On the Grid : Yama Momo

"This modern Japanese new style Izakaya/sushi restaurant and cocktail bar brings an edge to East Dulwich's repertoire of homely gastro pubs and wine bars. Both the food and restaurant interior are really nicely presented. Worth visiting for a special night out." - 2A Studio

Where to Eat in East Dulwich, London | Eater London

"Yama Momo is a more recent venture for the team behind Clapham’s ever-popular Japanese restaurant, Tsunami. Its menu offers various kinds of tempura, sushi and sashimi, and main dishes led by a starring protein – think steamed sea bass invigorated by ponzu and sake. Speaking of sake, there is plenty of it on a drinks menu further enlivened with Japanese whiskies and beers." - Isaac Parham

Five London Restaurants to Try This Weekend | Eater London

"A sleek, grown-up family-friendly izakaya that manages to cater equally well to a rambunctious four-year-old, an allergy-prone relative and out-of-town parents; the dark interiors and effortless service feel polished rather than fussy. The menu blends Japanese and British ingredients across imaginative small plates and excellent sushi and sashimi, with highlights including a wakame seaweed and samphire salad, grilled aubergine with sesame paste and lamb cutlets served with Korean kimchi chili. The drinks list is notable too, featuring a cocktail menu devised by the Nightjar team." - James Hansen

I went to this Japanese restaurant yesterday, and it was such a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious — the chicken was tender, and the sushi was fresh and full of flavour. The ambiance was beautiful and really reminded me of when I visited Japan — calm, authentic, and inviting. What truly made the visit stand out was the service. The staff were amazing, and our waiter, Moses, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was so friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that we had a great time. You can really tell he enjoys what he does. Highly recommend this place, can’t wait to come back! 🍣🇯🇵

There was a slight mix-up with the starters and mains being served at the right time, but Andre, our waiter, went above and beyond to make sure our meal was pleasant. The food was outstanding, and the whole team made us feel welcomed and comfortable. A big thank you to Andre for making our first visit meaningful — we will definitely be visiting again!

Jorrell M, was absolutely amazing at he’s job ! He’s suggestions were spot on, he was also very polite and professional. His smile made us feel welcome 🤗 . On to the food , it was 10/10 the flavours , the presentation. We shall definitely be coming back . It was worth the one and a half hour drive. ❤️

I’ve been to Yama Momo a few times and I would highly recommend the volcano roll. It is definitely the best thing on the menu . Everything else was also delicious but the volcano roll is what stands out. The lychee martini is a good go to cocktail as well. Food is good but I would say it’s pretty expensive.

Google
Was excited to order from here the first time. Have used this place a couple times since. You get what you pay for. Some of the Food is a bit pricey but the quality justifies this. Items on menu you can’t usually get locally from other similar restaurants. Black cod in miso and ponzu or yuzu sauce was VERY yummy and succulent. A bit pricey though. I got what looked like a couple bamboo chopsticks which was nice. Can you please put the scallop in the shell dish you make on your delivery apps as I’ve wanted to order it but can’t :(. And as many other dishes as possible for delivery. Slightly Higher end Japanese food for a fair/decent price. Would recommend.

Yelp
The service, cocktails and atmosphere on the whole was great. The dishes were well prepped, fresh and recommended. My only grumble would be the prices, which presented poor value compared to others, but I suppose that is the catch here. The nearest good quality Japanese is many miles away unfortunately.

Yelp
I don't why so many japanese restaurants have to create this darkwood, low lighting, chilled out house music atmosphere? despite starting on a slight negative this was enjoyable. we sat at the sushi bar, slightly low imo (i want to see the chefs doing their thing), but relaxing and comfortable. the service was attentive and polite. we stuck to the sushi and sashimi and were impressed. very fresh, very tasty and well presented. only the average mackerel was a let down, on what is such a beautiful fish normally. the rest was excellent. slightly pricey, 70GBP without alcohol but it is a nice place. worth a look.

Yelp
A fun, modern, trendy Japanese restaurant in the heart of East Dulwich that offers a great selection of drinks including some very impressive and funky cocktails. The sashimi was fresh and the teryaki beef and seafood toban yaki were delicious. The only let down was the sushi rice was a bit undercooked. You'd expect a restaurant with high end prices to at least get the basics right. I'm not sure if I'd come here again for authentic Japanese food but it's definitely a great spot for dinner whether it's a romantic meal for two or dinner with a big group.

Yelp
The food was very good and the waitresses helpful about how much to order. However its very busy and although we had booked we had to wait for our table for a while and it's so crampt we were in everyone's way while we waited. The deserts and cocktails are even better than the sushi itself - very yummy.

Yelp
This is high quality sushi and exciting cocktails. You do pay a premium but it is a lovely experience. Came here for my anniversary and hoping to go back soon before another year!

Yelp
It was a very nice meal to go with my boyfriend and mum. The flaming scallop starter was amazing. Definitely try that. And the Passionfruit cheesecake. They were very nice and the only criticism that I would say is that there are alot of bar flies which is a bit distracting. Hate to take off 1 star for that.

Yelp
Food was incredibly boring with very little taste. The only positive with the experience was the staff who made it for it slightly. Will not be returning. Put a downer on my anniversary.

Yelp
Food is delicious but wait time for food is ridiculous, 3 hours to eat lunch?!? Quite expensive too for the rather small portions.

Yelp
Fantastic food - a great addition to the Peckham/Dulwich club of great restaurants. The food is delicious, just not quite awe-inspiring. The ambience is slightly clinical. Feels a bit like a formal business lunch spot but overall very pleased.
