"If the name OKO rings a bell, it’s because this Japanese restaurant’s Rye counterpart also appears in our guide to the best restaurants in Westchester. Both the sushi bar and kitchen dishes in this converted firehouse space are equally great—start your meal with the pleasingly crunchy tempura-fried shiso leaves with creamy tofu dip, or the pear and cabbage salad with nutty miso dressing. On the sushi front, the $50 chef’s selection of 10 classic-with-a-twist nigiri is a great value, since most pieces on their own will run you $10-$20 each. Alternatively, you can’t go wrong with tempura mushroom bao, the duck and foie gras gyoza, or the truffled wagyu crispy rice nigiri. Close out your meal with the homemade soft serve or matcha Kit Kat, which are anything but an afterthought." - chloe zale, ciera velarde

Very welcoming and catered to by staff! The food presentation was picture-perfect. The taste of each plate was a different experience to enjoy. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate and played great music. You must make reservations ahead of time in order to dine in. Overall, I would say the food taste was an 8.5 out of 10, but the service from all the staff was a firm 10 out of 10. I would recommend this place to those who love Sushi.

OKO in Westport is a modern Asian fusion restaurant with a strong focus on sushi, offering a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese dishes. The Sushi Rolls are the standout, featuring expertly crafted combinations of fresh fish, vibrant vegetables, and unique flavors that make each bite a delight. The Nigiri and Sashimi are also top-notch, showcasing the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is sleek and inviting, perfect for sushi lovers looking for a refined dining experience. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the sushi and the overall experience make it a worthwhile choice for a special meal in Westport.

Really enjoy the food here. Very creative and interesting twists on standard sushi. Great atmosphere. One complaint is they take you plates to soon. However, Twice we were still eating the last bite of our food and the servers whisked the plate away without us indicating we were ready which was very annoying.

Endless good bites. Lots of unique flavors. Loved the Buttered Lobster Ramen and the hanger steak entree. Our server was great and the chef even stopped to explain a dish to me at expo. Nice touch. We will be back

Amazing food! So many options on the menu it was impossible to choose. Great to get a whole bunch of different options and try as a group. I recommend the Ango Seal Eel and the duck dumplings

Great place for high-end Japanese cuisine with dedication to quality ingredients. If you’re looking for something special in Fairfield County, this is it! Wild-caught seafood — such as wild-caught Ora king salmon — and authentic Japanese fish imported from Japan are the highlights of the menu. The tempura Maitake mushroom was phenomenal - and so were the 2 dipping sauces that came with it. The Miso soup was the best I’ve had. The flavor palette was far richer than what I typically remember. Certainly the highlight were the rolls and the sushi — all delicious and labeled in the pictures. Despite the salmon roll being phenomenal, my favorite was the cedar smoked black cod. If you’re into smokey flavor, that one was a winner (and I’m glad I got 2 of them). My advice: leave space for desert!! The house-made macha kit-katz were a delicious surprise! I was amazed to find crunchy tasty texture on the inside and tasty chocolate on the outside. Our waitress, Rosey, was so sweet to get us a chocolate sundae (house-made) with Oko house-made crunch, which was divine! And I don’t even like chocolate, so I really mean it. Rosey was also very knowledgeable about the food — given it was my first, I had a lot of questions which she patiently answered and even made recommendations based on my food preference! Overall, what a treat! (And a great place to celebrate my birthday.)

Google
A classy way to experience Japanese cuisine! Love the vibe at this former firehouse. We visited on a Wednesday evening and they were packed, so this is definitely a popular spot, and for good reason! They have a great variety on the menu with some unique items that I don’t see too often on typical Japanese restaurants, like the crab fried rice with quail eggs and wild mushroom bao. We really enjoyed the matcha Kit Kats for dessert! Impressive timing from the kitchen and professional staff. Definitely a great place to dine in Westport!

Google
This review is purely on the "omakase". While we went into this knowing it wouldn't be completely traditional, I think omakase is a huge misnomer here, and a prix fixe dinner is more appropriate. There were a few bites that were really awesome, and then most other things were a really blah. I think we would've been better off and much happier just ordering sushi ala carte. First, unless you have the actual four person table, the chef's counter is kind of an awkward place at the expediting counter, which is cool on one hand seeing the orders, but still doesn't have a great view on any prep, and also is a bit irritating when everyone keeps kicking or knocking into your stool as they pass through the narrow corridor that you're seated in. There's literally no way around this. Second, like I said before, there were maybe three or four items that were spectacular, and the rest of the nigiri was very blah and unmemorable. The ending savory dish is an entree of cooked salmon which is perfectly cooked, but if you're at a sushi restaurant, why would this be the finale? Finally, we had entered our dietary restrictions when the reservation was made. The staff also confirmed multiple times with us during dinner about those restrictions, which we thought was really attentive. So we sit through a 2-3 hour dinner, with them knowing our restrictions the entire time beforehand, only to come to dessert to find out that they didn't have any dessert for us at all. It was incredibly awkward as it was presented as essentially they didn't have anything for us, and there weren't any alternatives being offered either, just "we don't have anything." Like, not even maybe offering a matcha, or dessert wine, or comp on the cocktails that we purchased aside from our alcohol pairings..? Just, ok, while you paid for a set menu, you don't get part of it, and you just need to be ok with it. All in all it was a really disappointing experience for something that we'd been really excited about.

Yelp
It is good-tasting food, but the worst portion sizes in Fairfield County. $14 for one bao bun is downright comical, and a $38 Wagyu bento box with five tiny pieces of steak and two sad pieces of veggie tempura is an even bigger scam. For these prices, you'd expect a meal that's at least somewhat satisfying, but instead, you leave hungry and feeling completely ripped off. The value is nonexistent, and it's clear they prioritize margins over customer satisfaction. What's even more frustrating is that the presentation feels like an attempt to distract from the minuscule portions, as if a fancy plate makes up for the lack of food. It's disappointing to pay premium prices and walk away thinking you should've just gone somewhere else--or ordered takeout from a more reasonably priced spot. If you value your wallet and appetite, steer clear.

Yelp
Hi! Hear from your parking lot. Maybe you should update your order online system like every other restaurant in the United States of America. I have never in my life ordered through that system but liking your food I went ahead, not my problem that the date is set to Sunday October, 27th. I think the biggest joke is my order was $118 with 20% tip. And all I ordered was sushi, and a poke bowl and considering I was already in your parking lot you felt the need to call my phone and tell me that you couldn't fulfill my order, I understand if you don't do takeout orders on Fridays. But I find it pretty disgusting that I was sitting in your parking lot, and you couldn't even spare a poke bowl and a couple pieces of sushi you will never get my business again and I suggest nobody else give them business either

Yelp
We made a reservation and went in wanting an omakase, we were told that wasn't possible at the time we sat which was totally okay but a little frustrating because there was no differentiation when reserving online. But that should have told our server that we were ready to spend an absurd amount of money on an experience. 15 minutes in we were finally able to order drinks. We saw our server running about tending to different tables, so we waited patiently. Then she came over to stand at the table beside us. They didn't need anything immediately. She stood, I tried to make eye contact to denote we were ready to order. She continued to look at the table beside us before abruptly turning and leaving. She proceeded to take other tables drink orders, someone ordered bottle service so they took precedence. 15 minutes later we were finally able to order food. I saw it was busy so i gave the benefit of the doubt but it felt as if until we spent a certain amount of money, we were largely ignored. We were also the youngest patrons in the resraurant. The quality of food and drinks were great, I would give that 5 stars. I've had better but it was still a very solid option. The hamachi was next level, best fish of the evening. The duck & foie gyoza were delightful, perfect bites. But I cannot get over the poor experience our server provided. I won't go out of my way to be back. The prices are not worth the dishes, despite the quality of fish.

Yelp
A great place for small Asian fusion bites and a special occasion! The dining area is quite small and intimate but the tables are beautifully set and the service is top notch professional. We decided to order the chefs special in which 5 pieces of sashimi were picked for us. Each melted in the mouth and tasted so fresh. Their ramen egg was delightful and the edamame had a unique seasoning. The parking can be difficult and it is a pricey meal but worth the beautiful flavors for a special occasion or apps.

Yelp
What an AMAZING dinner on my actual bday. It made turning 50 a little easier. A huge thanks to my brother for setting up this special meal- it was fabulous. We loved everything we ate there esp the sushi and beef tartare on crispy rice. The service was great, our server was so kind and friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was classy and pretty. Thanks for a great meal! I would love to come back here the next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Was treated by my daughter for father's day, which made it very special. The place is cozy, with dark ambience and the service was spectacular. It is right on the corner of 133 and Post Road and they have a small Parking lot in the back, which seems to be shared by a few other restaurants, so Parking was a bit challenging if you want to park closer, otherwise there is a public garage on 133 that can be used. The food is on the pricier side, but if you want to enjoy the best sushi, this place simply ROCKED. Each piece was very flavorful and probably the best sushi I have had. This was accompanied with the hand rolls, which had a very cool presentation, wrapped in a seaweed cone. We also ordered the Marinated King Salmon Poke, which was awesome. For main course we had the Madeira-Miso Glazed Salmon, which came with grilled shiitake, baby bok choy, madeira butter. That shiitake mushroom was out of this world, very well done. Lastly my daughter insisted that I try their Matcha Kit Kat dessert, which came with peanut butter & hazelnut & matcha white chocolate, a very simple yet unique creation. Overall, great place to impress a date or for special occasions. Glad I was treated there!

Yelp
READ THE FINE PRINT before you order!! This is no longer the innocent Oko it used to be. I used to come here all the time and I made the mistake thinking that things are the same. I ordered my usual and, to save a little money, decided to forgo the Pellegrino and get a club soda instead. Little did I know... First, the miso soup: a tiny bowl of miso soup is now $8. Next, the chef's selection of hand rolls: used to be $18, now it's $30. And the kicker? That tiny glass of club soda, of which I had to order a bunch of "refills" to satisfy my thirst? $7 each time they brought out a glass. No free refills here. I spent more on what I thought was cheap club soda from the soda gun than I did on my very overpriced meal. Feeling disappointed and more than a little ripped off.

Yelp
One of my favorite dining experiences I've had in a while! Oko was an absolutely amazing spot and such a cozy atmosphere to enjoy the most delicious and fresh sushi, tempura, appetizers, and entrees. Everything was thoughtfully made. It was truly like a work of art!! The service was great. Different servers came by and gave recommendations of what some of their favorite dishes were. Everyone working there was definitely super passionate about the food!

Yelp
So came here with LRoth back in January for a birthday dinner. Place was in Westport...kinda hidden. Their parking lot itself is on the smaller side but there's plenty of parking close by. The space is intimate and modern. Definitely make a reservation in advance. Service was great. We were constantly checked on. Our server gave us great recs on ordering sake. We tried the fried chicken bao, which was good. Interesting mix of flavors. We each got the 10 piece chef selection omakase. The cuts were pretty good but mid. It won't be the wagyu and otoro cuts. It was a fun time with pretty good food. I wouldn't go expecting high level omakase that you may find in the City though.

Mike S.

Yelp
The food here was great! Not really a traditional Japanese place but the fusion that the chef included was amazing. I highly recommend wagyu beef and foie gras sushi. In addition to the interesting sushi selection, their hot food was great too. Service was good but the restaurant was very crowded and kind of loud. Make sure you make a reservation days ahead of time.

Yelp
Had the Omakase experience for our Anniversary. We were seated at the chef's table, which is a counter in front of the kitchen. Staff were friendly and attentive. Top notch service. As for the food, we found it good but not mind blowing. The sushi's were good quality and they were often served with a sauce or seasoned salts. We thought the flavors of the condiments overpowered the seafood. There were some variations on the courses from the menu posted online, but it was 90% the same. We also had the wine paring, which we would rate as very good although not spectacular. It was curated by the friendly bartender who is knowledgeable and attentive. It did not quite live up to our expectations compared to other omakase experiences in this region. So the final verdict is that it was good but needed to be more refined for the price point. Ultimately, we probably would not do this again.

Yelp
I have been to OKO about 4 times before and was really looking forward to my dinner there with friends last Friday. First I must say some of the sushi is just mind blowing delicious. Worth the price. However, Other elements fell short and were in my opinion way over priced. The mushroom dumplings tasted very meh and underwhelming. The tuna poke was rice heavy and lacked the wow factor and flavor elements I would've expected.. All of this would've been ok had our waitress not been so insufferable. One of my friends is a vegetarian and asked very politely about several of the dishes and if they would be appropriate for her (if you've been here you know the menu can be confusing and overwhelming) our waitress was impatient and immediately seemed annoyed and combative. It made for a tense situation and honestly I dreaded every time she neared our table. For a dinner for 3 at over $400 I shouldn't feel like I'm walking on eggshells with the waitress. For this level of dining the service should be far more accommodating and elegant.

Yelp
When we are in Westport, OKO is our go to place for celebrations.  The food is good, the vibe is upbeat and they have some tasty cocktails.  Just remember to make a reservation enough in advance or you'll be eating really early or really late.   This last double birthday, we enjoyed a whole range of appetizers and entrees from the shiro chips and dip to the tempura, salmon poke, a wonderful hand roll and the chef's selection of tempura.  We also liked the spicy squid and pork belly lettuce cups though the lettuce cups provided were really small.  The duck and foie gras dumplings and the okonomiyaki were also good.  Our favorite every time though, are the sticky ribs.  It's a good thing they give everyone a sachet of hand wipes after because we dive right in and don't hold back.  If you are the birthday celebrant, oko presents you with a candle and a big cookie. It's a nice touch. Our favorite drinks tend towards the sweet side with the Clementina and the heat of passion.  The pineapple express and the one knight only are also good.  If you prefer more of the taste of the alcohol then the oolong old fashioned may be the one to choose.  The parking lot had construction the last time we dined at OKO and so the handicapped spaces are on the other side of the building and it is a bit of a hike to get to the entrance. Be careful of where the sidewalk dips down a bit.  The restaurant is lively but this last visit was not as overwhelmingly noisy as our last one.  Perhaps it was because we reserved late and got one of the very early seatings...

Yelp
My friends and I wanted something a bit different for our Friday night outing so they settled on OKO Kitchen. This was my first time dining in Westport (I try not to explore non-diverse cities in CT) so I knew it'd be interesting. There was no parking when we got there so we parked in the garage for free across from the parking lot. We sat by the window and the waitress came to take our drink orders. I immediately noticed her off-putting attitude but I didn't want to jump into conclusions in the event that it was just me. Since this was ALL our first time here, we asked several questions as to what to order and she was extremely rude, purposeful antagonistic and downright mean. I immediately asked for her to be switched out and the manager served us the remainder of the evening. We ended up getting several hand rolls, the lobster roll, octopus and the wild mushroom bao. The food was decent but I've certainly had way better sushi. Our drink, the Ninja, was really good as I got mine with Bourbon. Overall, I will absolutely never rerun back to this establishment. For the waitress to be as rude as she was, and for the food to just be decent, it's certainly not worth the drive or the price ($211 for such a little bit of food).

Joseph P.

Yelp
Here's my take away: overpriced, foofoo nonsense. NOT a real sushi restaurant. They are trying way too hard to impress by adding toppings to just about every dish. Toppings or gilding that's entirely unnecessary -- perhaps to disguise the sub par quality of the food. For example: the ramen egg: a well made ramen egg needs nothing. It stands on its own. And if made properly is bliss. But Oko's ramen eggs were not properly prepared and cooked and smothered with toppings to make them "fancy". Same with the edamame. Why add unnecessary seaweed slices? The best sushi is pure, honest and unpretentious. ...and that's how I would summarise Oko: very pretentious. Sashimi slices so thin they're practically transparent. And cost twice as much as elsewhere. It's a trap for unsophisticated diners who think that by paying more they're getting good food. Newsflash: wrong. We hated it. Left after two appetisers and one entree, then went and had dinner elsewhere. And to make matters more disappointing, our waitress was a bee-ache.

Yelp
Oko Kitchen, though slightly cramped and drafty due to seating being so close to the door (which left blustery cold air in the dining area), was a very solid culinary experience. For appetizers, we ordered Two Spicy Wagyu Crispies ($9 each), which were a bite of pure artistry. Tender, succulent beef, with crispy potato tempura and a raw quail egg yolk nestled on top, adding a layer of rich creaminess to the heat. We also went for the Duck and Foie Gras Gyoza ($18 for four pieces), which was perfection as well. They were perfectly crisp, and browned beautifully, with the perfect thickness of the dough and tender soft filling. For entrees, we ordered the Wagyu Hangar Steak ($35), Crab Fried Rice ($28), and another appetizer, Sticky Ribs ($24). The hangar steak was tender, but slightly undercooked (it arrived rare instead of medium rare) and was lacking seasoning. The potato garnish also lacked some salt, but the carrots it was served with were buttery and satisfying. The Crab Fried Rice was richly flavored and the quail eggs on top were a nice touch. The sticky ribs were nailed perfectly in cook and in appearance, with the meat tender and practically falling off the bone, though the level of salt was a tad overpowering. Overall, despite mild imperfections, we would recommend Oko Kitchen enthusiastically and would return without hesitation.

Yelp
The tempura brussel sprouts were the best sprouts I have ever tried, and I'm not typically a big fan of Brussel sprouts, so that's saying alot! They were teeny tiny and light and crispy and had the most delicious and subtle sauce on them. I would come back just for those!! The sushi was good, the hand rolls were my favorite. Would definitely like to come back to OKO again and try some more things, they have a really interesting menu.

Yelp
We enjoyed our visit to Oko - a fine dining, upscale sushi, Japanese restaurant. Located in an historic former firehouse, the ambiance and decor is gorgeous. We sat at the bar which was very pretty. Our cocktails were interesting and well made. I appreciate when drinks are creative and unique and we definitely got just that. The dishes and sushi we ordered were delicious and again, creative. We ordered some sushi crispies which are pieces of sushi served over a crisped rice cube. Loved them so much!! Great flavor and texture. The miso soup was excellent as were the lemongrass dumplings and the mushroom bao. It is a pricier restaurant but I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. The food and drinks we received were for sure delicious and it was a nice date night.

Emily F.

Yelp
For the price, it did not by any means blow me out of the water. The sushi was okay, the apps were sub par. We sat outside which was nice but the service was slow.

Danting C.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. Liked the concept - fusion food, trendy decor, and nice location. However, why on earth is it necessary to add to almost every single dish Japanese mayonnaise - on your sushi, as a side with the tempura, excessively spread onto your OKOnomiyaki... Window seats in the summer can get very warm from the afternoon sun, and depending on the direction you are facing, the sun can be shining right into your eyes. The dining experience is decent. They use mostly plastic dinnerware and single-use chopsticks which I found a bit weird.

Jessica N.

Yelp
Welcoming, attentive service. Super delicious, fresh, thoughtfully prepared sushi. Flavorful, savory cooked plates. This was our second visit. We'll be back, happily, and hungrily. Thanks for a great meal, Oko.

Yelp
My wife recommended that we try Oko Kitchen based on another favorable review and we were simply delighted from start to finish. Our masterful server Stephanie was wonderfully fluent about the different options, was not overly forceful with her recommendations but was not afraid to steer us in a specific direction once she knew our interests and personal tastes. The sushi heralding from the famous Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo (and tasted market fresh!) was, without exception, the best I have on the East coast including Nobu in its heyday. The presentation was beautiful and every dish was a feast for the senses. Stephanie started us out with nigiri. Bluefin tuna in a zesty marinade, cedar smoked black cod which was wonderful, and king salmon which was exquisite. Next Stephanie recommended the "Crispies" (ask for them by name) which included an amazing Wagyu beef and quail egg - such a lovely juxtaposition of flavor and texture. She also suggested spicy tuna which was very spicy indeed but very flavorful accented by its gochujang aioli. And for the finale, Stephanie brought out 3 delicate hand-rolled sushi of conical shape in a little wooden holder. Among this threesome was spicy bluefin tuna, Ora king salmon which was spectacular and spicy Hamachi. What a way to end a perfect meal. My wife is not a fan of sushi and had an expertly prepared and beautifully presented bento of Wagyu beef and other delights. It is a rare and cherished combination when service, presentation and cuisine are all flawless. Stephanie's masterful service, the superb food and its carefully crafted presentation all made for a night we shall not soon forget and a new restaurant that has become an instant favorite. It is very easy to do things moderately well. Oko excels in every dimension. Hats off Chef Brian Lewis and his team.

Yelp
Had the most phenominal meal at OKO in Westport last night. Can't believe it'd taken us this long to check out this spot! Sushi lovers, you have GOT to give this place a try. We were amazed with how many flavors were packed into each small bite. To start, we got two FANTASTIC drinks. We finished them craving another. The Gingered Ninja was reccomended to me by the waitress and it did not dissapoint a ginger lover like myself! We had to get the crispies because we saw them all over instagram. We thought the tuna crispies were great, but were completely blown away by the wagyu beef crispies complete with a quail egg on top. The flavors were so incredible and if you're going to get anything on the menu, definitely make those your top pick. The sticky ribs were as good as they were photogenic, and the two pieces of sashimi we got were PACKED with flavor even though they were just one bite each. Ramen eggs were also a popular item that we had to try. Overall, this place is a quite pricey, but for the beautiful ambiance you get with outdoor seating on the water and the incredible flavors we experienced, this place is a 10/10!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Phenomenal service. Trendy decor. Comfortable bar stools. Food comes out very quickly. Waiters/waitresses ask you if it's your first time and explain the menu. Very fresh sushi! Would definitely go back again. Michelin star rated. The main dish I ordered was the teriyaki salmon bento box MUST order One Knight Only... "OKO ;)" -- new favorite drink!! Would definitely recommend making a reservation before you go.

Foodfuzz47 D.

Yelp
Great restaurant. We loved the vibe, the service was good, and food was delicious. Our waitress gave us great recommendations but there is so much to choose from we'll have to come back a couple more times to try the rest of the menu.

Sharon S.

Yelp
Went here at the recommendation of a friend who said, "if you like Morimoto, you need to go to OKO!" (PS they have been here for three years. How have I not heard of them?) Omg. SO good! Flavors are amazing. Our group tried a number of the dishes others reco'd, each one better than the next. Everything was high quality and delish! Crispies - tried both wagyu and tuna Edamame Duck and fois gras dumplings Sampler hand rolls Wagyu dinner Miso salmon Loved it all! ALL! Who OKO isn't for: Not great for a 16 year old boy looking for tonnage. If you want a traditional eel and avocado (or other similar roll) roll this isn't the place for you. Who it is for: And, if you want, great flavors and textures, great for smaller quantities and higher quality. So incredibly delicious! If you want smaller bite with surprising flavors that reveal themselves with each chew. Wow, this is the place.

Justin D.

Yelp
Went there tonight- the food presentation was amazing but the service was... well terrible. Drinks were basically forgotten, some of the food was forgotten, and above all - while the food was decent it wasn't worth $400+. We had A5 beef, Wagyu beef, the duck Foie Gras, super fatty tuna with caviar, blue fin tuna, spicy salmon, you name it we tried it. The best part - the drinks. Those were amazing as I had the Pineapple Express and my wife had some Pink drink she loved. We were really exited to try Oko but I would not recommend it. Missing dishes, subpar service and the food to value was just not there. We won't be going back.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Food is consistently good, with the chefs selection tempura and the shishito peppers being great hot foods. The sushi, while overpriced, is fresh and delicious

FeMan B.

Yelp
We had the Omekase with pairings at Oko last night and it was very good, also very reasonable, and the service was excellent.

Yelp
PLEASE READ - This place was phenomenal. Best sushi I have ever had in my life - for the people who are commenting on small portions and expensive prices - I have a suggestion - go to pink sumo sushi or a hibatchi restaurant. It annoys me so much when people make comments like that which detract from the incredible experience my mom and I had at this restaurant. This is a very upscale, high end, luxurious food experience. Not an all you can eat buffet. Also, why would anyone comment on the fact that they use wooden chopsticks and plastic plates? The plates are artfully round, not cheap in any way and allow you to focus on the true star of the show at this place which is the food. What a ridiculous comment. Lol. ANYWAY - This place is for people who truly appreciate the ART and BEAUTY of delicious food. Every piece of nigiri was delicately placed on top of the perfect amount of rice. The crispies were unreal. And the cocktail (I got the Clementina) was absolutely amazing. Not too sweet, extremely cold, and quite refreshing. Everything that came out of this kitchen was extremely thoughtful and artfully done. This is NOT the place to bring your young children or teenagers. Amazing date night spot. Our waiter helped guide us on selecting a lovely array of nigiri. DEFINITELY come here if you love delicious sushi. It melted in my mouth! We also got the scallop entree which was amazing. 10/10. OKO you are unforgettable and amazing. Oh also I loved the pumice stone soap in the bathrooms - so awesome.

Yelp
2nd visit to OKO. Our first experience was so incredible I could not wait. As always, when the bar is set very high, one is exposed to disappointment. To start with, our table was not ready. We asked 3 times at different points in the evening, if we could stay at the bar instead. We were told 3 times it was not possible because of other reservations. And of course, the guests never showed up, increasing our frustration of being moved to a noisy table. It is my fault for not having asked during my reservation, but the hostess could have done better, maybe by simply putting our cocktails while waiting on the house? 2nd mistake when I ordered the Wagyu: I was not asked how I wanted it cooked and ended up having a medium rare which is a crime in my personal view. OKO does such an amazing job at preparing this dish that missing the customer's request is annoying. I would pass these mistakes at any low key restaurant in the area, but OKO is positioned above all those; so are my expectations when dining there. If you passed the venting part of this review, it's time to see the positive: The cocktails are amazing, the crab fried rice comes with large pieces of fresh crab and the OMA sushi are over the top. Picture a 3D experience when tasting them: The look, then the consistence and finally the explosion of tastes in the mouth. I will better schedule my 3rd visit there as I know this place can be at the top when all the planets are aligned.

Yelp
I was just blown away by this place! We came with friends who had raved about OKO and I can totally see why. Drinks were masterfully done. They have a very nice selection of cocktails which mostly consist of interpretations of classics. Sushi was excellent both in quality and the thought put into each piece. Every type of fish received it's on special presentation designed to really set off the flavors. Fantastic all around. I won't say it's a negative (because I think the price was fair for the quality) but I could spend waaayyy more money here than I probably should....and leave drunk and stuffed!

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for our first night out since pre-COVID times on a Saturday night. We wanted to try something new, as every time we came to Westport we couldn't resist a certain taco place nearby... We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, atmosphere & staff, and the unique, inventive fusion dishes. We ordered a few (lol) things: Chefs selection of hand rolls Chefs 5 piece nigiri omakase Gochujang grilled corn OKOnamiyaki pork belly dish Chocolate cake Salmon crispy rice Standouts were the omakase, hand rolls and grilled corn. The corn was amazing, an homage to Mexican street corn, but OKO style! Smothered in gochujang, grilled, piled high with the most scallions I've ever seen in one place, and drizzled with spicy aioli. WOW. like nothing I've had before. Sweet & spicy, umami from the gochujang, and a satisfying fresh crunch from the scallions. I want to recreate this! Sushi was fresh and prepared with accompanying sauces or additions to enhance the flavor. Hand rolls where delicious. My favorite was the yellowtail with a spicy mayo sauce. The setting was actually amazing - most COVID-era dining setups are ok, doing the best they can despite the circumstances. I never hold it against them. But this was above expectations! Socially distanced tables near the boardwalk, lit with a warm glow from nearby heat lamps, and a beautiful view of the water. I wish they could make it permanent! The staff was amazing, especially when a miscommunication occurred with a part of our order. I commend them for their professionalism, and was consistently impressed with the level of service. It can't be easy to work like this right now, but they made it look easy and I throughly appreciate them. Definitely try out OKO, especially right now when you can eat outside!

Yelp
Place is solid and has yummy offerings nigiri fresh, kids enjoyed their bento box as well... only wish that the okonomiyaki has too much flavor taste of anise a bit much. Overall great place

Yelp
Finally got that first real night out since like March...and OKO did not disappoint! The outdoor space they have is awesome - on the lawn behind the restauraunt right next to the river. We tried a bunch of little things to share and each ordered the chef selection of nigiri and chef selection of hand rolls (lay off, first dinner out since pre pandemic) I HIGHLY recommend the gochujang corn - somehow it tasted like meat. The hand rolls and nigiri are great and the fish is very fresh. Topped it all off with the ooey gooey chocolate cake because why not. If you're in the area and looking for great sushi and unique fusion bites you wont go wrong with OKO

Yelp
This should be considered a fusion Japanese Latino American restaurant. So should you be desiring an authentic Japanese meal you may want to pass. If you are searching for a hint of Japanese, then this may suit your tastes. The nigiri selection at first seems an attraction. However, the quality of fish is not up to par for the amount charged. Furthermore, the cook needs to use proper knives and technique to obtain a clean cut of the fish (even if they are previously frozen fillets). Many of the slices of fish were butchered versus finely cut. Either a dull or dirty (not wiped between cuts) knife was used. IMO the fish tastes like previously frozen, thawed, and lack the quality & technique of high end Japanese restaurants but priced similar ($6-$22/piece). The sushi rice tastes flat without the proper technique of a rich saki - dashi preparation and cooling technique. Subsequently the fish and rice are seasoned and one dimensional sauces (taste like store bought kewpie, soy sauce, yuzu, etc) and toppings (sesame seeds, scallions, etc). The techniques for sourcing and food preparation remind me of a novice trying to overcompensate for lack of experience with fish and relationships with a proper Japanese vendor. This is an Average sushi establishment with higher price point but better ambiance. Not my cup of tea or in this case plate of sushi/sashimi. Overall, I would save time and money to dine at a Japanese restaurant in the city (ie NYC) or just visit the other non-Japanese establishments that serve them Yes same quality of sushi/sashimi with less sauce and toppings at a lower price point.

Yelp
UPDATE: i am downgrading my rating from 5 to 3 stars bc... what happened to this place? I used to love OKO, but last time I went, my order was messed up - twice - and then I was given bs excuses for it. The hostess and waitress were incredibly rude, and so was the owner! Nigiris were good but definitely not as good as they used to be - quality has surely greatly degraded. I only had one cocktail, which was nothing special and different from my past experiences, wanted another one but the waitress never came around to take another order. Don't get me wrong, this is still the best sushi in town, but it is no longer worth $100-$150 pp. Sadly, i will not return.

Yelp
This place is truly incredible. The food, the atmosphere and the service make it my favorite date night restaurant in Fairfield! The owner and chef Brian Lewis is also the nicest guy. He goes around to every table to check in and see how you are doing regardless if he knows you! Other restaurants in the area of this level you can feel the difference sometimes of how the treat people they know vs ordinary people like me! Brian Lewis never makes you feel like you aren't an important guest to him. I am currently pregnant and can't eat sushi but last night at dinner they made accommodations to some of my favorites as well as the best mocktail. This place is a must for anyone who loves sushi and traditional Japanese with a twist!

Yelp
Oko's food is great, its service attentive but it has too many tables for such a small space. Our conversation at dinner there was overwhelmed by the noise a toddler was making at a table to our left and a couple's talk on our right. Tables are jammed tightly together. Not relaxing or comfortable IMO.

Yelp
One of the best service experiences I've ever had. At the time I was on crutches and feeling kind of clumsy but they made sure I got to the table fine, took care of my crutches and when dinner was over they brought them back without me asking. The food was great, and the sushi made in a cone shape was really interesting and new. Our servers was really quirky and has a great sense of humor. The place fills up quickly so I would make a reservation if you're coming after 6.

Yelp
Decided on OKO for my 30th birthday dinner and was blown away. The food and service was top knotch! Highly recommend for a romantic date night or celebration.

Yelp
I would give 3.5 stars but am rounding up. We went on a Saturday night (to the Rye location), and ordered a lot of food to share. We didn't love any of the apps/hot dishes with the exception of the fried chicken bao which the 4 of us agreed was the best thing we ate that night. The sushi was wonderful - fresh and flavorful, so when we decide to go back, we'll stick with the sushi.

Yelp
Love the food but the service is beyond unacceptable. We've come here many times and have never been impressed with the service, but tonight was atrocious. We had a reservation. When we arrived and checked in I was told we had already been seated, which clearly was not the case as we just walked in the door. To have a hostess give me attitude like I'm in the wrong when you've clearly made an error is unacceptable. We were then luckily seated in a timely manner despite whatever their issue was. We had our drink order taken promptly, then waited over half an hour before our food order was taken. When the waitress came to our table we were asked if we would like to order more. We had not even ordered more than drinks! I'm sorry but the place is too small for a server to not be on top of their tables. As usual when we received our food it was delicious. When we finished I asked to order two more pieces of nigiri, only to be told the kitchen was closed. Would have been helpful to have our server come over and let us know the kitchen was closing in case we wanted anything else. The experience was so poor that it makes us hesitant to return despite how great the food is. We frequently dine in the area and have never had such a poor experience as we had here tonight. As parents of a toddler looking forward to a date night, and paying a sitter to get a nice night out, we were truly let down.

Yelp
We ordered on a Sunday and waited an hour for food for 5 people. When I arrived, the manager was sheepish... he had cancelled our order and never notified us. Then he refused to give a reason for why the order was cancelled. The best part is... he walked away from me after that. Not sure I've ever been so rudely treated...

Yelp
One of the best omakase menus I've ever had. Absolutely exquisite!!! Did the wine pairing with it and was very happy that I did. The glasses paired so nicely with the variety of dishes and sushi. Cannot wait to come back. Has to be one of the best spots in the state.

Yelp
First time at oko 7pm on Sunday date night. Benchmark for us is Kawa ni which we already love and justifies the 10miles to Westport. Is this either a better or complementary mousetrap?? Decor was austere and a/c too cold. And overall I was expecting this place to have more buzz but felt more like a straightforward neighborhood sushi spot. Parking a little inconvenient if you're like me and don't enjoy valets Onto the food Crispy tuna - good but $7 per piece unacceptably ripoffish Ramen egg is their Japanese version of a deviled egg. Ahight Hamachi sashimi - this was the low point. Fish cut well. Issue was sauce had no acid or brightness. Straight up soy. Blah. Wtf Hand rolls chef sampler best thing so far. Scallops the best. Ribs good quality meat and nice flavor except not sweet enough, just soy with no sticky tartness Karage bao very disappointing. Chicken was crazy fatty and just grody I'm already happily married to kawa ni, white picket fence and the whole nine. I won't be doing this again but wish the place the best. The deliciousness yo value ratio just doesn't work for me.

Yelp
Had great expectations for Oko and they were mostly met. I thought the service was very good for forget the reviews that trashed this aspect of the dining experience. But then it was a 9pm table so....
