Retro bar with specialty drinks, poolside seating & flamingo wallpaper

"A month-long Hanukkah celebration with pop-ups is underway through Tuesday, December 30, with the bar teaming up with local chefs and bakeries for different menus. Expect Mediterranean plates from Knuckle Sandwich and Ezov chef Gilbert St. Peter; Jewish-Cambodian from chef Chanda Mau’s Ming Da’s Cambodian; a selection of Holiday appetizers from the bar’s chef Peter Klein; and baked treats from pastry wizard Amanda Rockman of Rockman Coffee and Bakeshop. Slowpoke Tattoos will also stop by to host a mini tattoo night on Friday, December 12 at 6 p.m. As far as cocktails go, there are festive Hanukkah options like a latke punch with potato vodka and apple cider and a frozen egg nog with spiced rum and cinnamon, and the full calendar of events is available on Instagram." - H. "Kitty Cohen’s may have a pool, but it’s nothing like Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. Instead of swimming laps or listening to screaming 4-year-olds, you go to Kitty Cohen’s to dip your toes in the two-foot-deep water and drink cocktails with names like Sex Panther and Strawberry Feels. With pink-flamingo wallpaper, live music on Sundays, and rotating restaurant pop-ups, it’s one of our favorite spots to cool off on the East Side—no lifeguard required." - nicolai mccrary, adele hazan, katherine lewin
"Skip the bougie hotel pools and embrace the ‘70s vibes at this East Side bar. This spot and its shallow wading pool offer a refreshing respite. Soak up the sun on the expansive patio while sipping classic cocktails – think frozen Dreamsicles and other nostalgic favorites. There will be food pop-ups all summer with folks like Zee’s Wiener System, Lace Burger, Mordisco’s Ceviche, and Guppy’s Indian Fried Chicken. Reservations are not required." - Darcie Duttweiler
"This retro-chic patio bar, open until 2 a.m. on Sundays, is ideal for sipping frosé, dipping toes in the shallow wading pool, and soaking up the 1970s Palm Springs atmosphere. A bathroom selfie is a must in front of its flamboyant flamingo wallpaper." - Darcie Duttweiler

"Even though Hanukkah only lasts eight nights, you can celebrate the holiday throughout December at Kitty Cohen’s. In addition to themed drinks and decor, the East Austin retro bar will be hosting special food pop-ups featuring traditional Hanukkah dishes. When: December 3 - January 2" - nicolai mccrary
