Food and atmosphere was great. I had a random sampling of food, starting with the shrimp ceviche which I would say is their version of a Mexican shrimp cocktail (it was delicious). I also has their Chicken Tortilla soup which was good but I don't care for the diced / shredded pieces of chicken (texture is like tuna fish out of a can), and I also had the elote which was incredible with burts of flavor (served off cobb in a bowl). Chips and salsa was great and I really like their salsa as it's very flavorful and thicker (not watery). Overall this place was great with good food.

Google
Absolutely awesome Mexican restaurant with probably the best salsa that I have ever had. My team and I came here on a whim, simply trying to find a lunch spot that was close to base and we were more than pleased with the choice. We actually came back to have lunch the next day, we enjoyed it so much. On the 1st day, I had the Alambre Ribeye Steak Tacos, the 2nd day I had the Lamb Adobo. The team shared Elote and Homemade Guacamole. Everything was wonderfully delicious and the service was excellent in this cozy little, quiet roadside gem.

Google
Friendly staff, clean establishment. Wait staff are attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! I had the chicken mole and ate it all up. Their salsa tastes great. I think it has a smoked taste to it with just a hint of spicy-ness. I wish they had it for sale, I'd buy a case! The only downside is the limited parking.

Daniel S.

Google
Great service. Our server Sergio was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good and came out fast. We loved the house made salsa. The tacos were good, but seemed small for the price. The patio was shaded and comfortable with misters.

Google
We were here for lunch on NYE and we had a great experience. Service was speedy, food was delicious, and atmosphere was cozy! I had the fried pollo burrito, and hubby had the carnitas platter. I would recommend both!

Mike K.

Google
This is a very special place; they excell at presentation and flavor. 20 years for us, we bring out town visitors here! In the photo, the best churros Stateside.

Google
When looking for really good Mexican food, look for this place. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, like your most loved aunt’s place. Rosie was our server (ask for her) and she was lovely. She made everything perfect. And then the food! Excellent guacamole. Street corn appetizer was sumptuous. The chicken mole was superb. And churros for dessert was a perfect end. Highly Recommended

Google
I stopped here to take in the atmosphere and have a drink whilst walking the neighborhood on Scottsdale Road. The decor is quite nice and the menu looks great. I will be back on my next visit and explore the menu a bit.

Yelp
We were seeking a "Mexican food" restaurant that was more traditionally New Mexican cuisine than typical "Tex/mex" and we found it just blocks from our hotel in old town Scottsdale. What a gem of a place! As a born and raised New Mexican, when I see chile rellenos, pozole, tamales, and mole on the menu, I know it's going to be worth trying. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable considering we arrived at the same time as a large group on a busy Sunday and the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly. We dined here on a Thursday evening as well and enjoyed their happy hour specials before dinner. We enjoyed the Puerco Mole, Chile Rellenos, house and specialty margaritas (Steve's Rita is something amazing), and shared the smooth as silk flan. Absolutely amazing. We loved the choice of sautéed vegetables as a side, with black beans. A beautiful and tasty medley of carrots, red peppers, and zucchini. The corn elote was delicious as well. We highly recommend Los Sombreros and will definitely return here the next time we are in Scottsdale, AZ.

Yelp
We have been going here a lot lately because of the good food. Today may change that. Happy Hour menu on the table said $6 for a few appys. Beers were $4. Tacos $4 each. Ordered Guac and Elote bc of amazing price. My wife was going to get one taco and I was getting a meal. Ordered- Was told tacos come in threes. What? HH says $4 each. Sign is wrong. New sign came to table but we had already ordered. New HH menu put on table now everything is at least $2 more. And the tacos were $15 (bc of three) instead of one for $4. Bill comes and it's $70ish for us both - during happy hour. We just would not have ordered apps if we would have known. You would think they would at least cover their screw up. The waitress knew but we didn't want to talk to owner. So he didn't get a chance to make up for it. So there's that.

Yelp
Fusion? I'd call it just taking that mole to town and well, getting close. Elote was good, and enchiladas mole served me well. My guests were American Mexican purists (chipotle) and yet they enjoyed the food and ambience. Those salsa and chips ... yes, more please.
google avatar

Yelp
This is amazing Mexican, traditional and authentic. The prices are outstanding for the amount of food and flavor provided. Everything here has been excellent! Chx Enchiladas, Pechuga Rellena, Tacos (street style and potatoes are my fav choice), Margaritas, meats, sides, and tortillas are 100% fresh and made to-order-in-house. One can tell they take pride in their recipes that are flavorful, fresh, and authentic. Service is by far superior. Great family, date-night, and chill yet trendy restaurant and local vibe. Do NOT pass this place up! People actually care and give u quality food & service!

Yelp
Casual, vibrant eatery serving regional Mexican cuisine & margaritas in a cozy setting with a patio. I had a mini reunion with a few friends from college. I got the smoked chicken enchilada for my dinner and the chips were delicious. We had a great meal, a great patio to hang out, and great company! The server was awesome. She was on it and very friendly.

Yelp
We were visiting friends in Scottsdale and they recommended Los Sombreros for dinner--we're so glad they did! Service was friendly and attentive, and the margarita was both authentic and delicious. For dinner, we shared the mini tacos and empanadas, which were flavorful and well-prepared. We ended the night by splitting the churros for dessert, the perfect sweet finish. While it would've been nice to sit outside, the warm weather kept us indoors, which was still cozy and enjoyable. Another great spot to add to our Scottsdale list!

Yelp
Kurt, What a mess today was. I tried the Pollo con Espinacas you recommended. It took 50 minutes to arrive after being ordered and the chicken was over cooked and dry. Service was slow. It was busy with not enough staff. Music was good. A toddler peed on the floor and the staff had to be told to mop up the hugh puddle 20 minutes after it happened. They thought it was water and continues to walk through it. Either way, it was a slipping hazard. The visit took just over 2 hours for lunch.

Yelp
Food and service was really good. Would recommend coming here if you're looking for some Mexican food. The guacamole and the salsa are honestly really good And every play was great also

Yelp
We threw my husband's 50th birthday party on the back patio and it was awesome! Food was excellent (we did the Casa Cocina with tacos al pastor and carnitas) and our guests enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. I highly recommend this place for your next large gathering!
google avatar

Eloise O.

Yelp
Great atmosphere on the patio! Had a delicious cucumber jalapeño margarita with tajin on the rim, a mango jalapeño margarita, green corn tamales, and steak tacos. The rice and refried beans were also well made and flavorful. At the suggestion of our server we tried the habanero salsa. It has a kick but it was delicious. This is a restaurant that cooks over wood fire, so lots of subtle smokey flavors in the food. They also have a television at the bar on the patio, it's was a great vibe to watch the baseball game with great drinks and food.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Enjoyed delicious dinner. Definitely repeatable. Efficient and friendly service. Side option served of veggies was carrots and zucchini. Jealous, my husband's serving had a few pieces of broccoli and red pepper. Won't choose the healthy option next time.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Tuesday night with a group of 6 and was seated right away. We started with the queso fundido and guacamole, both were delicious and well seasoned. I had the Oaxacan Old Fashioned with tequila and mezcal and loved it. It was hickory smoked and served with smoke wafting from the glass. It was so good. For my meal I had the rib eye tacos with the refried beans and rice as a side. They were delicious and a good portion to go along with the appetizers. Service was pleasant and very easily split our checks for us.
google avatar

Yelp
So delicious and authentic! We loved the ambiance with the DJ. Service was amazing. Thank you for the good vibes and food.

Yelp
This place had been recommended by our kids & they were right! We came here at brunch time on Easter. We were lucky to beat the post chirch crowd. The staff was exceedingly friendly & the bar patio was delightful. Steve's Margarita : Perfection ! Not to sweet or sour . Generous Chips & Salsa: Gratis, and generous. Perfectly crisp with good salsa. I likes the thinness of the texture Camarones in mole Verde: Loved this dish! Perfect portions! Enough to take home for a snack Chilaquiles Verde: the hub loved this & the portions where great. Served with beans & rice. He liked the added bit of meat which came standard , with beans & rice. I have to say again, the staff was so incredibly welcoming ! We loved this place

Yelp
This is more of a Mexican fusion place for me. Chilli Relleno - came with some sort of light salsa broth which turned out to be very refreshing and good. Highly recommended. Chicken Mole - good but chilli Relleno stole the show. Shrimp cerviche - very different, looks and tastes like shrimp tacos. Not my thing. Shrimp tacos- taste like cerviche but with grilled shrimps. Side orders were good. Service was ok. Desserts: Flan ok Churros - fresh fried, crispy on the outside, pillowy soft inside. Amazing.

Yelp
The food is consistently great. We had tomato salad, steak tacos and pozole. Finished up with Pecan pie. Oh my so good! Hubby had a smoked mezcal cocktail. It's his new favorite. Service is always great here

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Los Sombreros. We've always had great service and delicious food! It was nice visiting this last time and seeing the outdoor space is a little more closed off.

Gaylien Q.

Yelp
Our experience did not start off well. We got seated right away but was not given menus. We waited a while, initially, and when no one seemed to notice, my husband got up to fetch us a few menus. Well, that woke up the staff and they quickly came to the rescue and were quite apologetic. Aside from that, the food was great, along with the service from our gracious waiter. Apparently, this venue was originally someone's home, and where we were seated was the back patio of the house. Weather was great for the outdoor dining. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for great Mexican food. Prices are reasonable, too. If you drive up and find the front of the house lacking of customers, know that they are all on the back patio, enjoying the food and the drink.

Yelp
The restaurant is super beautiful and the staff is super kind, but the food flavor was really lacking. We have gone two times just in case the first time was an off day, and always want to give restaurants a second try before any not to great reviews. I ordered the Elote appetizer and it was okay, it didn't have much flavor and tasted like canned corn, which was super disappointing since I thought everything was freshly made. I also ordered the chili relleno, unfortunately it tasted like dirty water. I really hate to say that; but the salsa tasted like funky water and the chili and salsa had no flavor expect a very odd after taste. My partner ordered what was like a fajita plate, but the meat lacked flavor and was very rubbery. The beans were very bland and the rice was very hard. The restaurant again is beautiful; the staff was so kind but unfortunately the food was not good. It was also a bit concerning seeing the kitchen staff touch their hair; mouth; other objects and not wash their hands.
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
This is more like Mexican Fusion. It wasn't my style of Mexican food I was looking for. The food was good, just not my style.
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
This place is fire on a fork. Was in town for the weekend and went back a second time to eat again. The mole was beautifully seasoned and balanced, great smoky flavors with the chicken that was cooked to perfection. Cocktail list was good but I stuck to the beer out of habit. And bang for the buck is 10/10, pretty affordable once you realize the quality. The manager and all his staff were so friendly and welcoming. The bar is nice but it's patio only so if you're brave like me the setting sun in August is a great vibe despite the heat. There are lots places in the Scottsdale area I am sure but don't miss this spot. I travel to the PHX area for business often and will find my way back. Meet me on the patio and crack a beer. Cheers!!!

Denise K.

Yelp
Food was great and ambiance on the outside patio was on point. The Margarita was delicious
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. This is the cutest spot. Outside seating with misters. Nice indoor seating. The staff was the nicest. Everyone was just the sweetest. Everything was great and I will definitely come back. I'd like to try the outdoor seating it was just a smidge hot for us so when it cools down a bit it will be perfect.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
Originally (mistakenly) made reservations for the Mesa location but SO GLAD we figured out this (OG) location was closer. I'm sure the other locations are great, but they don't have the atmosphere, the monster ficus creaking through the patios roof and they don't have Rosie, our fabulous server. We ordered the queso fundido with chorizo and black beans. Gloriosky!! Truly one of the best things I've ever eaten. Rosie brought an order of guacamole on accident but IT was so good I asked that she include it on our tab. Wait. I haven't talked about the margaritas. Again, probably greatest ever. As one guy said a lot recently 'no hyperbole'. Then I had the lamb shank in adobo sauce. M had the skirt steak. Both were delicious. Way too much food. Way too much. Took the queso home with extra tortillas and will have them tomorrow for breakfast before heading back to the airport. We will be back here.
google avatar

Alexz J.

Yelp
Rosie is our absolute favorite! She takes the best care of us every time. Shrimp tacos and Stevarita is my go to every time!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
An average southwestern / Mexican food joint. I had hoped for more as the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is filled with phenominal Southwestern food fare. Chicken Mole is one of my go-to. I ordered their steak mole. The mole sauce was bland, no heat, and no richness. The steak was thin and nothing special. The chips and salsa were good. They did get the salsa right.
google avatar

K D.

Yelp
It was a birthday celebration for my family that was visiting from out of town. Food was fabulous, aircon was broken and it was HOT. Sadly, everyone was beyond uncomfortable. I hope its fixed now. Will check again another time. Food and Service were TOP NOTCH. I love Los Som.
google avatar

Sophia D.

Yelp
While busy, the food was super delicious and the service was efficient! I had the Puerco en Chipotle dish and their Paloma cocktail-- everything was perfectly fresh and full of flavor! Would have it again! The inside dining was a bit hot with limited AC exposure, so I would brace for that.
google avatar

Sherrie P.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Great happy hour and brunch. We have celebrated a number of birthdays here. The flavored margaritas are wonderful. I love the carnitas. They have a great patio.

Molly R.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years and it's always so good! Shrimp tacos, margs, shrimp cocktail all 10/10. Rosie is always so sweet and makes the place feel like Home.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Had a booking for 20 people after a family photo shoot. Was to be seated outside however they had run out of propane for the gas heaters. They were able to move us inside thankfully, as it was quite cold - especially for AZ winter temps. We all ordered food and drinks which were pretty good and the service was great. My only comment was that the food was pretty cold when it was brought out and my son specifically asked to have his food brought out early as he had to leave for work. We waited some time for the food to arrive. His food ended coming out last, after he had to leave. Overall, the food was nice but served cold wasn't making it very appetizing.
google avatar

Gabriel W.

Yelp
The food here was good and the toddlers did good with the nachos and quesadillas. The service was good and the outdoor seating was comfortable. A good range of refreshments as well. Worth a try!
google avatar

Manuel M.

Yelp
My friends and I visited Scottsdale for Giants spring training. On our last day which happened to be my birthday we found Los Sombreros. We were greeted nicely and asked if we wanted to dine inside or in the patio. I was a bit breezy but there was a fire pit and heaters available so it was very comfortable. Our waitress Nicole was a sweetheart and was intent on making our first visit memorable. We ordered the Ceviche and Guacamole for appetizers. They were delicious and the portions were plenty for the 3 of us. Each out our entree's did not disappoint, all were so good. They brought out an old school sombrero and complimentary dessert for my birthday which was cool. Los Sombreros is now our go to for authentic southwest Mexican food.
google avatar

Jerry K.

Yelp
I've made a habit of coming here when I visit Phoenix over the years. This visit did not disappoint. Food is solid and some of the best chips and salsa with extra thin and crispy warm tortilla chips.
google avatar

Jack K.

Yelp
Always good service with a cheerful staff. The eggs with carnitas are excellent and filling. I like the smoked chicken enchiladas. Fair prices and tasty food. There is a nice outdoor bar and tables.
google avatar

Maithili S.

Yelp
Delicious food. Lots of free chips and salsa. The entrees are however on the smaller side. Asked for extra salsa to spice up my shrimp tacos- and it hit the spot. Quick service. Plenty of parking. Found this place via Groupon.

Bill B.

Yelp
Excellent food. Delicious salsa. Service was fine and it's an interesting building. Parking at the restaurant is limited but there are spots nearby in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Callie F.

Yelp
The restaurant was very cozy and had a nice outdoor seating area. Our waiter was nice and attentive. The food was great, chips and salsa were different but delicious!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
I came with a large party because everything in old town was booked. They were able to seat all of us which was nice. The service was super slow though after we got our drinks. Refills for chips and salsa and drinks did not come quickly. And we waited at least 40 minutes for our food. We were a large party so I can understand the wait but they brought all of our food at once so the food made earlier was cold and soggy. The food made later was hot and fresh so it was all a matter of when they finished your order. It would've been much better if we got the food as it was finished. The food itself was alright. Chips and salsa were good. I got the seafood tacos with rice and beans and everything was a bit bland and cold. I also got a horchata which was okay. All in all, I'd recommend other places in Phoenix which have better Mexican food.
google avatar

Britney L.

Yelp
This is my wife and I's favorite place right now. I will preface this by saying we order the same thing every time we come (ceviche & smoked chicken enchiladas) and deliciousness is consistent every single time. Service has always been great, Rosie is an amazing waitress. We have been here both when it's slow and busy and they always give their apologies when things take a bit longer. We've both worked in food service so we know how things can get in a kitchen when it's packed. That's alright! The vibe is really nice, the outside or indoor option is great as well. Just lovely all around! :)
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Amazing food 10/10. I got the smoked chicken enchilada but forgot to take a picture because it looked so good. Probably the best enchilada I've ever had. For dessert we had the chocolate cream pie which was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
#1 Shout out to the potato taco! Service was great, our waitress was attentive and could answer any questions we had about the menu. Note as a group of five they added in gratuity on check. As for food I would not get the guacamole again. We got the large portion and considering that to me it wasn't really anything supersized or I'm not sure how to phrase it except it really didnt seem that big when you dug in bc while it looks like a large bowl it wasn't really a bowl at all but a flat surface underneath so it was more plopped on. It was a fabulous presentation but as far as flavor goes it was lacking . They also put a layer of cabbage at bottom, nothing against cabbage it was just unexpected and in most of the dishes. We got a variety of tacos, margs and a couple other items. Overall fabulous. I loved all the mosaic tile tables, and back patio seating is where it's at, with an indoor/outdoor bar area. We came on a Friday mid day no wait and instant seating.

Cathy M.

Yelp
You will not be disappointed! Food is delicious and the staff is welcoming and attentive. Only concern would be it's a bit smokey inside due to its open kitchen. Wait till better weather and you can sit outside on the patio. Your out of towners will love it..
google avatar

Tyrone G.

Yelp
Worst service. If the service isn't good what should I expect from the food. Had to leave the restaurant because I was being ignored. It's a shame I was looking forward to dining here.

Eli A.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Me and my husband shared the chicken tortilla soup and oh boy it was amazing! My kids got the kids steak tacos and a cheese quesadilla. They said it was so crispy and mouthwatering. Our sever,Ande was so nice and sweet. She recommended the Paloma and oh man that was the right choice! I am definitely coming back here again. Thanks Ande!!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
The service was really good, they where on top of everything. The patio was really comfortable as well. It's a nice neighborhood place, high quality. My carne asada tacos were delicious. The only thing that I would complain about at all was that my food was a little cool. Definitely a great Mexican restaurant.

Olga C.

Yelp
Yelp offered reservations for this place and we made reservations. Except when we arrived, we were told they don't take reservations and that they were busy. But looking around, there were empty tables. We waited to be seated because we were tired and hungry and had a long day. We finally get seated, outside, and the waiting game began. We waited for a while for a waiter. We finally got one after what felt like 20 or so minutes. We saw people around us get seated and attended to first. We didn't get water or eating cutlery. We ordered our food and then waited again. This time for the food. Everyone around us was getting their meal including those who were seated after us. We finally get our food and it wasn't warm. The carne a la tampiquena wasn't great. The steak was overcooked and cheese enchilada looked pitiful. The chicken enchiladas is a dish you assume can't be hard to mess up. This dish lacked flavor in every aspect. We were ignored for the majority of the night. We should've just gotten up and left and paid at the front. It was ridiculous. They looked understaffed but yet everyone else was getting served and helped. The ambiance was OK. Rusty tables and chairs for the outside seating. Inside looked plain. I wouldn't recommend this place. There's other WAY better Mexican restaurants out there. Don't waste your time and money here.

Yelp
I ate here with my daughter at the end of the evening, and the service was good and it was nice to dine outside on the back patio. My daughter enjoyed her three different tacos but I was underwhelmed by the mole chicken enchiladas. The Molé was just bland, I really did enjoy the place but I think next time I would order something different
