The Best Rotisserie Chickens In LA, Ranked - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Show up to any gathering with a whole chicken, tub of hummus, and bag of pita from Zankou, and you’ll be given a hero’s welcome. It's a chain, sure, but their chicken is a model of consistency with burnished bronze skin and rarely a dry bite of meat to be found. Impressive stuff considering there are now 13 locations around LA (though we still find the East Hollywood original best). No matter how many containers of garlic sauce the cashier puts into your bag, ask for five more." - brant cox

Where To Order Delivery If You Work In A Writers’ Room - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"No one is going to tell you this fast-casual chain has the best Mediterranean food in Los Angeles, but that said, Zankou always gets the job done. The portions are gigantic, the prices are reasonable, and at the end of the day, no writer will ever turn down an industrial-sized tub of hummus and a soft pita. The shawarma is definitely the best option for big groups, but if you want to pick at a whole chicken by yourself to establish dominance over the writing assistant, we approve of that power move, too." - brant cox, brett keating

So Amazing. Middle Eastern fare: the chicken shawarma platter is just perfect. Get extra garlic sauce and extra meat. Perfectly made pita, hummus and tahini. Flavorful, moist roasted chicken straight from the rotisserie.

Zankou Chicken - Review - Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"It’s always an odd feeling driving past an old apartment you used to live in. Especially one you loved. You always wonder how it’s doing and if it’s changed. Are the new tenants treating it well? Does it still remember all the crazy times? After all, it was the only one there when you brought back that iffy person from Saddle Ranch on a weeknight or when you ate shrooms out of a peanut butter sandwich and called your old college professor to talk about the last season of The Sopranos. Zankou is Los Angeles’s old apartment that everybody loved. And still loves. Are there better Mediterranean places? Of course. Do we care? No. With over eight locations around town, Zankou is a bonafide SoCal mini-chain and we couldn’t be happier for it.. Zankou is quick, cheap, sorta healthy, and very satisfying. Regardless of where you fall on the sobriety scale when entering, you’re gonna find a shawarma wrap that hits the spot every time. Also, order a side of hummus and get handed an entire loaf of pita bread that will get you through the next work week. And that’s just the thing about Zankou. It’s always there for you right when you need it. An easy lunch with co-workers, a late night snack by yourself, or an internet date with an easy out. That was a joke but honestly, taking a Tinder date to Zankou is a total power move in our books, and by doing so, you’ve earned your own holiday. Zankou will always have a much-needed spot in our city’s ever-increasing bougie landscape. So, just keep doing you Zankou and let no one tell you differently. Until next time old friend. Food Rundown Chicken Tarna As with almost everything at Zankou, you can either get this in a wrap or as a plate. The wrap is good for a midday situation, but the plate is where you can really sit down and let yourself go. Either way, you’re still getting the same great chicken that’s been twirling on skewers all day just for you. Tri-Tip Shawarma Even though chicken is king at Zankou, don’t skip over their tri-tip. USDA choice cut (or something like that), this is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Whole Chicken A whole chicken? Really? Yes, really. For $17 you get a fantastic rotisserie chicken, pita bread, and all the sauces in the world. The chicken will last you for a few days, making it one of the economically sound choices for stoners in town. Falafel There are entire restaurants dedicated to the falafel in this town that do it much better than Zankou. But is it still good? Yes. And you should order them anyways." - Brant Cox

First time at this location. The food is great. Prices reasonable. The crew was helpful and polite. Parking is okay. Disable friendly. Clean bathrooms.

I have been a frequent customer at this location for years. I always order a quarter dark chicken plate. I have had issues in the past where the chicken looked undercooked and Normandie n have brought it to the managers attention. This time when I ordered the chicken, as I'm eating it I noticed that the chicken looked not only undercooked but it looked raw in some flesh areas. I took what I had left and showed it to Josaline who was the cashier and then she showed it to Edwin who was the manager. He immediately assumed that I was trying to get another piece of free chicken when I was only bringing this to their attention to be more mindful of therally cooking your food. He offered then he said you already ate most of it and then proceeds to go back to his duties totally disregarding me. Josilane disputed with me saying well we cook our chicken therally and you can clearly see that meat looked undercooked. i threw the rest of the plate in the trash and I'm very disappointed at my dinning experience here. One time recently after I ate here I had severe diarrhea and had to stay home from work. Edwin apparently doesn't have good customer service skills and I don't see him attempting to remedy this so I won't be dinning here anymore, but I will caution anyone that eats here, if you order the chicken make sure it is cooked therally before you eat it.

I recently visited Zankou Chicken, and it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. This restaurant is a true gem for anyone who loves flavorful Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food prepared with care and authenticity. Everything — from the food to the service — was absolutely top-notch. The atmosphere at Zankou Chicken is simple, clean, and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where the focus is entirely on the quality of the food and the happiness of the customers. The interior is well-organized, brightly lit, and always kept tidy. Whether you dine in or take out, the service is quick, efficient, and friendly. Now let’s talk about the food, which is nothing short of amazing! The rotisserie chicken is the star of the show — juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The seasoning is perfect, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. It’s cooked to perfection, with crispy golden skin and meat that literally falls off the bone. Paired with their famous garlic sauce, it’s an unbeatable combination! The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — exactly how it should be. The shawarma wraps were perfectly balanced with fresh vegetables, flavorful meat, and creamy sauces. The hummus and tabbouleh were fresh, light

Google
Worse Falafel plate ever oil very old tasted like an old shoes... I mean they charging over $15 for the plate to go plus $1 tip and still wanted 50 cent for the proper bread and another $50 cent for the proper portion of the taking sauce.... lost my appetite before I start eating... is not like the old days

The OG spot from my childhood still brings me joy to come here and eat. It’s been amazing seeing the growth over the years as well for the expansion from this place to the one in Burbank which is my other favorite location to visit. This one has a special place since my dad use to be a truck driver who would deliver their chicken. I remember coming here and the owner of the place use to always stand guard and greet everyone with a nod and ready to clean tables for the next guest. They now have a bigger dinner area with many booths which are super comfy. My go to is to order the family meal of a whole chicken, pita bread, hummus, Tabbouleh salad, extra garlic spread, and gotta get baklava for dessert. I like to eat all I can so I can have some leftovers for that snack attack that creeps in later. The staff is friendly and hard working. There is a security guard dedicated in overseeing the parking lot which is nice. There is street parking if it’s full. It’s usually pretty quick but if they have a line just take a seat and know that your food is coming hot fresh and bursting with flavor. I’ve had pretty much everything on the menu and at this point this place is comfort food.

Google
I wouldn’t wanna hang out here but the food is always good. Late night service / delivery is great to have, although the meat gets a bit dry later on. Get some extra sauce!

Google
All hype For $21, soggy kabob. Not worth it. Cashier was nice but cmon, that was nasty. I wanted to vommit. Kabobs had no flavor, marinate was bad. Rice tasted off.

Google
I use to come to this place way back in 1997 wow long time ago this is was the first Zankou to open and the owner was very nice always there with a smile greeting everybody coming to the restaurant very helpful very nice welcoming the food is amazing. 25 years later and everything still the same. Nothing change. We have to support the locals so they can stay open. They open so many other branches, but this is, was the original one keep up the good work.

Yelp
Zankou will always be my favorite middle eastern restaurant. This location is nice, and has lots of tables and open space. Although, the parking is extra small, you may have to park a block away on the street. The food here is excellent. Please support this business.

Yelp
I went in to pick up an order and nicely asking to also get a few sides please, and after being brushed aside due to their clear frustration being busy, which is part of the job! Hello.. I finally paid for two sides had my take out in hand and was just waiting for a tabbouleh & hummus which they then said you're gonna have to wait! I said thank you and I'm in a hurry as the food was in hand warm. And started getting attitude all the sudden. SMH. She went as far as to say go "SIT DOWN". Wow! Who the heck to these girls think they are speaking to a customer like this. I was like; I don't want to sit down. And can I pls just get the sides quick. They were putting take away orders together and here I was in front of them. ‍ I did move out the way and then she went on about the placement of where I moved back to. Reeeeally??!? I was then totally disrespected by the heavy set girl who rudely insulted me in front of everyone bothering me to move back more when I took two steps back & was out of the way, nicely moving as asked and no one was even stepping forward. I wasn't in anyone's way either! SMH ~ I said I moved back and she continued to say sit down or get out the way your intimidating us. I'm like WHAT??! Wtf. I was nicely waiting as others were and simply in a hurry, not wanting to sit down clearly. Unbelievably treated with such rudeness and totally ignorant behavior. This young heavy set girl should not be working in a customer service job. And you all Lost my business and good referal. I will never recommend this company. She even then went father as to say good! I'll never see your face again. When I said, how am I intimidating when standing back simply waiting!!? I then asked for a refund and will never tell anyone anything nice about this place. WOW! Awful!!! SMH Bye Felisha. You guys lost a great customer and I know A LOT of people locally. Terrible service and even worse attitude.SMH

Yelp
Worst experience . The service here is beyond terrible the cashier was unprofessional, and clearly not good at her job. On top of that, the food took forever to come out, way longer than any normal wait time. The whole place feels unorganized and poorly run. I normally go to a different location, and the difference is night and day fast service, friendly staff, and way better atmosphere. This location is the total opposite. Save yourself the frustration and do not waste your time or money here. EVERYONE GO TO 7851 W Sunset Blvd

Yelp
I personally find this place to be way overrated for the hype people make of this place online and in person. $23 for a quarter chicken and side salad and some pita bread is... well, not super expensive but not that cheap either. Yes it's probably tastier than your average supermarket rotisserie but I still don't understand why it should cost that much. On the other hand, I appreciated the spicy chili peppers that came with my order.
google avatar

Ashli A.

Yelp
Decent chicken plate, but very bad service. I came here for a quick lunch, and got a 1/2 chicken plate. I'd never eaten at this chain before, and the worker seemed annoyed that I had questions about the menu, including asking if it was possible to get the picked turnips without the tomatoes. She told me NO, that it was mixed together, but in my plate, it's obvious that the pickled turnips are on TOP. And on every photo, the pickled turnips are separate from the tomatoes. I don't understand why they couldn't just give me the pickled turnips without tomatoes. Seems she was just being ugly. The other annoying thing was that they just threw in the pita bag in my bag. I asked her if they meant to give me the whole bag, and she said yes, they give every pita like that. But the bag says it comes with 8 per bag. So clearly mine was the last one and they just didn't feel like taking it out. Either way, I didn't like that. It means they don't even warm the pita if it comes straight from the bag. The chicken was good and so were my sides. There's also plenty of seating inside if you wanted to dine in. I'd get the food again. But never this location.

Yelp
Always delicious Zankou Chicken!! Got the wrap this time w extra garlic and tzatziki sauce inside. It's the same deliciousness whichever side of the family's location you go to. HOWEVER, the ladies working the counter at this OG location could not have been more off putting. I felt as if I had offended them or was asking them to do something terrible as I placed my order. Their whole demeanor was so scornful I never want to come back to this location.
google avatar

Aida T.

Yelp
Never had any issues with this place before. I Found hairs in my food. And the chicken does not taste good.

Desiree A.

Yelp
The chicken was moist and very tasty . The garlic sauce comes in cups and oh my goodness . Wonderful . I wanted to EAT EVERYTHING.
google avatar

Corayma T.

Yelp
They were so busy today, we ordered a tri tip plate the lady on the register was so busy she didn't bother to ask if wanted rice. They usually do, the meat was very dry as well. I rarely order a plate always get wraps. Never coming here again.
google avatar

Diana T.

Yelp
My first time at Zankou chicken and it didn't disappoint! The place itself was fairly clean and empty. They have a small parking lot that wasn't full on a Monday night, but I imagine it'll get busy towards the end of the week. We came at an off time. I got the tri-tip plate and the chicken and beef plate. Each plate comes with hummus, tahini sauce, salad, and a whole bunch of meat and two amazing pieces of pita bread. I got it to-go and didn't cook rice because it looked so full and felt heavy so assumed there was rice... but imagine my happy surprise when I started poking around the meat that... there was no rice, they are just soooo generous with portions!!!! I made the meal last three days, two meals were pita wraps, and the last one I ate with rice. Delicious, affordable, and nearby. I would say it's pretty healthy as well, I didn't feel crappy after finishing the meal.
google avatar

Joseph V.

Yelp
Love the Garlic Sauce but I think they should re-vamp the place a bit. Food is good sometimes the Tarna is a bit dry but the hummus and everything else its so good
google avatar

Anara Y.

Yelp
Visited this place and was very satisfied! The atmosphere is cozy, with vibrant tiled walls, and rotating spits of meat behind the counter immediately creative authentic middle eastern vibe. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate with salad and hummus. The portion was generous - juicy well grilled meat, fresh vegetables, delicious pickled veggies, and incredibly smooth hummus. The quality of the ingredients stood out - everything was fresh and flavorful. Prices are reasonable considering the portion size quality of the food. The service was also great - friendly stuff and quick preparation. Overall, an excellent spot to enjoy.

Yelp
Customer service was terrible, I waited almost 30 minutes for my food , I understand they have online orders and are busy , but cmon let's not ignore those who take the time to come in .

Paul E.

Yelp
Hello my babies! I haven't been doing reviews for a minute because..life has a way of "pulling you back in"! Those that know the reference know! So...I thought I would add a review for a food venue I have visited a few times that I am just in LOVE with! That place is LA LUNA RESTAURANT located in the east Los hood at 2333 E. 1st Street! This lovely little slice of Mexican magic serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week from 8am to 7pm! One amazing woman doing it all by herself and the food is BOMB! Please patronize this place and make it so busy she needs to hire help!!!!

Ernesto A.

Yelp
I use to go here a lot back in the days but stopped going to this one and switched to the West Hollywood location, the food is better over there and you can taste the difference. It's definitely different owners. This spot has sadly gone down compared to before
google avatar

Gregory M.

Yelp
This Zankou Chicken is the Los Angeles original! It's classic in its complete lack of visual charm: it is the most generic of cafeteria chic. Hard booths. Minimal colors. Chrome surfaces. And yet, like all Zankou Chickens...the food is amazing. The chicken is tender and juicy. The hummus and tahini delicious. The garlic sauce so fantastic that literally EVERYONE orders extra. What more is there to say? The food is delicious: there's a reason it is such a successful chain restaurant. I am usually not one to give chains very high ratings. I make an exception because this is a Southern California chain. You can't find it elsewhere. Much like Utz potato chips are only found in the Mid-Atlantic states (Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware...etc.) Zankou is a SoCal phenomenon. Period. I've never personally had a bad experience at this location. Orders are usually up within ten minutes. I can even forgive this place for having Pepsi products instead of Coke. And I hate Diet Pepsi. Love it.
google avatar

Juliana C.

Yelp
Restaurant looks outdated but food was very good. The falafel is vegetarian, very vegetarian friendly menu! And I recommend you to try out the baklava, super rich in flavor and not overly sweet. Kitchen area is pretty small but their service was great.
google avatar

Gail M.

Yelp
Had delivery since I was chilling on my visit to LA. Ordered the shish kababob. Was surprisingly good. The meat was flavorful and plentiful. The delivery was fast.

Rosie B.

Yelp
I always come back bc the food is yummy and Maria is always super helpful and friendly. It's always a pleasure seeing her when I come in and she always has a smile on her face and a really hard worker

Domenick V.

Yelp
Food doesn't taste the same i think they went back on quality would make this place good with the consistency in flavors I'll probably give this place one more shot but honestly nothing here is hitting the same right now as I eat this literally everything tastes different even the chicken 32 dollars for my food alone I feel bamboozled
google avatar

Scott J.

Yelp
First time at Zankou, I went all in and got the whole chicken (thank you for cutting it into 6 pieces for me), which came with 2 sides of their super garlic sauce and pita bread. The chicken itself was a solid 3 1/2 for me, moist with a good flavor. Is it the best roast chicken I've had, no. I do feel it's a step above a rotisserie chicken at a grocery store, but was expecting a bit more for $18.99. The garlic sauce is quite strong, too strong for me actually. I'm sure others love it, but it's not my jam. Parking was easy with tons of spaces out front. The woman behind the counter could not have been nicer, great customer service and a warm smile. I now understand the mystery of Zankou, though I'm not rushing back anytime soon.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Best Chicken in the area, also some really good garlic sauce. Order ahead that way you don't wait too long

M B.

Yelp
This is the OG Zankou! So much better than the one near us in the valley (I won't call them out by name) people are saying the owners are mean, man, that's just how you feel when you run a fast-food restaurant all day in Hollywood

Gloria D.

Yelp
Foods are good. Yummy chicken , Shawarma and Beef and Chicken kebabs love their garlic spread.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going to this location for at least 30 years!!! When it was all the OGs were here and the old man sitting on the side. We loved this place, it was our constant spot when all else fails! Lots of memories all throughout the years. Passed by recently cuz we were in the neighborhood and lots have changed. A significant decline in service! Abigail in the front, seemed like she was not having a good day. Service was poor!! Then I realized, she was nice ONLY to her "people". I should've spoken in Spanish!! Don't wanna go there but yup, I went there!! We ordered half a chicken, some shawerma, kabobs, fries, and she forgot to give us the bread and the garlic sauce!! Like really?? Then when we asked her, she didn't even explain why and she just handed 1 teeny tiny garlic sauce!! We had to purchase the rest which is fine but when her "people" next to me ordered LESS than us, I saw her handing them a couple containers of the garlic sauce!!! I should've called her out on it, but I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it! One after another came and she was just handing them extra garlic sauce!! The service was inconsistent and her behavior was unprofessional!! We want the old Zankou when it was ran by decent people that cared about good customer service and not favoritism cuz they're the same ethnic background! Do Better!!! And while we were waiting for our food, the line was getting longer and saw her argue with another customer! Bad experience and for everyone to witness! No Bueno Abigail! I've been to the West LA location several times, the Anaheim & Long Beach spots and they are more friendlier!! ZANKOU, train your staff to provide better service to ALL customers!!!
google avatar

Monika T.

Yelp
Service was awful. Unfortunately the lady in the front seemed annoyed to help customers. The food was bland as I've been to other Z chickens and that hasn't been the case.
google avatar

Mariela M.

Yelp
Food is just as amazing at this location as the others. I usually get falafel, family enjoys the chicken. The food gets 5 stars. What surprised me here was they don't offer free soft drink refills. I thought maybe because of the location, to avoid transients taking advantage, it wasn't "help yourself". But they did charge for one. As others mentioned, one extra garlic is an extra charge. Because of extra charges, 3 stars. Overall, 4 stars. I love Zankou, will be back.
google avatar

Tea S.

Yelp
One of the worst Zankou in LA. Chicken dry, rice is flavorless, the Harissa sauce is all watery. Go to a different location
google avatar

Allen S.

Yelp
I have been coming to Zankou Brand since 1987. I know this place from its original location down on Sunset and Normandie before they opened lots more branches. All of them are consistent with taste and quality across the board. Their signature dish is half rotisserie chicken which has got to be one of the best. It is just not the chicken that's good. The sides that come with it like Hummus, Tahini, salad and the best garlic paste in the WORLD. To tell you the truth 9 out of 10 times I go there just for the garlic paste and I order the food around that one item. And it is only better with chicken. You can try the paste with red meat also but the full flavor gets lost and in my opinion take it with any of their chicken dishes. Basically any of their menu items are excellent. Falafel, Shawarma (chicken or beef), Lule Kebob, chunky pcs of Beef.... Too many to mention. Anything you get probably will be one of the best dishes you've had at a reasonable price. Yelp-o-meter 5 of 5. Service: For a counter service joint it is as good as it gets. Average and no expectations needed. Yelp-o-meter 5 of 5. Ambiance: some branches are bigger and better and this particular one is on the smaller side. It could use an upgrade but it is clean and will do. Take your date here only after you guys have become more involved. It is not a place to impress anyone unless your partner is a foodie and even on the first date will be impressed by the food. Yelp-o-meter 3 out of 5. Yelpellaneous: Parking is small and narrow but you can find a spot and park. Not a place to take your laptop to hang out and do work.

Yelp
THIS ZANKOU CHICKEN LOCATION IS OPERATED SEPARATELY FROM THE OTHER LOCATIONS. BEWARE!! We came here to grab a quick lunch, having gone to zankou chicken in Pasadena and Glendale. First off, I noticed that the menu looked a little different. The font was off and it didn't look like the normal zankou menu. When we get our food, our food's in a styrofoam container instead of the usual paper containers we see at the other locations. There's also no pickled radish or peppers, usually included with the meal. Then they only gave us one container of garlic sauce. I asked why we only received one and they said that they only give garlic sauce with the chicken kabob plates. That makes no sense?? We ordered three plates and they only gave garlic sauce for the plate with chicken kabobs. Do other meats not deserve garlic sauce? Does it put their profits at that much of a negative if they just gave one garlic sauce per plate order? I don't care if I have to pay extra for more garlic sauce, just at least include one standard with the order? Really don't understand this business tactic. It's little things like this that will drive away customers. I will never come back to this location. After my meal, I looked up this location and read through the Wikipedia. If you're curious as to why this location operates like this, you should also look up the zankou chicken Wikipedia site and read through its history. It turns out that this location and the Montebello location are operated independently from the other locations, hence the difference in service. Really not fair that the same logo and name are being used for two very different businesses. If you've been to other locations, then I'd avoid this one, as the level of service and food quality will not match up to expectations.

Yelp
Food was TERRIBLE!! Been to many other Zankou's around Los Angeles which were all really good, fresh and tasty. This location is the exception. Our food was old, dry and almost inedible. The Tri Tip Shwarma plate was not sliced off of the large skewer but served from inside a pan. All the meat was burnt. The Falafel balls tasted like they were made days ago. completely dry and hard. The half chicken was also dry and old and cold. Not to mention they messed up each of our orders. Do Not Go to this location!!
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
IMPROVEMENT! I love it when a place listens to customers and adjusts. The whole chicken was less dry than the last time I had it, though the wings are still inedible to me(tough). The wings are not as sharp anymore, so I'm not afraid to give them to the dogs(the wings are super salty so I rec you rinse them b4 giving to the dogs). The tabbouleh salad is FLAVORFUL *chef's kiss* It's simple, fresh, and I could probably eat it every day. I never knew I liked parsley this much. I'm looking forward to seeing this location get better and better

Hripsime G.

Yelp
The Grilled chicken was amazing. It was well done The condiments were very tasty. The place was super busy. The people were very very busy. The employees were really dedicated to satisfy they clients

Ryan J.

Yelp
Nice quick food, love their wraps and baklava. For a fresh fast food chain it is really good.

Rodney T.

Yelp
The manager of this place, he says his name is Edwin and the cashier, name is Rosy are the worst part of this establishment Zankou Chicken. Horrible customer service and highly question business practices. I've been to many other zankou restaurants and always have a great experience. My first time here at the Hollywood location was a very bad experience. Manager Edwin and cashier Rosy need to check their business practices and need to make sure the cooks are keeping their stations well kept. I will check into to this restaurant again in a few days to see if tonight was just bad luck. Edwin and Rosy, shame on you for trying to overcharge customers for condiments that every other locations gives freely and with a smile. Shame on y'all.

Leajuana B.

Yelp
The service was horrible. I am African-American woman who is visually impaired. The staff at the counter act like they didn't understand me because they kept speaking in Spanish. I needed some guidance to pay with Apple Pay. I didn't know that you have to press for a tip before the transaction can go through The lady seen me waving my phone back-and-forth instead of her saying ma'am do you need some help? she walked away from the counter, came back with a totally bad attitude. I then had to ask her. I do apologize. I'm not sure why the transaction is not going through. She turned the machine around and said tip And I said no tip. Are there an ask for a side of garlic she said what size I said the small one with my food was brought to me at the counter. I had a huge side of garlic when I asked her what this was she told me this is what I asked for. I said no ma'am I asked for a small one she said no you pointed to this one. There's no way I could point to anything because I'm visually impaired. That's why I asked for a small one if I ordered a meal Why would I want to order an 8 ounce thing of garlic sauce not only were they rude to me and they act like they could not understand English from me. They proceeded to give me some two day old chicken. The bones were black on the meat and it was brittle. The bones were so brittle that they just cracked, but they covered it up with the pita bread. I took the food back to the counter. The lady was still again disrespectful to me at that point, I should've just asked for my money back. This has happened to me on two occasions at first I thought nothing of it, but it happened to me the second time I noticed that the Hispanic women are so racist in that facility towards me. I never came with an aggressive attitude or disrespectful demeanor. I only came to enjoy the food I would not recommend any African-American people to go to that establishment. I have pictures to show and I have the receipt to show how she overcharged me and instead of putting the money back on my card she just told me oh it's gonna be five dollars difference and gave me five dollars like I'm done. It's so sad when a place says they have accessibility for people with disabilities, but visually impaired person comes into an establishment and you treat them like this and then you give me food because you feel like I can't see it. It's so wrong again. I would boycott this whole restaurant on Normandy and sunset.

Yelp
Love Zankou Chicken as a brand but how is this location, the original one, the absolute worst? The food never tastes right and is always swimming in way too much oil. The lule kabob just tastes like dry meatloaf. What the hell is going on at this location?

Yelp
I'll say this about Zankou Chicken, it keeps me coming back. Probably because it's a cheap, easy food option that's relatively healthy that's close to where I work out. It's a no-thinker of a location when my gym buds and I are in the mood to eat afterwards. With that in mind I'll say there are some changes that happen here. For example, they used to hand out garlic sauce beforehand or more bread and now they charge. I get it, things change so not that big a deal. However, I was there one day and they gave me a cup of water for free and the next day was told they 'don't do that,' which leads me to think it's more of who's behind the counter, if they're in a good mood or how nicely you ask. It's not so much a change in policy as it being at the whims of staff/management. Still, their shwarma is darn good-whether plate or sandwich and their hummus is dang good. I'll still probably end up going again but just mostly out of habit. PS. this is the ORIGINAL location.

Yelp
I came here after visiting a family member in the hospital nearby, it's the original location and has branches around Los Angeles. I chose to get the combo kabob plate ($20.79) with beef and chicken. It came with pita bread, hummus, cucumber salad, rice, toum (garlic paste), a roasted tomato, and sliced onions with sumac. The beef and chicken were tender but the portion was a bit small, the hummus was flavored nicely and went well with the pita bread. I broke a small piece of meat to wrap the pita bread to dip it into the garlic paste and hummus along with some small pieces of sliced onion. The rice was fluffy and had a good amount. Parking lot is tiny, the staff is nice and the restroom is clean.

Yelp
Ordered zankou via postmates Dec 26, 3PM, DRY CARDBOARD chicken. I was so excited because I've tried zankou before and I remembered it being juicy. NEVER AGAIN. One thing I absolutely hate is when quality is inconsistent so you never know if the meal will be good or not. Another inconsistency- they usually add the spicy jalapeno pepper inside, this time it wasn't there. Maybe it's just this location.

Yelp
Was helped out by Yocelyn - she was super sweet and helpful and patient. Even when dealing with this rude customer whom cut in front of me. Would definitely recommend her when you visit!

Yelp
I ordered 3 chicken kabob plates at 5065 sunset location for my friends birthday. The rice was uncooked. It was hard and crunchy. The tomato was also uncooked. It was mushy. The food was so bad no one ate it and we ended up throwing it out. Ruined our dinner time. Horrible!

Yelp
The original has to be the best and this zankou chicken does nothing but the best. Quality, service! It has the old school feel that you've known for years

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience before at zankou. I ordered a plate of marinated chicken and sauce and the chicken was dried flavorless cardboard. The price didn't fit the portion. I like the tahini sauce and ordered a large one to go. Total nearly thirty dollars for dried cardboard and delicious sauce.

Yelp
A long time ago this place was great . It fell off in quality and service. After my January debacle - horrible food , horrible service . I vowed to never eat at Zankou again . Today Dec 26, I was kind of pressed for lunch . All the decent places are closed. I figured maybe I was too harsh . I tried again . And no ,I was not wrong . I didn't even get to the crappy food part because the crappy service cancelled everything. I walked into the empty restaurant went to the front of the line . Unfortunately two staff members were way too busy worrying about something that occurred before my arrival. They were so engaged with each other that neither one could take the time to take my order . Needless to say I will not be back,. I will also make sure no catering orders are made to my department. Which is no big loss for zankou since that ship sailed long ago.

Yelp
Love the food here but the cashier was rude. We walked in and there was no line , cashier helped two door dasher who came in after me, had a conversation with the cook for about five min , answered the phone and then she took out order. Yoselyn you're customer service is complete trash. If you hate your job, quit. Go flirt with the cook on your lunch break.

Yelp
I've been eating zankou for years at the Toluca lake location and I accidentally doordashed an order from this store. Everything from the packaging to meat quality is subpar. Meat is dry, small portions, and styrofoam take out boxes instead of the compostable ones. Don't worry guys, it's only $21.
