China Village Restaurant

Google
Went to this chinese restaurant last weekend with my family. The place was clean and cozy, and the staff were polite but not pushy. I ordered the orange chicken and fried rice, both tasted fresh and not too greasy. My wife liked the dumplings a lot too. Prices seemed reasonable for what we got. Overall it was a nice simple dinner spot, would prob go again.

Google
This was Kinda hard to rate. I read a ton of reviews before trying. It's hard finding a good Chinese restaurant I like( very picky). I ordered the food great price short pick up time. I got home opened the bag took out our fortune cookies then proceeded with the boxes. I go to grab the next box I notice a small cockroach upside down stuck to the bottom box alive trying to move. I immediately put everything back in the bag tied it up and took it back. The food smelt really good too and was packed full. I was really disappointed because I wanted to try them out and was really looking forward to dinner. I took it back gave it to the lady that helped me. She offered a refund grabbed the coackroach with a gloves and held onto it the entire time. She asked if I wanted it for free, at that point I did not want anything to do with it. Im not sure if I'll ever go back now. I may try them later in the future but not to sure. Service was great fast and friendly great spot to sit and eat if you decide to order there. I gave a 2 overall rating because the situation. Hopefully they get pest control in and try to clear the pest.

Google
Amazing place to go and enjoy some delicious food. That first bite of the chicken chow mein took me back to my childhood, I had been looking for a spot all these years that could make the chow mein that good and this place did the job. The owners are really friendly and you definitely get treated like family there. If you are looking for a new place to try out or if you are around the area definitely stop by and you will not be disappointed. If you are looking to try a new dish and you haven't tried their general's chicken I highly recommend it. Thank you China Village restaurant for the experience I will be back soon!

Google
Very attentive staff. I got the Chicken Fried Rice with Green Bean Chicken. The portions are amazing. It is pretty humid inside though

Google
We came to pickup our boat from the service and the batteries died. We had to weight ’till they get replaced and walked to the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is outdated and has 60’s vibe, it would look more happier with a fresh coat of paint and a deep cleaning. No AC, there is a big commercial ugly looking fan that was blowing air. By the reviews I had high expectations and was looking forward to eat at this place. The food was average, the food presentation looked like the restaurant. The server was nice. My personal opinion of this place - I will definitely eat there if there are no other choices.

Google
Service is very spotty. You have to get their attention if you need follow up and that is very difficult. They don’t speak good English. I requested additional pancakes for moo shu pork but she didn’t respond so I was unclear on whether she understood my request. The original pancakes had stuck to the plate so you couldn’t unstick it without tearing each. After waiting about 15 minutes, I got up to leave, pretty upset. As I got up and walked to counter, I asked for my bill. At that point they brought me some more pancakes. I was fed up and just decided to pay and leave. The dish was not tasty to begin with so I ended up leaving more than half of the dish. I doubt I return even though I am walking distance away.

Google
Patient staff, very good food, and cool cozy 50s coffee shop atmosphere. There was a line out the door when my friend and I left and there's no wondering why. This place deserves every good review it gets!

Google
I went there with my two sons. The food was delicious the service was great! The Sweet and Sour Pork was the best! The meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I recommend it if you are having the urge for excellent Chinese food then the China Village is the place for you.

Jim

Yelp
Always great food and the staff is a hoot! Friendly and good people. They have been my go to for Chinese food for years!

Yelp
This spot is a Gem in Stockton! Location is perfect right in the Yosemite village. Our favorite dish was the pork fried rice, everything came out piping hot!!!!! Our next fav is the general chicken. Simply amazing! The service is quick and very attentive, only wish they didn't use the same gloves to touch everything. But it is one of our favorite spots and can't wait to be back soon!

Yelp
This is definitely one of the best places in town. Friendly staff and clean restaurant The bathroom is clean although you have to go through the kitchen, but it's clean.

Yelp
we have heard soooo many good things about this place so we had to try. i was so upset they didn't have spicy green beans. they're my fav things to get at a chinese restaraunt. we got the fried green beans and they said they could make them spicy but they weren't spicy at all. really good and salty though, but not too salty. just perfect! the mongolian beef had good flavor, but the meat was really chewy. i couldn't eat it because it was too chewy for my liking. i don't like orange chicken, but andy said it was really good. it had great flavor and the perfect amount of crisp. the chow mein was really good too. i loved the flavor. it was chicken chow mein, but didn't have very much chicken in it. the price was pretty good compared to a lot of other chinese food places. the portions were also great. will definitely be back.

Yelp
I was craving Mapo Tofu, took a chance, and placed an order here. The food came out in 10-15 minutes and the service was superb! The ambiance reminds me of all those restaurants I visited as a child in Hawaii. This little hidden gem is the place to order some really delicious Chinese food. I look forward to going back and ordering some Egg Foo Young with some Mapo Tofu.

Yelp
Used to come here everyday when I lived down the street from the business. Nice little family owned hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Very affordable and includes large portions. Servers are always friendly and always remember what I always order. I always order the lunch special which is $10. The chicken stir fry with green beans and fermented beans that includes soup and appetizers. Perfect!

Yelp
Truly amazing can't help but want every chance I get. This isn't my first time eating here, but is my first time dining in.

Yelp
This was our first time ordering from China village. The phone order was easy to place, the food was read when I got there to pick it up. I was greeted at the door, with a friendly smile and greeting. The place was clean, and smelled good. The prices were reasonable, and when I got home the food was hot and smelled fresh. My order consisted of chicken, chow fun, shrimp chow mein, orange chicken, and crab Reggaetons. Everything was flavorful, and we gave it a 10/10. Best Chinese food in Stockton, that I have tasted.

Yelp
My wife and I have tried all the Chinese restaurants in Stockton and Manteca and I never been satisfied but this place we were very happy great flavors We had potstickers, fried wings ,war wanton soup, sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu, spicy eggplant, pork chow mein
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Excellent food at reasonable prices. My only request would be that they expand their combo lunch plate and dinner options. I always like for my combos to include fried rice and chow mein which China Village does not. Their soups are exceptional. I love their wonton soup and China Village Noodle soup. Portions are huge and can serve as multiple meals.

Yelp
I happened to be in the area for lunch. I was craving Chinese food. I Yelped of course, and found this spot. It's located in a cute little "village" with several small shops. There is limited parking on the street so you may have to walk a bit. The storefront is a little hidden but thanks to Maps, I found it. It looks like a very old establishment but I was greeted as I walked in. I placed an order for Mongolian beef and upgraded the side to chow mein for an extra $3, so $13 total. It was a little higher than I expected, considering Chinese takeout. I waited for about 5 to 10 minutes for my food. At first, I felt like the food was really greasy, so if you like greasy, this is your spot. The Mongolian had a lot of onions in it but it balanced out the flavor nicely. After a few bites and some napkins, i was able to enjoy it. The greasiness and the MSG got me. There are other Chinese takeout places for less but this did have a unique taste to it that I ended up enjoying.

Yelp
Very nice food. Tried tonight and very impressed with quality and price. Staff are very friendly. All around great!

Yelp
Quick lunch with friend at another older restaurant in Stockton. Service was lightning fast, no sooner than my order was placed, I heard the wok in the kitchen stir frying away, and got my orders soon after. A big plus, the chow fun I ordered exhibited good "wok hei". I also asked for Chinese mustard and they had it, a real plus in my book showing that the restaurant cares about the quality of their products they are serving. The interior is reminiscent of a old diner complete with counter seating and booths, very refreshing. The menu is fairly limited but what they prepare is on point.

Yelp
I was downtown and looking for a place to take my family to lunch. My dad is a picky eater so we decided on China Village. The restaurant is small and cozy and the tables fill up fast. There is street parking out in front. The service is great and the staff is nice and friendly. We ordered a couple of dishes. The food is really good and priced very reasonably. We had the Mapo Tofu, Mixed Vegetables, Chow Mein, Chicken and black bean sauce, and a chicken combo plate. We ended up with a lot of left overs. I look forward to coming back here again.

Yelp
The food was great fresh had a good time with company there would go back and recommend it to anyone who loves food

Yelp
Love China village, it's our local Chinese place. Had concerns when it was sold to another family. Concerns were unfounded. Food is still amazing. Large portions, flavorful sauces. Dine in or take out we're always get attentive and courteous service. Simple seating choices. 2 tables a couple of booths and a counter. Simple decor. Consider us regulars

Yelp
New ownership, 2nd try under the new ownership group. 3/4 dishes were decent but the chicken sweet and sour was hard and chewy. Ended up feeding it to the dog, maybe I am getting old and the choppers didn't agree in any event I will have a hard time coming back when there are so many great choices in this town. Service was outstanding but this was just take out.

Yelp
Food Was Excellent... We had the Ginger Beef over steamed rice. The Fried Chicken it was very tasty and crispy. The Shrimp With Snow Peas the sauce was so fantastic, my husband kept asking if he could have my food lol. Also had the Crispy Egg Rolls they were good, but have a little more meat than veggies. Otherwise Loved It.... Definitely Will Go Back...

Yelp
The best Chinese food I've ever had. A small little hole in the wall type place. The owners are so friendly and sweet. The food is hot and fresh. The meat is extremely tender. They know how to velvet their meat perfectly. My favorite is the Hong Kong style crispy fried noodles chow mein. it's absolutely delicious and it comes with giant shrimp, chicken, and tender beef. I drive 40 miles each way once a month just to go to this place. Their chicken and vegetables is delicious as well! I must try if you're nearby.

Jamie H.

Yelp
Oh my god this was so good. The sweet and sour pork had the perfect texture, and the chow mein flavor was unmatched. Cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
This place got better! HITW(hole in the wall) status been Coming here for about 15 years. You always need a GoTo cheap Chinese spot that makes cheap fresh food woth huge portions. No frills, a little dated, a little dingy, needs updating but not to the point that you're turned away. This is the place. The food has always been fresh and cheap. It has always been good enough for the price to keep coming back. Recently, they seem to have undergone new ownership or management, may be synonymous in this case, but they also added a cook, Fu, that was the main cook at an old revered HITW in Stockton, George's Chinese Deli. (I frequented Georges Since the late 80's) They boasted the best Garlic fried chicken in town, you're lying if you disagree! I saw Fu at China Village and can verify he is there cooking now. With that said, the food is even better now. Just brought the wife and 2 of our adult kids - ordered the following: 1. Fried Green Beans - appetizer, plentiful, freshly fried, light, not greasy, crispy, well seasoned. Delicious with the sweet & sour sauce. Wish they had ranch. 2. General Chicken - breaded, fried nuggets in a salty, sweet dark red sauce - was delicious and stayed crunchy in the heavy sauce. The sauce is tangy, slightly spicy - fine for everyone. Served with fried rice, was excellent. Better than before. 3. Lemon Chicken - wife's favorite - lightly breaded and fried chicken breast - crispy but still moist, sauce was lemony sweet and was excellent. 4. Walnut Shrimp - battered fried big shrimp, tossed in a sweet white sauce. Shrimp was not fishy at all. No fishy smell. Was suculent and crispy. Sauce was not overwhelmingly sweet with pieces of walnut mixed in. Was excellent. 5. Chicken with mixed veggies - white meat, tender, stir fried with carrots, snow peas, onions - was cooked perfectly. Sauce had black bean -U could see it. Salty, savory with just a touch if sweet. Excellent. 6. Ginger Chicken Chow Mein - chow mein with no veggies infused with ginger - this is my wife's signature dish she created with Fu's help at Georges in the 90's. Since Fu is here now, my wife requested it from the waitress. She was confused but we assured her that Fu knows what it is and can make it. He did and it was spectacular. With these new updates, China Village has risen to OUR GoTo Chines HITW in Stockton! Those that know, Go, if you don't, please give it a try! This meal was great. Service was equally good - very nice women served us and gave us refills, checked on us continually. They're English is not great but is fine. Go there ASAP for a great meal.

Yelp
Ginger chicken chow mein, lemon chicken lunch combo, chicken n vegetables combo lunch, walnut shrimp lunch combo and general chicken lunch combo. Green beans appetizer. Foo is the cook here he's from back in the day George's. Service is good and quick. Place is same as always. Booths and tables with some counter dining. Opens at 11am closed on Sundays. Egg drop soup is so good. Ginger chicken was on point! Just like he used to make for us back in the day. The lemony chicken was served hot. Green beans were seasoned so well crispy too. Everything was great and will come back

Tried this spot for the first time. WOW!!! The flavor in the China Village rice and wonton soup were delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. No need to reach for the soy sauce. Thank me later.

Yelp
Will definitely be back!!!! This place is the bomb I have been to a lot of restaurants and I'm always trying to find authentic cooking this place has the right recipe for authentic cooking truly enjoyed the food here so tasty full of flavor they even gave you homemade almond cookies at the end of your meal. This place had a lot of stars had to come and check it out for myself. I will definitely be back. The prices are right and the amount they gave you is awesome order item C for two , and I still took all kinds of food home atmosphere is great older building. Don't get tricked by your eyes place is clean and the service was awesome we where constantly being waited on and making sure that everything was OK can't beat that even in a high priced Chinese restaurant you can be ignored here they make sure you are served and comfortable. I have to give this place a five star if I could gave a 10 stars I would . I will definitely be back! There prices are so reasonable. You need to come try this place. Even left with a good fortune cookie reading. Lol

Yelp
It's been too long since I last reviewed China Village and coincidentally a long time since my last visit. When I lived and worked in Stockton I was a regular. We'd plan our lunches here and get takeout frequently. They always do a great job of making delicious food quickly and with generous portion sizes. On my latest visit I was in town for some meetings in Stockton and met up with a friend for lunch. We managed to grab a booth in the back corner. They get very busy during lunch and make sure to get people in and out quickly, though they'll also let you take your time and linger if you're wanting to. We ordered the potstickers for the table, the sweet and sour pork and the Hunan beef. As we waited for our meals they brought drinks and soup to enjoy. The food came out shortly after and was piping hot and as delicious as I remembered. They're also very generous with the portion sizes. We both ended up with plenty of leftovers- enough for at least another meal. And we were stuffed. I miss this cute restaurant and will definitely make it a point to visit more often when I'm passing through, even if it's just for takeout.

Yelp
We have been eating here for 45 years and it has always been good up until recently. It is changed hands many times and usually the quality did not go down. However when we ate there recently, the quality had gone down significantly. They really skimp on the meat to the point where there's hardly any in meat dishes. After 45 years we will be there no more. Sad to see them go, they were our favorite Chinese restaurant in town.
google avatar

Angela R.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place since I was little, 20 years later it's still my favorite place to come and get hot & sour soup . Service is amazing; fast & efficient.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Their wonton soup and general's chicken is amazing! It's pretty close to my work so it's very convenient for me. I've been going to this place for many years.

Yelp
The BEST Chinese food i ever had!!! Everything is DELICIOUS . And the Customer Service 10/10 very very nice. Thank you
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
My wife and I , on a business trip, arrived right before closing and the staff was super friendly. The building is really old, so colder temperatures, but it adds to the atmosphere. The food was amazingly full of flavor! My wife had House fried rice and I ordered the Tan Tan noodles. We ordered to go: Egg fu young and Mapo tofu soup; even the next day we were not disappointed in the flavor. We will definitely be coming again!
google avatar

Kam M.

Yelp
Great food and service. Looks family friendly. I am a big fan of the wonton soup especially when I'm feeling a little ill. Aways hits the spot

Yelp
Great hidden gem in Yosemite Village. Amazing prices for the amount and the quality of food. If you want Chinese food this is the place to go. Soooo good! Owners are sooo nice!

F G.

Yelp
Food taste was alright (neutral). Went there during the slow hours and the wait was too long, almost 25 min wait for two to-go orders. Prices can be tricky cause they charge extra for switching the side of rice to chow main ($3.50). The real issue is when I did found a layer of chow main underneath the meat that was used as a filler to make the plate look fuller.

Anita R.

Yelp
Very first time trying this place and it's already our go-to spot for Chinese food. Really good quality. Tastes fresh. The chicken and beef are super tender, the sauces are flavorful and the service is friendly. *Two thumbs up*
google avatar

Maritza K.

Yelp
This was the best food I've had in a while. I'm a rice snob (lol) I found that this was my #1 top. I normally don't finish an entire combo plate. I did this night. Sweet sour pork plate. Absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
Review is for takeout. I was craving chicken chow fun and it was soooooo delicious!! Perfectly hit the spot. I've eaten here 3x and each time it's been delicious!
google avatar

Victor M.

Yelp
Real good food for the price. Small mom and pop old school restaurant. Soups are great Mongolian beef spicy but good. Can't wait to return to try something different.

Karina D.

Yelp
Service was great! This was my first time there and you can tell the owners have formed genuine relationships with their customers over the years. The place feels like an authentic restaurant. The food was great too! This is the best Chinese food I've had in Stockton in a long time. This became my go-to spot when craving Chinese food. The chow mein was great, 9/10. Mongolian beef was okay, 8/10. The wonton was also very good 9/10. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
Whenever You're Here In Stockton And Have A Taste For Some Of The Best Chinese Food This Is One Of The Best Places To Go For Exceptionally Good Food And Service Stop And Stay Awhile You'll Love It The Ambiance Is Of A Classic Restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down best Chinese food in Stockton you can never go wrong with a good hole in the wall..
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Excellent food! The best Chinese food I have ever had. I travel 30 miles one way once a month just so I can come and eat here. I buy a lot and bring it home. These are things I ordered recently. The Hong Kong style chow mein is so good! It comes with beef, chicken and shrimp. I always add extra proteins because their meats are so delicious. I don't know what they do their meats and sauces but the meat is so tender and soft and their sauces do not need anything on them. They're so good. Service is excellent. They're so nice. If you haven't tried this place, I promise you give it a try and you'll be hooked. Plus their prices are way below average which surprises me because for the food that they make, I would pay double.
google avatar

Amada M.

Yelp
Best chicken fried rice in town! Their China Village noodle soup is so delicious! I also love their potstickers.
google avatar

Jose H.

Yelp
One of the best food I ever had thanks to yin for making my food the way I like it I will be coming back
google avatar

Rebecca F.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant for the last couple years... Even before the new ownership, and the food is always fire! Now, when you call to order, please be aware that it is not someone at the restaurant taking your order. They have an offsite ordering system, and, if you are not familiar with the restaurant, it may throw you for a loop. I recommend that you go to the restaurant if you are able. It is definitely worth the trip and the people that work there are awesome! If you have not given them a try, I absolutely recommend it. My husband and I usually order the general chicken with the sauce on the side, the barbecue pork fried rice, and the mixed steamed vegetables, extra broccoli! Give them a try! You will not be disappointed.

Nichole A.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in town! Service is always fantastic! My family has been coming here for years and I've never had a problem. The food is always 10/10 and you can't beat the prices. Really yummy.
google avatar

Alissa M.

Yelp
I was a little torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars based on my last visit, but overall I have always enjoyed the food here so I went with 4. When you first walk in don't expect much. It's a hole in the wall type place with as much seating crammed in it that's possible including some booths, tables and a short counter. It is in bad need of a makeover or just a good deep cleaning. However, the food and service make up for the looks of the place. Of the things we've tried, everything has been really tasty. Some of our favorites include the pork chow mein, sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. Service is always friendly although it gets pretty busy at lunch and peak dinner time so plan on a wait if you don't order ahead. Bottom line-if you're looking for reasonably priced, tasty Chinese food and don't care about eating at a fancy place, China Village might be your answer!
