you can enjoy your chive and goat cheese scone in a smidge more peace. "Ash Coffee is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop filled with stroller-wielding VaHi parents, young adults looking to move the group chat F2F, and those here solely for their thick Vietnamese egg coffee (which has a blowtorched foam top). A well-stocked display case reaffirms that breakfast is the most important meal of the day with pastries like big cinnamon rolls and spicy bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches. Under the cheery glow of natural light flowing in from giant, plant-draped windows, coffee lovers take their place in line.
